I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hey, many people have a problem, when recording Pc games, and want to record sound for games, well stereo mix records it, but if you turn up the sound, it echoes and makes white noise, well i have a fix! all you have to do is........

1.Go to the sound Icon and right click it, then click recording devices.

2. Right click Stereo Mix and go on properties.

3. Go to levels and turn it down to 0

4. Record your game, music, and it should be fine!

Hi Lenovo and everyone, I have two issues with the sound of my Y700-15ISK:I.When any Realtek driver is installed that includes support for the subwoofer, a high pass filter is applied on the main stereo speakers, making sound poorer and more mono-like, especially with enhanced bass using an equalizer.(High pass filter removes low bass frequencies from the main stereo speakers.)(When the default Microsoft driver is installed that does not have subwoofer support, no high pass filter is applied on the main stereo speakers.)Is there a way to disable the high pass filter? I would like bass to come from the main stereo speakers as well. I see no such option on any of the available GUIs, is there such an option from a Command Line Interface? If there is no such option currently, could you put this option in a subsequent driver release, or simply remove the high pass filter from the driver? If you do not have the resources to do so, could you enable us to modify the driver source code and create a custom driver without high pass filter? I am sure the community would love the enhanced music coming from this and similar laptops using the updated driver.(Win 10 or Win7) II.Only on Win7:Subwoofer is out of sync with the main stereo speakers resulting in echo.Happens using Lenovo's Win7 64-bit, Win10 64-bit, and Realtek's generic driver as well. Could you guys fix this? Does anyone have a solution for these? Thanks,Andras

Hi

My only poroblem with RC7100 revolves around the fact that through my speakers, when playing music, I get an "echo-ey" sound....I thought it was because I had placed my microphone too close to the speakers and/or had my microphone turned up too loud (no such problem when set up the same when I boot into Vista)...but no, adjusting volume setting and/or moving microphone to a different location has not solved this 'echo' in my music!

Bit strange, bit annoying, as I do listen as I work!

Device Manager shows no dreaded exclaimation marks, crosses or the like and all drivers are up to date.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have no audio, but when I go to (right-click sound icon in tray) --> Playback Devices --> Playback tab --> right click "Speakers / Headphones Realtek High Definition Audio" --> Configure, then in Speaker Setup dialog:
* If I select Quadraphonic in the "Audio channels" list, I hear sound for the RL (rear-left) and RR (rear-right) speakers, with my stereo speakers plugged into the black jack in back. I cannot get sound when testing the regular L and R speakers in Quadraphonic mode; I've tried all 5 jacks.
* When I select Stereo, then clicking L or R speaker icon to test results in no sound, again no matter which of the 5 jacks i plug my stereo speakers into.
* So the only way I have sound is in Quadraphonic mode, but only for the back speakers. Therefore I cannot hear regular stereo output from applications, such as Youtube in Chrome.
This seems like a bug, or a highly unintuitive aspect of Realtek's or Dell's software at best. Any ideas on how to solve? (Beside buying full surround sound speakers)

hi quick question, when ripping songs from cds should you use stereo or joint stereo. i noticed that no matter which 1 u use, the file size remains the same.

i would like to know whick one gives u the best quality and such....i want my songs to sound the way they do on the cds without losing any information.

A:Solved: Stereo or Joint Stereo?

If you want a technical answer look here

http://harmsy.freeuk.com/mostync/

and here

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=31963&hl=stereo+joint

(it starts a bit flamey, but gets more interesting towards the end)

As for which to use, thats really a personal choice, many will say to go for true stereo, because that is more like the original. However, that isn't necessarily true. It is possible to recreate the original sound via joint stereo (all my music is stored in lossless format and uses JS), and JS performs better under compression than true stereo. Therefore, JS should out perform Stereo in any given amount of data, or, if the quality is the same, the JS compression will give more data to other parts of the track. (I hope that makes sense).

