Lenovo Thinkpad T430, Windows 7 stopped working after a windows reinstall

Q: Lenovo Thinkpad T430, Windows 7 stopped working after a windows reinstall

Hello there, I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T430. I bought it used but in very good condition. Since it didn't come with a HHD installed so i had to buy a seperate HHD and install windows 7 by my own.* It did have the problem before, when i bought it first about a year ago, and i somehow managed to resolve the problem by help of some guys here in this same forum. But all my bad that i don't remember where was the solution.* Now i have decided to shift to SSD, and for that i bought a Samsung 128GB SSD and installed the same Windows 7, and this time i used the Lenovo's own software to detect and install all my drivers and here i come with the same problem again, this time my webcam also not coming up.Eventhough i have tried all my best from installing all the drivers avaialble in the lenovo site and also on the support pages but no help.* Some guys says its a hardware problem or a cable is not intact but i have checked both of them,1. The cable is intact i am sure,2. May be a hardware problem but why it happened before the same way and i resloved it without any hardware change.3. And What is the problem with my webcam?4. What am i missing, all the drivers and softwares are properly installed as per the device manager shows. * And i am sorry but this forum has no good helping enveroment, I am sure this isn't only my problem but since people don't get help from here therefore, they don't contact the forum. But i can't leave it as it is! So all you guys please prove me and others wrong with your help.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

When I dock the computer and press the power button on the dock it doesn't recognize my monitor as the main screen. I have to hit a key (Windows 10) and put in my password hoping that it's doing that and then the screen comes up. If I reboot after that ... THEN.... it recognizes my screen as the main monitor. How do I fix this? The only time this happens is when I use it off the dock and then put it back on. If it stays on the dock all the time it does just fine. Any fixes for this? Thanks...

1. Wanted to post this issue with Windows 8 PRO 64 bit recently.
2. My Apps stopped working and all recovery efforts failed to get them working again.
3. Ran several malware and anti-virus programs and still no help to get my Apps working again.
4. I click on an App and the display just returns to the start display.
5. So, I had to reinstall Windows 8 from scratch since none of the "RESTORE" listing would restore.
6. I had not made a "recovery drive" so that was not an option.

A:Apps stopped working and reinstall Windows 8 PRO 64 bit

welcome to the forum, crgurganus.
Remove any security related programs... and see what what happens.. or else try the refresh option using windows 8 installation disc, it is so because the security programs stop the modern apps from functioning properly... if the apps become well, install your security program once again with the most latest virus definitions and program update.

I have had this notebook for a few years and it has performed well. Today however I brought it out of hibernation mode, and it beeped. The keyboard and touchpad were not working. I restarted the computer and it beeped as it was loading, giving a message that said "Keyboard not detected." Once windows booted up, same problem. I shut down and restarted, same problem. I then unplugged everything, took the battery out, put it back together, and now it works fine. I'm a little concerned about this. Is this an indication of a possible hardware failure, or could something else more innocuous be causing it? Thanks in advance!

I'm having this problem for months now. The USB headphones I have at home work fine, but trying to plug anything into the traditional audio port doesn't register (and audio just continues out of the laptop speakers). I tried suggestions like rebooting; no change. I have Windows 10. Checking the audio drivers I only have the most up-to-date Realtek Driver (Realtek Semiconductor Corp, Driver date: 8/1/2017, Driver version: 6.0.1.8224), and there are no other drivers listed (someone had suggested disabling an Intel audio driver, but I don't have that). Tried Windows update and driver update and it's all "up-to-date".  Looking at my BIOS version using msinfo32, it's listed as LENOVO N1EET73W (1.46), 9/28/2017. I only have this issue on the laptop itself when I am using it without a docking station. I do have a docking station for my P50, but its audio works fine with its audio port. Anyone having this issue / have any fixes?

