ASUS Mo Utility Suddenly Doesn't Recognize Fan

Q: ASUS Mo Utility Suddenly Doesn't Recognize Fan

ASUS board, 1 year old, has the Asus Probe Utility for, among other things,
monitoring the fans, incl. the PS fan, the CPU fan, and one of my 3 case
fans.

All of a sudden, it says that the chassis (case) fan isn't running, and is
giving an audible "bonk" warning sound. But the fan IS running.

It's plugged in to the board.

What's wrong, can anything be done to fix this?

Thanks!

I hate to turn the utility off, but don't want to listen
to that bonking all the time, incl in the headphones.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: ASUS Mo Utility Suddenly Doesn't Recognize Fan

the asus probe reports a fan problem when a fan is either running to slow or does not register at all (and therefore is considered stopped)

if the fan uses a 3-pin connector that goes into the motherboard, the yellow wire is ised to detect the fan's speed. you have to make sure that there is, at no point, a loose electrical connection, or one that is blocked by dust.

you can disable the alert in your bios, and probably in the asus probe utility as well.

Greetings all,
Last night I installed my new MB Asus A7N8X deluxe to replace the existing Asus A7S333 in my XP 2200 machine. Specs are XP2200, Windows XP Home, (2) 512MB's PC2700 RAM, 80 Gig IBM harddrive, formated NTFS, CD burner, cd drive, Nvidea TI 4600 video card (128) mb ram.
Ok, installation appeared to go very smoothly, after rechecking everything I powered up the system, listened to the nice voices (mb feature) telling me all was AOK, go to the screen where it says Boot in safe mode, start windows, start at command prompt, well anyway each of these reboots the system and returns me back to this window. I checked the IBM hard drive and it was set to master, and its the only drive on the flat ribbon cable. I then went to Bios Setup, and it says Auto on hard drive selection and says 82 MB. I again checked all connections and restarted to only come to the same results. I then replace the new MB with the old and everything was fine. I know it must be something simple that I'm not doing. Any Ideas would be helpfull.
I would not like to refromat my hard drive if I didn't have to. is there anyway to get this working
thanks
John

I have played normal DVDs off the drive, but it won't recognize Blu-Ray dvds. When I connected it, it supposedly downloaded the drivers, and when I went to windows update it had no new updates for hardware. Also, I went to the ASUS site, but it had some "egreen" update for the hardware, which I'm not sure if it did anything.

When the blu-ray dvd is "read" it comes up as a blank dvd or cd. I'm not sure which specifically, but I don't think it really matters.

The drive itself is OEM... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135188

Apart from Blu-Rays it works great... but I bought it for that reason alone...

How sure are you that the hardware is actually present? Does it show in Device Manager as present but disabled due to no driver installed? Is there a switch that turns the BT on/off that needs to be turned on?

Good evening!
I have the asus board in my Vista Ultimate system. I had a couple of 500GB sata drives, and wanted to replace one of them with a 1T drive(Western Digital WD10000CSRTL) . When I connected the new drive, the system just hangs at the point where it's listing the drives right before boot. Strange thing is, it gets the model number, but hangs at capacity. It does the same thing even if it's the only sata drive in the system. Does the a7n8x board support drives that large, or do I need to take back the drive? Asus's website has been less than helpful, and google searches didn't net a hit on this combo and problem. I turn to the gurus for enlightenment... Thanks for any assistance!

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask about this, but I'll try.

Yesterday everything was working fine with my Asus VE228T that I use as the main display on my left (and my laptop screen works as the secondary screen on the right). The resolution is 1920 x 1080.

This morning things were just weird, my Asus wasn't displaying anything and I went to the Screen Resolution properties and tried doing what I've always done if the screen hasn't been on, choosing "extend these displays", didn't work right as the laptop screen remained as the main one (usually the Asus has switched as the main display by itself) and the Asus did turn on BUT with my laptop's resolution! And I have never had to tick the "make this my main display" for the Asus, but I had to do it now, and even then it remains as the display 2 and my laptop screen as the 1. the Asus screen is now on the left as somewhat the main screen, but I can't set the resolution right anymore! The highest now is 1600 x 1200, instead of 1920 x 1080. What is wrong with my Asus??

