update KB2919355 Error 0x80073712. all fixes failed.

Q: update KB2919355 Error 0x80073712. all fixes failed.

I've done everything here with no fix: Error Code 0x80073712 occurs in Windows Update or Microsoft Update

I've done everything here with no fix: KB2919355 (Windows 8.1 Update) Fails (800f0092 and - Microsoft Community

These are the only solutions that i can find and i've done both of them and neither has worked or they've given me additional errors such as the troubleshooter just telling me it couldn't fix it and the second one saying invalid package.
In a week now i won't be able to get updates to Windows because of this stupid update so i'm desperate for help hoping that there is something i've missed over the 500 google search results i've gone through.
I also want to make it clear that I CAN'T WIPE THIS PC under any circumstances unless there is no other possible option. If it truly is the only option than I'll do it but it's going to be months until i have the time to actually do it.

I have tried the DISM healthrestore, it failed with:
Error: 0x800f081f
DISM failed. No operation was performed.

I have tried the dism /online /remove-package /packagename:Package_for_KB2919355~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.3.1.14 it failed with:
Error: 0x800f0805

The specified package is not a valid windows package.

Again i need to make it very clear that i can't wipe my PC right now. It will be weeks if not months until i can wipe this machine and it is the only one i can use right now. And to be completely honest i shouldn't have to wipe my PC because microsoft screwed up. I've been using windows since 3.1 and i've never EVER had a problem this insanely stupid.
*edit*

tried one crazy solution to erase HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\WINEVT" from the registry. did not work.

Preferred Solution: update KB2919355 Error 0x80073712. all fixes failed.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If you are still having a problem installing the latest KB2919355, zip up the files under c:\windows\logs\cbs and share them out on OneDrive, and I will take a look.

Hi emmett82,

Please let us know what is the error you received while trying to install the driver update for the system.

First of all manually remove the drivers from the system by following the link below:

Hi!
First of all, please forgive my real clumsy English - I hope it's at least understandable.

I have difficulties with the last MS patch (July 9), the KB 2844286 (something with .NET Framework 3.5.1) doesn't install. I tried first to delete the accompanying Files KB 2832414, 283946 and 2840631 and then a re-updating, but again for the KB 2844286 fails with the

error 0x80073712 (error_sys_component_store_corrupt)

The checksur.log shows several errors (cbs.zip)

sfc /scannow shows one error with wimgapi.dll (hashmismatch) which cannot repaired, because source file is also corrupted (sfcdetails.txt).

lossless repairing with the Win repair system isn't possible, because user-, program- and windows-folders are not in the same partition.

In other threads, I saw very profund and competent answers, so I hope someone can help me too!

Appreciating your help very much!

Good afternoon! From what I've seen in a Whole Lot of Googling, this forum seems to have the most targeted, successful support for the kind of issue I'm seeing.

I've been running Win7 Home Premium for a few years, and every single Windows Update has run successfully (with a snag now and then) except SP1, which returns error 0x80073712 every time.

I've disabled SpyBot S&D and AVG Free, but MS Security Essentials is still running.

I ran SURT (Windows6.1-KB947821-v34-x64), which completed.
(And I discovered I've been attempting to resolve the issue with SURT since September 2012, v22!)

Ran SFC scan as Admin:

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.
Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

Collected CBS.zip from C:\Windows\Logs

Attempted update again.

New error code: 80070002. Followed WinHelp to stop Windows Update service, deleted temporary update files, restarted update service, checked again for updates.

Attempted update again. Found 1 critical (SP1) and 2 optional. Didn't note what they were.

Cancelled install during Win Live Essentials 2011 update. Restarted SP1-only update.

80073712 returned.

Re-collected CBS.zip from C:\Windows\Logs

(I tried to attach CBS.zip, but at ~30MB, it's well over the 8MB limit. Any particular logs you could use instead?

Thanks!

I am having the exact same problems as the people who opened these threads:
csi unable to query store version
CSI Unable to Query Store Version Total count: 1

I have windows 7 Home 64bit

Things that have failed:
- Check For Updates always fails with the error code: 80073712
- sfc /scannow produces "windows resource protection could not perform the requested operation"
- turn windows features on or off produces an empty window.
- system update readiness tool produces 1 error "csi unable to query store version"
- Installation of SP1 fails with: ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT(0x80073712)

I also did a remote session with a real microsoft tech and after trying a few things, they just tried to get me to buy their $149 "advanced tools" garbage.