Hello,Today I updated my Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th Gen with the latest drivers recommended by Lenovo Vantage program, as well as the latest Windows 10 Pro updates. After conducting those updates, I can no longer sign in using the Fingerprint sensor. When I open the Device Manager to check the status of the Biometric Device driver, it shows the following message: "This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)"The sign in option using the fingerprint does not even show up in the Windows settings for Sign In. Things I have already tried:1) Update the driver through the Device Manager 2) Download and reinstall the fingerpring driver from the Lenovo drivers website3) Reset fingerprint settings in the BIOS and making sure it is enabled4) Change configuration in "gpedit.msc" -> computer configuration -> administrative templates -> windows components -> biometrics -> allow the use of biometrics and allow users to log on using biometrics set to enabled None of the 4 attempts above solved the problem. Can anyone please provide any solution for this case? It looks like a lot of people have been experiencing this issue and no one from Lenovo provided a clear and definitive solution. The latest drivers must have bugs and, in my opinion, Lenovo must stop distributing them until this issue is fixed. Thank you very much.Best.

Hello, I was very happy to receive my new Lenovo T460s 6 weeks ago and immediately installed Windows 10 which worked flawless from the first try.I set up Windows Hello using fingerprints of the whole family and it worked great. This week I realized that fingerprint sign-in stopped working, saying "Windows Hello isn't available on this device". So I started my search through the web and did:- Uninstalled the Synaptic WBDI device (several times)- Updated the driver for the Synaptic WBDI to the latest version 5.1.311.26 (several times)- Installed all Windows Updates- Searched the whole registry for "Hello" and "fingerprint"- Finally did a "reset" of windows keeping my files None of the above helped. There is no Lenovo fingerprint tool installed, PIN correctly configured and I tried all possible "solutions" proposed on the web... The Synaptic WBDI device seems to run fine, which makes me think that it's not the HW itself. So my questions:- How can I check that the Fingerprint reader is working?- How can I get Windows Hello back to regular operation? Thank you very much and best regards,Werner

Hi, A week ago I updated Windows 10 to the latest version (1903). I have Win 10 Enterprise, 64bit version. This morning I discovered that two fingers scroll on my touchpad is not working. It worked before the update. I am not even sure that I have any driver installed. I can see no options nor I have any possibility to configure anything about touch pad from Mouse and pointing devices config or from Devices in Windows System settings (there is just touchpad sensitivity combo-box and nothing else)...  The rest of touchpad is working. I have Lenovo Vantage installed, no use of any options there. Could not find any applicable solutions using Google. So I decided to try here. I could provide additional informmation if needed. Please help. Thanks. Bojan

Hi all, First of all I would like to take a moment and write my history with this experience. Last year I had a Dell Precision M4500 (i7-720QM and nVidia Quadro FX880M) which it had to be my eGPU machine. But using FL Studio alot, the cpu didn't kept the pace so I had to make a change. My research got to my Thinkpad T430 because Ivy Bridge platform can get you up to 90% of peak performance of your eGPU solution. When I had my Dell M4500, I have ordered the EXP GDC V8 Expresscard solution at a pretty fair and decent price (Christmas sales) from Banggood. Shipping to Romania was quite long, almost 2 months. In the meantime bought from a local guy, a Dell DA-2 220W power adapter which I heard it is plug'n'play. After arrival, I found out that I don't have the PCI-E power adapter for the graphic card, in my case a Gigabyte Radeon 6850 OC 1GB. That's the only card I have so, I was aware that I might need a display monitor. After another months of searching, found out on Banggood the holy PCI-E adapter specialy for EXP GDC solution. To be assured , bought 2 cables (just in case ) because the shipping was 1 month and 2 weeks (long, I know!). Well, last night I was dying to fire it up, so I put my Panasonic TV ( don't have a display monitor, lame, I know...) and put all cables and adapters together, the expresscard in T430 and fire it. My specs :i7-3610QM, 16GB HyperX Impact CL9, 1600x900, Intel HD4000 iGPU, Windows 7 64bit.After Windows loaded, my Radeon 6850 was found in D... Dear all,
I'm looking for some help to understand the possible causes of the BSOD that I've met randomly while using my new Lenovo Thinkpad T430 - 2349-PHG.
The BSOD is not the only problem I'm having. While using the Laptop, sometimes the screen starts to shake, then the laptop shuts down without showing the BSOD. Sometimes, the BSOD appears. Each time I've to restore the Loptop to a previous point in order to make it work.
I've tried to run memory test using memtest86+-5.01, after 10 hours work and 9 runs, there was no errors.
I've tried to use driver?s verifier, however, when I set it up to work, the BSOD appears.
Attached is the recommended ZIP file to analyze the problem, only two dmp files are available.
I hope that I get some help regarding this matter soon.
Thank you in advance for your time and help.
Best regards

