I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

The response of the system (no-boot with the Xeon CPU aboard) is your answer:  NO.  This system won't take that CPU.
Since the system won't boot with the Xeon CPU aboard, it matters not which OS you plan to run.

Hi Guys n Girls,
Can someone please help me out on this as I'm pulling my hair out.
I am modernising a Dell Precision T5400 workstation for use with Autocad, Photoshop, Office, etc. and it is now running windows 7 Pro 64 bit SP1 on an SSD.
A quadro 4000 or firepro 7900 is next on the list but I cant risk putting any more money into it if I cant install more RAM.
The X5450's are working fine - I just wish they supported hyperthreading which would really make it a flyer.
The T5400 supports 32GB of ICC ram according to the manual, The 'my dell' programme says it supports 64GB and Sandra lite puts the max at 128GB but the 32GB is all I need.
Anyway I am upgrading from 4GB (4 x 1GB) of DDR2 PC2-5300F-555-11 and have purchased 32GB (8*4GB) of used, supposedly matched, HP 466436-061  RAM (made by hynix, part no's below) from ebay: (hp stickers all have same part number).
4GB 2Rx4 PC2-5300F-555-11 ///  HYMP151F72CP4N3-Y5 AC-C     3 STICKS
4GB 2Rx4 PC2-5300F-555-11 /// HYMP151F72CP4N3-Y5 AB-C       5 STICKS
I can install any of the cards in slots 1-5 and the system recognises them and passes all prestartup & memory tests although it reports a mismatch on start because slot 5 is not paired so it does not use it. I only left it in to ensure that the second bank is recognising the card.
I have checked using 'sandra lite' and the hardware list shows they have identical specs and stepping except for the part number and they... Read more

A:rebuilding precision T5400 dual xeon x5450 ram problem - 1-3-2 beeps cant install more than 4 out of 8 dimm cards

Hi all,I`ve had a play around with the new ram sticks that came this morning and no difference.
Not to be defeated I played about and have managed to install a pair in slots 7&8 which actually works giving me 24GB which may be enough but I`m still confused as to why putting the 2 sticks from 7 & 8 (which are obviously matched and working) into slots 5 & 6 causes the thing to not boot, I have  verified slots 5 & 6 work by putting a single stick into each on subsequent boots and they definitely show up in the bios set up but are not used as they are not a pair.I have come to the conclusion that this is a bios fault and will try flashing the older A09 release and post back.

Hello everyone,
I am wondering if anyone has tried this. I am looking to buy a refurbished version of this computer and would like to know if it is compatible with Windows 10 64 bit and Windows Server 2012 R2.
I currently have an aging Precision 670 that is running Windows Server 2012 that I can not move higher than that version due to the required new instruction sets of older processors that are 64 bit. Will this machine have the same problem or will it work okay with these operating systems?
The model I am looking at is the T7400 with dual E5450 3.0 GHz Xeon processors installed and 8 gb of ram.
Any help you can provide on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time.
Regards
Bill

Hello!  So i'm not an expert with Servers but from what information I got, Dell didn't support this machine past Windows Vista, which would be Windows Server 2012 (not R2 sadly).  Its possible you can fiddle with it to get it to work, but finding drivers etc., may be difficult if not impossible.

I checked T3600 and 3610 - the only difference is BIOS firmware, even BIOS chips are the same. T3600 has Intel ME firmware 7th version - that is why Xeon v2 are not recognized by the 3600 system, they need later 8th version of ME. Upgrade of ME formware is a difficult procedure  - You need to fit the size and other attributes of old ME region. The simpliest way would be to read both BIOS chips from 3610 motherboard and clean data region in ME but I don't have any T3610 systems. Another way is to analyze BIOS file for T3610 and drag out the firmware for T3600. If anybody has T3610 - please reply

A:P50: Xeon E3-1535M v5 or Xeon E3-1550M v5?

Saw your other post asking about optical drive. I got a feeling that it's either a joke or scam. 1) There's no optical drive option for P50 (of course we are talking about built-in drive, not the external one).2) There's no E3-1550M v5 option for P50.  In fact, even the E3-1535M has limited availability.  e.g. E3-1535M is available in Japan but not in US. Good luck with the 'special built' P50.