Looks like bad news, I'm afraid...

Code:
Checking Packages
(f) CSI Unable to Query Store Version 0x00000002
64-bit Windows usually has a COMPONENTS hive of 38-60MB - and yours is only 28MB
Opening the file in a Hex editor, it's obvious that something has totally corrupted it - it appears to be an extract from a CBS.log file!

Unless you have a System Restore point that's from before the problem started, then I'm afraid that your only options are either a repair install or a clean install.

I ran the System File Checker tool as administrator in cmd prompt sfc /scannow when it finished it said Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.
I tried again to install the update but it failed.

Windows 10 Pro (version 1607, Build 14393.51) won't update. I think it may be affecting other hardware because I can't get my wireless display dongle to work - which did work before a previous windows 10 update.

I don't know if this is relevant but the wireless display dongle stats are:

The main goal is fixing Windows Update. Maybe if we can fix that, the dongle might work.

Microsoft Finally Fixes Error 633 in Windows 10 Creators Update

Microsoft rolled out Windows 10 cumulative update KB4022716 earlier this week, and one of the most important changes that it brings is a bugfix for error 633.

If you?ve never experienced this error, the chances are that you have no idea what it does, though there are thousands or maybe more users out there who have been trying to deal with this since the release of the Windows 10 Creators Update.

In just a few words, this error impacts modems and dial-up connections, causing them not to work correctly, even though everything was just fine before the update to the Creators Update. We?ve also experienced the same bug on at least two Windows 10 laptops here at Softpedia, and finding a workaround was a really difficult job, especially because the typical fixes made no difference.

So if you are also experiencing the same problem and want to have it fixed to continue using a dial-up connection in Windows 10 Creators Update, just download and install Windows 10 cumulative update KB4022716 and everything should return to normal.

The easiest workaround
The only workaround that we tried and which got the modem working on our PCs involved launching the Windows 10 Registry Editor (by typing regedit in the Start menu) and navigating to the following path:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\RasMan

Look for a key called RequiredPrivileges and double-click to open it. At the end of the tex... Read more

HI! Saludos from Mexico.

I've been using the forum for the last week studying windows 8 and it's features, because recently i just bought an Asus x450CA with Windows 8 CoreSingleLanguage. (i use xubuntu regularly and osx, win7 a little)

So, i managed to download a Retail Win 8.1 update 1 (MSDN) and couldn't use my win8 OEM key to activate.

I realized i had to get a CoreSingleLanguage version, so downloaded the most recent ESD from a thread on MyDigitalLife.

I proceeded installing with Generic Key and then activating with my OEM key, and procedure was flawless.

Started downloading drivers, and search for updates, and i find my Windows update is showing KB2919355 with a more recent date as shown here:

Any info. regarding this situation? Windows 8.1 update is already installed as shown here:

I haven't been able to update windows for about a month now. When I attempt to update, the CPU runs high but nothing else is happening ... ie hard disks at zero. Eventually I have to go into Task Manager to stop Windows Update. Then I'll get an Error Code 80244019. I've tried using the MS Fix It tool. It says it's fixed the issue. But there's no change when I try to update again. Windows Defender is running fine. I've scanned the machine, there's not bugs. It's operating normally otherwise. I've tried another fix suggested on Youtube, going into PC settings and unchecking the bottom box.

It didn't work. I don't have a system restore available that pre-exists the issue. No idea what else to try.
Need advice please.

Greetings

For few days I'm fighting and trying to install SP1 but it fails every time. I did all other updates without problems. Tried many tips and fix ideas on internet, SURT, SFC Scan, Diagnostic, some things in control panel to help with Windows Update.. completely nothing helps.

It gives me 0x80073712 error code and CheckSUR file says:

The latest patches fail to install and I have gone through the threads to try and correct the problem with recommended actions but the problem still persists.

I've attached the required files and successfully complete the SURT and SFC actions without errors as per the Windows Update Posting Instructions .
I've also included the ever useful event log entries as well. Can anyone help?

FDISK could be my next option...but I prefer the learn rather than surrender.

You have almost 200 missing files according to the CheckSUR report - but none, according to the SFC report.
This indicates some major mismatch between the registry and the file system.

A repair install is your best and quickest repair option.

