Q: Drivers etc for Flex 4 1580 with Windows 7

Purchased a Flex 4 1580 from Costco (i7-7500U Processor at 2.7GHz, 16 GB ram, Intel 620 video) and wiped the SSD to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I am half way through, and discovering that Lenovo doesn't offer Windows 7 drivers for the Flex 4, only Windows 10. Can someone point me to Windows 7 drivers etc for the wifi, video etc that would work? Like will the Flex 14 drivers be ok? Thanks! Mark

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

I accidentally deleted my nvidia graphics drivers, and the latest version doesnt work. Knowing the drivers which came with the computer will let me re install them. Thanks.

Hi, We have had the laptop for 6 months with everything working properly up until a few days ago (June 8). My wife told me that she tried to restart her computer and it hung on the restart screen for 3 hours. I did a power recycle and go the laptop to boot up but... 1. There was no internet connection (wifi or ethernet).2. Kaspersky gave notifications of several of it's modules were not allowed to start. For the last few days I have been trying any fix that I could find on the forums with no luck. I have run the Kaspersky standalone free scan several times and it has found nothing, the computer is clean. I did try to uninstall and reinstall Kaspersky. During the clean reinstall Kaspersky notifies that an error occured and that it is not able to install. Please, any help is appreciated. Thanks.Ray

Hello all,

I have a problem installing windows 7 on my new windows 10 laptop. I find it very weird how I change settings in the BIOS to support all legacy stuff like windows 7 and I try to boot from USB all the way to dvd and nothing works. What I mean is when it is done booting, it says " No drivers were found" and there's not a hard drive for me to choose windows 7. It's weird though because there are windows 7 drivers on the official support page, yet I can't install it?

I just need to see a hard drive listed but nothing pops up, and yes I've formatted it already using diskpart.

Hello everyone. I must say that it is a lovely laptop but the touch screen issue is making me very upset. I called  Lenovo and Microsoft support and those people doesn't even have a bit of knowledge. Many incertain process and lot of doubts in them. But it can't be a hardware problem. I bought it 1 week ago and when I opened the factory sealed box the touch screen worked perfectly! And a few hours later would stop working. No pen and touch input available, no hid compliant touch screen in device manager. I read almost every thread about this complain in this forum. Tried everything without success. The laptop is 99% good.. But without the touch screen is like trash. Hope someone can understand and if there's a solution, please tell me and I beg you send me specifics links or specifics procedures, please don't tell me "go to support.lenovo.com"  or "do a system recovery or windows 10 update", etc. Thank you.

It seems the card reader driver is not working with windows 10 1709. I tried reinstalling the driver after a fresh windows install and I can no longer use the card reader. Inserting an SD card only shows an unknown device in device manager. Anyone else with this problem? I also attempted to let Windows look for a driver automatically, it finds a device driver for this but it says the platform is unsupported? Is this an issue where there is no driver signature for this version of Windows? Am I missing another driver?ANyone out there with a working card reader on a Flex 3 1580, running Windows 10 1709, please respond.

Hi everyone, nice to be  a new member here. I'm currently using a Flex-15, that has been doing OK over the last few years, aside from ghost touches early on, then the touch screen died (still using 8.1).  Thinking of getting a Flex-3  80R40011US (i7/256 SSD/M940), but many reviews seem not so kind, and I am really torn about what to do.   I really like all of the features of the Flex-3, but reading of the black screen/shutting down issues, bad battery life, etc has me concerned.  The black screen shutting down is really a concern, even say after reading potential fixes here, and worried I will have a computer that can not be made to work properly...  Really don't want to get into a mess, right off of the bat, and can't afford to take a 15% restocking fee plus return shipping.  Is this issue over represented here, or do all owners experience this issue?  Is there an absolute 100% fix for this issue? Also would like to know about the display quality.  I had a 17" Y700 that had a golden cast, and despite a lot of fidling and BIOS update, it could not be corrected...  I hated it to be frank, and wonder if this type of issue, and/or other display issues are found in the Flex-3, with the 15.6" display? Thanks a lot for your help and insights, look forward to your replies.

I am running a Flex-3 1580 with Windows 10.  I don't know if it is a hardware problem, Windows 10, problem or the combination of the two, but my system uses all of my 8GB of memory and locks up 2 to 3 times a day requiring me to force power off in order to resume processing.  Am I going to have to get more memory or is something else going on that I need to fix?  Lenovo Solution Center says that all is well with the system.

