I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows Server 2012 R2

I created a user defined Data Collector in PerfMon (running as administrator) based on this post:

The Data Collector is listed under the the Data Collection Sets | User Defined | Server Manager Performance Monitor | My Data Collector.

When I right click on Server Manager Performance Monitor then choose 'Start' I get the following window:
[Window Title]
Performance Monitor
[Main Instruction]
When attempting to start the Data Collector Set the following system error occurred:
The operator or administrator has refused the request.

My user account is in the local Administrator group as is Domain Admins which I'm a member. I also added my user account to the local perfmon groups.

I also made sure the local Administrators group is in 'Log on as a batch job' in User Rights Assignment. As recommended on some other troubleshooting steps.

Still not working, any other troubleshooting ideas? Most of what I've found relates to Task Scheduling and I'm able to create in there without issue.

I have placed a couple of user defined data collector sets on my machine to monitor remotely a number of other servers.
I left those data sets running for a round a month and I want to stop them now.
Every time I select any of those data sets and click the stop button, the stop button grays out, leave it for a considerable time, then refresh ... but nothing changed. the data set stays in running status.
I tried this with all the remote monitoring data sets, but non of them stopped.
The size of the data set is increasing uncontrollably and I have to stop them, but I don't want to delete what has been collected ...... How can I do that?

I've already asked the
question regarding auto-starting the data collector sets and have posted MS's answer - now it seems the issue can be much broader: I failed to make my user defined data collector sets start according to their schedules, for example:
I created a test data collector set (with several CPU counters), saved it as a template and tested it on Windows Server 2008R2 and Windows Server 2019:

I've tested various user defined data collector sets on all my Windows Server 2019 computers - physical and virtual, domain and non-domain joined, the result is always the same - the data collector sets just don't start and the following event(s) get registered
in the Diagnosis-PLA log:

Here's the codes' description -

No issues arise when starting the data collector sets manually.
Can anyone tell me if it works on your computers with Windows Server 2019?

I am trying to delete user data files and folders from the user profile folder on the server side. I don't know why they are saving to the profile to begin with and they reappear after deleting them from the profile. I removed the files from the documents and settings profile folder on the client and they have not returned, however the server copy of the profile keeps coming back with the user data files and folders. Also wondering what files should be saved to the profile so I don't remove something that should be there.

A:xp profiles have user data files in them

hey, well the profile folder in the server is shared and here user can safe their profile setting known as "roaming profile" if you go to your user then right click and choose properties and it will have some text there about user profile make sure there is nothing written there.

also i don't think you should delete these files because these are used to structure the users background and other settings.

Microsoft collects Windows diagnostic data to keep Windows up-to-date, secure, and operating properly. It also helps us improve Windows and, for users who have turned on ?tailored experiences?, can be used to provide relevant tips and recommendations to tailor Microsoft products to the user?s needs. I'm creating the set of performance data collection sets on multiple computers. This is fine and it is working as smooth as possible with logman. The challenge I do have is the "expiration time". I would like to be sure that those data collections
are in use only a certain time, and by the GUIs I can do that either from performance counter tool, or modify the task itself.
But how I'm able to do that by scripting? I cannot modify the files directly on the path: "C:\Windows\System32\Tasks\Microsoft\Windows\PLA\" as that somehow corrupts the files. It is strange as the file is still just a general text file. Perhaps
somewhere there are the hashes for the files and those are not in sync anymore after direct modification.
Has anybody success to control the data collection sets from the script. On the Windows 7 of course..
PowerShell from W2012 to Win7 did not work.

I've searched the Web and seen lots of theories and arguments on what Microsoft collects on its new operating system. I've seen people say statistics, basic data. I've seen people say Cortina's voice commands, Bing searches, even email content. I've heard about a possible keylogger that got "removed" on the final version. I've seen Microsoft disclaimers saying data was needed to improve user's experience. And finally I've seen Microsoft say any info will be delivered to the government if the law required it, the user was under legal sight or to protect consumers.

Now the question I wanna make is: does Microsoft collect information on third party sites/apps, just as Gmail instead of Hotmail/Outlook? And finally does Microsoft access to user's personal files, such as pictures?

I know Microsoft does not care about my private holidays on Guatemala, and this is not a thread to discuss whether they spy or do not spy on us. I just want to know how deep is this issue, just to know what I'm installing.

Anyone's got a clue?

PS: is keylogger really removed?

Bought used laptop to replace old, had clean OS install by vendor with license.

When starting up the only account was "owner." I chose "rename account" to my wife's old
user name "Bethie" . Rebooted, new machine now shows account "Bethie" on the standard
Win 7 start button menus.