My Windows Update shows me that I got 3 important updates:
- KB2990967 (30KB)
- KB3063843 (25KB)
- KB2919355 (37KB)
When I press Install the updater does the installation and says: The updates were successful. Succeeded: 3 updates
The message looks OK, but, unfortunately, nothing is really installed. If I press Check for Updates button, it shows me exactly the same 3 updates again.
I was trying all possible solutions from Internet:
- Deleting Software Distributions folder
- Restarting wuauserv
- Performing different DISM commands
- Performing actions from Windows Help pages
None of the above did solve the issue.
In plus, I've tried downloading KB2919355 manually from the official site, but as soon as I try to install it I got an error message: The update is not applicable for your computer.
The strange thing about Windows Update that it shows absolutely incorrect sizes of updates. For example, KB2919355 has a real size of 600+MB when you download it from official site, but Windows Update shows just 37KB.

Here are my CBS Logs: CBS

Could anyone suggest what I can do to install KB2919355?

Hello there, I'm new on this website so I thank in advanced any help that you guys could give to me. I've been looking in the forum for something that could solve my problem but I wasn't able to find it. It's been a long time since I first noticed this update couldn't be installed, I tried out many things but it stills failing; Downloaded Windows Update diagnostic, deleting temporal update files from C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution/(DataStore and Download) while disabling Windows Update, turn off windows defender... I don't know what could be failing. If anyone can bring some insight I'll be very grateful because I really want to update to W10.

I'm confused because this update is supposed to be critical but is the only one left on my Windows Update to install, I guess further updates will appear once the problem is fixed.

My laptop model is a Sony Vaio VGN-FW56M and my Windows version is 8.1 Pro N

Edited: I forgot to say that error 80070003 jumps when I try to install that update which is the one I've been looking help to but couldn't solve.

I am using Asus computer running Windows 8.1 x64.

Whenever I check for Windows update it would be there (see screenshot 1 attached), even though update history showed many successful installation (see screenshot 2 attached).

Now, it is affecting the update of IE version 11.0.9600.17126 to 11.0.9600.17207 and Adobe Flash Player version 14.0.0.125 to 11.0.9600.17207 (see screenshot 3 attached) which may cause the computer to be vulnerable to exploit attack upon triggering IE and/or Adobe Flash Player.

OK, I'm pretty *** right now!

I bought my laptop brand new in September with Vista preinstalled. I tried to update the system but I couldn't because apparently Microsoft *** up Vista so bad that they didn't even bother testing it properly before the release date to see if it works at all. As we all know, Microsoft is in a monopol market position so it can treat its customers in whatever *** way it wants to.

Ok, enough of the vent.

I spent 1 week tring to figure out how I can update Vista because I kept getting error 0x80073712 all the time. It turned out that the problem was that when Microsoft released Vista, some of the system files were corrupt, and that prevented me from updating. What's more, I was also informed that I could only resolve this issue by reinstalling Vista from CD which I did not have, because I got it preinstalled on my laptop! So, there is no way I can ever get any updates?!?? Naturally, the information that I found on the Microsoft support page was a piece of **.

(The "Windows Features" dialog box is empty in Windows Vista, or you receive an error message that includes the following code when you try to use Windows Update: "0x80073712")

Nevertheless, I still did a system scan, and it didn't produce any results, just as I expected.
After one week of struggling to find a way out of the ** microsoft kindly dumped on me, I found a tweak on another forum, which finally worked!! I had gone through like 10 different solutions bef... Read more

Hello,

I patched my windows 8.1 x64 PC on Tuesday with all available updates. Today, July 10th, KB2919355 popped up "Windows 8.1 Update for x64-based systems" claiming I need the update to ensure I receive future updates. I'm pretty positive I've installed this two times previously...should I try applying this update again or wait a few days to see if it was a mistake and/or disappears from windows update? Anyone else see this today?

Thanks!

Hi.

I've been having problems with my laptop recently. I actually care less when it comes to updates since it's automatic, but I noticed that it refuses to install any drivers (which means I cannot access any USB drives or install programs that requites drivers) or updates, after searching for solutions on the internet, I found out in a website that said kb2919355 causes component store corruption that is irreparable, which is the update that I have already installed. I've tried repairing with DISM but it all fails, probably because the update causes the component store to corrupt when StartComponentCleanup is triggered.

I want this to be fixed but my restore point is already deleted since it's probably too old (which is weird that I'm having this problem since the update has been installed for months). I don't want to reinstall my Windows either, so what now?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Hi all, thought I would share my experience with the dreaded KB2919355 update that seems (from trawling the internet for solutions over the last several days) to be a pretty common problem that people are experiencing.

