B590 - Main screen not working with Windows 10

Q: B590 - Main screen not working with Windows 10

Hi. I just updated to Windows 10. The first time it start it worked fine, but today the main screen is not working. During the start up i can see the Lenovo logo on the main screen, after that the screen turns black. The external screen works. It looks like Windows doesn't detect the main screen, because on the device manager only shows 1 screen (the external one)! 've disconnected the external screen and i've done a screen capture, then no screens are shown on the device manager:

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello and thanks in advance for your help! My friend has a Lenovo B590 notebook and couple weeks back it upgraded from Win 8.1 to 10 by itself. Now she's unable to connect to the Internet, but connecting to different Wi-fi networks works okay. We've tried to look for B590 specific Wi-fi drivers but couldn't find any. We're not especially tech savvy so we'd be most pleased if someone gave us in detail instructions on how to solve this problem. Thanks!

Hi folks!Unfortunately, my 2 year old pushed some buttons on my Lenovo B590 laptop and something isn't right. Upon start up (Windows 7 64), I get a black screen with a moving cursor. Ctrl+alt+del doesn't bring up the task manager.I double checked the boot order in BIOS and that looks OK.Restarting in Safe mode works.I also updated the video drivers, and (strangely) I was able to restart in normal and everything looked fine. However, when I restarted again after that, I was back to the black screen in Normal.I've been Googling all morning, and done what I've found. If anyone else has any other suggestions, I'd be grateful for them. And if you have any questions for me, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!

After many and many trials to get this to work I finally decided to register here and ask for help because I got really mad.

Here is what happens:
1. I burned a Windows 7 32bit installation to a DVD and It works as it should.
2. I have set the boot priority to CD/DVD in BIOS.
3. I put the DVD in drive and when it says 'press any key to boot from cd' i press enter and it starts filling the bar which says 'loading windows' or something like that but It works properly, then it loads another time which goes a little slower but it works too.
4. After these bars are finished loading it goes to the windows loading screen with Windows 7 colorful logo and it finishes that.
5. Now I see the default Windows 7 blue background and my mouse pointer which works but there is nothing else, I know that I should get a box which asks me to select language but I don't get that at all...
6. After some time waiting at the blue screen about 2 minutes, my PC restarts and when I repeat the process it does it again...

Here is what I tried:
-Updated BIOS
-Set BIOS back to Default
-Disconnected my mouse and keyboard (tried all slots and combinations)
-Tried installing from an original Windows 7 DVD
-Tried installing from desktop
-Tried installing from other HDD

You can check the attachment for my DxDiag info.
Also I'm planning to do a clean install but I can't even start to format my HDD because It doesn't show anything.

I have been having issues with the screen on a B590 Laptop for while, where it would get strange visuals, like every otherline would be washed out, or it would have horizontal bars.  And it would need something pressed against the bottom right of the screen to look normal.  The issues happen during the bootup screen before windows as well. When its not supported just rightWhen a pen is inserted on the right part of the hingeAfter removing the pen while onWhile ordering a replacement panel for screen I was advised that the cable might be the faulty part and that a panel would likely do nothing, seeing as when the panel was removed from the bezel with the ribbon cable in a slack position it worked fine.  If necessary is the display cable/ribbon connector for this laptop, B590 with a 1366x768 display and model 20208, available?

A:Windows 8.1 Turns on to main screen but unable to open

Firstly try to restart your computer from Windows. If you still have the same problem, then try to download a new web browser and Malware Bytes from another computer. If you have any suspicion that you computer has a (e.g. you have visited a insecure website) virus, then scan the whole computer firstly with Malware Bytes and secondly with Windows Defender (built in to Windows).

You can try and uninstall the two web browsers (Chrome and IE) and try to install a web browser of your choice. Please keep me updated if you have any further questions.

