Docking solution nicht working - External Monitor not detected with Helix 2

Q: Docking solution nicht working - External Monitor not detected with Helix 2

I have bought a Pro Dock (4X10H04503) as 'final solution' to simple remove the tablet for travel and plug it back for stationary use. This kind of works. But when cold booting the system (BIOS is set to boot when power is turned on), the monitor on the HDMI output never shows, isn't even detected by anything. So it doesn't show up on the Intel Graphics Properties for the HD 5300 neither. In order to make it work like in my current situation (T410s, docked, power-on boots, and switches to external monitor without any user interaction), I need to either unplug the power of the dock after login, or remove the tablet from the dock and put it back. Only then does the second monitor show as alternative, resepctively is switched to. Any help by someone who has an idea how to avoid the power_on - login - remove_tablet - insert_tablet cycle will be appreciated! Uwe

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey folks. I've read similiar postings, but this is slightly different. I've got a HP Compaz NX9010 laptop running Windows XP on a docking station with an HP external monitor hooked up. The external monitor works fine with or without the laptop closed, but the external will not run video streams or saved video files. Video will only run on the laptop screen. The only way I can get video to run is to use the <function> toggle keys and disable the laptop screen which has to be done each time the laptop is booted. Is there any way to fix the settings so that this does not have to be done each time I'm docked? Thanks for any assistance or ideas you might have.

When I switch between my home and work docking stations, the external monitor flickers.  I have tried what is recommended in this link:
www.dell.com/.../EN
But I don't have it plugged to the display port.  Both monitors are connected via DVI.  When I restart my computer there are no problems.  Only when I come out of sleep mode when changing docks.  The external monitors are different.  Both dells.    Video card driver is up to date.  Bios is up to date. The video card is Intel HD graphics 520 (driver 20.19.15.4531).  Display is Dell E2414H.  The dock is PR02X  F310C A03.  I have changed the monitor settings from auto detect to DVI input.   Also I disabled DDC/CI.
I believe this is a video card driver issue although it could be bios related.

Dear all I have bought a HP Zbook 15 laptop and installed Ubuntu 12.04. It does not show anything on the external monitor when I mount the laptop on the docking station.  After installing the Ubuntu 12.04 and putting it on the docking station for the first time, I got this problem:"If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver". I have attached the whole log file. Then, I installed the latest Nvidia driver, and restarted the machine. Below is a video of the issue. As a hint that the card might have some problem, sometimes the PC takes about 30 seconds to decide the graphic mode when the screen is turned on.I would like to understand how to troubleshoot the issue, determine if it can be- hardware failure (pin, chip damaged)- driver failure (but I have driver at level 10.18.14.4432 which seems the latest)and understand what should be repaired.any suggestion is very welcome, thanks for your attention, xgiannak

Hi Can anyone tell me whether the Elitebook 2540p notebook or 2740p tablet can support dual monitors simultaneosly when used with a docking station I would assume that one monitor would be driven from the VGA socket, the other from DisplayPort If so, what range of screen resolutions are supported? I am looking to buying one of these models, but I need to know if this functionality is supported. ThanksJohn

A:Dual external monitor support with docking station on EliteB...

From HP: The key with supporting dual-monitors at the same time is that it requires that the notebook have dedicated graphics in there - which is not an option in the 2540p.  The first and smallest notebook to support this in the EliteBook line is the 14.0" 8440p - or we could look to the ProBook 6450b as another option too now. In a nutshell HP is being cheap or complacent.  I don?t get why they are sticking with Intel?s castrated graphics solution and why on the docking stations that do have deticated video like the fore mentioned 8440p they don?t enable 2 DVI-I (that?s Analog + DualLink Digital) instead of a single DVI-D and VGA. And the thing that really annoys me is that the intel intregated chip is capable of doing according to Intel own docs. AMD?s fusion can not come soon enough IMO.

I just recently pre-ordered the Thinkpad Helix from an online website. Without warning the laptop was sent to me in a couple of days. I have been very pleased with this hybrid ultra book, although I was skeptical of its build quality since it was sent to me before the the official and yet to be known release date. I have been using it for the past couple of days now without causing any damage to the ultra book what so ever. Recently, the laptop stopped charging itself when the charger was plugged into the keyboard dock, the keyboard itself stopped functioning, and there were now two "unregistered" devices as stated by the Lenovo management application. I restarted the computer, and upon it turning on the startup sequence alerted me with the message "Keyboard Fan is not functioning". The two undiscovered devices are no longer visible. Some help would be appreciated, thanks!

