Q: Thinkpad T470p mobile broadband is not working....!!!!

Hello I recently bought a Thinkpad T470p .... win 10i have installed all the driver it needs ...... but couldn't manage to use the mobile broadband ......can anyone suggest.... thankyou

Preferred Solution: Thinkpad T470p mobile broadband is not working....!!!!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hello and welcomeAre you sure the WWAN modem is installed in the laptop? What's the laptop' MTM code (starts with 20J)? If it's a CTO model (MTM includes CTO symbols), laptop' s/n is needed to determine factory specification. Don't share it here, send it to me via forum private messages service. I'll try to help.

Hi all,I have issues getting mobile (3/4g) broadband to work with my new T470 Thinkpad. In Ubuntu, the Fibocom Adapter is only detected as a generic MBIM adapter, and although Network Manager (and it's applet) display my network provider, the connection is not established, and the system process mbim-proxy is hanging at 100% CPU. This issue has been reported here (but seems to remain unsolved ?) : https://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-usb/msg158286.html Did anyone get this to work?Best whishes and thanks for any hints!

Hi there, Using a X1 Thinkpad, with mobile broadband module (Ericsson FG5521gw). When a SIM is loaded it comes up and tells me 'No SIM card found'.I've upgraded all the Lenovo software to the latest versions... including Broadband drivers, Access Connections software, etc.Is this a common problem? It seems to be the case in all industry reviews in Australia for all X1s that were tested.1. http://www.arnnet.com.au/short_review/388015?2. http://www.pcworld.idg.com.au/review/notebooks/lenovo/thinkpad_x1_1291-23m/388015?Is this a known problem?    Do we have faulty broadband modules being shipped?I'll speak to  Lenovo support  -- just wondering if others are experiencing the same issue?

We have the same issue on german X1s. On mine Lenovo has already changed the mainboard twice and also the WWAN card. No success. Sim is still not being recognized. Seems to be a faulty sim reader on all units. Very sad.  If you get more details from Lenovo on how to fix it i will be glad to hear from you. I am also in permanent contact with them because for me this WWAN feature is essential.

We have close to 400 of the P40's in our work environment. Just recently, we started getting calls and tickets to where the WiFi was no longer listed in the network connections list or that the WiFi was listed but the mobile broadband was not. After some research and troubleshooting, we noticed that on these machines, if you disabled the mobile broadband  in the Device Manager, the WiFi would come back. If you re-enabled the mobile broadband, the WiFi would disappear again. But they will not display together. We've updated all drivers, we've verified the BIOS rev. and updated that. These machines run WIndows 8.1. We've checked Windows Updates and haven't come to a conclusion that it's an update. As the calls and tickets are a sliver of the machines in use.  We've checked power management settings and disabled the ability for the machine to turn the cards off, no change.  We've reimaged the laptops we have been testing with a clean install of Windows 8.1 and no added software, no change.  The associates that use these machiens can't use the mobile broadband 24/7. These are metered connections and were meant to be used when in area's with no access to WiFi. Two questions:1. Was there a different mobile braodband chip added throughout production that may be causing this?2. Has anyone ele seen this issue? If so, was it resovled? Thanks

Hello, I'm thinking to buy ThinkPad Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250. I?ve few questions, Pease suggest ...1. Is it really any good and practically beneficial?2. Can I use it on Fedora 27, How?s Linux support?3. X250 has two PCI Express M.2 card slot and one is already occupied by WLAN Card and other slot is available, Can I use empty slot for FRU-04X6014?4. Can I use both WLAN and WWAN simultaneously?5. What is the impact on battery (Windows and Linux)?6. Is AliExpress a good place to buy? Thankyou

A:Sierra Wireless EM7345 4G LTE Mobile Broadband FRU: 04X6014 for my ThinkPad X250

Regarding your questions:1) I personally use it and it's really good, as I don't want to use additional USB modem or WWAN wireless router.2) Can't say, as I don't use Fedora.3) There's a dedicated port for this module. Please make sure, that you have an antenna connectors for module and adapter for a SIM card. Moreover, instead of WWAN module, you can install there a m.2 2242 SSD disk.4) Both can be enabled and connected, but application will use one at time.5) I have an extended battery, so it's hard to tell. I guess it have a simmilar power usage as WLAN module (basing on Windows power utilization). Can't say about Fedora.6) It you don't want to have a problem with whitelist (it prevent system from booting, when unauthorized module is installed), then I look for module on eBay. Make sure, that photos explictly show FRU PN: 04X6014 on module's label. Models without it will not work.

