PAR_SE detected by trendmicro, searchmeup detected by panda

Q: PAR_SE detected by trendmicro, searchmeup detected by panda

Hi!

I hope you're having a good December. Thanks again for your previous help this past summer!

A scan by TrendMicro picked up several infections, most of which it was able to clean up. But it wasn't able to remove PAR_SE.50425 and PAR_SE.50426. It also says I have a (MS05-004) ASP.NET Path Validation Vulnerability (887219), even though I have automatic Microsoft security updates. The first several minutes of a PandaScan (I didn't have time to finish it) found some SearchMeUp adware.

I'm so sorry, I can't remember how to Hijack This, otherwise I'd post that log, too. Any help you could provide would be greatly, greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:[SOLVED] PAR_SE.103934 and PAR_SE.103935

Unfortunately, those are proprietary names for an infection, and not a file name or registry location, so not all that helpful to us.

Did the TM scanner do anything with those? Did it give more information?

Your HJT log appears clean.

I see you have Ewido onboard, Panda and Kaspersky online scan ActiveX controls installed. Have they found anything?

Let's do this:

I see you have Ewido already. Please update it's definitions, and run a scan where I have placed it in this fix.

You will need to update Ewido to the latest definition files. On the left hand side of the main screen click update.
Then click on Start Update.
The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update Ewido
When you have finished updating, EXIT Ewido.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Restart your computer and boot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key repeatedly until a menu shows up (and choose Safe Mode from the list). In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Login on your usual account. Make sure to close any open browsers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Run Ewido with it's updated definitions:(...it's important that all windows must be closed) Click Scanner
Click Complete System Scan to begin scanning.

I have noticed quite abit of slow down in the past few days such as high cpu usage when running routine tasks and sluggish performance. Today I actually had a program crash while I was in it (a game).
I looked in my HJT log and there are a few suspicious entries could someone by chance tell me if the Trojan that has been detected and the suspicious entries I have found are related?
thank you in advance.

here are the two suspicious entries which I suspect could be causing problems

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {8E022E70-8918-4A4B-839F-D847C7DB2B4C} - (no file)

Delete your windows temporary files:

In safe mode go to the C:\Windows\Temp folder. Open the Temporary folder. Click on Edit - select all, then Edit - delete to empty the contents.

Delete your Internet Temporary Files:

Tools - Internet Options - General tab - delete temporary Internet files

Empty your recycle bin.

Then, please do this. Click here: http://www.sherrylynn.us/HijackThis.exe to download Hijack This. It’s very important that you save it to its own folder on your hard drive, such as program files (not temporary files or the desktop), so that it can create proper back-ups and be able to restore them if necessary.

Close all open windows and open Hijack This. Click “Scan”. When the scan is finished (it only takes a second), the scan button will change to “Save Log”. Click on “Save Log” and then save it to NotePad. Click on “Edit” – “Select all” – “copy” and then “paste” into the thread.

DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET, most items that appear in the log are harmless or even needed. Wait for someone to analyze the log and advise.

Hi and welcome to TSF.

Other than a couple of orphaned entries, your log is clean. The item flagged by Panda is in a temporary directory. Using windows explorer, you can navigate to the folder in bold and delete the contents of the folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\AR0NI9Y8\popup[2].htm

Trojan Deldir.A is already disinfected.

Virus:Trj/Deldir.A Disinfected C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\emachines\Preinstall.cmd

Scan with HijackThis and put a checkmark against the following entries:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)

Make sure that all browsers/windows/applications, except HijackThis, are closed. Then click on "fix checked".

Download Ccleaner and save it to your desktop.
Tutorial for CCleaner
During the installation be sure to UN-check the box for "Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar" unless you want it
Click on Options,
Select Advanced
Now UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours"
Make sure the Cleaner block on the left is selected.
Do not use the "Issues" block . It's meant for professionals.
Choose the Windows tab.
Check everything EXCEPT Advanced part of the Menu.

Hello,
This weekend my antivirus came up positive for possible spyware detection "unvise32", I guess aka...GRAYWARE. I followed the instructions through Trendmicro to remove it from my registry keys and the folder it was detected in. Follow up scans have turned up nothing. I used "X-Cleaner", Microsoft Antispyware BETA, Spybot S&D, CWShredder, GhostSurf Platinum, and Trendmicro. I was hoping maybe someone could take a look at my HJT log just to make sure there is nothing else is lurking in the shadows. I ran the HJT log through a couple off online analyzers but I was hoping a "professional eye" could take a peek. Thank you.

and told me it stopped it before it got into my computer and for me just to abort connection...

