Gigabyte 990FXA-UB3 and AMD FX-6100 CPU won't boot

Q: Gigabyte 990FXA-UB3 and AMD FX-6100 CPU won't boot

I just got a new mobo (Gigabyte 990FXA-UB3) and a new CPU (AMD FX-6100). Gigabyte has been telling everyone that in order to use these components together, one must update the BIOS with your old processor (for me, a Phenom II x4) for the new processor to work. How does one go about doing this? I don't understand how you update the BIOS for one processor to work with another. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also, sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Aside from this BIOS issue, I shouldn't have any problem connect these new components should I?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

well i got a gigabyte 990fxa-UD3 bored 3 moths ago, and this bored has been amazing until 2 days ago. that is when i decided to take all the fans out of my case and clean theme off. so after pulling all 6 fans out of my case, my ati radeon 6770 card, and my phenomeII X4 core 955 cpu cooler off and got theme clean, i put all the parts back in and... well suffice it to say something bad happend.

when i power the rig on, all her fans whirl as they should, all but the 6770's fan. it makes 3 full spins then just stops. keeps trying to rotate but just hangs, and yea no video, comp wont post. so i put the ram graphics, and cpu back into my old biostar mother bored (the 990fxa-ud3 was bought to replace), and well.. every thing works. so i was confused and though "maybe im drawing to much power?" so i go and unplug all teh case fans, well the 6770's fan keeps spinning, but the bored still will not post.

im going to RMA the bored, but id rather not if there is a way to fix this on my own. i have a hunch its the pci-e 3.0 slot... but i honestly am not sure..... figured you guys could shed soem light on it wile i wait for the RMA numbers and stuff to come in my email.

Quite a comprehensive unofficial review of Gigabyte's upcoming flagship motherboard- GA-880FXA-UD7- with AMD's 990FX chipset+ SB950 southbridge has surfaced...should you need any reminding that Bulldozer will soon be upon us.
Layout and colour scheme is in keeping with Gigabyte's recently released P67A/Z68 boards, and seems to offer a very comprehensive feature set including quad SLI, as well as the more usual quad CrossfireX, which would indicate that two NF200 chips reside under the heatsink between the MOSFET cooler and the first of seven PCIe x16 slots, or under the huge SB chipset cooler- since Nvidia don't as a rule offer quad card SLI unless all GPU's are afforded the bandwidth that a full 16 lanes provide.

Review is in Japanese so use your favourite translator

A:Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7 review (990FX chipset for Bulldozer)

Nice find Chef,
Even though the extra bandwidth afforded by triple channel only shows up in the memory bandwidth synth, I am surprised AMD did not adopt triple channel controller for the BD.
I am also surprised by only 2 x USB 3.0 on the back I/O...again just for appearance sake ( you know how that works).

I'm fixing this laptop for a friend, it's a big junker and it's not in warranty. She'd prefer to not lose everything, so here's my dilemma.

Somehow she's destroyed windows. Blue screens all day, even in safe mode. It's stuffed.

Now, I've got the toshy supplied backup CD's, and it will boot off it. I can hold F12 and select the CD to boot off it, and it gives me the standard 'push 1 for xp 2 for 2000', but these options just automatically format and reinstall.

What I'd like to do is use my regular XP cd to do a repair install of XP, such that I don't lose everything.

However, when I put my XP CD in, hold F12 and try to boot off CD, it just goes straight to the 'windows did not start up correctly' selection screen, and does NOT boot from the CD.

Is this a known issue? I really hate toshy. The bios on the machine is JUNK.

Thanks for the help!

A:Toshy Satellite 6100 Wonnt Boot off CD

Yep - been here before.
The last time I had this we needed to save the data on the drive so I removed it and connected the drive to a desktop using an adapter you should be able to get from any teccie store (careful about wiring it up pin1 to pin1 or you will kill the drive) - copy the data across to the PC; refit the drive and then use the Tosh system restore tools.
Hope this is useful!

I have a Pavilion DV6T-6100 with i7 @ 2Ghz laptop running Windows 10 x64. Boot up had always taken a lot of time with the original hard drive, so I just installed a SSD as a replacement to help speed things up. When booting up, the HP splash screen appears for 2 seconds, then the 'blue window' logo for about 5 seconds. Next the screen goes blank/black for 1 minute 20 seconds. Aftwards, the windows desktop comes up and everything runs quite quickly. This happened with the original hard drive as well as the new SSD. The basic question is: what is causing this 1 minute + delay during Windows boot-up? I seem to remember that it can be caused with display drivers, but I see nothing in the BIOS to change, and there are no problems reported with the display drivers in Device Manager. The laptop is super quick, other than this annoying delay during bootup. Any input appreciated!