I have updated the windows lately, but after it the settings gone insane, and when i connect the laptop to the 4336 it sends the screen to the external, and need to change it back to laptop lcd by pressing the mentioned keys before. It is pretty frustrating, and i don't find the setting, which i was able to find before the update. It did the same way after the previoius update too.can somebody please help?I'm soo dissapointed in the new windows stuff by now. I'm using a T430s and a mini dock plus series 3. This is the dock with the dual DVI, dual DisplayPort, 1x VGA. I do not use the laptop's built-in screen; just the 2 external monitors. Intel HD4000 graphic chip and Nvidia Optimus/ I previously had 2 20" monitors with a 1680x1050 resolution using DVI-to-DVI. They both worked fine. I upgraded to 2 24" monitors with a 1920x1200 resolution. The laptop is not recognizing the second monitor. I have tried:dual display port (dock side) to mini display port (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizeddual dvi (dock side) to HDMI (monitor side): only 1 monitor recognizedI ruled out monitor and cable problems by swapping...each by itself works fine. Looking up specs, I believe this resolution should be supported by DP or DVI. Can anybody confirm that this is a supported config? Any ideas what is wrong? UPDATE - I did try 1 DP/mDP and 1 DVI/HDMI: this does work. However, its not an ideal solution because it would interfere with the monitors ports which I want to use for a second PC. UPDATE 2 - OK, now I am beyond aggrivated. I also have a support ticket w/ Lenovo where they suggested switching to Integrated Graphics only in the BIOS. I tried that, no luck. After changing that setting back, i tried to get my 1 DP / 1 DVI working, but now it would not recognize dual monitors. ??? After some testing, I'm finding that the -only- setup that works is the following: Dock DVI port 1 to Moni... Fixed; was a driver issue. Problem seems exclusive to a Dell u2415 on DP port 1 only of the dock or to the laptop's DP port (at least for the couple monitors I tried). It's possible it could affect other monitors. My starting point: 9.18.13.4535 / 9.17.10.2843 (Nvidia /  Intel) The latest driver from Lenovo is 9.18.13.4535 / 8.15.10.2725. I'm not sure how i have a slightly newer Intel, but that's what it was. I couldn't install the Lenovo driver. I also couldn't install a newer driver from Intel (10.18.10.4276). In both cases Windows or the Intel installer stopped me saying the mfr provided the drivers and that the installed version was up to date. I worked around by first rolling back the Intel driver. The manual (.zip) install of the latest intel driver worked. This immediately fixed the Dell u2415 on DP port 1 and laptop's built-in DP port.

I have a Dell XPS 13 (2016) with a Dell USB-C adapter. It will not detect my NEC LCD external monitor. I have tried a Dell USB-C adapter and a D-SUB cable to the monitor. I have also tried a Monoprice USB-C adapter with a Monoprice HDMI cable. Neither work. The monitor works fine with my Mac. I have told the computer to extend and duplicate the display using the Windows-P command. I have tried to update the driver for the monitor (I have NEC's driver), but it will not install because the monitor is not detected. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.

A:NEC external monitor not detected

Have you tried restarting your computer (restart option from the power icon) with the USB adapter disconnected. Wait until the computer boots up and is stable, then connect the adapter without the monitor connected to it. Do you hear the sound that indicates a USB has been connected? Then look in device manager (right click on the start icon and device manager will be one of the options) and are there any devices with exclamation points or unknown devices?

If all that looks normal, then connect the monitor.

Also, with the adapter connected, look in device manager under display adapters. If you see Microsoft basic display listed, right click on it and attempt to update the driver while connected to the internet.

A:Y700 - 15 ISK External Monitor not detected

Hi Saurabh,

Welcome to the Lenovo community!

From your findings, it does look like there's a problem with the HDMI port or with the HDMI cable.
 Things that you can try:

Try the HDMI cable on another PC and ensure its firmly connected to rule it out as the possible culprit.
Consider updating the Intel HD Graphics from the Intel Websiteand the Nvidia graphics from the Nvidia Website.

If the problem remains, last thing that you can do is to press the OneKey Recovery button to restore the unit to factory settings (ensure you backup important files). If problem remains after that then it's definitely a problem with the port

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

I have a Hp g60 235dx notebook which came with windows vista and upgraded to windows 10. The screen went bad so I had it hooked up to a Dell  d2015hf external monitor through a VGA cable. Everything was working fine until few days back. It would not let me connect to the internet at all. The wifi slide button automatically jumps to "Off" by itself no matter how much I try to slide to "On". I assumed it must be the Windows 10 update which must have screwed the drivers, so I ran Driver pack solution and installed all the recommended drivers. It installed bunch of stuffs and stopped. At the bottom it was written, you must restart the computer . So I thought it as done and restarted the computer. Now, it does not detect the external monitor at all. I tried to do a hard reset and the HP logo came on the laptop screen. After some time it went blank. I can see the power light is on and it makes some sound. I guess the laptop is working, but since the screen has gone bad and the external monitor is not being detected, I don't know what i should do. Is it the problem with the external monitor or the vga cable? Is there anything i can do about this problem? your help will be much appreciated. Thank you in advance and have a nice day