So...I just aborted connection and avast went off again... this time it says

A:avast detected virus in panda activescan while downloading the online scan

(it seems like everyone is busy with the msn yinstall virus??? )

so...
i went ahead and moved the virus to the chest and when i did, the pandaactivescan tried to finish downnloading and run...

i selected scan computer but it just sat at 0 % scanned and wouldn't begin, but it wouldn't allow me stop and exit either. so...

i x'd out and found the file and scanned it again with avast and the report was...

Scanning of selected files
Action was completed successfully!
Virus has been detected!
File Name: pskavs.dll
FileID: 4
Virus Description: Win32:CTX

i closed it and am now going to run avast full system virus scan including archives.

i don't know what else to do at this point.

i wonder if my damaged YInstStarter Class file is this msn virus that i've been reading about here while waiting???

i don't remember clicking any links in my mail... but i did just in the last two or three days reinstall msn messenger and opened it last night and today... hmm now what?

i guess i will run avast right now while i wait. i wish i had some direction because i am heavily dependant upon the internet almost 24 hours a day and have only my laptop at the moment. i will be lost without it...

please see what you can do to get back to me??? thanks

Today Norton Antivirus began to block threats from Trojan.Zeroaccess.B, Trojan.Gen, Trojan.Gen.2, and Trojan.Zeroaccess.C. I have been prompted to do a manual removal of Trojan.Zeroaccess!inf4 from c:\windows\system32\services.exe. Additionally, Bitcoinminer is being repeatedly detected, blocked and quarantined. I'm not sure if Norton is having a problem deleting/quarantining Bitcoinminer, or if it is actually being downloaded over and over. I suspect that these two problems are related, as they started at the same time.

From what I gather, the fix seems to be quite complicated and I would appreciate some help.

My system is running 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium w/ SP 1. Looking at similar threads, it looks like I'll need to use a flash drive to run removal tools. I do not currently have a flash drive on hand, but I do have an 4 GB SD card. Will that be a sufficient replacement?

It sounds like something is timing out.  It is hard to be sure without swapping either the drive or the MB.  You might go into the BIOS and select diagnostic mode for boot.  That would do a memory test and it might slow things down enough to mask the problem

Keyboard not detected, Mouse not detected. Fatal Error, System Halted.

That's what the system said, in DOS, on the black screen. Of course, I had my mouse and keyboard unplugged at the time, because I had just unplugged everything to move the computer.

Anyways, I plugged the keyboard and mouse in, restarted the computer, and everything started normally.

My question is, what is with this error? Vista can't boot up if I don't have a keyboard and mouse plugged in? It's not a big deal, but it seems like very odd behavior.

A:Keyboard not detected, Mouse not detected. Fatal Error, System Halted.

This has nothing to do with Vista whatsoever. As you said it showed up on the black screen with white text, which is the boot screen. The computer hasnt even started loading windows yet. The fatal eror occurs because you have no input device. The computer recognises this, and given that they are important, it puts a warning up that there is no connection.
It is completely normal, really, and whatever OS you have, its going to do the same thing.

Now, the thing is: I scanned the APK file both in Malware Bytes Anti Malware and Avast (and even Malware Bytes Anti Rootkit), and it showed no virus or malware found. But when I try to attach the the same APK file as a Gmail attachment (which I read on the net detects viruses, which is why I tried it), Gmail gives me a "Virus found" error.

So, my question is how come such reliable antivirus / anti-malware programs like MBAM and Avast didn't detect the virus but Gmail did? And more importantly, (though I have deleted the APK file in question from my computer) is my computer safe? Or has a rootkit / trojan been installed?

A:Virus not detected in Avast & MBAM, but detected when I upload the file to Gmail

Upload file in question here: https://www.virustotal.com/ for security check.

I should have came to this conclusion sooner, but my current re-installation of Windows has some problems that I haven't had the time to address until now. What I need, though, is access to the repair function on the disk. However, herein lies my problem...

When I boot up, media in the drive or no media, bios does not show the drive in its list. I can still open and close the drive as if nothing is wrong there, but I cannot "boot from CD". I've reset my bios back to defaults and while the drive appeared on IDE Channel 1 in the settings, it still would not recognize ANY media while booting up.