Hi: See if unchecking the fast startup in the Power Options menu in the control panel resolves that problem. I have an old HP 6910p business notebook that I installed W10 on, and it would give me that black screen. My problem was that it would not get to the desktop at all. Unchecking fast startup resolved the problem for me. Boots right up, no delays, no black screen. Control Panel>System & Security>Power Options>Change What the Power Buttons Do>Uncheck Turn on Fast Startup.

Hello

Not sure where to begin.
I just want to run Office 2003 from my Satellite Pro. Had problems with the hardrive so I decided to format using the recovery discs.

Now when I start machine initially i get the following message: *Invalid boot.ini file. Booting from c:\windows.*
After about a minute the following message appears. *missing or corrupt system32.hal.dll file*.

Any ideas hows to resolve this please?

A:Satellite Pro 6100 - Invalid boot.ini file message while booting

Hi

Seems like the notebook cannot boot the Windows OS and that some important files are damage or are missing.
In your case I would try to reinstall the OS again.
Format the whole HDD and try again.

If the second installation does not help, then an HDD should be checked? maybe you would need a replacement.

The Satellite Pro 6100 stopped working after sitting for two weeks off charge. A new battery did nothing.

The LED that normally glows green when charging now glows amber, but also does so with 4 consecutive sets of one long and one short blink, followed by a pause, followed by another set of blinks, continuously.

Where do I find out what this diagnostic code (I assume) means?

A:Satellite Pro 6100 - Doesn't boot and shows a diagnostic code

Hi!

I think such diagnostic codes you can find in the technical manual but this is only available for authorized service providers.

But can you start the notebook without battery and AC/DC adaptor only?
Maybe you should try to remove the AC/DC adaptor and battery. Then wait one hour and connect both devices again. Now try to start the notebook.

If it doesn?t work I suggest that you should ask a notebook technician for help. It seems to be a hardware malfunction?

Hello,

I just swapped out my motherboard in anticipation for a new processor (one of the new AMD 8 Cores) but wasn't ready to buy the processor yet. I went with the GA-990FXA-UD3 Gigabyte Motherboard. Everything powers on fine but nothing happens with the post. I don't have any beeps or anything except that all fans are running. Everything turns on but I get no post beeps and of course no visuals on my monitor.

I have the AMD Phenom II x6 1090T processor. From what I can tell I don't have a BIOS problem with that. The MB is version 1.1 and I see that it ships with an F1 BIOS. The F1 BIOS is the initial release and this CPU is already supported in that. So as far as I know it's not that and it worked an hour ago with my other MB (ASUS M4A87TD EVO) perfectly.

I have tried using two different memory module brands. My old board used 16GB (4x4GB) Patriot Sector 5 PGV38G1333ELK DDR3 1333. I tried 2 of them in DIMM1 and DIMM3, nada. I tried just one in DIMM1, nada. I also tried (the memory I bought for this board) Corsair CML16GX3M4A1600C9B (4x4GB) kit. I tried all 4, DIMM1, DIMM3 and also just DIMM1 with no luck as well. The good news (I think) is that when I take out all memory and try to turn it on, I get 4 long beeps. I know the speaker is working. In the manual (and online) I can't figure out what 4 long beeps means. 1 long and 1 short is supposed to be a memory problem, and I'm not getting that with no memory installed. But at least I get beep... Read more

Hi

I bought a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UDS Motherboard, a PCI-E 3.0 video card and a Fatal1ty Sound Blaster PCI-E X1 sound card. Due to the heatsink of the M/B chipset I cannot install my sound card in the PCI-E X1 slot. My question is, Can I install the sound card in a PCI-E X16 slot without compromising it's safety and the bandwidth of the Video Card ?

A:Solved: GA-990FXA-UDS Motherboard

PCIs are universal slots, ie, any type of card (as long as its the correct PCI config) will work- sound, video, network, etc.

If you're not gaming you shouldn't notice a difference. If heat is an issue you might need additional fans or a slot fan between the video and sound card.

Hi, we've moved house recently and the movers seem to have knocked something in one of my PCs and it just refuses to turn on now.