Hello everyone, Since monday I have some problems with fingerprint authentication via Windows Hello. It seems to have stopped working for some reasons I don't know. At the beginning, I thought it was a hardware issue but it doesn't seems to be. I'll explain why. Problem description:  When I try to authenticate via fingerprint, OS redirects me to PIN authentication automatically. So I removed my saved fingerprint and tried to set the same fingerprint (and others). But now I can't add a new fingerprint, Windows Hello seems to be inert. My fingerprint device doesn't work. When I removed my PIN and retried to set a fingerprint, my fingerprint device works and detects my finger. Then I've added a new PIN to enable Windows Hello. But neither my PIN nor my fingerprint was saved.  Attempts to fix the problem: - I tried to update driver, I have the last one (5.1.324.26). I tried to uninstall it then reboot, nothing happens;- Via administrative templates, try to enable it on Windows Components, nothing happens;- Reset fingerprint settings into BIOS/ Security then F10, nothing happens;- Tried to recover Windows with keeping files, nothing happens. I've made some snapshots of what I'm explaining : Click on Set up fingerprint. Set with PIN already registered. I just have a cancel button and nothing else.Removed PIN before. Fingerprint device worksAdd New PINBut nothing was saved... I'm totally confused. Hey,  yesterday I received my S530-13IWL Notebook and it looks great. I bought it without an operation system so I used an USB stick with windows 10 to install it. So far no problems, touchpad working, keyboard working, WiFi working after downloaded the driver from Lenovo. But after everything was set up, I started so search for windows updates and it did download a lot of stuff and the pc had to restart. But after that, the keyboard stopped working. Sometimes at the start I can press FN + Space to enable and disable the keyboard lightning, other keys won't work. In device manager everything's fine but the PS/2 Keyboard. It says code 10 and sometimes code 12. After hours of googling I wasn't able to find a solution which is working. I've set the 'Start' value of the 'i8042prt' in regedit from 3 to 1 and installed windows again for a few times. The keyboard still isn't working. I've tried all drivers from this page (https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-s-series-netbooks/s530-13iw...) except for the BIOS driver. I read about disconnecting the battery but I don't want to open the case. An external keyboard is working. I need a notebook really quick and the lenovo S530 is already the second one after the first had problems with its fan and a pixel error. If there is no solution I have to send it back since there is no time for a repair.  Do one of you guys have any solution or hints for me? Than... Read more

Hi, Recently bought a T430 (Without Optimus). All's good except the Laptop Temp. The left Palm rest seems to get un usually warm, no matter what OS I am on. Its a dual boot by the way, Win 7 + Ubuntu 12.04.2. With Ubuntu or CentOS or Scientific Linux, the laptop gets unusually warm...The temp monitoring utility (lm_sensors) says that its at about 45 C. I get the same temp reading on Win 7 too, but somehow, the laptop just feels more warm with Linux than Win 7.As of right now, I am on Win 7 (for past 4-5) hours.....did some browsing, MS Sec Essentials did a full disk scan, I saw some youtube vids and was toying with some Perl Scripts, and the temp is at 45C, and the left palm rest is quite warm. Its warm enough that I have to stop typing every few minutes  Has anyone else noticed this issue? Is there a work around to this issue? Is there something I should worry about ? Please let me know. I installed the new updates a month ago. A:Thinkpad T430 gets significantly warm on Win 7 as well as Linux. How about a fellow T430 user ?

In my experience, Linux isn't as good with power management as Windows. 45 degrees sounds about right for a current-gen Intel processor due to Turbo Boost causing temperature spikes as you use your system normally. As for the warm left palmrest, the hard drive sits under there, so maybe the drive just tends to produce more heat. Assuming you have a conventional hard drive, give it a defrag to reduce operating stress (and hence power consumption and heat output).