Hi.  My laptop seems to crash at roughly 1 hour of use, regardless of battery life or what I am doing.  Screen goes black and I am unabe to do anything.  I am still able to adjust the brightness of the backlighting and I can see that the screen does turn off and on, but it will still be black.  This started happeneing a little while ago.  No idea why honestly.  Any insight would be appreciated.  I have updated the display drivers only since it was crashing a lot when wacthing youtube.

In the process i seem to have pulled out 2 wires out of the speaker connector dont know if this actually affects the power cycling. Now the laptop doesnt power on still. I have tried the following: - Removing the BIOS battery, and unit battery then plugging in the AC adapter. Once i plug in the adapter the machine powers on immediately, but it never successfully starts up. The screen stays black and the machine trys to boot up but nothing even happens. Lenovo Flex 3 1580 I've tried multiple lenovo AC adapters and the laptop still won't charge. It's got about 4% battery left so it's turned off atm. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the battery drivers, but that did nothing. The charging light won't come on, the only light is the low battery light. The battery is the built-in kind so taking it out isn't an option. I don't know what to do, someone please help.

Dear Lenovo, I purchased this device, Flex 3-1580, at Office Depot some time ago. At random times, it will do the following: Video goes black; Backlight remains on. Audio will stop as well. Can't tell if any fan is running or not, nor can I tell if HDD is running. Keyboard may or may not be lit, but is unresponsive. Only way to get out of it is to hold power button until it turns off, let things clear out for ten seconds, and restart. Here are the conditions under which, after some months of trying to reproduce the results consistently, this crash seems to happen: a) Does it regardless of power source, be it battery or AC adapter. b) Unit can sit on a table for hours, unused, and not crash; but it may crash - eventually (keep that in mind, it'll come in handy). c) Unit only seems to crash when I'm writing a Word document, working an Excell worksheet, or attempting something productive, like chatting with a Lenovo TS person to try and resolve this (which I've attempted three times, and all three times the thing has crashed mid-chat). I've read the forums about similar problems. I've updated the BIOS to the best of my ability. Installed the new ME software. I'm not updating the video driver because as far as I can tell that's impossible at my end, and there's no way I'm reinstalling Windows 10 if I don't have to. So let's revisit b) and c) above. Unit can sit on a table, perhaps just watching youtube or something, and nothing happens... Several keys do not work
Space, backspace, the center enter key, and the forward slash.
 
Any ideas why this would be happening?
I've plugged in a USB keyboard, and all the keys on it worked.
 
I got this laptop new in the Spring.

Noticed how the keys are localized and aligned (Space, backspace, the center enter key, and the forward slash.) , as this maybe on the board level of the keyboard and not just the key itself. 
 
If the same failure would also happen in the BIOS then probable hardware issue should be reported to technical support team for in warranty repair.

In the last saturday I turned off my notebook normally. Since today (monday), I press power button, the led power indicator stay on for five minuts, after that it power off. Nothing is showing on the screen. When I plug the AC Power, the AC Power indicator stay on, but every ten seconds it flash. Anybody else had this problem? When running Windows 10 Update on a 6 month old Flex 4-1580, a Lenovo Firmware update momentarily appears in the list of updates, but then disappears. When I run Lenovo Update, there is a BIOS update available. When I run that, I get a message: "This BIOS is only for Lenovo IdeaPad, 510S14IKB 310S15IKB, YOGA 510-141IKB 510-15IKB. Do you want to continue?" If I look on Lenovo Support for my system, there is a BIOS update for the Flex 4-1580 indicating a security fix. This is very confusing. What am I to believe? Is the BIOS update available via Lenovo Update valid or should I do a direct download from Lenovo support? JohnD

Hey, Im from Brazil and my cousin brought me this Lenovo flex 4 1580 from the US. I used very few times during 6 months and then after 3 weeks without using it I tryed to turn it on and it simple woudn´t. I start to seach for solutions, I've read all the topics i found about it on this forum and I was able to turn it on few times holding the power button for a while, but it keeps crashing (just go black, turns off by itself). Sometimes it kept tuned on for longer time but when i try to turn it on again the crashing problems continue. I have also reset the computer (kept my files) ans reinstaled windows and again it keeps crashing. Don't know what else I could do, couse, here in Brazil lenovo doesn't gives me support becouse this laptop model was not sold here, and i can't take it to de US again. Also, Lenovo doen't have any authorized maitenence place anywhere in Brazil. Im considering taking it to any laptop maintenece store to ask for help. Does someone knows anything I could try by my on? Or knows if this problem have solution? Im very disapointed couse its a brand new laptop ans its not acceptable to find this kind of issues. PLEASE HELP!