A:My Asus monitor suddenly doesn't recognise its highest resolution

Oh my! I ran CCleaner, cleaned my registry and it works just fine now! Any idea what was wrong as I'm still curious?

Hi.
Not sure I understand how you could perform a factory reset if you don't have the recovery partition available. You should have gotten an error that the ASUS Recovery Partition could not be found.

You would need to get to a working computer and download either the Media Creation Tool for W10, or the current ISO from MSTechBench. You can use RUFUS to create a bootable flash drive, and then install W10 that way.

You might also want to check the health of your hard drive, to make sure it's not failing.

Hope that helps!

In one topic I asked how to Overclock. I learned it , and know more about it.
But now my problems is my BIOS. I dont know how to use it. That isnt classic....
I dont have to edit time or HDD slave, not to do anything harder !

My BIOS is same as http://images.anandtech.com/doci/4499/ASUS%20BIOS%201%20-%20EZ%20Main.png

My motherboard is ASUS P8H61-M LX2 and it have latest ASUS BIOS (EFI BIOS Utility- EZ mode , I attached one link here to see).

My questions are :
1. Can I back normal BIOS like one old ?
2. How to use that ? Is there any tutorial for this ?

That is all for now.
Thanks in advance.

Did you read your MB manual. It has a section on the Bios that explains all the options. If you click on the Advanced Mode it will look a lot like the old bios with lots of options.

It's not really about overclocking, but power savings. I have not used it myself. You can certainly do without it, but if you are interested in seeing what effects lower energy usage settings have (if any) on performance in day to day use, you might be able to save some energy.

Okay, this one is seriously upsetting me. I only built the damn machine two months ago and if something is already dead I'm going to cry.

I went to boot up my machine this morning -- same as any morning, absolutely no changes or tweaks have been made. Instead of my usual win7 logo appearing as the OS starts up, I get a black screen informing me to reboot and select a proper boot device. Huh?

According to the BIOS, there is no HDD in my computer. Which is odd, because it was there yesterday and I haven't removed it... checked the cables, all connections are fine. No weird noises or clicks from the drive. It's just suddenly not recognized by the computer anymore, as if it weren't there. There was absolutely no indication of a problem before I powered down yesterday; just another normal day. Shut everything down, went to sleep. Booted up this morning and evidently some little HDD elves came in the night and killed my drive.

Any ideas? It's a 3.5" Samsung Spinpoint 1TB internal HDD running Win7 Home Premium. Bought from Newegg two months ago and haven't had a single problem until now.

Hello all, I am new to OC. I just wanted to see what my system could do. The motherboard has a built in OC utility in BIOS. The motherboard has three settings you can click on, Energy Efficient, Normal, and OCBurner(or something of that nature). I have Open Hardware Monitor always running. My temps never go higher than 45 C. The BSOD/Lock Up is sporadic. Sometimes during gameplay, and other times just idling. Any ideas?

Here is my rig if this helps.

A:BSOD After using ASUS Sabertooth 990FX MOBO OC Utility.

From a BSOD perspective, I can say that Overclocking makes the computer unstable. If it BSODs with overclocking and stable without it, I would go with stable.

Hi Seven Forums,

I have a problem with my Asus X52JK laptop.
Upon getting a new laptop and my sibling's laptop (conveniently) breaking down it was decided that I would give the X52 to her.

I backed up all of my personal files to an external HDD so no worries about retrieivng them. When I went to create the Recovery Discs through the utility mentioned in the title that all went smoothly and so I began the recovery process.

Booted from discs first and went through the moitons and when that was done I was expected the W7 installation screen however I was greeted with my old login screen with user account still there.