I have the latest version of my bios. I have also tried changing cables. The drive is on an IDE channel by itself.

Once my system boots into Windows, however, the drive is recognized and acts normally as if nothing happened in bios. Media operates fine. I have checked the event viewer, and there are no entries anywhere that states my optical drive has been experiencing problems, and yes, in fact it operates just like it always does.

Can anyone help me get my bios and cdrom back together again? The problem is I just do not know where to start to solve this. I wish I could say how long this has been happening, but I really don't know as of today. There have been no hardware changes in the past three months, and my current installation and configuration began back in late April.

Thanks for your time...

A:CD/DVDROM drive - not detected by bios, detected by Windows?

What is the boot sequence in the bios? should be CD or optical drive first, then Hard Drive or IDE-0 second if you want to boot from the cd-drive. Many computer manufacturers set the computer to automatically boot off of the hard drive by default so setting the factory defaults might not be what you are looking for. Look for the screen that has the boot order or sequence and just change it, exit and save settings and restart the computer with the boot cd in the drive. I hope that helps.

Hi guys,

I bought a bluetooth dongle off of amazon so I could use my bluetooth headset with my comp. Once plugged in it installs driver version 6.1.7601.17889 from microsoft and there are no yellow '?'s. When I look for devices it sees my headset no probs but will not connect, which it does instantly with phones / tablets etc.

A very detailed search has brought me to the conclusion that it's a problem with the bluetooth driver, not the headset. Unfortunately there are no identifiers on the dongle itself but device manager seems to think it's:

Device type: Bluetooth Radios
Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio Ltd

Is there anyway I can detect exactly the chipset in the dongle and get the correct drivers installed? Or am I barking up the wrong tree completely?

Thanks.

I went to connect today and my dialup connection was gone.  I thought, well, I'll recreate it....but Windows would not let me and said (in the Connect to a Network box):  "Windows could not detect a dialup modem", "Is the modem connected?", "is the modem switched on?"

It is an internal modem.

I went to Device Manager, and there it is as usual, "This device is working properly".

A:Dialup modem detected, but not detected, huh?

Doing some searching gave me this solution:

It is caused by certain services being shut off for unknown reasons.... definitely unknown in my case (??).

Delete or rename the following folder:
c:\windows\system32\logfiles\wmi\rtbackup
(the folder, rtbackup)

However, it has some kind of protection and doesn't allow itself to be so changed.  I did it from a DOS boot disk with NTFS4DOS.

Everything is working.

Hello!

I've been working on this off and on for a week or 2 - searching the net hi and lo, including this site, and can't come up w/anything, so I'm resorting to posting here...

I've just built this PC (configuration should be in sig), and installed Win98SE on it.

I have a SoundBlaster PCI 128 CT 4700 (w/ES1370 chip) that I bought off a friend. He didn't have the original CD w/drivers.

I've downloaded SEVERAL different "updated" drivers from various sources (including Creative), but nothing seems to work.

Here's what happens:

Start PC
Windows sees new hardware and starts installing drivers. About the same time another window pops up:

Windows
Creative Sound Blaster PCI128 Hardware not detected. The driver will be disabled.
OK

Press OK, this reveals the window in the bg:

System Settings Change
To finish setting up your new hardware, you must restart your computer. Do you want to restart your computer now?
YES NO

Click Yes...

1)cmos/whatever screens flash, then
2)Windows98 lite blue startup screen
3)then dos screen for a few seconds - I have installed LetAssign that lets my "Data drive" be called D, and the "Games drive" be called G, etc...
4)then big blue screen with "dos-like" text:

Press "any" key....

Windows continues to start up just fine.

Hello, I recently bought a Probook 450 G4, i7 7500U with 1 TO HDD and 8GB RAM. I wanted to upgrade it with an SSD so I bought a ADATA Premier SP550 2280 M.2 SSD. The BIOS detected it normally, but windows installer wouldn't find it. I removed the HDD and tried again, same issue. I then installed windows 10 on the HDD to try and format the SSD in windows and surprise! no sign of the SSD nowhere, not in browser nor in Disk Managment or Diskpart. Apparently HP disabled the M.2 port in BIOS as mentioned here ( https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/M-2-SSD-Upgrade/m-p/5580822#M3... ) I updated the BIOS the the latest version provided by HP for my laptop model and the same issue is still ongoing, this is a 120$ SSD that I can't use nor return as the problem is the HP product not ADATA's SSD! The simplest solution is in the hands of HP, just release a BIOS update with the M.2 port ENABLED ! why brag about having a M.2 port in your products and then DISABLE it ?! Any insights please ? Many Thanks. PS: I started a new thread yesterday and it is no longer available now ! did HP remove it or what ? it was there for a while and I'm sure! what a shame !