I recently got a Flex 3 1580. It has both the integrated Intel 520 gpu and the nVidia 940M gpu.  Some of the games I'm playing for some reason don't seem to like the Intel gpu. I know for non windows store apps you can right click on the exe and tell it which gpu to use.   As far as I know you can't do that with the windows store apps. So my question is this.  Would it be okay to disable the Intel 520 in the device manager or would that cause problems with the machine or windows?

Images and text will randomly go a bit wild, as seen in the picture. Screenshots taken by the compy didn't display the issue, which is why I had to take a photo. It'll pop up intermittently, If I scroll the screen the text sometimes reverts to normal, other times it stays. This happens with browsers and Word, at the least. I would imagine it's a software issue?

My screen has been plagued by yellowing in the corners but the digitizer is perfectly fine. I was wondering if anyone has any answers on whether or not you can just replace the lcd on laptop without replacing the whole screen/digitizer. the whole screen is 150 dollars and a lcd is just around 50-100. Also if you can point me to any part # or repair manuals that would be great. Thanks

My Flex 3 1580 started to show messages about device being plugged into head phone jack (hence the on board speaker is cut off), and unplugged randomly, and then it just all stopped, there is no sound from speaker, but the sounds were fine if I plug in a head phone. I tried "troubleshoot" on Sound, it changed driver from Realtek driver to Microsoft High definition audio driver. The sound started to show up from speakers, but the volume keeps on fluctuating up and down, even when the volume slider keeps constant. Another troubleshoot was run, and somehow the problem was fixed. However, after some time (likely due to windows auto update), speaker becomes silent again. The Realtek driver was present in device manager.  I downloaded the most recent realtek driver from Lenovo support website, instealled it, still no sound from speaker (headphone works fine all this time). Tried to run trouble shooter again to install High Def Audio driver, the broken sound comes back to speaker. I plugged in a headphone, and the sound was normal, no volume fluctuation. But the speaker went silent again, when the headphone is unplugged.  Any one has any suggestion? I'm all ears. Art

Ok, I have uninstalled the video drivers, updated everything that is available, replaced the HDMI cable, switched the TV HDMI ports.         The TV  shows the HDMI connection as 480, I get sound. The image is large, fuzzy and much of it is off the screen. I have tried all adjustments to the video card that are possible, uninstalled it, reinstalled, updated drivers. Changed every video option that is available. No luck. I have had this laptop hooked to this TV for awhile, nothing wrong with the TV, it is the laptop. It worked fine, I did have the same issue months ago but I did make a change somewhere but can't seem to recreate it. This laptop gets minimum use and this is the only issue with it.  Any suggestions anyone?  Thanks, In advance - Joe

As close as I can understand it, it "may" if I mess something up? I've opened at least 100 laptops without messing anything up, so I'm confident I can do it without damaging anything, but I have also seen motherboards and touchscreens die in the first year, and don't want to mess up that part of the warranty for an SSD upgrade. I figured I'd make sure it powered on, then shutdown, crack it open, install the M.2 SSD, clone everything over, wipe the old SSD once into windows, and then finally perform the product registration. (Which uploads all your hardware specs? So they'd know everything was A-Okay with the new drive in place?) Thoughts? Anyone got more info on how strict they are with self service?

Hi,Flex 3- 1580 15.6 inch screen got damaged. Now touch is working fine but the display screen is cracked. Should this be replaced with only diplay screen or digitizer or entire screen? Is there anywhere replacement part for damaged screen could be purchased from?

bottom right corner?I bought my Flex 3 1580 in december and this just happened. The screen in the bottom right hand corner is yellow and it wont go away. I don't think this is a driver issue but rather a hardware issue. I haven't dropped my computer and have overall handled it very carefully so I don't know what could have caused this. Does anyone else have this problem?

Right now I have a problem with the w key on my laptop key board.  For all the other keys it registers a press when you feel the key give way.  However for my w key you do not have to press it, only rest you finger lightly on it and it will register a keystroke.  This is a problem for me because I rest my finger on W S and E all at the same time which leads to a lot of random w's throughout my typing.  Let me know if there is anything I can do other than replace my keyboard.

