Q: warranty

I bought my laptop brand new on the 11th March. It was delivered on 12th March. It has an obvious battery problem, as the single time I used it unconnected to the mains, it gave a warning that there was only 12% charge left after an hour, then closed itself down a minute later. I'm prepared to concede that that may be an anomaly, so I'm planning to try running it off battery another time and see what happens. However, I just received notification that my warranty expired. On 12th March. Seriously, **bleep**??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

I bought a Lenov Ideapad 510 15IKB on 14th April 2017. Now I'm facing 2 issues with the warranty registration and warranty upgrade: Issue#1On April 16th I registered the base warranty of my product as it should start from the purchase date of my product. After few email conversations for purchase proof, finally on 3rd May, I received email confirming the base warranty registration of my product. It was starting from 14th April 2017 and ending on 13th April 2018. I checked the same on lenovo website. But few days back when I again checked the warranty status, it was restored to factory warranty (15 Oct 2016 - 13 nov 2017). I don't know why this happened and how this happened. When I contacted lenovo, they said that warranty is updated in their database but how can I beleive when I can't see this on warranty lookup section of the Lenovo official website. I have also attached the screen shot of warranty lookup page as of today (22 June 2017). Issue#2I registered for 2 year warranty extension under Back To School offer (Ticket Number - ADP-BTS-025399) on www.buyalenovo.com and made a payment of INR 999/- on 6th May 2017. On 10th May, i received an email confirming the receipt of payment and in the same email, it was mentioned that warranty certificate will be mailed to me within 7 bussiness day, but till the date I've not received any warranty certificate, I've sent so many emails in last one week, but I didn't receive any reply to any email. My dell xps 15 9550 was purchased with a 3yr extended warranty.  After getting an email offering to sell an extended warranty, I checked the dell warranty status.  Sure enough, no extended warranty appears.  Is this a system problem or do I need to do something.

As the title suggests - my invoice specifically says 3yrs warranty was purchased with my M3800 in November 2014. I'm now showing as out of warranty after 2yrs

I bought my Yoga 510 14IKB from UAE, and now I'm in India. So in 5 months of purchase I realise that the hard disk is defective, and my laptop is not covered under International Warranty. Now Lenovo India knows "nothing" about my laptop ( their  reply as I interpret  . Lenovo UAE sends me a list of service centres, and I contact one , they say contact the vendor. Vendor says that sending my hard disk alone,  as I suggested , cannot be done,  need to send the whole laptop.  Does Lenovo provide shipping because it's still covered under warranty?  Can / how do I avail the courier / depot service ?

Hello, I have a precision 5520 with a SSD M.2 and I'm thinking of adding a second HDD in the free slot. I've read an old post about this procedure and, in theory, there aren't any warranty issues if I simply remove the new HDD when I will send the laptop to Assistence. Can you confirm that?

Correct.  There are only two things to be aware of here:
- The Dell warranty won't cover the 2nd hard drive since you're purchasing it yourself. The only possible exceptions are that if you buy it from Dell, it may come with its own warranty, and sometimes products purchased through Dell specify that when used in/with a Dell system, the product inherits the system's warranty.
- If you break anything on the system while installing the second drive yourself, that damage would obviously not be covered by your system warranty.

System is a dell studio xps 435mt/ os 7 premium/ I7 CPU/ 8 gigs of ram/ ati video card just replaced 3 months ago/ hitachi deskstar 500g hd/power supply delta 360w.

Had no error messages. Was running fine, it had a few glitches but nothing serious. I attempted to power up the system but nothing , it has power the green light is on for the power supply.. I get one amber light when i press the power button on front panel, and one flicker of the red light on the video card.

This system is only 2 years old. The warranty expired on it's second birthday, which was the day after the warranty ran out.

I posted a msg regarding a possible IRQ problem and missing internet connection.  Received a PM to call a number, did so and worked with a person from Skyfill who told me my warranty was expired.  My computer shows that I have 6 months left but the help person disputed that; so I paid for assistance to get computer internet connection fixed.   How do I dispute the warranty coverage?

I just bought my laptop on 17 March 2017. However, when I checked the warranty status, it wrote the start date as 16 December 2016 and end date as 13 february 2018. Isn't the start date supposed to be my date of purchase?