You need to bear in mind that there is only so much data to provide for the track, good compression concentrates the data where it is needed. JS allows more data to be used by more important or noticeable elements in the track.

Of course the best way to find out is to test it yourself and run ABX tests.

http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=16295&

Foobar2000 is a good tool to do ABX tests. Try to use quality audio equipment

Doing these tests will show you what your ears find is the best system, which is what it really comes down to.

It is important that you use a good encoder and a bit-rate that will give you a quality that you are happy with. If you are encoding in MP3, th... Read more

Q: Echo

I get a terrible echo in vista now that I've upgraded to it, someone said something about concert hall setting, but I can't find that anywhere in Vista, and I never set it to that setting in the first place, so if anyone knows what to do to fix this problme I would appreciate it. I know my drivers are up to date, according to Vista. Thank you in advance for any help.

A:Echo

Welcome.

You would need to provide at least a little info as to what you have in the way of a PC, and what you did to "upgrade" to Vista.

If you have loaded Vista as an upgrade from an earlier version of Windows, you will have to visit the computer makers website (or the motherboard makers website) and download and install the correct drivers, the default Vista drivers will not always suffice.

If by "upgrade" to Vista you mean that you have bought a new PC with Vista pre-loaded, the answer may be different, but with no information it's hard to be any more specific.

A:too much echo!!!

Your version of driver software may have installed a "sound effects" option under control panel.

If so, it will have options for all these "sound effects" and you can deselect as required.

The name of the option will depend on the drivers loaded, but it should be reasonably obvious when you check under control panel.

No PC Spec's or at least the make and model number of the laptop, so we can't specifically address your system.

However, some audio systems, such as Realtek have a separate management panel (Realtek has the HD Audio Manager) with Sound Enhancement options including Echo, reverb, chorus, etc. Check yours and turn off any enhancement.

pause
Del C:\WINDOWS\Temp
echo .
echo .
echo .
echo Success
echo You should now have some extra disk space!

But upon running the bat it performs the action but the first echo command after @echo off simply says ECHO is off. rather that what I want it to say everything else displays properly what's going on?

Strange. It is just the first echo cmd that doesn't work and it doesn't echo any of the output of the delete cmd?

I just copied and pasted your code directly and it worked fine. You sure you don't have some extraneous tabs or something else in there. I would open it in notepad++ and turn on all characters to see if there is something in there.

Is there any adjustments or settings in xp that will fix this problem? The previous owner says that sound was just fine. I have checked sound and sound schemes but all seems okay there. The computer is for games and programs only - no internet access.

I have a problem with my speakers echoing. I thought it might have happened when my son installed a Sim City game so I uninstalled it. Unfortunately I still have the echoing almost like a surround sound but I only have 2 speakers. I've been through the Windows XP help menu with no success. If anyone could help me I'd be very thankful. Sean

My headset starts echoing when I turn it on. I tried reducing sensitivity, but it didn't work. Then I googled it and someone suggested muting stereo mix. When I did that, then the echo did go away, but when I used windows mic testing program then it didn't recognise anything and Mumble moved the bar a few pixels if I blowed into the mic.
It is some Philips headset (don't know more exactly).
If it matters then I am using Windows XP.

nvm I got it working with another headset and the same settings with my headset don't work so that probably means my headset is faulty

First off I would like to say hi to everyone, im new to TechSpot.

So anyways, I just recently bought an ASUS P5N SLI mobo for my desktop because my intel mobo had a heartattack, but my new mobo's sound is onboard and its called Realtek HD Audio, im a gamer, so using my microphone is essential when playing certain games and talking in Ventrilo, but for some reason, when I talk to my friends now in Ventrilo they complain of harsh beeping sounds coming from my mic, so I decided to use the sound recorder that came with windows and my voice seemed just fine, I went on to do further testing with the 'Test Hardware' feature under control panel, and when I got to the part where I record my voice and simutaneously hear my voice, the microphone picked up the first sound it got and echoed it horribly. Any tips?
