I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In an Access 2002 database, we have a hyperlink field on a form. When the user double-clicks on this field, I want to have the Explorer-like file browser pop up automatically; after the user selects the file, the UNC should be inserted as the value of the hyperlink field; and finally, when the user clicks on the filename, it should open the file. The users are totally lost if they have to navigate through multiple steps, and I want to automate this as much as possible.

This all worked just fine in Access 97 when I set the Event Procedure for double-click to DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdInsertHyperlink, then I used SendKeys to remove the Relative Link, open up the file browser, and change the file type to All Files instead of Office Files (the user usually needs to insert a JPG.)

In Access 2002, there are two problems. The first issue is that the Insert Hyperlink dialog box has changed, and there's no shortcut key assigned to Browse For File (it's just a toolbar button). I don't know how to tell Access to open it via code.

The second problem is that even if I manually browse to the file, absolutely nothing is added to the text box and the hyperlink is empty (in the dialog box, the full UNC path isn't showing up; instead, it looks like:
../../sharename/subfolder/file.jpg
but then when I click OK everything disappears.)

If I manually type in the full UNC path into the text box without trying to browse for it, the hyperlink works fine. I checked the db properties... Read more

Hello, We have gone to the website

The PDF file opens with no problem but the links are not enabled. The file works in an Apple Machine and Google Chrome. However, if we download the file physically inside of the computer and then open the file with Adobe Reader, the links all work! Any ideas
how to solve this issue? Thanks Miguel Moreno

The link works fine in Windows o/s for XP and prior. In Vista I had to tell a third party firewall software - zonealarm- to let the program thru and now the cd works fine.

My windows 7 pc has no additional firewall program and when you click on the link it opens up a blank window and hangs there....Any ideas? This is a cd i need to send to my clients and i need to make sure they can access the htm file it or at least i know how.

Your browser and/or computer is infected with adware/spyware/malware of some sort.

To start with, check what extensions/addons are installed in your browser. If you are lucky, one of those might be the culprit.

Get a anti-malware software. I've heard good things about MalwareBytes and Spybot

Consider getting a anti-virus software, if you need a free one try Microsoft Security Essentials

First thanks for taking the time to give me a hand w/ this one.. I have been pulling my hair out all day w/ this one..

First, the problem. I d/l a torrent file that when I went to open the movie requested to authenticate the video, it went to install a small program and like an idiot... I let it.

After that moronic install, I have not been able to start spybot at all. Adaware ran once, found something, deleted it and now won't run. No other malware program I've d/l'd and ran has worked. Every hyperlink I click has a 75% chance of going to some random advertisement. Upon my many restarts to see if my programs were faulty, I'd say half would end w/ "Windows is starting" light blue screen and then the computer would then freeze there. -Edit- My floppy drive has been lighting up every couple of minutes now too.. mhh

I have a client with a very strange problem which I can replicate on several computers other than theirs. IE will open the website. You can close IE reopen and go back to the site. However if you click a link to website within a Word 2010 document or Excel spreadsheet IE gives an error that the page can not be displayed. If you then close IE and Word, reopen IE and try to go to the site it says page can not be displayed. If you wait apporx 30 min and try again IE will display the page. But if you reopen Word or Excel, click the link you get the same error again and IE will not open the page. This issue only happen with this particular site, no others. The other interesting part is once one computer on the network errors out no computer on the same network can access the site either for approx. 30 min.

The same link works fine in Outlook. All computers are using Win7 64.

I have a computer with Office 2003 on it and everything works fine.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated

I am using windows 7 with office 2010.

I am trying to use the text in an adjacent cell, a movie title, search a folder to find a shortcut to that movie title, and have it appear next to the title. I have been searching using Google, using small precise search terms such as "excel macro file" or "excel macro search for file". I have gotten kind of close to what I'm looking for, but not quite there.