A couple of questions: 1.   Which OS and browser are you using?2.   Do you have a Smart Card reader installed? The reason I'm asking is that, once in a while, while using IE 11 on Windows 7 on my similarly-provisioned P70, the browser simply stops working.  Upon close inspection, it seems that the MFA client sometimes fails, even while not being used (I have the reader for future-proofing the machine but have no smart card inserted at present). The latest driver seems to be less likely to cause this problem, but it has not completely been eliminated. Could this be your issue?

Hello everyone. I am a 3D arch viz artist, using 3Ds Max + Vray render. I am looking for additional render power.

My budget is around 2.000 Euros, so I was considering 2 options:

A guy is selling a HP DL580 G7 server, which includes 32 GB ram and 4x Xeon E7540 2 GHz (6-core CPU, based on Nehalem), which is a total of 24 cores / 48 threads.

For the same money, I could buy a 5960X system or 2 systems running a Core i7 4790 CPUs. The hardware in my country is a bit more expensive when compared to USA / EU.

I can't find any benchmarks for the E7540 CPUs, so I am not sure if 4xE7540 would outperform 2 modern 4-core Core i7 CPUs (like the 4790K). That would be 24cores vs 8 cores / 48 threads vs 16 threads.

Vray render uses all of the available CPU cores, no limit there.

A:4 x Xeon E7540 vs Intel 5960X

The 5960X system, if for the same money would be the best buy.

First off, I need to explain a few things:

I am quite the newbie to hardware, and everything I "know" has only come from trial, and error. I am not one of those techy guys, and most of what I say will be be entirely based on things that I have learned through my own experiences - Not from facts. I make my decisions based on things that I assume, and perceive. I apologise for any offense, or irritation I may cause within this post. I don't stick to the "norm", and I do not tend to reach out for help, unless I really truly feel that I need it. In this case, I feel the need to ask for help. So here I am.

I know my system is old. Please do not blatantly tell me to get rid of it, or to buy an i3, i5, etc.
I would like the questions that I am asking to be answered directly, and to the point.

I'm looking for a Xeon E3-1235 cpu (LGA 1155 socket) to build a server, I read here in a post from almost a year ago that not all 1155 MOBOs can handle the Xeon cpus.

Is this true?

In Newegg they have normal 1155 boards and 1155 Server boards.
Since normal boards are much cheaper and I won't use all the features in server boards I was planning to get a normal board.

Should I get a server board instead??

A:MOBO for Intel Xeon E3-1235 LGA 1155

Unlike the last generation Xeon 1156 chips (X3440, X3450, X3450), the latest Xeon 1155 chips (E3-1230, E3-1235, E3-1240) are not known for their compatibility with non-server boards. For whatever reasons, manufacturers did not update the microcode on non-serverl boards to facilitate the Xeon 1155 chips.

I would suggest a server board for the Xeon E3-1235 CPU.

Hi, This is about my Thinkpad P50 Xeon 64 GB Ram machine with RAM installed both on top (under the keyboard) and bottom. When I move the laptop - especially while holding the machine at the bottom or when I put it on a table or my lap, the machine freezes. It freezes in whatever state it was in - if the screen was on - it freezes with the screen on and if the screen was off due to inactivity - it freezes with the screen off. The only thing that I can do is to long press the power button and get it to reboot. I have been very carefully holding the laptop from the side and taking extra care while putting it on the table as a workaround... I have not seen it happen while moving the machine into the slept mode. With the cover closed - the machine goes in the sleep mode.I have not (yet) seen the issue occur when I bring it up from the sleep possibly because I have been bringing up the machine only once the machine is completely in a stable state like on a table or a flat surface... Hope someone can help me understand and fix the problem. I have been facing the problem for a year and had reported it to Lenovo while I was still covered in warranty but got no help - was just asked to re-install windows....

I've been having a series of crashes on my Z420 whilst rendering 3D models and generally whilst using the 3D software (cinema 4D). It's using 100% of all 8 cores when rendering and it overheats and crashes, with no notice. I'm wanting to look into the HP liquid cooling solution but I can't find it anywhere online, I've really not got a clue where to get it from and I'm really hoping someone can help me out here by pointing out where to get them because I can't even find anything on the HP site? I'm not willing to alter the affinity of cinema 4D to less cores because I'm told by the IT guy it will just overheat it anyway and it will be at 100% for longer which could lead to huge problems. Oh and software that throttles processes won't work because I'm on windows 7. All help will be massively appreciated!