Here's an odd thing.
After switching off my Dell Dimension 5150 and then switching off the power at the mains, which I do when I go away for long periods, it then won't restart until I remove the mobile broadband dongle. I get the flashing amber signal on the power button. However, as soon as I remove the dongle, then the PC starts up fine, or at least it has done so far, so it's not really a problem, but it would be interesting and probably quite wise to find out why this is happening.

I did recently remove the case to replace the CMOS battery as I was getting the low battery message on start-up, but, apart from that, I can't recollect doing anything that may have caused this.

Hello All: I can't get the GPS location feature working on my new W520 (4270-CTO).  The device did work once, the first day I had the computer (before running Microsoft Update and Lenovo Update), however, it has not worked since then. I've tried everything I can think of - removing and re-installing all the software, double-checking the BIOS, looking for device driver problems - but no luck.  When I launch the 'GPS Enabler' application, all I see is 'Satellite Acquisition in progress...".  I know the laptop can see the satellite constellation because I have a small hand-held GPS beside the laptop, and it has an excellent view of the satellites.  So does my Blackberry. My operating system is Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, SP 1 (what the computer shipped with).  I've installed the 83wo13ww driver package (nominally version, according to the readme file, but displayed as driver version in the properties sheet of the driver when viewed via the Device Manager); the 83wa20ww Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation package ( version 4.0.0020); and the 83gp31ww ThinkVantage GPS package (version 2.72). I'm running Access Connections 5.84 (build 83c755ww), which I believe is the current release.  I have placed a SIM card in the slot in the back of the computer, and when I launch the Lenovo Mobile Broadband Activation, it shows all the appropriate information (IMEI, ICCID, etc.) for the SIM card... A:Can't get GPS working on W520 with Ericsson F5521gw Integrated Mobile Broadband

Just a postscript - I have found another discussion from about 18 months ago that mentions similar problems with a W500 and a T500.  One of the participants in that discussion suggested that improper assignment of COM ports might be the cause of the problem... but, if that is so, how does one go about re-assigning the two ports used by the GPS?  The picture I provided (link is above) shows that my W520 is using COM ports 10 and 11 for the GPS.  I have no idea at all how to change this port assignment. Here's the link to the prior discussion: W500 GPS Problem Regards, Michael

I run Windows 7 64bit os with an Orange high Speed (!) mobile broadband dongle (515m).
The software (Internet Everywhere) stopped working months ago and after much arguing with Orange, they admitted that it was a software compatibility problem with my os but promised that an update would be coming soon. They gave a workaround which meant the dongle worked on dial up (with associated speed).
However, after waiting months for the update, it's finally arrived but it still doesn't work!
Just like the last software version, after installing it clean, it crashes at start up and won't operate.
Last night I had to stay up hours to roll back my system to get the dial up working again as it prevented that from working too.
I'm really sick of this and Orange's response has been woefully unsatisfactory, bordering on insulting. The latest gem was to uninstall everything internet connected then download the software! How? This has been pretty much the level of response from Orange. I'm about ready to cancel my contract with them for breach of contract.
Any ideas anyone?

Oh, my laptop is an Acer Aspire 7540.

A:Orange Mobile Broadband 515m Dongle not working with Windows 7

Hi, not sure if this is what you meant by the workaround, but I had the same problem and solved it by manually configuring a dial-up connection with windows using the number *99#
The software started crashing whenever I started it and, much like Orange have now pointed out, I suspected it was some sort of conflict with Windows 7. Initially the only way I had to get round it was constant system restores whenever the problem started, but that wasn't practical. The manual dial-up seems the best way I have found so far. The speed and service using it this way appears to be the same if not better than when using it with the software.