I have a Thinkpad T430 type 23474W4 and a Thinkpad mini dock series 3 type 4338-15U. I already have a Lenovo LEN LS2223wC monitor hooked up to it through one of the DVI ports. I have a a Lenovo LT1952p Monitor that I would like to use as a second external monitor. Both monitors work individually through either DVI or VGA. However, I can't get them to both work at the same time no matter what configuration I use. I was told they didn't have to be identical monitors to work together. What am I doing wrong?

Hi. I have a Thinkpad x230.To escape from the issue of the lack of hard disk (128G, SSD), I decide to replace the old SSD hard drive with a new 1TB SSD. However, I don't know how to reinstall windows 10 on a new hard drive. The original OS on my laptop was Windosw 7 and I did free upgrade to Windows 10. I have only an original back up USB drive. No Windows 10 installation USB or CD. No Window 7 or 10 CD key. I can guess that I need a Windows 10 installation USB and a CD key which I don't have. Please advise me the procedure which I need to do to reinstall successfully. Thanks.

The fingerprint scan function stopped working yesterday for my computer. I googled for a solution and I found one I tried to follow it. One of the steps was to update the bios and I did and it worked for one hour or so and then stopped working again. I couldn't do the other steps at all since I don't have anything software called Lenovo fingerprint manager pro on my computer and I can't find it anywhere online for Windows 10 either. Does anyone else has the same problem as me?

Hi,I recently reinstalled my laptop to proxmox (runs on Debian) this was just a 'test' but i didn't even run a VM on it,1month later I reinstalled to Windows 7 as before (WiFi worked before reinstall to proxmox, I have no idea if it was working running proxmox) I also installed windows 8,1 on it and tried some other windows 7 version's,I also tried an external WiFi adaptor but this also didn't help, I had some network cards of other laptop's and i tried those 4 of the 4 failed and the 1 of 1 external also failed, When i try using Cable it does work at 1gbps, So there is no problem with the laptop its only just the WiFi, I also tried drivers on windows 7 and 8,1, This didn't help.I hope someone can help me out .Regards,Yoloserver

Hello, I'm new to this so I'm not sure exactly what to put, but help would be greatly appreciated.

I run an hp with windows vista 64 bit

A few months ago iTunes stopped working on me. I tried over and over to uninstall and reinstall the program since i use it daily. After getting errors after errors I gave up. Yesterday I tried again, with no success. After loading the installer, it gets partway through and then stops telling me that it cannot complete the installation. There is some strange error message that I don't understand. I have no other versions of itunes or quicktime on my computer, so I do not understand why it won't install.... Thoughts? Suggestions? Your help would amazing.

Sincerely, iPod needs updated music

A:iTunes stopped working and will not reinstall

So uninstalling works fine but reinstalling doesn't? Could you post the error message? that might help a bit
and have you closed all other windows while installing?

Hi all, I'm hoping somebody can help me.

Yesterday I received a new Samsung SATA 320GB hard drive. My PC (running XP) already containes a 250GB IDE drive. I installed the SATA drive with no problems initially, then copied all my important files over onto it.

I decided to take this opportunity to format the IDE drive and reinstall Windows XP (SP2). (I unplugged the SATA drive data cable for this, to avoid accidentally writing over any data!)

After doing so succesfully, I then re-connected that SATA drive, only to find Windows doesn't recognise it. Now when I go into 'My Computer', the SATA drive shows as drive 'Local Disk (F:)' but when I try to open it I get the following message:

'The disk in drive F: is not formatted. Do you want to format it now?'

Obviously I clicked 'no'. Also when I right-click properties, it reports as 0 bytes used, 0 bytes free.

Also, I have just noticed that in disk management, the disk is showing as two partitions one at 128 GB (F: drive) and the other 207.35GB (unallocated).

Can anybody help? Thanks in advance! Even if anybody knows a way to simply recover the data, I could then re-format it and start again.

A:SATA HD stopped working after XP reinstall?

dont try this as im not super with sata drives..but me being me i would allocate the remaining space..

like i said dont risk it..wait till someone like vladimirb or dunedin..obviously smarter :P

but if it wasnt partitioned...i dont see why it is now..