After the move and plugging it in, it emitted long beeps with pauses, which according to the Gigabyte motherboard, means bad RAM. I swapped the RAM and it still didn't work. I unplugged everything, leaving only the RAM and video card plugged in and it powered on the fans and hard drive, but I still got the beeps.

I then removed the RAM and still got the beeps. Changed to a different slot and still got beeps. I tried a different power supply and still got beeps.

OK, so I swapped the motherboard for another one I had lying around that is *supposed* to be working. Now after I power this one on, I get NO beeps at all! This is with the RAM only, this new motherboard has onboard video.

I have tried swapping the CPUs as well. I bought a second hand AM2 processor. Other things:

- no numlock lights on a keyboard if plugged in
- I tried plugging in an enclosure open detection plug and still nothing!

AFAIK, I have plugged in the motherboard header connectors properly. Are they supposed to go in only one way? It seems that no matter which direction I try them in, the power still comes on? I tried the speaker plug in different directions as well, but still got no sound. Do I HAVE to plug in a set of speakers with this motherboard?

A:Gigabyte motherboard won't boot

ok, your psu seems to be the only thing you haven't swapped out.
the 24-pin thing is the main connector that supplies power to your mobo so it DEFINITELY IS NEEDED. However your mobo may only have a 20-pin port, so assuming your psu has a 20-pin and a 4-pin attachment to give you the 24-pin option (for newer boards) then you should connect it.
The knock could well have damaged the ram slots though.

UEFI should be updated because there is graphical software which is not in the manual (in manual book there is different screen than I have). The manual is very short and does not say anything how to install W7 Home Premium with this board.

You do not want to have anything on the drive, especially GRUB, to get the cleanest possible slate for install. So after booting from the installer be sure to delete all partitions during install, create and format New as desired, or just click Next to let the installer do it for you. Try entering Device Manager - Access During Windows 7 Installation to disable erroring drivers shown by a ! to see if install will complete so these can be updated from desktop.

I very much doubt its a keyboard problem. Are you sure all the motherboard mount line up correctly with the screw holes? One or more could be shorting on the back of the mobo. Another thing to check is the size of the heads of the screws, I've seen one mobo where a screw head shorted 2 ic pins out.

Hello peeps. Well, as the description says, my desktop is failing to boot from anything heh. Everytime it past bios into the bit where it gives me OS selection choice, it reboots itself.

I've tried taking out hard drives, all sata including DVD burner to no avail, then tested out my ram which also didn't show any difference.

I'm starting to think its my motherboard failure, south bridge or something, i can't remember what exactly controls the network NIC and USBs.

Why i think this is so is because lately after a long computer use, the NIC would stop working and i'd have to restart the computer. Also the usb keyboard and mouse would stop working and i'd have to unplug and re-plug them back in for that to happen.

Anyone can back me up on this?

Also, if busted, i'm thinking of changing out to an AMD 780GX or so (the DDR2 version) coupled with a Phenom II 920 or 940, even a 955 if i can. It might also be just a good enough option to replace the board with a P45 or so, since my Q6600 which USED to be clocked at 3.30 before it died on me.... was decent enough. Thoughts?

A:My Gigabyte BIOS won't change the boot order

My short answer here to this, is that it sounds like your BIOS needs a swift kick in the pants! Maybe the BIOS just needs a jump start, maybe to get things back on track. This is just a real quick little fix, if it works.

1. Remove the computer from power, unplug the power cord from the power supply.

2. Take the side panel off your computer case, exposing the guts of the machine.

3. Look for the motherboard, then look for a small shiny chrome colored battery.

4. Remove that chrome colored battery off the motherboard.

5. With the battery removed, take your hand and press the (power) button on the front of the case.

6. Keep that button depressed and or pushed for approx. 30 to 40 seconds, while your computer BIOS is drained of it's power and hopefully it's current setting.

7. Let off the (power) button, replace the chrome battery back onto the motherboard, replace the side panel of the case and reconnect the computer power cord to the back of the power supply.

Now turn on your computer and see if that helped take care of some things! Again, this is just one of those quick fixes that may or may not always work.

Hope this helps.

Problem: motherboard (Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P (rev. 3.3)) raid controllers are each recognising first HDD in respective 2-HDD raid array as having 'nonraid' configuration.

Both raid 2-HDD arrays have been running without problems FOR MORE THAN TWO YEARS. It is clear that all HDD's must still be in good condition. Read below: it must be only Gigabyte's controller that is mistaken.

