Windows Installation Error # 1001

Q: Windows Installation Error # 1001

Hello BleepingComputer, I am having a difficult time tracking down the cause of the failure of a program to re-install. the program is Wikitup dictionary. Previously, I have had problems with this program in the form of it not starting correctly; it uninstalls only with
difficulty. The problem now, however, is different. I am now receiving the following error message: Error 1001-On/AfterInstall event
handler of wikilon.installerHelper-value cannot be null> Parameter name: xml. I thought that the problem may be with Windows installer but I have been able to install other programs without any problems. The announcement of "value cannot be null" seems as though something
was changed somewhere; if it was, it was not by me as I would not know a line of computer code if it was in front of me. I've tried a restore point, tried retrieving the app from my back-up, tried downloading it from other (third-party) sites all to no avail. This program
works very well when it works and I consider it one of the best at what it does so giving up on it is not worth considering. I have had to
perform a complete system restore (wipe) of my computer in times past, and when I re-installed this app it always operates properly; it's
only when I have had to un-install and re-install it that this problem occurs. It's as though the program leaves some sort of marker on
my machine after an un-install that gets in the way of it's re-installation. Note-I have thought of the possibility of a "stuck" register
fragment and I have used two different register cleaners but the problem persists. Please help me find the solution and thank you.

Preferred Solution: Windows Installation Error # 1001

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If your problem is with an uninstalled program leaving remnants behind, I suggest you use Revo Uninstaller to completely uninstall it. A lot of us use it. It's very useful. It does what Add/Remove Programs won't do.

I have configured a server with Windows Small Business Server 2003. I have set it up to run using a workgroup and not domain. Now periodically the server shutsdown on its own listing the above mentioned Event ID which indicate that ;

"this computer must be configured as a domain controller"

Microsoft's description states that this is the cause of the servers operating system integrated setup was not complete. This is the only server on the network and otherwise the network itself has been running fine outside of the periodic shutdowns.

My question is how can this be done now after the fact and what dtepsd must be taken?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Unable to edit query SQL when there is a where clause but no group by without getting the -1001 error.

Example:  This query is fine.
SELECT DISTINCT BB1.StudentID, Table43.Booking_date, Table43.Session
FROM BB1 INNER JOIN Table43 ON BB1.StudentID = Table43.StudentID
WHERE (((Table43.Session)="230"));
But if I simply enter the SQL editor (and don't even make a change), I can not save it without the Reserved -1001 error popup even if it was already saved as is earlier.  Apparently it needs notation like
SELECT DISTINCT [BB1].[StudentID], [Table43].[Booking_date], [Table43].[Session]
FROM BB1 INNER JOIN Table43 ON [BB1].[StudentID] = [Table43].[StudentID]
WHERE ((([Table43].[Session])="230"));
in order to be accepted. In particular the [] around the field before the FROM
SELECT DISTINCT [BB1].[StudentID], [Table43].[Booking_date], [Table43].Session
FROM BB1 INNER JOIN [Table43] ON BB1.[StudentID] = Table43.[StudentID]
WHERE ((([Table43].[Session])="230"));
is no good, but
SELECT DISTINCT [BB1].[StudentID], [Table43].[Booking_date], [Table43].[Session]
FROM BB1 INNER JOIN [Table43] ON BB1.[StudentID] = Table43.[StudentID]
WHERE ((([Table43].[Session])="230"));
will work.

Hi, I cannot uninstall, repair, or install Virtual Router v0.9 Beta. Codeplex does not respond at all to the 1001 error, as I have seen from some posts over a year old. I would like to remove it, and I believe the error originated after a system restore.During Uninstall attemptError 1001. Exception occurred while initializing the installation:System.IO.FileNotFoundException:Could not load file or assembly 'file:///D:\Program Files (x86)\VirtualRouterService.exe' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.I hit ok, and then it says to close.During Repair attemptError 1001. The specified service already exists >>>> I then hit okay and this pops up:Error 1001. Could not find file 'D:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual Router\VirtualRouterClient.InstallState'. >>>I then hit close to exit.I imagine the solution to be to install it on another computer and copy the files onto my current via a flash drive, however I do not have the resources necessary to do this. Not having much faith in finding the answer to this, since quite a few people have reported this. I've seen about a dozen threads, some having no suggestions, others have suggestions, but none of them have worked for us. We have a few Zbooks, Windows 7 Profesional, and we cannot get Disk Security to install. Gives error 1001. Disabled AntiVirus. Booted into safe mode. Uninstalled any conflicting HP software, still no go. Spent two hours on chat with HP yesterday, tech unisntalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, reinstalled, etc over and over. I finally gave up as I was sick of having to keep logging back in after each reboot. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hi all and thanks for your help in advance. This problem is driving me nuts. Did a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit on a Packardbell Easynote TE69, all was running fine for a while but then on shutdown/restart I would get a hang that would last for 5 minutes or so. When the system was turned back on I would occasionally see a BSOD flash up, every time after the hang I would get the "Your system has recovered from an unexpected shutdown message" with error code 0x0000009f. Googling has turned up little. I have found the same error codes in event viewer in relation to Bugcheck under event ID 1001. Driver Power State Failure pops up loads when searching and so does updating my Wi-fi driver which I have done but no change. The only other symptom is that my usb mouse only works intermittently, I have tried several new ones, but the problem remains. I have attached my minidump file. Any help would be awesome. Thank you.