Upon downloading the neccessary software and firmware from Serato DJ and Pioneer, I connected my controller to my computer via usb cord provided by Pioneer. However, when I opened Serato to start playing around, a error message came up saying that my hardware was disconnected. I looked up support from Serato as I thought it was a software issue. I quickly realized it wasn't after going through all the troubleshooting steps they provided. I then asked my friend to try out the program on his computer (MacBook), to see if it was a software issue or a computer problem. As expected it instantly worked on his laptop without any issues. I determined it was a problem with my computer. I took it to Geek Squad so they could have a look. Unable to fix it, they believe its a Windows 10 issue. So now I am coming to Lenovo to see if they can fix this problem. I find it ridiculous that out of nowhere my computer can no longer detect a usb plug in from my iPhone, external harddrive, and DJ controller.  Has anybody else had these issues?Specs: Windows 10Version 1607Intel Core i78.00GB RAM64-bit operating system

My old W8.1 Flex 15 has it in the apps, and I use it to blow out internal dust, and to also reset the battery condition gauge.  I see this Lenovo Utility listed in the add/remove programs area of the control panel of my Flex-3 1580, but can't find it elsewhere to get it to run.  How can I get this Lenovo Utility to open, and use its features.  Thank you.

So I've had an issue with my laptop overheating much too easily, in my opinion. I'll literally be using it for normal, non-resource intensive tasks like web browsing, doing homework, responding to emails etc. and it'll heat up to 90°C+ in just an hour or 2. Some days it'll take longer, but I know for sure this temperature can't be right. I've only had the laptop for 7 months and it's doing this. I've tried propping it on top of this laptop fan thing which helps with the temperature but it still rises too high for such non-resource intensive tasks. If I do anything even remotely resource intensive like even easy to run video games, I'm up to 100°C in under 30 minutes in both cores. I tried talking to support and they said to send it in for hardware repairs without telling me anything about other possible troubleshooting I could try, which I disliked. I'd like to send it in for hardware repairs last, if possible. I have tried scanning with many different antiviruses and made sure the laptop can breathe. I have uninstalled every program that I don't use anymore. I've done pretty much all the recommendations that I got from googling to try and lower the temperature. The only thing left would be factory restoration. Is that really the next line of play I have? Is there anything else I can do before sending it in for hardware repairs? Sometimes when I'm using my Lenovo Flex 3, the screen suddenly turns blue and it does not respond unless I hold the power button to force it to shut down. Here are some errors/stopcodes which I've also received on other occasions. Any suggestions/advice would be appreciated! Thanks

Yeah, so, as you can see fro the title, my laptop is having some issues xDWhat I can tell y'all is it's not that stuff was out of date because I made sure everything was up to date. Then I read on here that to fix the keyboard issue, I could factory reset it. But that didn't work (Note: I haven't updated anything after the reset). Frankly, I don't know what to do. I'm jsut glad it's a touchscreen so I can do some stuff.As far as the wifi thing goes, it doesn't search for wifi. I have had my lenovo flex 4 1580 for less than a year, and while I love it there seem to be problems. And I am a law student so this is causing me a lot of anxiety. In the last few weeks the computer has started to freeze, and requires me to physically press the power button to restart it. I have tried a system recovery before the installation of windows 10 creative, I have tried unistalling/reinstalling java, I continue to check my system for updates. I have disabled the background apps. I am not running alot just mozillafoxfire, microsoft word, spotity (maybe), google chrome, and that is about it. And yet the CPU and or memory will  just shoot through the roof and it will freeze. It feels like there is some big program running in the backgroud but I have checked the task master and I do not know what it is..... Now it says that the computer is plugged in and it is not charging...I have checked the conservation mode is off, I tried the settings airplane mode is off,  I do not see any other other problems...am I missing something. I am hoping that these problems can be fixed, quickly,

I have a Lenovo Flex 4 1580, I have enclosed a screen shot, it is "Plugged in and not charging" ? How do I fix this? I tried restoring to a recover point, a full system wipe and reinstalling windows, but so far nothing has worked. What do I do?

I have bought a new Lenovo Ideapad Flex 4 1580 which is running a Windows 10. It's fan is always on, varying between lower and higher fan speeds, but it never turns off. Computer starts the fan immediately when the "Lenovo" logo is shown, not some time after Windows is started. Windows installation is fresh, there are no new applications installed, I have updated BIOS to the latest version, as well as all the drivers. Windows has the latest updates, as of today (6th of May 2017). CPUID tool is showing CPU temperature of 36-37 degrees Celsius (96 Fahrenheit), which is pretty low and should not have fans running at all. As soon as the temperature goes to 40 degrees Celsius ( 104 Fahrenheit), the fan becomes very, very loud. Task manager is showing minial usage of CPU, Memory and Disk. Any ideas what I might try next?Thanks