ok this has been going for for FAR TOO long this is the final FUC*** moment
what i have found out/tried so far in my 2 years of observing/trying to solve this issue:
reseating the RAM results in 2-4 weeks of BSOD-Error free experience, but after that the "Nvlddmkm" BSOD/Freezing/Black screen RETURNS
purchased a new graphics card, this resulted in 2-3 MONTHS of BSOD-Error free experience but after that yes "Nvlddmkm" BSOD's etc RETURNED!
new ram also did NOT Help and i have run a memory test
system restored
old/new nvidia drivers with DDU
msconfig unchecked all startup items
tried safemode and it does not bsod
ran harddisk check
mbam full scan hasn't found anything and haven't been infected in years
Current Problems:
BSoD's (culprit being blamed on "nvlddmkm.sys"
Black Screen (This can sometimes happen instead of the BSoD) and might appear at startup too (not always)
Gaming / Audio STUTTERING /
nvidia gtx 960 / i7 950
windows 7 / 8gb ram
motherboard : GA-X58A-UD3R
For some reason .DMP are NOT being produced!
HOWEVER they are available at C:\Windows\LiveKernelReports\WATCHDOG (which is what iv'e uploaded/attached)
either way i have now installed "kb2716542" which will hopefully fix the no dump issue from now

I posted about this yesterday (link) and thought it was resolved, but it isn't. My 2 year old pushed some buttons on my Lenovo B590 laptop and upon start up (Windows 7 Professional 64), I get a black screen with a moving cursor. Ctrl+alt+del doesn't bring up the task manager.  Restarting in Safe Mode works fine.I double checked the boot order in BIOS and that looks OK.I also updated the video drivers, and (strangely) I was able to restart once in Normal and everything looked fine. However, when I restarted again after that, I was back to the black screen in Normal.  Yesterday, I disable the auto updating of drivers (per these instructions) and tried re-installing the drivers.  It didn't work.  So I uninstalled the video drivers, and then I was able to restart the machine several times normally, so I thought the problem was fixed. It was back this morning, though.  I also tried disabling all the stuff (AVG, drop box, etc.) that runs on startup, but that didn't help. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just tried re-installing the video drivers (because I had left it w/o them where I last stood).  I got an error, so I undid the changes I made yesterday when I disabled the autoupdating of drivers, but I still get an error when I try to install the driver. Specifically, it says "The setup program failed to install one or more device drivers.  Setup will exit." At this point, I'm starting to lean towards reformatting and re-installing Windows...

I have been running dual screen setup for awhile now and early on I realized that I had to set the monitor on the left to the 'Main Display' so that tiled wide resolution images would span across both monitors.

How might one set the main display to the right hand monitor while having the image for the wallpaper start on the far left corner?

I recently bought Lenovo B590 laptop, installed Windows 8.1 Pro on it, downloaded/installed latest drivers from Lenovo from my laptop. I see a quite a lot blue screen errors. Most likely these started to appear after I installed and played "return to ravenhearst" game. But even I have uninstalled the game I still get the errors.

I downloaded test tools (memory, vide, motherboard, pci express) from Lenovo websites but they could not locate any problem (I ran these tests only once for a single pass).

I also executed "sfc /verifyonly" command and it found no problem.

Mini dumps are attached in zip foramt. Can someone please have a look at them and pin point the problem?

Please provide this information so we can provide a complete analysis (from the Pinned Topic at the top of the forum): Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions Please use Option 1 as it provides Event Viewer logs.

Can you please provide links to the page(s) where you got the Lenovo tests? I'm not familiar with them and would like to see how they compare with the tests I recommend.

For starters:

At work we start all repairs with a set of diagnostics. Often they find problems that weren't even expected. It's a waste of time to try to fix software on a system that has hardware problems.
Please try these free diagnostics for starters: Initial Hardware Diagnostics
Also, please ensure that you have ALL available Windows Updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Out of 5 memory dumps there were 4 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnost... Read more

Hi all,

Heres a corker of an issue.

Im running a Desktop PC with dual monitors and have recently added a Trust Tablet for photo work.

Trouble was the tablet only ever worked on my second monitor and not the main one. After some googling I found a potential solution which involved going to

Control Panel>Tablet PC Settings and then changing the screen mapping.

So I head in and have a look around, all I could find that looked possible was the setting under the Display tab which was currently set as Primary Landscape. So I changed it to "Secondary Landscape".

At the point of hitting Apply my screen went black with only my cursor showing (which was now upside down). Now my mouse is inverted and the only time I can see any Window is by hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del which takes me to the usual menu but upside down, hitting any option including task Manager simply reverts back to a blank screen.

Ive tried switching off and on but still the same, on boot up it seems to be fine until the login screen which is inverted again.

A:Flipped screen and black on all but main screen

Try booting into Safe Mode (repeatedly hitting the F8 key during bootup until the screen appear and then selecting Safe Mode) and see if you have the same problem. If so, we may need that later and you can do the following procedure from there without needing to boot to a disk.