I picked up a computer off craiglist was thoroughly enjoying my gtx geforce 680 ( https://boston.craigslist.org/sob/sys/6239989909.html ) when it "crashed" about 6 hours after purchase. When I rebooted I received the "no hard disk detected" message. Upon launching bios setup the hard drive is listed with details as being attached to its corresponding sata port. I am trying to determine if my hard drive is broken or if it needs remounting or some other sort of procedure.

The hard drive is a slightly dated WD Carver 1 TB SATA internal drive interacting with an asus motherboard. I did notice the boot order for drives had been rearranged putting an external and an optical disk drive in position 1 and 2 for boot directories. I disabled both the external and optical disc and selected the WD sata drive as the first preference for booting. Still I am getting the same error. I read somewhere that if the bios is recognized in setup but is still not recognized for booting that I may need to run a 32bit diagnostic. The forum I saw the diagnostic post mentioned on was in reference to a dell machine. I don't really know what this is or if it exists on my ASUS mother board.

In short: how can I tell If my hard drive needs replacement?

If Bios recognizing the drive is sign of life how can I get my computer to recognize this drive again?

are there any programs I could download on my laptop and put on my external that could be used to boot and run diagnostics on t... Read more

My laptop has suddenly started running CHKDSK during startup. After it completes and finishes booting I go to Properties > Tools > Error Checking of my C drive and click ?Check?. It says errors were found on this drive and to repair drive now to prevent data loss. I click to run it, the system reboots, I see the prompt to cancel CHKDSK by pressing any key, let it run, the screen remains blank with just the little spinning dots. It finishes (in less than a minute, which is faster than it usually takes) and loads to desktop. I check the C drive properties again and it still says there are errors and to repair.

Running CHKDSK from CMD prompt I get ?Windows has scanned the file system and found no problems. No further action is required.? Running a 3rd-party disk checker (Disk Doctor, Tune-Up Utilities) also reports no errors. Yet the properties dialog continues to warn that there are errors.

I can?t be certain when this started. Just noticed this yesterday when I booted up (I don?t usually stick around and watch the computer boot). Windows has all the latest updates/patches. This is an HP ENVY laptop that came with Windows 10 pre-installed.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hi
My Kingston Data
Traveller 8 GB drive (1 yr old) is not getting detected on my new PC (2 weeks old). It was working perfectly on my old pc, and is working fine on my office PC, frnd's PC, Philips DVD player, Sony HiFi audio system.

My mobo is Biostar TA785GE 128M, OS is win xP Pro 32 bit. The drive is detected on all USB ports of mobo, but as soon as I start any data transfer, it crashes and i get error that data cannnot be transfered.

The Disk Management (My Computer - Manage) shows the drive as healthy, but after I start any file transfer, in a few seconds, it reads "Unreadable". Sometimes, the drive letter also goes missing. In brief, the drive is displayed in My Computer till any file transfer is initiated. As soon as any file trnsfr starts, I get error that file transfer is not complete and the drive goes missing.

My frnd's UsB drive (2 GB), and my old 256 mb drive, both work and files are transferred which removes the doubt that there is some prob in USB ports. As the 8gb pen drive works on other PCs and devices, so i guess the drive is okay. I ran HDtune for it, and it has no bad sectors. That leaves my OS as the culprit (I assume). Looks like there is some problem in the way XP maps the USB drive.

I've tried many things, and here is my observation:

* Changed drive letter to other letters, but to no avail. Changed drive letter to a working USB drive letter, but failure again.
* Formatted many times, but data transfe... Read more

ESS Modem

OK - When I look at Device Manager, the modem shows up. When I go to Properties / Diagnostic / Query Modem, it is fine.

When I run Juno, it is able to successfully retrieve e-mail (it just dials and connects).

I CANNOT connect to the web - Juno says that there is no modem installed. Upon further investigation, when I go to Connections and try to add a new connection, I am not allowed a choice of using a modem.