Hi Snaski.

It is some display/graphics related issue.

Are you overclocking? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.

Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

I am randomly getting this BSOD. Sometimes the PC is only on for around 5 minutes, sometimes it happens after the PC has been on for a few hours or even days. No matter if I'm on the Internet or not, creating documents, virus scanning, or just at idle time. Happens anytime. Here is the BSOD specifics from the Event Viewer Bugcheck:

Intel Core 2 QX9650 3.0GHz QuadCore Processor (no overclocking)

I always keep all software & drivers for everything updated, especially the NVidia drivers & Windows Updates. I kind of suspect the problem may be with the NVidia graphics cards or drivers, not sure tho. Could possibly be the Norton Internet Security. Enclosed is the .zip folder. Your reports are hinting at a driver, lets try to ascertain which one or if it is indeed a driver.
Driver Verifier
I'd suggest that you first backup your data and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Windows 7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the dr... Read more

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place.
two hardware
Your .dmp file shows a stop error of 0x124 which is a general hardware error .

A "stop 0x124" is fundamentally different to many other types of bluescreens because it stems from a hardware complaint.

Stop 0x124 minidumps contain very little practical information, and it is therefore necessary to approach the problem as a case of hardware in an unknown state of distress.

I've been having this problem for a couple of months, and it's recently gotten to at least 1 blue screen a day, to 1 every other day. I know nothing about the inner workings of my computer, and it can't be overheating because I have my tower in an optimal position with a fan blowing on it.
It always seems to go when I'm listening to streaming music, but this has always been a daily process. I listen to music through the Pandora Internet Radio, talk to a friend on a pixelated 2D game, and I run MSN Messenger to talk to another friend. It's really starting to worry me, I don't want my computer to fail completely on me.
My brother-in-law couldn't seem to help, either, even though he's studied computers for a couple years and he's upgraded his own several times before in the past.
Is it a simple matter of needing to do updates? Or is it something more severe where I need to download this and that to fix it? I'm hoping for the former, but that's why I'm here, to seek help with the issue.

I had tried from the early win10 early betas to upgrade from win 8.1 pro 64 bit. I continually got
the error: "The installation failed in the SECOND_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation" and the code "Error 0x8007002C - 0x4000D". I had tried the fixes recommending by microsoft, including disabling/unistalling antivirus(Bitdefender), removing unneeded peripherals, scanning system files, to no avail. After months of trying various builds, including the final, no luck. I had tried upgrading via iso and windows update. Every time the installation hung at the same spot 86 percent. However, I was finally able to get build 1511 11082 to install. Now, however, my concern is the expiration date in July 2016. I have tried unsuccesfuly via windows update and iso files to upgrade to newer release preview versions, however the error message returns(installation hangs at 86 percent) and the system rolls back to my current version of win 10. Any help or suggestion would be appreciated. Homebuilt PC, fx6850 cpu, asus m5a99fx board. I am able to clean install with no problems.