I have a feeling this may be a driver error, but I dont know.
A friend gave me a computer,

Os: Vista x86
OEM I think
Hardware age: 2007
Age of installation: not sure, its my friends. Might not have been reinstalled before

CPU: Athlon 64x2
Video Card: Onboard Graphics
Mobo: Inspiron 532 mobo
PSU: Bestec ATX0300P5WB 300W

System Manufacturer: DELL
Model No.: Inspiron 531

It works perfectly fine, apart from when I connect to the internet through 3 mobile broadband (3 Huawei E122). Once it connects, internet explorer launches. As soon as I begin using IE, the computer freezes, mouse will not move, keyboard will not work, then after 2 mins it blue screens. stop code is 0x77. I have tried to exit IE and use firefox instead, this works much better but it still bluescreens, just less frequently.

My friend brought it to a local shop who told him the usb header on the mobo is the problem and needs a new mobo and qouted him ?250 repair. However I dont think this is the problem as, no other usb device gives any trouble at all. And the mobile brodband dongle only crashes once it connects and the browser is launched.

I ran Norton antivirus, super anti spyware, malwarebytes antimalware, and RU Botted. All I picked up was a few malwares.

I also ran full system diagnostic test, with no problems.

I purchased a HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k111nr Sleekbook that came with T-mobile Mobile Broadband for 2 years from the Microsoft Store two months ago. When I clicked 'Internet Access', there would be a 'Mobile Broadband' option for me to choose and select the T-mobile Mobile Broadband. I was initially very happy with the power consumption off the 470P but after a while I discovered that the indicated runtime sometimes decrease substantially for no reason even when I close all apps and just viewing the desktop. With some investigation, I have found out that the CPU "loose" or stops using the Package c-states from C10 to C2 after running for a while, could be from a few minutes to a couple of hours after boot (the core C states are fine). When it loses the package c states they will not be active again until reboot, sleep or timeout from "Turn off display  XX minutes". It does not help to close all programs and just view the desktopI have used Hardware Info(64) to verify this but windows also reflect this directly on indicated runtime. When on battery the idle "Package Power" increase from about 0.4Watt to 2 -2.5W and I see a reduction in battery runtime from about 10 hours (lite use) to about 5-6 hours. Had a brand new Thinkpad T470p and after taking a flight (and plugging the machine into the powerport on the plane) the machine would not charge any longer. When booting from any power source, the machine would tell me that the AC Adapater was not powerful enough to charge my machine.  After working with Lenovo Tech Support and receiving a new AC Adapter for the machine, they finally gave me a new machine. Yesterday it happened again after taking another flight and using my laptop on the plane. So figured I'd do some research and found the solution rather than go through the same thing with Lenovo. Here's an existing thread that goes into detail on the issue: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/W540-charging-bug-WiFi-OFF-no-charge/m-p... There's a "bug" in the Lenovo Power settings that puts the laptop in Airplane Power Mode (whatever that is). Apparently the software is designed to avoid high-powered laptops from drawing too much power from the airplanes power port which is rated at 65W, not the 135W the T470p (and likely other more powerful Thinkpads). BUT, the software does not correct itself when you plug back into a proper power portin your home or office and the error messages do not accuratly reflect what's going on.  All you simply have to do is go to Lenovo's Power Settings and turn off Airplane Power Mode to either Balanced or High Performance and all is well again. Wish Lenovo tech support would have known ... Hi, I have a quite strange monitor related issue with my beloved t470p. My two Dell monitors connected through DisplayPort interfaces of my docking station. Everything is fine, the picture is brilliant, so I have nothing to complain about except one thing. When I start watching Netflix on one of the monitors, that monitor turns off ) Maybe this is something built in 'get back to work' feature, but I don't like it. It is no matter if I try win10 Netflix app, or start a movie in a browser, every time is the same. I suppose this is maybe related to the copy protection functions in the Intel driver, but I'm not sure. There is a newer driver available on Intel's website, but I cannot install this because we have a vendor customized version of the driver  Do you have any idea? Have you seen something similar before? Thank youLaszlo

Please help! I have 3 connect mobile broadband (dongle). I connected it ages ago and it installed and worked fine. Then I uninstalled it. Now when I put the dongle into the USB port, it won't auto install. It says that it cannot be installed properly. (it does, however, work on other computers). I phones 3 connect support and they were uselss. When I looked into device manager, and click on the icon (which has a ! on it) it says:
Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19).