Consistent problem behavior:
PC posts normally. Upon starting each raid controller, the first HDD is listed as nonraid configuration and the second is recognised as raid.

As the the Gigabyte raid array is the virtual BOOT disk, a disk read error occurs, the system fails to load and booting stops.

How it happened:
The system has been booting perfectly for two years. At POST, it always recognised NO HDDs (because they were all being handled by Raid controllers). After post, each raid controller would start and show each had two HDDs in a valid matrix (see configuration below).

However, in the past months the system would 'hang' when running some programs in Windows XP.

To try to fix this problem I inspected the BIOS settings over several weeks. I reset various BIOS values and the sytem continued rebooting after every change.

The hang problem persisted, so in BIOS I selected 'Fail safe defauls' in BIOS and rebooted.

Unfortunately, the 'Fail safe' configuration does not include RAID support, so at Post BIOS DID recognise the separate HDDs.

It should have advanced settings tab and you should be able to see a overclocking area when you enter that area you should be able to find the turbo and turn it off

I want to make my IDE the primary hard drive and SATA the secondary. By default windows selects the SATA but I have issues with partitions and I want to use the IDE instead.
In my advanced features bios I am given three boot devices to choose as I will, but if I want to boot from a hard drive it doesn't give me a choice so it selects primary device being the SATA.
The standard cmos features show the SATA on channel 0 master and i'm given three options - none, auto and manual. Nowhere do I see an option to change the IDE to primary. How do I do this?
I have a gigabyte ga-p35-ds3l mobo

A:Cannot change boot disc priority in Gigabyte BIOS

In the Advanced BIOS Features you have First boot device; Second boot device; Third boot device. Take a look at the item just above those: Hard Disk Boot Priority

Highlight it and press "Enter." You should see all your hard drives listed.

My computer won?t start and keeps going into an infinite boot loop, the error codes 15 c5 32 shows up and it stops at error 32 which is CPU PEI Initialization. The only way to temporarily fix this is if I remove the RAM then put it back, it sometimes then turns back on but if I turn it off it will go into the boot loop again. I have recently updated my BIOS to F8 version(the latest version) using the Gigabyte update app to try and fix this problem but that did not fix anything. I have been looking everywhere for this solution and I could not find a clear one that works for me. I never had this problem up until I put the Samsung SSD 960 Evo in and cloned it and then made it the boot drive, the SSD works fine but this boot loop doesn?t seem to go away. I built this computer and never had any problems until this boot loop.
I have tried using different sticks of RAM and the computer seems fine for a day but then the boot loop comes back.
If anyone knows a permanent fix for this boot loop problem it would be super helpful thanks.

CPU: i7-4790
12 GB of RAM ( 2 sticks of 4GB + a stick of 8GB)
F8 BIOS (latest one available)
PSU: RM850i Corsair

Edit: So I unplugged the computer for 10 minutes and left it be then tried again, and now it turned on again, I?m thinking the issue could possible the PSU (Corsair RM850i) but I?m not too sure.

I realise this is a very specific issue indeed, and also kind of a '1st world' issue... but I'd like to know what's causing my Gigabyte P57Xv7 laptop to boot twice, every time whenever my 4TB Seagate Backup Plus USB3.0 drive is connected to it. Here are the salient points:

The first boot doesn't even make it to the spinning Windows circle, it only gets to the initial Gigabyte screen, then after a few seconds it reboots.
It's not the same type of double boot that occurs whenever you first plug in a new USB device (which I assume is for the BIOS to enumerate the new device?) - those boots are much shorter than this one.
It only boots twice when the boot is from a shutdown state. Not when it's a Windows 10 restart.
However I doubt it's a Windows issue, as it happens even when I disable Windows Boot Manager in BIOS (which makes the laptop boot straight into BIOS instead of loading Windows 10)
I've tried various BIOS settings (like enabling/disabling USB Legacy Support)
I've also tried various Windows settings (like disabling Hibernation and playing with various Power settings)
The Seagate drive is not a boot drive, and there are no hidden/system files in the root directory. Its file system in NTFS.
The drive has passed all of Seagate's tests via its SeaTools program.
While I don't have an awful lot of other hardware to play with, I can tell you that 1) the Seagate does not cause another older laptop to do the same thing... Read more

The symptom:
All fans (case and CPU) will start spinning at power-on, CPU fan will spin at high-speed and then slow down over a period of about 3 seconds, system will not beep, displays nothing on screen, will not POST, enter BIOS or boot. Pressing the reset button does nothing. I have to hold the (case) power button down for 5 seconds to power-off or use the switch on back of PSU. If the case power button button, the system will sometimes restart by itself.