I repeated the process with the same result then decided to check the Recovery Utility and says partition does not exist yet I used MiniTool Partition Wizard and the partition is in fact there. I have tried to use EasyBCD to get around this but with no luck. I have spent roughly 2 days on this problem.

So is there a remedy for this or will I just have to download a Windows 7 ISO and install that?

I appreciate any help I can get.

I'm running Win XP SP3, on a Dell XPS computer.

I recently had a bad malware problem, and in the course of trying to solve the malware problem I ran several programs, including CF.exe, SuperAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware, and RegSupreme Pro (a registry cleaner).

Malware problem is gone, but now no sound!

My sound card is a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE. That's what shows up in Device Manager. But in the "Sound" control panel, "Audio" tab, the only board that shows up in the pull-down menu is an Emu10Kx. There are no other options. Before my efforts to rid myself of the malware problem, the Sound Blaster showed up, and no Emu10Kx.

I suspect this is the problem. No sound on any program. Volume is mid-level or above on all programs and the sound control panel. Sound is not muted on sound control panel. Speakers work fine hooked up to another audio source.

Drivers for the Sound Blaster reinstalled, no change. No exclamation marks or other signs of trouble in Device Manager.

How can I get the computer to recognize the Sound Blaster again?

A:Win XP suddenly won't recognize sound card

Registry cleaners.... Im not sure if a reg cleaner will stop a soundcard from working, but i do know of people having ALOT of problems with using Reg ""Clean"" software.

If i wer you id take advantage of the Backup feature of the software and see does your sound come back, worth a try.

And give some thought as to wgat your actually deleting wen you "clean" a registry. The registry is a Gargantuan thing, Its like cleaning one step on the stairway to the Eiffel Tower.

I tried Reg Cure. I ran a scan and it Presented me with something like 1687 "errors" So i Clicked on clean, And i Rebooted and ran it again and i came up with another 1000 or so "errors"........

There is no hard Proof that "regcleaners" Improve the performance of a System.

Just be careful with the likes of them. i myslef wouldnt use one.

Hi, all. I'm new to this forum and to Windows 7, actually, because I just recently had my dad's Lenovo 14001 upgraded from Vista to Window 7 Ultimate. The only reason we had his Lenovo upgraded was because we encountered the "0xc00000e9" problem (i.e., the one that says "Windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt... status 0xc00000e9"). Upon advice that it'd be best to upgrade to Win 7, we then upgraded his PC last March 30, 2013. After Win 7 installation, everything was fine. We didn't encounter any problems. Then just now, or a week later (April 6), the PC could not recognize any USB. I have a flash drive and a mouse here that light up when inserted to a PC. But now they won't light up. I checked Disk Management to see if the flash drive's "found" there but there's only the Local Disk [C:] and the DVD Drive [E:]. I've googled answers and tried suggested remedies, but none so far worked.

So I'm thinking (we're not techie persons and we use our PC for office and business work, so sorry if my wild guess sounds stupid), since the PC is around 6 years old, maybe the problem's in the actual PC unit? Lenovo 14001 is after all an old unit--i.e., unlike laptops today, it has no webcam or bluetooth, etc., and it shuts down unexpectedly when it gets too hot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Why not you try to run your WDC first in bios to see if it work. If it work, try run both in separate IDE (IBM in IDE1 and WDC in IDE2) If it works too, try to put both hdd together IBM in master and WDC in slave. if it work, here you go, if not work, go to previous step and use that configuration.

I have an old computer (MSI mobo, amd quad, 8 gigs ram, pci-e video out)

Usually this machine works fine, but I've let it sit for a while.

For a while, mobo wouldn't recognize PCI-e videocard. (I've confirmed the videocard actually works, but keep reading)

In order for mobo to recognize that video output, every once in a while I had to remove CMOS battery and wait a minute, then put it back.

I believe, that the BIOS information gets whacked sometimes, and it tries to force the MOBO video out, which is why CMOS needs reseting. (sounds funky, but it has worked a few times).