Yes but they do not know that. The system fills in a "presumed" date based on average shelf life. Keep the proof of purchase and if you ever have a warranty claim you can prove your date of purchase and the warranty will be honored.

contact who you purchased it from and see what they can do. they should have records of the transaction. if you purchased it with a charge card you could contact them also for any record of the purchase.

lastly contact the manufacturer and see what they can do. some things go back there anyway i think

I have a X250 laptop that has developed a bean-size white spot on the display. My laptop has a warranty until August 2018. Help please. HP Support Assistant changed overnight and now shows Warranty Expired and date Dec 2015 when I bought the PC. Expiry date should be 3 December 2016.Have sent HP Warranty Dispute form and evidence of purchase (twice). No response. Have used Assistant Agent twice and was very pleased with excellent service. Because warranty is out of date, according to HP, contact with them is limited and try as I can I have been unable to get a phone call through to customer service (its always busy!). I have even contacted HP  Head Office who gave me the same phone number and a complaints e- mail address which turned out to be in South America! Message on HP Support Assistant  received today asks me to continue  warranty by paying for 2 year cover. Have paid for this today and hope this will sort situation. Meanwhile who can I e mail at HP in the UK to resolve this?

So, my HP Envy x360 has a screen problem that I described in an earlier post, but the situation that I am in currently is that around February, I contacted HP to get a box to send my laptop back and get it repaired in. Now, I couldn't send it back at the time because I needed it every day for classes. So, I decided to wait until the end of the school year, not thinking that my warranty expires in April . Is it still possible for me to send my laptop back to be repaired free of charge? Thanks!

Warranty is 1 year from first retail sale. Either the seller sold you a laptop previously sold or it sat on his shelf for a long time. Keep the receipt as you may need it to prove when you bought it. The date in the HP system is automatically generated based on wholesale delivery plus an average shelf time.

Hi  Yesterday I purchased a brand new Pavilion all in one 27-N030A desktop from the largest UK supplier of office equipment for my family and disabled wife.The product is brilliant by the way.At the till the salesman asked me if I would like to purchase the additional Staples in store warranty - I said no, but it is covered by HP warranty he said yes... When I checked on the HP website it is out of warranty !!! This is a brand new pc and all the trimmings, surely the warranty should kick in when I have actually purchased the device - I have all the receipts for this and the dates... I am appauled at not only the suppler but HP, no information or guidance. Simon

I have two questions: 1. If i buy a HP laptop from US and then go back home (Europe/Romania) with it,  do i still have the same warranty for the laptop and in case anything happens can I send it directly to HP to sort out the problem? I want to avoid sending it back to the US as this will be costly in terms of time and money. What are my posibilities to resolve this locally? 2. If i want to upgrade the HDD of the laptop i need to open it up. Will this void my warranty?

Hi: While none of us on this forum can give you precise anwers to the warranty questions you have asked (because we are not authorized to discuss warranty items on this forum on behalf of HP), I can share with you what I have observed in over 6 years as a member on this forum. 1.  Unless the exact same model notebook is sold in Romania, HP will not cover it under the warranty.  Most likely the exact same model notebook is not sold in Romania. 2. Check the service manual for the specific model notebook you want to buy to see how difficult it is to replace the hard drive.  On many of these new notebooks, it is very difficult to replace the hard drive, and if it is, the procedure will be listed under work to be done by an authorized service center. That does not necessarily mean you will void the warranty by replacing the hard drive yourself but if you break anything along the way, you are out of luck. However, since the notebook will probably not be covered under the warranty if you buy it in the USA and use it in Romania, your second question really doesn't matter.

I purchased the following computer from Sam's Club in 2013 for our elderly parents.  It is used primarily for email and internet access.  :

It appears there is a problem with the hard drive as I received the following error message:

Welcome to the Community Forums. 
 
Removing the harddrive will not void the warranty , for as long as none is broken accidentally. 
Parts declared as CRU or Customer Replaceable Parts like harddrive and RAM , are parts that do not require advance expertise. 
I have here the CRU list and guideline steps (appendix A page 33)
 
However FRU or Field Replaceable Units are  those that needs a certified tech to disassemble against warranty. 
 
To check the warranty type you have a a specific machine click here. 
For repair needs you may call in tech support.

How can I update my graphis card without voiding my warranty