Hi, HP does offer liquid cooling for some workstations. You might want to contact HP Support or HP Sales for availability of water cooling for your particular model Z420. Review this manual page 6. The E5-1620 only has four cores (eight threads using hyperthreading).  Review the above referenced manual page 3.  Check with the application software manufacturer and find out what they suggest for helping with your issue.  Will a processor with more cores help? Are there other ways and technology (SSD or a faster video card, TELSA GPU processor) that will assist with the rendering process?

I was just wondering if anybody has any experience with Intel S2600CWTR series serverboards and Xeon 2600 V4 processors.
It boots fine with single CPU 2600 V4 and also with dual Xeon V3 .... but not with dual V4.

Intel says only board rev H12882-260 has this issue .... but not H12882-261 or H12882-262 ... so they sent me new boards ... still the same problem.

I really want to use the V4 becsue of better memory bandwidth, but I may have to downgrade to V3.

Anybody know anything about this issue?

Many thanks for any insight.

Update as of 07-21-2016:
Intel has been unable to come with an answer ... and it has become evident that they don't test their new products ... nobody actually sticks a couple of processors in the sockets and makes sure it works. They rely 100% on the CAD simulators. Wish I also was that confident about my designs that I could send to customers without testing. It should be noted however ... with Xeon V3, these are really good motherboards.

Considering an upgrade. If I go with enthusiast board it will be 1366 6-Core Extreme CPU, even though I would not have much interest in overclocking. If I go server board, it will be a Supermicro dual-Xeon server board that can handle the 6-core Xeons as a pair. Ouch on the price!

Obviously, as far as the Xeons go, there won't be any overclocking, even for a few quick tests and such.

In either case I will be running Win 7 Pro 64-bit as the OS, and the systems will be liquid cooled. I have the appropriate water cooling equipment, PSU's, ATX/E-ATX cases, etc.

Any explicit advantage to either chip? I'm not an overclocker, but I do want speed at stock ratings. Are the Xeons just more heavily validated and tested?

I have not ventured into the world of server boards a lot, but those I have used from Supermicro I really like since they allow so much greater control, such as BIOS-level remote desktop, etc.

A:Intel desktop 6-Core vs. Xeon 6-cores - Differences? Pros or cons for either?

Xeon processors function better with multi threaded data handling like in a server side to deal with multiple access/data requests. I would stick with a desktop six core as getting a xeon processor would be impractical and you wouldn't be able to get the full potential out of it unless you want to turn your computer into a server, ha ha.

I have installed the latest Bios update, but that has made no discernible difference. Could you help? Regards, Steve

Intel Sandy Bridge finally goes dual socket with new Xeon E5-2600 range

Intel has launched its Xeon E5-2600 range: dual socket processors sporting up to eight cores and 16 threads each, based on its Sandy Bridge core design.

Sandy Bridge processors with up to four cores and eight threads have been shipping for desktop and portable systems for more than a year now, but it's taken Intel a while to scale up and validate its new "Sandy Bridge EP" design for the dual socket market. A further delay was caused by Intel's decision to secretly ship the first processors to HPC customers building supercomputers.

The new processors are closely related to the Sandy Bridge E processors that hit the market last November. They extend the standard single socket Sandy Bridge design with more cores (up to 8), more cache (up to 20 MB), more PCIe connectivity (40 lanes of PCIe 3.0), more memory bandwidth (four DDR3 channels, running at up to 1600 MHz) and more memory capacity (up to 3 DIMMs per channel, for a total of 384 GB per processor). The Sandy Bridge EP (and E) parts lack the integrated graphics of the regular Sandy Bridge, but are bigger and better in every other way.

I use a number of Dell Poweredge T20 Servers as PCs running Win10 but I have an issue with one specification which refuses to display graphics clearly.
Hardware is:
Intel Xeon E3-1225 v3 3.2GHz (3.6GHz boost) Quad-Core, 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3 ECC UDIMM, 1TB 7200rpm LFF SATA, Gigabit LAN, 290W PSU
No amount of driver downloads seems to resolve this. All cables changed. Display changed. Nothing else to change.
Dell have offered to replace the MB but before I do that, I want to be sure it is a MB issue and not some other rouge problem.
Problem even persists when using an additional GPU so something definitely wrong here.