Hopefully the code below will give the reader of this post a better idea of what I'm trying to do. I was initially thinking a search routine, but then realized that the path was always the same (all of these shortcuts are in the same folder), so why not just copy the text from the adjacent cell and "build" my own link. That's what the following routine does and it does work ... provided all the movies are the same format, i.e., .wmv, .avi, .mkv, etc., which they are not. As a result the only two choices I have would be to convert all the movies to the same format, which would take for ever, or use a search routine, which I haven't mastered, and where I need some help.
Here is the build your own link routine:

A:[Resolved] Can't open a new window from a text hyperlink

Hi,

This one occurs frequently with IE 6.0 installations in Win98, and it's almost always due to a oleaut32.dll version conflict.

Do this:

Go to Start/run, and type SFC.
Choose 'Extract One File From Installation Disk'.
Type oleaut32.dll, not worrying about its location. Then, click Start.

Next to 'Restore From', type in or browse for the file’s location, which is probably in the Win98 folder of your installation CD-ROM (typically D:\Win98), or in your Windows\Options\Cabs folder, as the case may be.

Then, next to 'Save File In', enter C:\Windows\System, and click OK. System File Checker looks for the file, saves it as you requested, and then tells you that 'the file has been successfully extracted'.

Good luck,

Hi,

I have a Hewlett Packard Vectra desktop pc
Pentium 3, 930 Mhz, 128MB ram
Windows XP home edition upgrade
This is a very strange problem, it may have to do with my registry.
After running a registry scan and fixing errors, I noticed that all
my software programs that display any kind of html, such as
Outlook Express, my html editor, my keyword research tool, and
my webpage design software, will no longer display, but instead,
a windows screen pops up prompting me to either open the file
in my browser or save it, thus, rendering my software programs
useless. I have no idea how to fix this and I don't have the technical
knowledge for this type of problem. If need be, I will reformat
the hard drive and just start over, but would rather fix the problem.
I scanned the registry twice (mistake), so I don't think I can go back to the way it was.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Sorry I don't have the answer but I think I know what's going on, and it might spark
a solution for the problem.

I believe the problem lays in the parent/child process relationship.
When you open the link from within Outlook than Outlook is the parent of that process,
in this case its Chrome, When you launch Chrome using a shortcut than it is Explorer.exe
that owns that process now.

It could be a bug or a security constraint built-in on purpose.

I found a solution to this problem when I had it on my own computer (Win 7) a few months ago but have run into it again when I installed Access 2010 on a friend's computer (XP). In an Access application that utilizes hyperlinks to photo files elsewhere on the hard drive, in all prior versions (before Access 2007), the hyperlink opened to the default application for a jpeg. (MS Photo Viewer, or Picasa Viewer, or Irfanview). However, starting with Access 2007, the pictures open only in IE. I do not want to embed the photos in the database - it would get huge very fast. I vaguely recall that the problem was fixed by modifying a registry key, but cannot find the reference to it in any of my searches at this time. Can someone help me get this working? It seems like a modest request, to have Access open the file with the app of choice rather than a browser...

Now I have managed to work with some code where I am able to do as such, however I am getting stuck at a very simple part.

The code works and opens the required page in the pdf in internet explorer, however I need different pdfs to open through the hyperlinks in different cells. Unfortunately, when I click a hyperlink, it is opening all the pdfs I've specified. Is there a way to assign the code to one singular cell so that only the required pdf opens through that cell, and similarly different pdfs in different cells?

I have to add hyperlinks to about 100 cells and while a few of them will open the same document, the pages will be different.

Basically, when I click a link, I just want the req'd page in the pdf to open, but it is opening all the pages specified, even ones for different cells.

The following is my code:

Private Sub Worksheet_BeforeDoubleClick(ByVal Target As Range, Cancel As Boolean)
Dim IE As Object
Dim s As String, sFile As String
Dim iPageNum As Long
If Range("J17").Value <> "" Then
sFile = "C:\Passdowns\Linked Procedures\Startup Guide.pdf" '<- Modify to suit
iPageNum = 12
Set IE = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
IE.Navigate sFile & "#Page=" & iPageNum
IE.Visible = True
End If

A:Open excel hyperlink to specific page on local pdf

You need to loop through the range with a variable and use the value of that to access the cell.
At the moment you are treating the whole array of cells as one.