When preparing to restore data folders, I noticed new machine now had TWO users, the "owner"
folder was still present. But since "Bethie" is the identity showing on the start menus I presumed
that it was using the "Bethie" folder tree.

So I restored all user folders from backup "Bethie" to new machine "Bethie."

Reboot, no user files found, the folders are all present but in newly created user form with no
restored data. However when opening "Computer" and "C:\" and "Users\Bethie" folders, the
hard drive shows all the restored data files.

What do I change about either login or accounts so that when I log in and the start menu
shows the correct user "Bethie" --that it will find all the restored data files that are under
the hard drive folder "Bethie?"

I have done win support in the past, can do regedit, or work in the hard drive folder system to drag/
drop folders into new top folders etc. Thanks for any help.

My Toshiba Satellite L25-S1216 laptop is slow ever since I had a few blue screens last Spring-Summer. Extensive testing of the Hitashi Travelstar 60Gb internal Hard Drive indicated that it is healthy. Outlook 2013 stores the .PST file for POP3 accounts in the C:\Documents\Outlook Files folder making it very convent to back up email, calendars, contact and rules. Unfortunately .OST files for any IMAP account(s) are stored in another folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook making it a little less convenient to make a quick backup. I believe that Outlook 2016 will allow you to keep the .OST and the .PST together in the Outlook Files folder in Documents.

Since I don?t plan to upgrade to Office 2016 just for this feature, I found an article that suggest using a symbolic like to relocate .OST files in Outlook 2013. The articles is at:

However, I recall reading somewhere, maybe it was regarding Win 8.1, that using a soft symbolic link (MKLINK) would interfere with future upgrades. Does anyone know or have any observations this is true? I?d like to hear as many opinions as possible since we have a major update coming on August 2. Thanks for your input.

A:Using MKLINK on Outlook 2013 data files in a User subfolder

One never knows what an upgrade will do. Each upgrade is like a new OS install. You could always just write a small script to execute after every upgrade to re-set it.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to put together a prototype for demonstrating the Access 2010 data collection feature integrated with Outlook. So I created a simple table with an email address field in it, then used the "Create Email" feature under data collection in Access, went through the wizard and all works fine, I get the email with the data entry form, I do a reply and the data in Access get updated just fine. Now to the part that is now working, I have an data macro "On Update" which is simple and will send back a conformation email, when I fire this macro by updating the table data (row) manually the macro works and sends the email, but when the data gets updated from the reply email explained above the macro does nor work, I checked the log file and found an error "The 'SendEmail' action failed because the current database is not trusted.". I Googled this error and followed the suggested solution by creating a folder, add it to trusted locations, move my DB to that folder, I still get the same error.

Please help

A:Access 2010 data collection feature

You might try making sure the trusted location allows network trusted and allows subfolders trusted, hopefully that will solve your problem.

In short, it really depends on the situation (how the firewall component was engineered and how good the malware is about security software awareness and the techniques it uses).

If you have a firewall component activated in a security product on your system, then it will be monitoring the traffic (usually both in-bound and out-bound (firewalls which monitor both in and out bound are also referred to as "two way firewalls")). This means that when a program either attempts to obtain information from the internet (connect to a host and retrieve information) or send information (connect and then attempt to send back) the firewall would be monitoring this activity. If a malware sample is attempting to make a connection which the firewall either automatically or due to the configuration decides to block, then this malicious process will become a failure at either obtaining or sending information.

However, in some cases it may be potentially possible for the malware sample to successfully obtain and send information, regardless of the original process being blocked. I wouldn't worry about something like this happening because most firewall components (from well-established vendors) these days are tested thor... Read more

The United States Department of State wants to make it mandatory for all foreigners to provide social media details when applying for a visa to enter the US.

US authorities want to modify three visa application forms. The changes made to the three forms would make it mandatory for all visa applicants ?immigrant and non-immigrant? to provide all social media handles used in the last five years.

Diplomatic visas will be exempt from this new rule and some applicants might be asked to provide a list of emails and phone numbers used in the past five years, for additional vetting purposes.

The Department of State has not detailed the list of social media platforms for which it intends to collect account names but said the forms would include an optional section where applicants can enter usernames for online platforms not included in the main list.

Nearly 15 million visa applicants affected
The State Department is seeking Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval to modify three US visa forms ?DS-156, DS-160, and DS-260.

These are visa forms that immigrant and non-immigrant visa applicants must fill in and submit before being allowed to enter the US. US officials estimate 710,000 immigrant seekers and 14 million non-immigrant visa applicants will be affected.