Im just wondering which one is better.

A:Xeon 2.4 ghz or P4 2.53 GHZ 533 FSB

are you running a server? if so go with the xeon, otherwise let me know what kinds of things you are doing with it because the P4 might be better

Xeon E3 or i7??? I have asked this question before but that has been some time ago. I am needing a good cpu that will be used for video editing for up to 4-5 hours a day. I know a Xeon is made for 24/7 use and comes from a better dye so I was wondering what people's thoughts were. There will be no overclocking so don't go there. Thanks.

A:Xeon E3 or i7

Its going to depend on the chip of course, but I would say in general an i7 would be the better option. If you go with a 6 core 12 thread i7 you will have a very nice video editing machine. Thats my opinion, its in reality going to be up to exactly what your needs beyond just video editing will be to decide what is a better idea.

I recently bought a Xeon 2.8 533 512 (prod BX80532KE2800DSL72F) with a view to building a mono-CPU system. The box, however, states 'Supports Dual-processor ONLY / 604-pin micro-PGA).

Is this correct? Do I need to DUAL chip the board or will it work as a standalone?

If I need 2 do I get exactly the same one to create the matched pair or is there a different one I need to get to compliment the architecture to let it function at peak?

Thanks

A:Xeon CPU

Yes, you need two that are exactly the same. Out of interest, why did you buy a Xeon if you don't want to run multiple processors? They are nothing more than a P4 with a higher pricetag and SMP support.

I've just aquired 34 Dell systems from a goverment auction, I've dontated 1 to myself, whcih happens to be a 1.8ghz Xeon proc. For some reason I thought that all Xeons were 64 bit, however my 64bit version of XP Pro will not install on it. What are my possibilities with this machine, if any?

Hi. On CPUz it does say I have a Intel Core I7 3770k Ivy bridge. Why does it say in device manager I have a

System devices

Xeon Processor E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core Processor DRAM Controller - 0150
Xeon Processor E3-1200 v2/3rd Gen Core Processor PCI Express Root Port - 0151

Also in IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers in device manager it says.

Intel 7 series/C216 Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller.

Under processors it does say.

Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz
Intel Core I7-3770K CPU @3.50GHz

Im more bothered about it saying its a xeon when its an I7. Could this be the reason why my PC is slower then I would like?.

A:Have i got a xeon not Ivy?.

I have a system with an i7 3770 (not the K version) but I get the identical listing as yours.

My motherboard is also a Z77 chipset. ASRock Z77 Professional Fatal1ty.

Not sure if this is in the proper section but here goes:

I'm still running a first gen i7-920 on a Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD4P, overclocked to 3.8GHz with a couple of GTX670s in SLI. Was thinking of keeping the graphics cards and SSDs and upgrading CPU to a 6 core XEON (which I would also try to overclock). Problem is that the X5650 through 70 does not appear to be on the Gigabyte site as a supported CPU BUT I've seen some threads implying that it will work with this board. Is there anyone that might be able to confirm that here?

Also, If I decide to just pick one up and try it, will Windows 7 x64 continue to run with the CPU swap or will it complain?

A:Xeon compatible?

I'm actually confused, because according to the upgrade list, the x5650 isn't on there, but it is a Socket 1366 processor, which is the socket on your mobo. So I can't say for certain, but in theory it should work.

Also it shouldn't cause any issues with your OS, since you're only changing one piece of hardware.

I am building a gaming computer and I am wondering if a Core i5 or a Quad-Core Xeon is better for gaming!

A:Solved: Xeon or i5?

There's lots of different models in each family, but Xeon's are better for workstations or servers. If you are building a gaming computer the i5 or an i7 is generally the cheaper and better choice.

Hi Guys,

I have a Compaq Proliant Pl3000 6/500 with twin PIII 500 cpu's in it, I also have 2 Xeon 800 cpu's that I want to put in it, from what I understand this is possible, however I cannot find a converter for Slot2 ( Xeon to Slot 1 )

Is this possible, is there a converter around to do this, where?? and does anyone have a spec / part number if there is.

Cheers Guys

A:Xeon Converter

If there is such a part available, it'll be a custom Compaq part and you'll need to buy it from them.