Specs:
Gigabyte H85M-HD3
Intel Haswell I5-4440 CPU (box)
Kingston 8Gb DDR1600 + Kingston 4Gb DDR1600
Gigabyte Green Power 550W PSU
Cooler Master K380 ATX Mid Tower

I bought a new motherboard, only to find that that did not fix the problem. I replaced the 4G RAM with an 8G DIMM, which also did not resolve the symptom. I've since noticed that unplugging 8-pin CPU power connector to the motherboard, letting it stand for a few minutes and then plugging it back in and powering-on will result in the PC booting normally once, with all subsequent starts failing again with the same symptom.

Is there a way to easily troubleshoot the PSU and CPU to isolate the problem ?

OK.. So, what would benefit me more? Two GIGABYTE GV-R927OC-2GD Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 Crossfired together OR one GIGABYTE GV-N770OC-4GD GeForce GTX 770 4GB 256-bit GDDR5. It's my first build and have been running one R9 270 OC GPU and I get 50-80fps on ultra.. The R9 card is 256bit 2GB DDR5 and the nvidia 770 is 256bit 4GB DDR5 (770 has higher MHz as well).. Which setup would yield a better image and higher fps?

--Side Question: If I would Crossfire there would be 1 PCI slot between the two cards on default cooling. Liquid cooling is only on the CPU with the H100i. Right now my current GPU doesn't go over 111F (44C), would the second GPU that close to the other cause a drastic increase in temps? Also the second GPU would be rather close to my PSU, but the PSU is upside down with its fan on the outside of the case so no additional heat from the PSU..

- 4GB G.Skill (will upgrade later)
- Cooler Master GX 550w
- Samsung LCD Monitor (1440x900 Native)

Here are 2 cards I would like you guys to choose from and why?

GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - ATI - PCI Express Solution - Radeon HD 7000 series - GV-R787OC-2GD
GIGABYTE - Graphics Card - NVIDIA - PCI Express Solution - GeForce 700 Series - GV-N760OC-2GD (rev. 2.0)

Also I know the GTX 760 is newer and has PhysX Support but it's costing $80 more than the HD7870 also my motherboard does not have SLI Support but it's CrossFireX Ready and I wanna play all new games at maxed out settings (if possible) and I have LCD that has a 1440x900 Native Res. There are chances that I might get 1080p Monitor in Q1 or Q2 next year. The 7870 is available for $280 and GTX 760 for $360 in my currency and country. These are the least prices I can found and now you have all the info please help me choose which one would be good for me in terms of Price, Performance and most of all Power Consumption as we have frequent black outs and my UPS has little backup time to turn things off especially when gaming while system is running at PEAK!

A:USB2.0 HD Transfer over Gigabyte Network to Gigabyte NAS

You're doing well. Large file transfers on my system via USB 2.0 are only about 24 MB/s. I did notice when I plugged my Seagate USB 2.0 external into my SIIG USB 3.0 card, sequential reads and writes were about 15% improved. I just plugged the USB 2.0 drive in while I was waiting for USB 3.0 docking stations.

If you have a free PCIExpress slot you may get some improvement plugging the USB 2.0 into the USB 3.0 card. But using SIIG USB 3.0 docks and WD caviar black internal drives I find the drives run at full speed. Only thing is now the price bubble is preventing me from increasing my stock of internal drives.

I got this machine 2 weeks ago with the GA-X79-UD3 (f9 bios). Since day 1 it has had a problem with sleep mode resuming to a unresponsive black screen that then proceeds to go into an endless power cycle that fails to post. The only way to stop it is a hard shut down with the power button. Sometimes the computer will resume from S3 properly, other times it will resume to black screen and loop. It is literally a 50-50 chance. And the timing it decides to fail S3 resume are totally random. Sometimes it will wake fine after an entire night of sleep other times it wont even sleep for 30 minutes without manually waking to a blank screen and reboot loop.

I have literally tinkered with EVERY imaginable setting in my Windows power options to try and fix this, nothing has worked. At all. I recently did a Energy-Report (with cmd) and it gave me 12 errors, 3 for USB devices and 7 errors for items listed in this picture which i have no clue what they actually are, even after researching them on google which provided little info.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. As of now my settings for idle are to never allow my computer to sleep and I just have it set to turn the display and hard drives off after a certain time, with the machine staying on. At night I shut it down to s5 (which i hate) but i have no other option really. I dont want it drawing fulll power for 10-12 hours of non-use. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the BIOS has possibly reset and your hard drive is not set as the default boot device.
F2 or DEL at power on should allow you to access the BIOS and reset the boot device, assuming this is the problem.