I am unable to open any hyperlink or any website that is contained in my microsoft outlook email. This just started occurring. I get the following error messages.
"Windows cannot open this file. Windows needs to know what program created it"
It gives me two choices: 1. use the web to find the program that created it or 2. select from a list. None of these options work. I hope that someone can help solve this problem as I am now unable to open any link or web contained in the email. As an example, I was unable to click on your "confirm registration" email when I just signed up for this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I have a data base of PFD drawings and I would like them to be accessible in a master schedule in excel.

As of now we type in a part # and a cell finds the part description and inserts it in the adjacent cell.

I worked out a way to make a hyperlink in a separate file that links to a folder holding the drawings (FYI, that's 800 hyperlinks !). My schedule sheet then uses a vlookup to find the hyperlink associated with the part number cell. The friendly name of the hyperlink in the intermediate spreadsheet is the same as the actual hyperlink, so the Schedule sheet shows a hyperlink in the cell and will open the drawing.

I'm not a programer but I can fudge my way threw such things. I woudl like to keep it simple:
Can I create a hyperlink in the Schedule that would reference a cell (part number) and find that PDF file (named the same as the part #) in a file folder and be able to hit that cell and open the drawing when needed.

I don't know VB, but I do use macros on occasion.

I hope this is clean. Any suggestions?

Thanks

A:Finding a file using a hyperlink

As long as your naming and placement of the files in a directory is consistent you can just append the file name into a hyperlink path. I think there are controls that will open Windows seach as well.

Hello

I have the following PDF file whereby I am unable to open the links below. Chapter 10 Option 1 etc.

Qualitative Considerations

It is also important to take into consideration the non-financial elements of

replacing the equipment. New equipment and technology may allow CM2 to

operate more efficiently, but a consequence may be layoffs of skilled labor.

Layoffs could lead to decreased employee morale, which may lead to

employees being disgruntled and as a result, less productive. Analyzing

the effects of such a qualitative factor is an important consideration along

with the quantitative effects of replacing the equipment.

I have a question in reference to my hyperlink formatting in previously saved "Word" documents and any new PDF attachments. I am using Windows XP on my Dell 4600 series, Pentium-4, home computer for homework.

All my saved "word" documents show:
{ HYPERLINK http://www.jobsinri.com/seek/coresults2.aspx?co_num=9560}
instead of correctly showing : BUILDERS SURPLUS

I know you can point the cursor on the unformatted bracket hyperlink and then right-click to select "Remove Hyperlink"- which then returns it to the proper BUILDERS SURPLUS link. My question becomes is there a way to restore each document, the entire page(s) in one shot as opposed to selecting each hyperlink on every paragraph in one document manually? by repeating the manual process above?

Somehow I managed to change the formatting on all my saved "Word" documents and PDF attachments in emails to Hyperlink bracket instead of the actual URL link in example above: BUILDERS SURPLUS . I have gone to Tools->"Autocorrect Options" then selecting "Auto format" & "Auto format as you type" and putting a checkmark in the "Internet and Network paths with hyperlinks" but that only solves my problem for new "Word" documents not previously "saved" ones on my computer.

I appreciate any help and assistance in this tangled web that I have woven myself into.

Sincerely,
John

I am trying to create a macro that will look at the contents of a cell and insert it into an address on the server. For example, the contents of the cell is: folder\file

The location to hyperlink to is: \\server\share\folder\file.doc

I need to keep the file extension in the macro so that clicking the link will automatically open the file. I just need to get the contents of the cell to fill in the folder name and file name.

Thanks in advance.

We have an old MS-DOS program that runs from a batch file. When I try to access the program by clicking on it's hyperlink in an Excel spreadsheet, the program does not load (you can see the command line screen briefly, but it disappears). I can load the problem without any problems from it's network location, so I know the program is working. What is preventing the program from working/loading in Excel?

Hi everybody

I picked up some nasty malware. AVG was updating and suddenly everything just fell apart.