Ok . I have an HP dv6646us and there is NO OS INSTALED. Oh don't get me wrong I know how to fix that error but the problem is, is that whenever Iget to the formatting process of windows 7 installation it literally freezes and tiles itself with blue lines or something. NO THR RAM AND HDD IS NOT CORRUPTED/BROKEN I have ran multiple tests. The error from formatting is x80070057 and I have tried EVERY SINGLE DISKPART AND BOOTSEC COMMANDS ON THE INTERNET. I have also tried startup repair etc. I booted gparted and it said "Your PNP bios is causing a fatal error" I can't even install a Linux Debian without the formatting process freezing. I also tried booting from CD but it doesn't boot from CD. THE BIOS HAS NO OPTION TO CHANGE AHCII or something like that. I conclude that the bios needs to be updated but I cant do it without a windows Os. There have been over 7 versions of the HP dv 66466us and the change log even states it fixes these problems. The bios comes in a self extracting exe. There is no .bin file. I don't know of its possible to flash the bios with usb without a .bin or something If you have any suggestions please do post. My final plan is to find a hard drive with windows on it, replace the bios. If you guys have any info I coul d use please post

Without seeing the minidumps this is your error per auhma.org:

0x00000027: RDR_FILE_SYSTEM
This is a rare and fairly obscure error condition. Memory management issues can be one cause, and adding additional RAM commonly will resolve this version of the problem.

I'm posting regarding my laptop an Asus k40ij with Vista Business currently installed. I've been having alot of problems with Windows 7 and the laptop. It was sent in for repair twice in the past couple of months to try and solve these problems and I just got it back from the second repair attempt. Unfortunately I can no longer even install Windows 7 it errors part way through.

The error I get is 0x80070570. It tells me it failed to install required files please restart the installation. This happens when booting from the disk, when trying a clean install from the desktop and when trying to upgrade. It occurs with both copies of Windows 7 that I have. The purchased one that is an "official" Windows copy and the one provided from the laptop manufacturer. It is upgrade media. I've previously used both disks to install Windows 7 and have been successful.

The error occurs right at the extracting files part. Initially it was happening at the very beginning before the installation even started. The tech support was completely useless and suggested it was an issue with the disks. This doesn't make much sense to me as I've used the two disks successfully in the past, and it's not only one disk that's having the issue. Not to mention they aren't an ISO I burned they're the one provided by the manufacturer and the store bought one. I tried updating the BIOS and it was already in it's most up to date form. Tried updating all the drivers before hand too none o... Read more

I know that there is a lot of thread like this one but i still didn't figure out...

I searched google and was trying to fix it but still i got nothing I am doing this for 3 days now

Ok now the problem. When i'm installing windows after i press intall now a screen pops out.

To install the device driver needed to access your hard drive, insert the installation media containing the driver files, and then click OK.

Note: The installation media can be a floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive.

So i press OK and RESCAN another thing pops out

No signed device drivers were found. Make sure the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK.

Now i have no idea what to do next. I think it need SATA drivers but i can't find them anywhere. I don't have any disks with drivers.
For now i'm stuck on WinXP.

I've been recently trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I've tried doing many different procedures hoping for the best. I've determined my HDD is not defective, the installation disc is just fine as well. Hopefully I'm posting this in the right section of the forums.

Here is some more information which will give you an idea of what my problem could be:
Motherboard: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO
Memory: G-Skill Ripjaws 1333Mhz 2x4GB

I've done a clean install of 32 bit Windows 7 Home Premium and it worked just fine, but for some reason 64bit isn't wanting to install properly. Not to mention I even failed installing 32bit for a second time. It gives me error code 0x80070570 which I researched a bit and tried a few things but I couldn't find the problem. In BIOS I attempted to change SATA configuration to AHCI, but when I reached boot menu it still said IDE (default).

I have 2 possibilities to be my problem (ones I thought of).

1. A defective memory module
I wouldn't like to resort to buying a new one unless I'm positive that's the only way.

2. Something wrong with my BIOS sata configuration.
I'm not sure if this is possible but it could be.

I've checked all my hardware and all the SATA cables seem to be fine and everything else in place. Hopefully I will be able to install Windows 7 soon .

I'm attempting to re-install my Windows 7 using disc which I've downloaded the iso version of then used imgBurn to mount it on to a DVD. I forget exactly which step this is but it's the part where when you click "Install Windows" and it starts extracting then it reboots the computer. At that part, after it goes through the loading screen, it gives an error (instead of bring me to the login page). The error says:

File: \$WINDOWS.~BT\Windows\system32\kdcom.dll
Status: 0xc0000098
Info: Windows failed to load because the kernel debugger DLL is missing or corrupt.

The windows I am attempting to install is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and the downloaded iso contains the same version for it with sp1 included. Is this my computer causing the problem or is the cd a defect and getting a new one would fix it? (If so, where can I find a reliable one, I've downloaded a few already and failed a few times...)

Thanks in advance!