Do you know when this problem began (when you made that change)? Try a System Restore to a point in time BEFORE the problem began. Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-system-restore-how.html. Be sure to check the box to show more than 5 days of restore points. If the first attempt fails, then try an earlier point or two. NOTE: You will have to re-install any software and updates you installed between now and the restore point, but you can use Windows Update for the updates. Use the recovery disk if the system prompt doesn’t work. The recovery disk works a bit different from the above procedures but if you follow the prompts from the System Restore menu option with the above information you should be able to restore with no problems.

If the System Restore doesn't work, do a Startup Repair by booting to the genuine Windows Vista Installation Disk (or one you can borrow from ANYONE) or from a Recovery Disk with recovery options included on it. Here's the procedure: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/91467-startup-repair.html. To boot to the CD you may need to change the BIOS to make the CD-drive first in the boot sequence. To do that, wait for the screen that tells you t... Read more

So, suddenly last night while watching YouTube my computer crashed, first still hearing the sound of the video but screen shut of, and then it completely turned off. Restarted it, and the computer itself works but the screens won't connect with the computer with the ordinary HDMI and DVI input to my GTX 1080 gpu.

So I wondered what the issue may been so I disconnected all the cables, including the screens and reconnect them incase it was some sort of loose cables. But still no luck. So I changed the HDMI cable to the external hdmi input to the external intel gpu, and it worked. Any way to fix or is it something wrong with the gpu/the hdmi contacts?

A problem just started the other day that has me puzzled. The Aero effects on my desktop/themes have quit working but only for the Admin user on my desktop. On another account it seems to work OK.
It's currently running Win 7 Home Premium. It had been working fine until now. I installed a new motherboard a few weeks ago with no issue. The only other thing is that I've gotten a quick blip of a message when starting up that says Windows couldn't connect to a service, but it disappears so quickly I can't read all of it.
When I try to apply a new Aero theme all of the options are greyed out.
Here's what I've done so far:
uninstalled nvidia drivers and updated to latest version
run the scannow utility (no errors)
updated my Windows Experience - saw no changes in score
ran the Aero troubleshooter with no effect
As everything seems to be working ok otherwise I'm just considering this as an annoyance but I'd appreciate any help.

A:Aero no longer working for main user?

Have you run the Aero Troubleshooter In Windows 7
(Start button/Control Panel. In the search box, type Troubleshooter, click Troubleshooting,
and then, under Appearance and Personalization, click Display Aero desktop effects.)
Or did you try the Fixit below.
I don't know if there is any difference.

Recently I worked with Spybot Search & Destroy forum support to remove a nasty malware problem that was causing ad pop-ups to come up randomly and also turn down my volume control to zero. That problem has gone away and everything was working fine. The support person then had me do some final cleanup and other suggestions to stop future infections. Somewhere in this process the volume control icon disappeared from my system tray. I can still look up the volume control in the Control Panel and it says that it is there using Sigma Tel audio. The check mark is in place that says that the volume control should appear in the system tray. Also, I can play music on iTunes but if I try to open up an mp3 file in Windows Media Player it says that I am missing the CODEC to run this file. Some online radio stations that I listen to that have their own on-site player do not work anymore. One site that still works in WMP first says it is downloading CODECs before it begins playing. I also noticed that when I boot up the Microsoft boot-up sound no longer plays. I figure I'm missing the main file that contains the Microsoft CODECs, but hopefully you can help with this.

When I turn my computer on, it now loads faster and when I am on my main screen there are no apps that come up now. It was in sleep more earlier last night and when I went back on it was just a black screen and I couldnt turn it off. No matter how long I left it for it to refresh the black screen stayed. I tried manually shutting it down and all it would do is go in to sleep mode. So I had to pull the battery. After doing so, it was a slow reboot and then did it again of black screen. I was able to turn it off right. I let it set and rebooted and thats when it started loading quicker but no main apps on main screen to click on. I think I need to do a manufacturing reset but I cant seem to figure it out.

A:[resolved]main screen when gone weird.

It sounds to me like your resolution may have changed for some reason. Some games will change your resolution automatically, but that doesn't mean that the display will always fit your monitor perfectly. Play around with the size settings on your monitor until it fits, or you can change the resolution by right clicking on your desktop and choosing "Properties". Click the Settings tab, and change the slider labeled "Screen resolution" until you are back to normal.
