I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You shouldn't buy the A720 now... For two main reasons... A720 doesn't work as it shoud with windows 8. Secondly, Lenovo just anounced A730, with better screen resolution, windows 8 installed. You really should wait for the A730, which will start to ship at June...

The Bluetooth driver that is supplied from support.lenovo.com does not enable Bluetooth on the IdeaCentre A720. After installing the driver, there are no bluetooth adapters listed in the Device Manager, the software never popualtes the tasktray. I've attempted using the drivers direct from Broadcom's website, which appear to be the same driver. Neither enable bluetooth on an IdeaCentre A720. This worked previously on Windows 8.0, prior to my Windows 8.1 upgrade. Please update me on a fix or refreshed driver to properly enable bluetooth.

Hi, I'd like to replace my Samsung SSD 830 msata drive currently installed on my Dell 8500 PC with a Samsung SSD 850 msata drive, replacing the 830 on the mother board.
The installation seemed pretty simple until I noticed there are two small wires connected to the 830 next to the screw holes. What are they for? My 850 doesn't seem to have a place to connect them...
Also, can I use a USB-to-msata cable to copy the 830 to the 850 rather than reinstall the opsys and programs?
 Thanks

I have upgraded my laptop from the original Windows 7 to Windows 10 and would like some advice about the configuration of the mSata SSD.  My understanding of the situation is that the mSata drive is (or at least should be!) configured effectively as a cache for the C drive, storing the most frequently used files and therefore offering some of the benefits of an SSD whilst at the same time keeping the storage capacity of a conventional hard disk drive - in much the same way as Seagate did with their Momentus XT drives.
Following the Windows 10 upgrade, I am not sure that the mSata drive is still working as it should and I can find no documentation to assist me on the subject. Also, since the price of mSata SSDs has dropped substantially, I would like to consider the option of replacing the existing 32Gb SSD with a bigger one - say 128Gb, which at least in theory should give a very useful speed boost cost effectively.
Can anyone provide any further advice on the configuration of the mSata on the 7720, and whether what I am proposing is actually a feasible option?
Many thanks.

A:Inspiron 17R SE 7720 - Checking configuration of mSata drive following Windows 10 upgrade.

Upgrading to Windows 10 generally breaks IRST, which then must be reconfigured (see below).
Yes, a native SSD is far faster than even a hybrid setup -- but 128 G is very confining for use as a boot drive.  Consider 256G a more practical minimum size for a Windows boot partition.  Also remember that the mSATA interface in this system is 3G, not 6G -- so you won't get the full speed boost you would from installing a 6G SATA 2.5" SSD in place of the hard drive.
It's also true that mSATA (which this system uses) is now obsolete technology - it's being rapidly supplanted by M.2 form factor drives (which your system cannot use).
This is the documentation for installing IRST

Looking at installing a Samsung 850 pro ssd 500Gb as the main OS drive.  It looks as though I'm limited on space in the back! I'm thinking the 2Tb drive can go into an external caddy for data downloads. If I get a second 2.5" HDD (non SSD) as a data drive; firstly is there room for two 2.5" drives and second are there enough sata headers on the motherboard to plug two drives in? Thanks in advance to anyone with insight here

After upgrading to Windows 10 a while back, I have noticed that my MSATA SSD 24GB is not being used anymore for caching (I'm assuming this is what it was orginally used for) I'm wondering how to get it back in use again and how to use it as a drive for storage. (Ideally I would upgrade it to a 256gb and install OS and MS office, photoshop, etc on it and keep the 500gb 5400RPM HDD as file storage where speed won't matter. Anybody had any luck? Or can direct me how to get this going? I am able to see the drive listed, but can't boot to it, it won't show up in my boot menu when going through to f12 V7-481P-6455 Thanks!

Just wanted to briefly report of a successful SSD upgrade.

When I got my Portege R930 (PT331E, i7) two years ago, I changed the HD to a Samsung SSD 840 PRO 512GB (big improvement). Now this SSD is too small (photos!) and I wanted to increase the capacity to 1TB.

But instead of a new SATA, I decided to go for an mSATA + SATA adapter – I got the impression an mSATA unit would be more “future-proof” – next laptop upgrade for me would be a Portege Z, which use mSATA.

So I bought a Samsung SSD 850 EVO mSATA 1TB together with a Delock converter/adapter, made a clone with the Apricorn cable and software, switched the SSDs and everything works just fine (actually a little bit faster )! At first I tried to make the clone with Samsungs migration software but that didn?t work, maybe I didn?t use the right version.

So – now I have a much lager SSD that will live longer than my R930. Please note that I am not a computer expert – just a happy Toshiba user!! Thanks for a good forum with my good ideas!