I can't run any installation programs regardless of the extension or name. I've tried to install Rkill and MalwareBytes with absolutely no luck. It defaults to needing to be unblocked in the properties and no matter what compatibility mode I use it will not run. I get a 1084 error when I try to open the security center. In the taskbar I have an Action Center alert that says 1 Important Message and 3 Total Messages. The Action Center will not open at all. I do not have access to a USB key as I am not home, but I will be Tuesday evening. Any help would be infinitely appreciated.

Other notes I forgot: I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit, and I am constantly getting errors that Windows can't load and needs to be repaired. It runs and restarts, sometimes being repaired and other times not.

Thanks a lot
Jared

A:Action center won't open, Internel Explorer only browser that will open, no MalwareBytes and RKill will not open

An update.

I've tried running MalwareBytes and RKill from a flash drive which is also not working. Windows also ends up unable to load, the startup repair runs and things work fine. Not long after Windows tries to update and then it becomes unable to load again and the startup repair runs again.

I tried running a registry fix for the .exe problem and I get an error stating that the registry is being used even when no programs are running and I am in safe mode.

Hope this information helps
thanks
Jared

I have a designated folder which stores my jpeg image files to be hyperlinked
to an Access 2007 database table. When I click on the images in that folder,
they are set to open using the "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer" app by
default. However, when I click on the hyperlinked jpeg image within Access,
they open using the app "Windows Internet Explorer" (IE). I don't know where in Access
I can change the app which opens the images within Access. I'd like for them
to open using the app of my choice (in this case, the Windows Picture and Fax
Viewer). All of this is on my local desktop PC (no servers or admin
personnel other than myself involved in settings). The OS is Microsoft
Windows XP.
Much Thanks!

A:ACCESS 2007: How do I control which app opens a hyperlink image file?

Sharon, welcome to the Forum.
Did you use the Control Panel to set the jpg and jpeg files to open using the "Windows Picture and Fax Viewer"?
Normally in Access it uses the Program that is the default for the type of File or the program that created it.

I need a script to add multiple hyperlinks to multiple files.

I have a Word document, with multiple rows and columns. Each 'cell' has 50 titles. I need to add a hyperlink for each title, to each respective video file in a particular folder.

Help?

The entire line can be the link. How do I define each cell, and each item in each cell?

How will each target file be defined in succession?

edit:
Looks like Windows will do this task for 1 item at a time, with a GUI dialogue. Is this a job for Open Office, with open source?

In Word 2000 under Insert Hyperlink, Word maintains a listing of recent files or browsed pages that you can use to insert hyperlinks into your document.

Is there someway to "flush" that list, when it become so long or so outdated as to begin to lose utility for the end-user? There must be some way to do that, since I noted that my files list (either at home or work) recently was zeroed out in the last couple of weeks or months.

A:Deleting File Locations Under Insert/Hyperlink in Word 2000

Okay, we have at least a partial answer to this question. Apparently if you flush your recently visited internet page history from your default browser, you will simultaneously delete the recently browsed pages under Insert > Hyperlink in Word 2000.

We're still in the hunt for information on how to deleted a list of the file locations that is also retained under Word 2000. Other entries?

I may not have this under the correct section and please keep in mind that I am not a programmer but here goes.

I am trying to add a hyperlink in Outlook 2007 signature file that will open a child site, but the child site seems to need some personalized information in the cache that comes from opening a parent site first:

Parent site: http://www.mywildtree.com/chad/
Child Site: http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/catalog.aspx

When the child site is opened directly (without opening parent first) it loads forever. The parent site does not require any authenication it just has to be opened first and then the child site operates correctly.

Is there a simple way to have one hyperlink either a) open two sites one after the other in the same window? or b) open the childsite with a parent site dependancy (tag?, bookmark?) on the hyperlink?

I have been on google searching all afternoon and haven't had any luck yet so any help is appreciated.

Thank you

A:Hyperlink syntax to open a parent site and then child site

Welcome to Seven Forums chadseeg. The Shop Now link shows as actually being http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/preshop.aspx, and this appears to redirect to http://www.mywildtree.com/shop/catalog.aspx.

Firefox blames the redirection

It looks like the script on the page is written to specifically prevent going directly to the shopping catalog without going through the home page. I'm not a webmaster, so I am unsure if this is intentional or not. A Guy