Currently, even if I remove the CMOS battery, the PCI-e video output is not recognized.

Also, my luminated USB keyboard does not light up when powering on the machine. In fact it doesn't seem to work at all.

All of the fans (both 3-pin mobo fans and MOLEX fans light up and spin fine), but there's no video output and USB keyboard doesn't light up.

I haven't tried to use the MOBO's video out, but I suspect that might work. (but, maybe not since the USB devices don't seem to work).

This machine has been in my garage and I use it out there; yes, it can get chilly, but rarely below 32 degrees F I would suspect.

(Okay fine, maybe it has been below 32f, but that shouldn't matter too much right?)

SUMMARY: PCI-e video doesn't work, USB devices don't seem to work, but the MOBO fans, heatsink, etc all light up & spin fine.

Any ideas?

I had some trouble with a trojan which I think I got taken care of. I also did some Windows updates. Sometime in that time period my computer will not recognize my modem (even when connected directly without router) or wired router. DSL support was not able to solve.

My other computer on the network can access the internet so the modem and DSL connect are working fine.

I tried reinstalling W2k and everything else I can possibly think of for the last two days.

Anything I can do to troubleshoot? Thanks.
Jeff

A:W2K computer suddenly won't recognize router or DSL modem

Your computer will never "recognise" the router or the modem. Remote network devices are not supposed to be "recognised" or "installed".

When you installed Windows, did you install the drivers for your network card?
Plug the computer into the router and post here the output of rhe "ipconfig /all" command.

My laptop doesn't recognize the mic on my Merkury headset. I can listen to audio just fine but it doesn't recognize that it is also a mic. There is only one place to insert the headset and it is made for both microphones and earbuds (Trust me I checked.) I have made the Audio Manager show disabled devices and it still doesn't show up. This is very frustrating because I have only had my laptop for two months and this headset is brand new.

What is the specific model of the Laptop? Also what is the exact make/model of your headset/mic unit?

I am at the end of my rope with this system. I downloaded the recovery software to a USB Port but when I plug it in it won't boot or recognize the port to start the recovery process. I tried going to F9 but it says my system needs repair and I get an error message saying "files are missing" no recovery data found..What can I do to get it to boot to the USB?

A:How do I get my ASUS S550c to recognize my USB to recover

Maybe go into the BIOS & enable the boot menu which will probably get F-12 assigned to it on boot up.

Insert the USB.
At booting press F-12 to get the boot manager.
Choose the USB to boot from.

That's one way.

I'm running Windows XP Media Center Service Pack 3 on a Compaq Presario V6000 laptop with an HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GMA-4082N drive.
Until recently, I never had any problems burning audio and data CDs or DVDs.

Windows recognizes the discs I burned previously, but when I insert blank DVDs now I get one of two error messages: "Please insert a disc into drive E:/" or "E:/ is not accessible. Incorrect function."

A couple of weeks ago I was having a similar problem while attempting to burn audio CDs, with the same "incorrect function" error message, but that turned out to be a simple matter of checking a box on the Recording tab of the Properties. At that time, however, i was able to burn DVDs using Roxio Easy Media Creator 10. But yesterday I tried to burn a DVD of some photos and once it was finished burning and verifying the disc I suddenly got an "insert disc" error message.

Also, about the same time the burning functions stopped working properly, the disc tray started spontaneously ejecting itself. Not sure if they're connected, but that's the whole story.

Any ideas? I've been trying solutions from previous threads with similar symptoms but have had no luck so far...