So - Device Manager and Juno E-mail both think that the modem works fine. Connection Wizard and Juno WWW both think that no modem exists.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the modem, to no avail. Oh, and yes, it used to work, and I can't get the user to remember a specific time when it stopped working.

Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Don't know much about fixing hijackers except running the spyware programs so maybe someone can help me out. here's my hijack this log. thanks in advance.

Hey everyone..

This isn't just the old "oh I forgot to update my driver"

Here's the story:

Recently I somehow got a bunch of viruses coming out of nowhere..and then I plug in my USB..it doesn't get detected...but my AVG does say that there are more Trojans getting detected..so I delete them

But now I try my USB on any computer and it wont work..

Is there this hidden software in the USB that allows it to be "plug and play"?

Even my hardware installation wizard wont detect it..

I had alot of stuff on it..4Gig worth..I'd love to get it back..

Thanks..

I've rediscovered my ThinkPad X61 which is quite a nice laptop, and after upgrading the memory noticed a slot for a SIM card. The problem is that  I am unable to use it. After nuch experimenting I've found that it uses a Sierra Wireless MC8775 3G card, and that if I press Fn+F5  I bring up the Lenovo Access Communications program which has an option for using Mobile Broadband. Unfortunately that tells me to insert a SIM card... I've tried inserting various SIM cards in both directions but it makes no difference. Someone suggested that the 3G card is locked to the Vodafone network, but if that was the case, wouldn't I get a different error msg such as 'SIM is not usable'?... I'll try and get hold of a Vodafone SIM to see if that makes any difference but suspect it won't. Any advice appreciated.

For some unknown reason to me, when the computer is turned on it is displays that IDE is not detectd and then goes to a black page with white writing, asking if i want to put the computer into safe mode, last configuration or start windows normally. I have tried putting starting with safe mode and normally, but after selcting these it starts to load, then reboots itself, and the computer will not start up at all. What is Wrong With it and How can i fix this?

A:Help, IDE Not Detected?

It could be a bad sector which houses a vital part of the Laster Boot Record or maybe the disk has become unmountable. Either way, an answer lies within your XP CD, assuming you have one.

Pop it in and if it doesn't run first time, restart and tap Delete to Function 2 on startup to access the BIOS menu, then seek out the Boot Order or Boot Sequence and change it to CD first. Save the changes and exit (usually Function 10) and you should see a message to "Hit and key to boot from CD". Do that and the file copy process runs through. Press Function 8 when prompted to accept the terms of the EULA. At the enxt stall of the screen, select R for Repair and you will be offered the choice of which system to repair. Usually it's Number 1 so type 1 and press Enter. When the Command Prompt appears, type chkdsk /r, hit Enter and wait while a five stage process runs.

Then at the next prompt, type fixmbr and hit Enter. Accept the warning and when that completes, type fixboot and hit Enter again. One more warning and you can type exit to leave the system and restart.

Hopefully, it will work - if not post back for details of curing the unmountable disk.

OK, So here's the problem. I had a computer that was running just fine, and I went ahead and upgraded to windows XP from 2000. It ran fine for about a couple of days, and a few days down the line my start bar just never showed up anymore, and the computer was kinda feeling slow (well it felt slow after upgrade).

So I created a boot disk and tried to reformat and the computer and it never recoginzed the hard drive or any optical drive. I installed the hard drive in another computer and I have access to all files on that HD. (HD partioned to C: and D
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY SUGGESTIONS ON A FIX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've gone through everything in bios and cant find anything related to memory. its using the card but not at the capacity its rated, how do I make windows realize its a new card.

Some days ago appeared the error "513 front chassis fan not detected" on boot the PC. Really the pc never has the front fan... I had update the bios to last version (L02 v02.49). Now the error is: "511 CPU fan not detected"... But the CPU fan is clean and rotate normally. I had also run the complete test of HP Diagnostic Tools, but there is not error. What is the problem? I really need to replace the CPU fan? Or it is a fake error? Thanks

My CD-ROM is present in BIOS and in Device Manager, I get a "new hardware found" message, but it is not present in My Computer. I scanned my devices in Norton 360, and to it the drive appeared to be disabled; but Norton recognized that it existed. Some people say if you delete the upper and lower filters values in the registry, it will fix the problem; but if I do that, my computer won,t boot properly. I have to go into safe mode and restore the registry before it will work. Do I have any recourse except re installing XP?