My friend had accidentally deleted all her achieve folders in Microsoft Outlook, I tried to import the achieve PST files but can't find any in her document&setting and actually her achieves file become "Office Data Files" instead of .PST and "Outlook Data Files". But if I copy the achieve into my own XP and Vista, all the achieve file will become.PST. Can anyone assist me to troubleshoot so that I'm able to retrieve the datas for my friend. Thanks.
And also I realised that her file name in her window doesn't appear file format. Eg test.xls, xls doesn't appear. Please help.
Thanks a lots.

A:Office data files & outlook data files

Hi DesignCreatrix

Was Outlook removed from the machine, as well?
.pst files are still .pst files, they just need Outlook to read them.

Hide extensions for known file types, may need to be disabled.
For Windows XP:
Control Panel > Tools > Folder Options > View tab
Uncheck: Hide extensions for known file types
Apply, OK to save and close.

To connect the Archive.pst file (or any .pst file) to Outlook:
File > Open > Outlook Data File
Browse to the location of the .pst file and select it, the Personal Folders (.pst file) should then appear in Outlook.

Let us know if that helps or not.

Hi everyone,

I am really curious how to disable Windows logging. I was reading something on Wikipedia about privacy and security; and came across something interesting that I cannot find much about on Google. It stated that "many programs and operating systems are set up to perform data logging of usage". For example, this might be recording the times when the computer was in use, or some applications we use on Windows. Whoever wrote the article stated that its possible to disable Windows logging - but my question is - is it? And how can this be achieved?

Having just learned from an OLD post here that renaming a user account apparently doesn't change the order in which the corresponding logon icons appear at startup -- due to the order being apparently determined by when each folder was originally created, which was when this computer was first opened back in 2011 -- I want to be able, after creating a new user account, to migrate data from the account whose name I changed. My user profile became corrupted after years of problem-free usage (no clue why), so now I always end up in a temporary account after a reboot.

As per Microsoft's instructions I found here Fix a corrupted user profile - Windows Help, I

1. created a new account
2. logged out and logged in again using another account (not the newly created one)
3. tried to copy the data from the account that had its user profile corrupted to the new account.

However, under C:\Users, the user folder I want to copy from is a white generic icon (not a folder) and it is padlocked and has a size of 0KB - so I can't open it to copy from. Looking at how much data is on C: it looks as if all my data could still be there (I hope).

How could I get access to copy all data from my old account into the new account?

Many thanks in advance for some hints as to what to do!

Hello, I've been struggling with getting a simple InfoPath 2007 form to work with a test MS Access 2007 database. I feel the best way to explain what I am doing is by giving you an example.

Background of scenario:

Lets say I am a distributor of gas cylinders. I have 100 different gas cylinders that I fill and send to customers. When they are done with the gas, they return the cylinders and I fill them back up. Each cylinder has specific data related to each: manufacturer, serial #, specific cylinder ID, and material of construction (carbon steel, stainless steel, etc). I have this data in my MS Access database, in an individual table called "CYLINDER_DATA". Every time I refill a cylinder, I need to record the date and measure the pressure and temperature (among other things) of the gas in the cylinder. This data (along with the specific "CYLINDER_DATA" at this date of measurement) must be added as a new record in a different table called "CYLINDER_MEASUREMENTS" in the same database.

What I would like to do:

So, I want to create an InfoPath form for operators to use whenever they need to perform measurements on a newly filled cylinder. So, I created an InfoPath form, that starts with a drop-down list box control that is populated with the 100 different cylinder IDs. A user would choose one of the "cylinder IDs" from the drop down list and then click "retrieve data". This would then populate the fields directly below:... Read more

Internet Explorer on Windows 10 stopped working only for one certain user. I can still "Run as Administrator" or I can run it as a different user on same PC. Not on a domain. I have already tried Reset using Run As Administrator but that did not
help. I also tried clearing cache, running with /xoff option. Nothing helps for that user (me).
Is there a way I can clear off whatever user data/settings that is preventing me from running IE11 as normal user (I have admin priv)?

results = "151","183","2001"

A:Solved: Excel Column of data place in one cell with "data", "data" results

ASAP's "Merge row data" ("Columns and rows" category) will do 99% of the work for you.

(edit: "entire column" -- do you mean full from top to bottom? )

So I created a new user on my laptop and when I went to sign in today, windows was treating me like a brand new user, all of my files, history everything was gone. I went into my user data via my computer and everything was there but windows wont recognise it as me. I transferred everything to my external just in case but any idea how to get all that back on to my desktop?

A:user data gone!!!!

When you look at Users you should also see your other one(s). Try rebooting and see if both are present.