Regards
/Anders

No it is a hardware barrier. Is the slot you put the mSATA drive into shown on p. 50 of the manual here?: Service Manual That port is for a WWAN (cellular modem) card only. Your laptop is in the Intel Core 2d generation era and the use of mSATA disks even for acceleration cache did not really catch on until the 3rd generation. The circuitry to see and make use of the mSATA disk is just not present in that laptop. Sorry.  if this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I have a question about upgrading my U410. I currently have installed the 24 gb mSATA SSD that came with the system and it is being utilized as a cache using the intel rapid storage setup and the 2.5 slot is occupied with the 1TB HDD that came with the system. I now want to purchase a Samsung 850 Evo and realize that it comes in both Sata and mSata variants. My question is on the U410 system would there be any speed benefit (assuming the same specs for the two variants of the Samsung SSD) in going with the mSata vs Sata version? Specfically, assuming all other variables equal, is the mSata pcie port slower than the Sata? And am I correct in assuming that the mSata pcie port will operate at Sata III speeds given an mSata drive that supports this output spec? And thus there is no benefit in choosing the Sata version vs the mSata? I would like to keep my 1TB HDD and install a 256gb mSata EVO drive to run the OS and main programs on, but will elect to replace the 2.5 HDD instead and get the Sata version of the EVO drive if the mSata pcie port will not equal the performance of the 2.5 Sata port. Thanks!

A:Ideacentre AIO 700 - Ram upgrade

hi andyrossitter,

Welcome to the Forums.

Do you have the AIO 700-24ISH (Intel Skylake CPU)? If yes then the max memory should be 16GB as advertised below:

http://shop.lenovo.com/lt/lt/desktops/ideacentre/aio-700/

Though technically, the memory controller (which is built-in to the CPU) can support 32GB of DDR4 but I recommend you stick with 16GB as this is the tested max memory specification for the unit. It's also better to get a 16GB dual channel kit (2x8GB) for best dual channel compatibility (although another 8GB should work as long as it's identical to the currently installed 8GB).

More info:

In addition, check this guide to access the RAM slots:

I am looking into upgrading the GPU in my Ideacentre 700. The new Nvidia GTX 1080/1070s look very appealing and I'm eagerly awaiting the AMD Polaris GPUs. Unfortunately both Nvidia GPU's recommend a PSU of 500W+ and after looking into upgrading the PSU, I can see there are many issues as the Ideacentre doesn't use the typical 24-Pin power cable to the motherboard. Instead it uses a proprietary 10-Pin power cable to it. Without performing the hackery mentioned in this thread, would Lenovo or anywhere else be able to supply me with a more powerful PSU with a 10-pin motherboard power cable?

My Inspiron 17R 7720 has a 32GB mSATA SSD. I had thought, apparently incorrectly, that this drive was a boot drive containing the OS and was used to provide a faster OS startup. In response to another thread I posted a responder stated my mSATA drive was a cache and did not contain any programs. So does that mean that there is no data permanently stored on the mSATA drive? When the system is powered off, all the data on the mSATA is lost? If so what is the purpose of larger mSATA drives? I see them upwards of 128GB, what would a larger mSATA drive do that my 32GB drive won't?

A:Inspiron 17R 7720 mSATA question

The 32G drive caches the main drive - there IS data stored on it, and the more frequently data is accessed, the more of it is stored on the 32G drive.  It's a COPY of the data from the hard drive, though - this is NOT a RAID 0 array.
While an mSATA cache drive (or a hybrid drive) will speed up the fetch from the hard drive somewhat, it is a pale imitation of the performance you get when you actually install and run the operating system completely FROM a native solid state drive.  Doing that will vastly improve the overall system performacne vs running a cached, hybrid or conventional hard drive.

Hi and welcome to the SevenForums!

One solution I can suggest to this is to use imaging software to create an image of your current Windows installation. Acronis True Image is one of the popular ones on here, but there are other programs that can do it such as Macrium Reflect.

Does anyone know if the case for the Ideacentre 700 supports standard microATX boards? More specifically this one: https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/H110M-A/specifications/I did a rough measuring of my stock motherboard's sides and it seemed like it was around 9.6x9.6 which makes it a microATX, I think. I need to upgrade my motherboard before I can upgrade anything else on the computer and the fact that the stock motherboard and PSU are proprietary worries me that the case might not have the correct standoffs or screw locations to support other boards.

I currently have a K450 (IdeaCentre 1012--Model 10120) from December 2013.  It currently has an i5-4430 CPU.  Which i7 processors can I upgrade to?  Will I also need to upgrade the RAM to a faster speed from stock? Current upgrades include: EVGA GeForce 1060 SC 6GB video, EVGA SuperNova 550 G2 80+ Gold power supply, and an additional WD 1TB drive.

Have client who's had this in place for a few years.. @ purchase (obviously, a few years back), we did PSU/GPU upgrade. Now GPU card bad, want to replace w/whatever this mb can support (had already upgraded other components so that this unit still handles workload). Saw various GPU compatibility lists, but all were pretty dated. Can anyone verify that a GigaByte GTX 750 Ti (WindForce 4GB) will be compatible? I've seen some posts that showed cards w/the GTX 750 Ti as working for them. Thanks for any assistance.