It wont auto load and im getting pretty fed up. Please can anyone help. I am thinking I must have deleted some drivers, but when i select 'update driver' it says that my drivers are fully updated.

Please help!

Does anyone else use a mobile broadband stick that you just plug in to your USB port and away you go? I'm using one on the 3 network, its the second one I've had.And Does anyone know if companies such as AOL or BT plan to bring out versions as at the moment in the uk its only T-Mobile,3,Virgin,Vodafone and Orange who offer them, and usage is quite expensive typically ?10 1Gb,?15 3Gb and ?25 7Gb.I'm using 7Gb a month and I'm not downloading very much

o2 are are advertising it,but its just a 3G i-phone on pay as you go for ?350 i could buy a laptop for that!! At the moment Vodafone offer the fastest speed 7.2mbps the other all around 3mbps.

Hi and welcome to the forums.

I assume you live in the UK like me so I think I can help.

I use 3 mobile broadband which in my opinion is the best of the PAYG tariffs. You can buy a dongle which is the expensive bit or if you have an unlocked 3G phone which allows tethering you can use that if you know how to set it up.
You get 150MB of free data when you top up (minimum ?5 in store, ?10 online) plus it also works as a phone if you want it to.
This 150MB of data lasts 90 days or until you use it all up.
This means it works out you spend ?1.66 for 50MB of data every month, which if you have static broadband at your home should be enough. If you ever use more than this just top up more regularly.

For more info (and probably a much clearer explanation visit 3 - Pay As You Go - SIM Only - Free stuff - Free stuff with every top-up)

I don't know too much about Virgin medias mobile broadband but a good place to start would be here Mobile Broadband - Broadband - Virgin Media

Hope this helps, Oli.

EDIT: After reading your post more carefully, it sound like your do not have your Internet connection going into a Wireless router and then to your laptop and desktop.

This suggests to me that your Virgin Contract may be quite old as all new tariffs include a free Wireless router and setup, not to mention less to pay per month (I went down this road with BT, tripled my connection speed, got a load of free stuff and I now pay ?10 less per month.)

I have an X1 Carbon Thinkpad: X1 Carbon (Type 20A7, 20A8) Laptop (ThinkPad) - Machine Type 20A8, Model 003YMZ It has a slot for a SIM card on the back, but I don't know how to get this to work. Simply popping a SIM in there does nothing! Does anyone know (a) if this model is actually configured for mobile broadband, and (b) if so, how to activate it? Many thanks!

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

I will be moving from the rented house I've been in for 21 months into a new house in the next couple of months. The house is a new-build and I will obviously not have broadband to start with - don't know if I'll have a phone line straightaway yet. I am trying to work out the best way to get online during this time.I am in the UK.

I went in to an O2 shop today and they were trying to sell me a dongle which cost 20 and then 2 a day, 7.50 for a week and 15 for a month. This would get over my immediate problem of geing broadband-lacking when I move but wasn't quite what I had in mind. I was thinking more of a dongle with x amount of Gbs (to be decided) which doesn't have clock running on it. So, after I've stopped needing it at the new house, I could take it out and about with me on my laptop whenever I wanted and when it ran out I'd top it up.

Does such a deal exist and, if so, what size in Gbs would be OK? We use aroung 10Gb per month on average but that's with the kids looking at YouTube, using iPlayer a bit so assume that just a bit of surfing would need less? Thanks for any help.

A:Mobile broadband Pay-as-you-go?

I use '3' mobile broadband all over UK. 10 per month, 1gb which is plenty for an hour or so a day surfing plus emails.

I think in a new build you'll soon have utility providers beating a path to your door!!
