Q: warranty

I bought my laptop brand new on the 11th March. It was delivered on 12th March. It has an obvious battery problem, as the single time I used it unconnected to the mains, it gave a warning that there was only 12% charge left after an hour, then closed itself down a minute later. I'm prepared to concede that that may be an anomaly, so I'm planning to try running it off battery another time and see what happens. However, I just received notification that my warranty expired. On 12th March. Seriously, **bleep**??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

sir service engineer told me that your ram socket burns due to heat or power fluctuation  and so we have to change your motherboard for that and this is not covered in your warranty. i have adp warranty .So can i arugu with them in these conditions  ?Is warranty doesnot cover issue due to power fluctuation , which cover accidental protection, too ?

My dell xps 15 9550 was purchased with a 3yr extended warranty.  After getting an email offering to sell an extended warranty, I checked the dell warranty status.  Sure enough, no extended warranty appears.  Is this a system problem or do I need to do something.

As the title suggests - my invoice specifically says 3yrs warranty was purchased with my M3800 in November 2014. I'm now showing as out of warranty after 2yrs
I'm having issues with a screen that was replaced in May/June 2016 and would like a replacement as I believe the unit is faulty. Please can you get in touch to resolve.

No one is going to contact you. The system keeps a placeholder warranty end date based on average "sell-through". Keep you proof of purchase and HP will provide a warranty until 1 year after first retail purchase. You can also start a  Support Case and ask that the warranty information be updated in the records.

I have two questions: 1. If i buy a HP laptop from US and then go back home (Europe/Romania) with it,  do i still have the same warranty for the laptop and in case anything happens can I send it directly to HP to sort out the problem? I want to avoid sending it back to the US as this will be costly in terms of time and money. What are my posibilities to resolve this locally? 2. If i want to upgrade the HDD of the laptop i need to open it up. Will this void my warranty?

Hi: While none of us on this forum can give you precise anwers to the warranty questions you have asked (because we are not authorized to discuss warranty items on this forum on behalf of HP), I can share with you what I have observed in over 6 years as a member on this forum. 1.  Unless the exact same model notebook is sold in Romania, HP will not cover it under the warranty.  Most likely the exact same model notebook is not sold in Romania. 2. Check the service manual for the specific model notebook you want to buy to see how difficult it is to replace the hard drive.  On many of these new notebooks, it is very difficult to replace the hard drive, and if it is, the procedure will be listed under work to be done by an authorized service center. That does not necessarily mean you will void the warranty by replacing the hard drive yourself but if you break anything along the way, you are out of luck. However, since the notebook will probably not be covered under the warranty if you buy it in the USA and use it in Romania, your second question really doesn't matter.

On the base of my laptop it says 1y1y0y, which I gather means a 2 year warranty.I purchased the laptop in January 2014.But the warranty checker says that warranty started on october 19 2013 and expired on Jan 16 2015.  How does this work out?My hard drive is failing after just 13 months and I need it replaced, so was surprised that I am not under warranty.

Hi: This is a consumer to consumer forum.  No one here is authorized to discuss the terms and conditions of HP warranties here. You will have to contact HP technical support to get an explanation of the warranty. I believe the 1y1y0y means one year parts, one year labor, and 0 years on site service. Your warranty start date was adjusted to the date of purchase (Jan 2014), which is why it ended in Jan 2015 (one year later).

I posted a msg regarding a possible IRQ problem and missing internet connection.  Received a PM to call a number, did so and worked with a person from Skyfill who told me my warranty was expired.  My computer shows that I have 6 months left but the help person disputed that; so I paid for assistance to get computer internet connection fixed.   How do I dispute the warranty coverage?

Hi  Yesterday I purchased a brand new Pavilion all in one 27-N030A desktop from the largest UK supplier of office equipment for my family and disabled wife.The product is brilliant by the way.At the till the salesman asked me if I would like to purchase the additional Staples in store warranty - I said no, but it is covered by HP warranty he said yes... When I checked on the HP website it is out of warranty !!! This is a brand new pc and all the trimmings, surely the warranty should kick in when I have actually purchased the device - I have all the receipts for this and the dates... I am appauled at not only the suppler but HP, no information or guidance. Simon

I just bought my laptop on 17 March 2017. However, when I checked the warranty status, it wrote the start date as 16 December 2016 and end date as 13 february 2018. Isn't the start date supposed to be my date of purchase?

Yes but they do not know that. The system fills in a "presumed" date based on average shelf life. Keep the proof of purchase and if you ever have a warranty claim you can prove your date of purchase and the warranty will be honored.

System is a dell studio xps 435mt/ os 7 premium/ I7 CPU/ 8 gigs of ram/ ati video card just replaced 3 months ago/ hitachi deskstar 500g hd/power supply delta 360w.

Had no error messages. Was running fine, it had a few glitches but nothing serious. I attempted to power up the system but nothing , it has power the green light is on for the power supply.. I get one amber light when i press the power button on front panel, and one flicker of the red light on the video card.

This system is only 2 years old. The warranty expired on it's second birthday, which was the day after the warranty ran out.

If this is the same system you asked about in your other threads, it was purchased outside Dell's sales channel in a country where Dell has no corporate presence --  all service, support and information comes from your seller.  
From the sound of it, the system either has a bogus service tag or was purchased as greymarket goods.

I bought a refurbished Latitude E6320 about two months ago, and the system gave me a warning 2 days ago saying the battery is reaching its life cycle and It need to replace a new battery. After I tried to call and online chat with different dell departments for hours including chat with one very rude custom service person, I was finally told that they get a lot of similar complains, it is normal and I can not expect the battery better than that. Should the furbished laptop not be similar to the new one? introduction of this laptop on shop said the battery should last 4 to 6 hours when I made the purchase, my laptop is less than half of it.
This is not the first time there are issues with my dell laptops. but the warranty is just ridiculous for a laptop bought 2 months ago. This is the first refurbished computer that I ever bought, and I hope this is the last laptop I bought from dell.

If the battery is original to the system, it's between 4 and 5 years old - and likely well past its design life.  A "refurbished" system of that model is not the same as a "refurbished" new system - was it purchased direct from Dell, or elsewhere?

Hi I bought a display unit of AiO at the Singapore COMEX 2016 1 week ago. Sales rep told me there's on site 3 years warranty given by HP but when I set up the unit and there was a pop up warranty indicating the warranty period only covers 1 year.And the registration was done by the retailer when the pc was put on display in the event. Please advise what I can do to obtain the 3 years revised status? Should I go back to the retailer ie., Courts Singapore? Thanks.

Warranty is 1 year from first retail sale. Either the seller sold you a laptop previously sold or it sat on his shelf for a long time. Keep the receipt as you may need it to prove when you bought it. The date in the HP system is automatically generated based on wholesale delivery plus an average shelf time.

contact who you purchased it from and see what they can do. they should have records of the transaction. if you purchased it with a charge card you could contact them also for any record of the purchase.

lastly contact the manufacturer and see what they can do. some things go back there anyway i think

Hi! I have a quick question, my laptop came with a mechanical hard disk which i would like to replace with a solid state.The problem is that there is a sticker saying "Warranty void if label tampered with or removed" covering one of the screws. The end date of warranty is until Jul 2017. What i should do? Why HP is doing this really? I never owned a laptop which was impossible to upgrade the ram or the hdd...