My 32-bit laptop attempted to install the update several times since 18/04/14 but failed each time. The error codes were almost as numerous as the clumps of hair I pulled out in exasperation. (In fact, the codes I received, in more or less random order, were as follows: 80246007, 80070005, 800F0902, 80073712, 80080008.)

I then tried various combinations of the following in the command line, running as an admin:

sfc /scannow
dism /online /cleanup-image /restoreHealth
dism /online /cleanup-image /startcomponentcleanup

(And I guess it's best to do them in that order, although the mods might be able to clarify if that's not the case.)

The first command returned the following message:

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.

The second returned something similar. A check of the CBS and DISM log files showed that some system files were corrupted. The pertinent part of the DISM log file is below:

(p) CSI Payload Corrupt x86_microsoft-windows-tabletpc-inputpanel_31bf3856ad364e35_6.3.9600.17031_none_a661cc9192f62cce\boxed-correct.avi

Hello!

Yes, I have seen it before. It is not exactly uncommon. In all previous cases that I have dealt with, it has always been in error. Looking over the CBS.log file showed that SFC did in fact scan very few, or no, files. Often the CBS.log actually showed an error which SFC did not graphically report. In my experience, there are certain errors which SFC cannot recover from. In these cases, it stops part way with a 'Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation' error message. When it finishes too fast, despite claiming success, it often has had one of these fatal errors anyway, if I remember correctly.

Now, I could take the CBS.log, and see what seems to be going on, but if you ask me, it isn't worth it unless you have a problem. If your computer has a problem, which is why you ran SFC, then I shall take a look, but if all seems well, then you risk more by fiddling.

A:Error code 0x80073712

Hello Paul!

Thanks for letting me know about that error

Error code 0x80073712 maps to ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT. This error is one of the few which can cause SFC to fail. These two are definitely linked.

As you have seen, SFC is not robust enough to deal with corruptions when its store copy is also corrupt. It can deal with problems when it has a clean store, but a corruption elsewhere, but when its store is damaged, it fails.

Therefore, we need a second tool downloaded from the internet with its own store built into the download to identify problems in the store. I also intend to take a copy of the CBS.log, just to diagnose what exactly is corrupted, how badly is is corrupted, how to fix it if it is possible to fix, or whether it does not actually need to be fixed (I doubt this scenario). At the moment, I am just diagnosing what is wrong, and what needs to be done.

Please download this independant tool (the System Update Readiness Tool) from here: Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, for Windows 7, and for Windows Server 2008 R2 and install it.

Once it has installed, please copy the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS folder (the whole folder, please) to your Desktop, right click on it > Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder, create a new thread in this forum: http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/ (It is better to keep something like this in its own thread, and leave this thread for simple on... Hello guys, I am new to the forum and forgive me if i am breaking any rules or etc by not posting information incorrectly. Since, KB2919355 update rolled out i had it set as 'Automatic update' and for first couple times i saw that it would say, 'Updated and shutdown' (when i try shutting down) and i would see (next time i turn it back on) 'Undoing changes, windows couldn't update blah blah blah' (ofc not the blahblah blah part... u get the point lol) so i didn't pay much attention to it untill now it's irritating as i ran sfc /scannow and came back with couple fire corrupts and i tried to refresh but i did not get any installation disc which i heard is now built in on all Win8. so, if i do refresh and my surfing i see that almost everyone wants you to plug a media decide (CD/DVD/USB) and boot etc but to obtain a Win8 you have to use torrenting, illegally... brrr anyways.
I am attatching sfcdetails.log which i ran this morning and i am not sure if that's causing Windows Update to not download/install KB2919355.

Here's the virus link for the txt log i attatched.

Hey guys, I'm at my wits end here. I've been on the web looking for fixes for the svchost.exe memory leak, and I've tried just about everything. I first did the WindowsUpdateAgent30-x86.exe and WindowsXPKB927891.exe, along with the fix_svchost.bat file. I can't run the programs though because it says I already have them and don't need them. I found another forum that said it was something in the regedit, but that didn't work either. I've tried running other programs that claim to fix it, but nothings working. Everytime I Ctrl+Alt+Delete the svchost.exe that is causing the problem, it causes my sound drivers to fail, so it's annoying having to reboot every single time to get a few minutes of running my PC smoothly.