Without the actual Gigabyte motherboard model number, I can't give you specifics on how to set that. The manual that came with the motherboard has the information and the Gigabyte web site for the specific motherboard will also have the manual available.

I've recently installed a SATA 80gb Seagate disk & a 40gb Western Digital HD, suffice to say I messed up the xp install several times. In the end I had the OS spread across 2 drives (1 boot drive and 1 system drive) unintentionally. I've also installed a new Zalman cpu fan (heat temps 35c idle). Ever since then my machine takes at least 10 seconds from when I press the power button to when the BIOS actually beeps. It also takes ages to detect my HD's. I was originally running the F10 BIOS no probs until this incident. I reflashed to f4 and now when I boot the the xp complains that I have a "Missing or Corrupt c:\windows\system32\hal.dll" :dead: . I realise that this is pretty terminal. But when I used gigabytes dual bios thingy and booted from the backup (F2 revision) XP loads fine, but it still takes ages to initialise (ie beep) and the HD's still take ages to detect(sometimes not at all :knock: ) . It just seems generally flaky on boot. Anyone have any ideas? any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers

Hey everyone,

What is happening is that every time I boot my machine I get no display. On a restart it immediately picks it up. Additionally there is no display on wake from sleep.

I posted about this about a month ago and then sent in my card for RMA. They said they found no problems though. I'm pretty worried because my system runs two 4GB Windforce 770s in SLI with no problems. Some people have suggested swapping the DisplayPort cable but I don't see that doing anything.
Here are my system specs as best as I can give right now:
CPU: i5-3570 @ 3.40GHz OC'd to 4.0 GHz (note I made the OC change AFTER sending the card in)
Motherboard: ASrock Z77 Extreme4 BIOS P2.0
HDD: Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB
PSU: Corsair HX1000w

Things I have tried:
-Switching PCI-e slots
-Changing DisplayPort ports on the graphics card
-Upgrading to Windows 10 Anniversary
-Tried the three latest NVIDIA drivers
-Uninstalled the Xtreme Gaming Utility
-Confirming Fast Boot is turned OFF in BIOS

Any help would be appreciated. I'm feeling really stuck here. ... Read more

Hi, I offered my friend a hand to solve this strange problem with his serial ata port. It seems one of the Sata wont work properly, the hard drive has windows 8.1, with uefi bios available. The point is, after switching sata ports it boots from dvd by default, can I set to boot from hdd first,
? I tried a lot of times to set boot option #1 hdd
Boot option #2 to disabled but the system still boots from dvd, the next time I enter the bios appears by default dvd drive
I went to cd dvd boot option and set It to disable the drive
Then I went to hdd and set to default the hdd
I even disconnected and booted without the drive dvd
But there is not any changes. If I insert a boot capable disc into the drive, it boots from the dvd drive.
Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Hello, gigabyte motherboard after switching Sata cable would boot from dvd drive

Is the time and date correct?

This could be caused by one of these.

A connection problem between the motherboard and the hdd.

A problem with the operating system, like a problem with the MBR.  But you should receive an error message like boot device not found, or hdd not recognized.

A problem with the hdd.

Well the driver CD won't do anything for you, as the drivers on it are probably designed for XP (I'm assuming by the way you worded this that you upgraded to Vista from XP). The proper drivers for your graphics chipset are available on NVIDIA's website. http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
Go to this site and either select option 2 to have the site automatically try and find the proper drivers or select: Geforce, Geforce 6 Series, Windows Vista 32-bit, and English and click the search button. Use this driver, its the latest available.

Right now it says 640mb ram. My guess is the graphics controller is using the the other 128mb correct?
The reason I ask I am trying to figure out how to improve perfromance some but I dont need it to be perfect for what I am doing. Would ram at this point go further than a new graphics card?

Also is the pci express slot a slot for more ram in the current graphics controller?

A:What is a nvidia geforce 6100 gpu?

Your Geforce 6100 is an integrated video card. It uses system RAM for your video. The PCI Express slot is for a hardware video card, which uses its own video RAM, freeing up your system RAM for your own use. You should find an excellent increase in performance if you get a hardware card.