Hi  @babiola, Welcome to the HP Forums! I see that your HP G60-235DX Notebook is having an issue with the External Monitor. You could try using the Windows Update Troubleshooting tool to fix any updates that have not come through for Windows. This is a download that will run a check on your system and usually repair it. Please restart the Notebook twice to make sure all update have been completed!  Please be aware that HP does not guarantee Windows 10 drivers will be available from Windows Update. Please get back to me how this goes. You can say thanks for trying to help by clicking the Thumbs Up below! Thanks.

Hello guys
I'm about to buy an external monitor (Samsung C27F591) and i'm not sure how to connect it to my Dell XPS 13 9360. Here's what I know (or think)
1. There's two types of USB-C to HDMI; Thunderbolt and DisplayLink - right? What to buy? (this also means that I have to plug the wireless usb dongles in the laptop each time i want to "dock" it)2. There's two buggy Dell dock's and then there's a Dell adapter with VGA, HDMI and USB 2.03. There's a lot of cheap USB-C adapters on eBay, with HDMI, USB, etc. - But do they work?
That's a lot of options and I just want something that works and is cheap. So, what do you guys advice me to do?

Good afternoon, Since this morning and the latest windows 10 update (update Version 1607), my external monitor (LG - Flatron w2220P) is not recognized anymore. It was working just fine until now : i use a simple usb-c 3.1 to VGA adaptator. Until now I tried the following solutions : I tried to go back to the previous windows update. Did not work. Then I updated the drivers for the graphic chip, the usb buses. Did not work. I just downgraded the drivers with the pack I found on Lenovo yoga 900 page. But it does not seem to work neither. Can someone help ?

I currently have the new HP Spectre X360 Using the Insignia USB Type-C to HDMI External Video Adapter which I have connected an external montitor (Not using any of the other ports) Seems like there are many issues similiar to mine (for different laptops) Issue: When my computer goes to sleep and I awaken it, the monitor will not be recognized unless I unplug and plug back in the HDMI cable or go to Intel Graphics Settings and detect additional monitors. Very time consuming. Seems like a handshake issue of some sort I have all the latest updates from Windows and HP.  I have tried everything and before I try a new adaptor wondering if there is a solution. I st

I have an HP monitor connected to the HDMI port on my Dell Inspiron 5559.  When I boot up, the HP monitor is asleep.  If I right-click on my desktop and choose Intel Graphics Settings -> Multiple Displays -> Detect, the HP monitor wakes up immediately and my display is Extended to the monitor.

How can I get my laptop to boot up in this configuration?  (with my display extended to the external monitor)

Having an issue with all Dell 7510's and associated docks we've deployed to new users at my employer. The external keyboard won't work at the Bitlocker prompt. These PC's are imaged for Win10.
I've sifted through the BIOS settings and have had no luck getting it to work. One thread I found said to make sure the Post Behavior -> Fast Boot setting is set to Thorough. Verified that is the case.
Note: if I undock and dock the PC the external keyboard will work that 1st time at the bitlocker prompt, but at next reboot it doesn't work.

I am using ADATA Classic CH91 external HDD. It's only 3 months old & was working fine till yesterday.

But suddenly today when I connected it, although the 'safely remove hardware' icon is showing in the taskbar but it is just showing Local Disk (G) in 'My Computer', although it has a different name. And whenever I try to click on this 'Local Disk (G)', the 'My Computer' stops responding. I've checked it with different computers, but the same problem persists. Even when I went to Disk Management, whenever I click on this disk, it stops responding. I've tried changing the drive letter, it did not help. However, Disk Management is showing it to be "Healthy (active)".

Can this problem be solved without losing data?

Hi all! A friend of mine has ThinkPad T520 and would like to have 2 external monitors while ALSO using his laptop screen, for 3 monitors total.  However, when I attempted to setup the second external monitor I discovered that it appears that, although his laptop has both VGA and Displayport, that only one or the other can be utilized while also using the laptop screen. Is there ANY workaround for this?  Would a dock enable him to have more than 2 active monitors, or perhaps a USB to DVI adapter?  Or is it a matter of the video card adapter (intel in this case)? Thanks!

I am using the VGA port of a Dell 4-in-1 adapter (DA100) to connect my XPS 13 with touch screen display to a Dell U2412M monitor. The Intel HD Graphics Control Panel does not detect that there is an external monitor attached to the computer, i.e., the Graphics Options menu does not show the "Output To" option, the Graphics Properties' Display menu shows only "Built-in Display" under the Select Display tab, etc. The DA100 was installed remotely by Dell Support (after neither I nor they could find the driver on the Dell support website, as instructed to do by the software driver download guide that comes with the adapter), so I assume that it was installed correctly. Has anyone else experienced this problem and, hopefully, have a solution?