I have an one year old HP pavilion with Vista 32 bit and a Canon A650 IS digital camera. I downloaded photos successfully for a year by just plugging the USB cable into the camera and computer. Then a couple months ago, the computer stopped recognizing the camera. I discovered though that the computer would recognize the SD card if I removed it from the camera and inserted it in the computer's onboard SD card reader. So that is what I've been doing...till today...now my computer will not recognize the SD card either. The SD card (transcend 8 GB) continues to work in my camera though, and I can scroll through the pictures I just took (and have been trying to load into my computer all morning!). I even installed Canon's Zoombrowser software off the original disk--doesn't recognize card or camera either. Checked for new drivers but none seem to be required. Tried two other USB ports--no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

richkuy

Before I recently upgraded my computer from Win 7 Pro to Win 10 Pro, the drive was working fine. But now Windows will not recognize the drive.......although it does show up in Disk Management, there is no content.

I then ran the utility EaseUS Partition Master, and immediately the disk was recognized. In fact, the disk contents were even shown (photos and short videos), and everything looks to be in order.

I tried connecting the drive to an older computer running Win 7 Ultimate. Same problem......Windows won't recognize it, but EaseUS recognizes it and shows the drive contents.

Any idea why Windows won't now recognize this drive? It was working fine on my new computer before I upgraded to Win 10.

Thanks in advance..........

Okay, so I paid for the full version of Winzip, and I love it. I do a lot of registry modification, stopping the UAC prompt from dimming the screen, OEM login background, forcibly disabling unnecessary windows network services, etc (the registry is a lot simpler than most people think it is, the keys are usually named descriptively and the value is either 0-off or 1-on), so I love the ability to compress files that extract themselves to the registry (.reg files don't by default get admin privileges). However, one thing I don't like about Winzip is that is splits files. Automatically.
Basically, what happened is my mom disconnected her phone without using  the "remove safely" option, and her SD card got corrupted, all of it. Literally unreadable to any Windows computer. Luckily, I have a rooted android tablet running cyanogen (Nook HD+), and as you probably know, Linux, most mainstream distros at least, tends to ignore Windows' free space markers (files aren't really deleted, just marked as free space. Windows ignores Linux markers in the same way). So I plugged it into my tablet, used FileManager Tablet Edition to wipe the metadata (this includes the free space markers), then transferred it to a flash drive to zip and e-mail back to her.
So I stuck the flash drive in my laptop (it's old, a 2005 Dell Latitude ... Read more

As for what I recall, original zip spec limit size to 4 GB.
You can chose Zip64 option in most zippers, or switch to a format without this limitation as the new zipx, rar, or 7z.
If the filesystem is FAT32 however, it will not be able to store files larger than 4 GB, so check if destination unit is NTFS (some, even large, usb dongles still comes in FAT32!)

Hi there,
My sister just bought a new desktop. It was working fine and all. But this morning, she forced shut down a windows update. The next thing happen once it gets past through BIOS is
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"
So I told her to look at the BIOS setting and it only recognise the Optical Disc Drive of
"SATA SM: TSSTcorp CDDVD SH-2"
as shown in the picture below

Is there anything I can do? I tried opening the desktop case and see everything is loose, but everything was still in tact.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A:Hard Disk Drive not found in ASUS UEFI BIOS Utility - EZ Mode

Try reinstalling the driver, changing cables. If it can't be recognized then boot the maker's diagnostics DOS CD scan to test it - Seatools if there isn't one - or Partition Wizard bootable CD surface scan. If these won't see it you can slave it to another PC to try Disk Check or see if it will see it. If not then I'd replace it.

Do a Clean Reinstall on the replacement drive from tutorial in my signature below if you want it perfect.

In device manager I slected unit, selected uninstalled. Restarted computer it recognized CD-Rom loaded software successvely. But still not showing. Asus support thought maybe something is not working right with windows 7.

A:Asus Computer/Windows 7; won't recognize internal DVD

Welcome to SevenForums:

I would try going to device manager and using update the driver tab. If that dosen't work and your sure all your cables and power are right (which it sounds like they are).
You might alsoo qwant to check and see ioif their is a firmware update.
It sounds like you have done alot already so.

I would start suspecting a failing drive. As I don't know of any Windows Seven CD/DVD drive bugs
