Lenovo Ideapad 510 Memory Upgrade question

Q: Lenovo Ideapad 510 Memory Upgrade question

Hi all! I'm about to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad 510 15 80SV00L1HV, and i have read that it is possible to upgrade to Memory (RAM) up to 12 GB. My question is that if i do it at home, not at a service, do i lost the warranty, or it is possible to upgrade the RAM at home, while keeping the warranty. I really don't want to lose the warranty, but 4GB RAM is not enough for me and i know that it is not hard to do it at home. Thanks for the answers.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Your hardware maintenance manual is here:https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_110-14_15isk_hmm_201607.pdfPage 27 states 8GB max, 1 memory slot, DDR4-2133MHZ.You have 4GB memory soldered on the board.Page 72, item 10 shows OEM memory. I see 2GB and 4GB offerings to the memory slot. Thus a total of 6GB or 8GB(includes the soldered 4GB).  You would have to contact Cruical as to adding 16GB to the memory slot.

A:Lenovo Ideapad y510p - memory upgrade

They're RAM sticks, not cards, and they're fairly easy to change out. I would suggest looking for something in the 1866mhz speed, though I think you need lower voltage memory. So I'd get something 1.35v or lower.

not long ago i've bought spare parts to my leptop and attended to replace them on my leptop
but when i've started to replace the parts iv'e notice that on my older upper case (the plastic that holds the keyboard and the toch-pad)
has an exstra part(greeen board that attached to the toch-pad from behind) so i thought thats a necesery part to the toch-pad and eventualy dident replace it so enyone maybe could tell my how to separete this green board and how to pin it to the new upper case cause as far that i could see this board attached to the old toch-pad

i'd love an answer as soon as possible

A:Lenovo Ideapad G50-80: upgrade question

Hi lidor2585,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Would you have similar board on the new upper case that you ordered?

Checking on part number 90205216 upper case ACLU2 Upper Case Black L W/LEDSPG TPCB show similar green board for the touchpad that goes with the upper case.

Replacing the entire upper case includes replacing the same board so there should be no need to remove it as it is expected that it is included on the new upper case. For the same reason why the hardware manual do not offer specific instruction on touchpad board removal.

I hope this heps answer your query.
Update us how it goes on your end.

I ran the Lenovo Solution Center program on my Lenovo Ideapad 320-17IKB model 80 XM and it informs me of the following: Total memory = 8 GBMaximum Supported Memory = 32 GB Now, that's by Lenovo so I trust it.  I recognize that there are 4 GB of memory soldered in and there is a card with 4 GB of "replaceable" DDR4 memory installed. My question is whether I can install a 32 GB "replaceable" type DDR4 RAM card within?  OR whether that exceeds the "maximum supported memory" specification?  I do not know of amy 28 GB DDR4 RAM cars so I'm a bit confused?   I guess it boils down to what "Maximum Supported Memory" means?  Does it mean maximum supported "replaceable" memory?   PS-See image attached for Lenovo Solution Center info.

I am generally a Mac user, but wanted a PC to run a few apps I can't run on my Mac, and didn't want to partition my drive and use Boot Camp (I'd done this previously, and chose not to do it this time). A few days ago I purchased a Lenovo 110-15ISK laptop, model number 80UD0017US. I had been looking at an HP laptop, but read that it was not so user friendly when upgrading the RAM and hard drive, and passed on that one (for that specific reason), and saw this Lenovo in the local Best Buy on sale. I usually check things out pretty throughly before I purchase, but I have to admit, I didn't on this purchase. Although the laptop is nice, I was not pleased to find out that you pretty much have to disassemble half of the computer to be able to access the memory and hard drive. Not exactly what I was hoping for. Anyway, I've decided to leave the hard drive as is, since it's a 1TB (although I prefer SSD and upgraded my MacBook Pro to an SSD on day 1 and love it!). However, I definitely want to upgrade the RAM from 4GB. I was a little horrified to find out that the 4GB is soldered onto the motherboard, and that there's only one available slot for RAM. I've read up a bit on it, on both this forum and through Google and Bing searches, and it seems there are differing opinions on how much RAM this model can accept and still be stable. Some say it can take as much as a 16GB DDR4 stick bringing the memory up to 20GB, and some say that the max is a 4GB stick, bringing the RAM u... Read more

Hi sirs. i have a problem with frequencies, recently i acquires an Lenovo IdeaPad 320-15IKB (7200U, 940MX, FHD), the problem it's have an internal memory ddr4 2133 mhz 4gb. The memory it's on board "solded" and it's frequency is 2133 . Aditionally i bought a 8gb of ram and 2133 mhz frec. memory. But this is not a problem. ¿Right? So, it's not the end of this beautifull history. The problem it's when i recibed the memory, i get a so-dim with 8gb of ram and 2400 mhz frec., yes, my sender send a diferent frequency memory. So finally, the question it's. ¿What can i do? ¿Can i disable on-board memory? ¿ The laptop can work with this two tipes of frec.? ¿Or i can't do anything now and try to use that memory as a souvenier?Thank y 4 wachin

Hello I have a Lenovo Ideapad 310-14ISK with Intel Core i3-6100U and 4 GB of RAM. It has one free slot for additional RAM, and I would like to know if it is possible to have it running in dual channel.  I have read this post, and I have read the linked article. I am in the group where there is a real advantage using dual channel memory. From what I know, the memories should be equal to be able to run in dual channel. Gladly, the software Lenovo Companion shows the exact model of the RAM memory which is soldered (Samsung M471A5244BB0-CPB). With this information, I have searched the code of the memory on internet and found this product guide. Searcing further, I have found this exact model, DDR4-SODIMM 2133 MHz, thoretically the same model.  To get dual channel functional, have I to purchase the Samsung M471A5244BB0-CPB or it is possible with a different memory? If it was possible with a 8 GB, 16 GB or (in future) 32 GB component it would be even better. Thank you.

Since you have not indicated the processor used I can't give you much detail. If you base it only on the specs you can only use 2 sticks or module with a max rating of 1333 Mhz each depending on the processor. As to the other specs details you have to locate the specs of the processor that you are using in the intel site. There you will know whether you can use 1600 Mhz plus other details. One thing for sure is that the max that you can use is 16 GB only if the processor allows it since you can't find a 16 GB module in the market to achieve 32 GB per processor spec.

Welcome to the Community Forums.

For models 80BG, you most likely have the 4BG soldered onboard so you can add any 8 GB 2133MHz DDR4 or a 4GB to match your current soldered RAM.

You can check recommended ram from the parts lookup page here.
Directions as described here on the hardware manual page 41.

Looking into buying the Lenovo Ideapad 510s, I see "Up to 8GB" listed as supported memory. However, I've done some research and some Lenovo laptops, while they also only support 8GB of memory officially, can be and have been safely upgraded to 16 GB of RAM. My question is: Is this true of the 510s? The CPU specifications page from Intel for the 6200U/6500U both say 16 GB is no problem, and Crucial even has a 16GB dimm listed as "guaranteed compatible" for this model--I'm not sure, though, if this means it will work but only recognize 8 GB or if 16 GB is truly Ok. Is there any reason 16 GB could not be used? Perhaps some motherboard memory controller limitation? I would love to have some input on this before deciding on whether or not to purchase this laptop. Thanks!