See if this helps:

Extending the desktop to the attached monitor with Microsoft Windows Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.
In the Display Properties dialog box, select the Settings tab.
Click the Display list and select your external monitor.
Note: For help identifying the monitors, click Identify.
Select Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor, then click Apply or OK.

So I got a new monitor for xmas, the LG Flatron W1953T and I wanted to get it running with my Dell monitor. I have an onboard NVIDIA GeForce 8300 and at first just tried to plug the new monitor into the DVI port but I think it's broken or something. Anyways, I bought this Triton Technologies External VGA video card that I just plug into a USB port, and now I have both monitors running through VGA, and my second monitor is up, but the resolution just looks terrible on the second one, and when I go to adjust resolution or whatever it says I have only one monitor and if I hit detect it doesn't come up. In my devices menu it says I have the dell menu, and then two other "Generic non PnP monitors" even though I only have one other monitor connected.

I also go to my NVIDIA control panel and it doesnt say the second monitor is detected.

Both monitors are working, like I see my desktop background on the other monitor and I can drag stuff over to it but its just not detected or something idk. I want to download Ultramon too, (Or should I get something else w/ windows 7??? I heard you cant have two taskbars w seven.) Thanks for any support you can give me here. Sorry for whatever bad grammer I'm in a hurry

A:Second monitor working but not detected?!?!

You should be able to use the onboard video outputs on the computer it self.

When you start up your computer you need to enter the BIOS by hitting usually F2 or DEL on a Dell once in the BIOS you need to find the setting for the Video it should give you choices like VGA or DVI or VGA+DVI you need it set to VGA+DVI by doing this you are turning on the other output good luck.

If for some reason you can't figure that out for the external video you have you should have some software that came with that that allows for changing the resolution on the external do not use the video control settings for the internal to do that.

I couldn't find the answer to this. Apologies if it is already posted somewhere

I have a Dell Precision 5510.
I have it hooked up to an external monitor using dual screen
The sound from a video on youtube (etc) works fine when the external monitor is unplugged, BUT NOT WHEN THE MONITOR IS PLUGGED IN. This confuses me.  Is there a solution?
Thank you.

A:5510: Audio from websites not working when external monitor is also hooked up. (But Skype sound still working)

Hello. What might be happening is after you connect to the external display, the audio switches to HDMI audio. To get the audio to emit from the laptop's speakers again, go to the Windows Sounds dialog and make Speakers the default playback device (right click). You might have to do this every time you connect an HDMI cable.

Hi,

I have been searching in several forums but have not been able to fully fix this problem. It was fixed temporarily and failed again.
This the system I have:

HP TouchSmart tx2 tablet pc with Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (Home Premium) x 64 bit
AMD Turion (tm) X2 Ultra Dual-Core Mobile ZM-82, 2.2 GHz
ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics

I have been working for over a year with an external display Dell ST2310 flat screen monitor and working fine with the "use external display only" setting . From one minute to the other both screen went black so I forced a restart and again the same problem. I decided to manually disconnect the external display by unplugging the VGA cable from the laptop which automatically switched back to the main display as it would if I disconnected the display. When I plugged the VGA cable back in again the same issue both screens were fully black. I disconnected once again the VGA cable so I could change the settings in Windows Mobility. I plugged back in the VGA cable after changing the settings from "external display only" to "mirror monitors" and after playing for a bit with the Windows Mobility Center I got the external display to work back again to my regular settings: "external display only". This solution lasted for a day and now the main display works and the external display screen is fully black.

Solutions I have tried unsuccessfully:
- Changed VGA cables, still experiencing the same issue.
- Tested monitor ... Read more

My brother was having with his reliability monitor that stopped working 10/28/08. His os is Vista 64 Ultimate. Here is what worked to get his reliability monitor working again:

Go to control panel, click classic view, click administrative tools, then click event viewer. In the first column expand "Windows Logs" and click "System". In the 3rd column under "Actions", click "Clear Log", then "Clear and Save".

The center column had a "data is invalid (13)" error when he accessed the event viewer. After reading some posts, along with some trial and error, we finally got the above solution to solve his problem.

He noticed in a few minutes that it updated to 11/08. Then a little while later it was showing history to 12/08. By the next morning, his reliability monitor was updated to the current date of 03/14/09. All his previous data was saved and he has a fully functioning reliability monitor. I am happy to report that mine has been working fine for over a year. I just wanted to share the solution.

I hope this helps someone in the same situation...
