Q: Application Crahses in IE 6.. (c0000005 - access violation Error)

I have got a serious problem running our web app in some machines.. machines installed IE 6 crahsed viewing particular page(even before page is started loading). But this works fine on all the machines installed IE 7 & IE 8.

I have created the crash dumb using the dr watson utility.. it logs the following error msg.
seems there is access violation happened in mshtml.dll.. but i dont know whether this is happened because of our page or some other thing.. can someone help me out to resplve this one..

if u go through the stack trace below, u could see this line

FAULT ->7dcb1227 f3a6 rep cmpsb ds:044ae560=00 es:00000000=??

this is where exactly the error happened.. but i dont know how to use this line to identify the actual problem... :(

Preferred Solution: Application Crahses in IE 6.. (c0000005 - access violation Error)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I posted my original message in the Office App board, but figured you all could probably provide a better solution/answer.

My original message is titled something like "Word Processing". Please check it for all details.

Basically, I just bought a new great laptop (2.4ghz, 512mb RAM, 40mb HD, etc). I installed MS Office 2000, and recently noticed that most of the aps are coming up with errors now for no reason. I get errors like (according to DrWatson logs):

App: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE (pid=160)
When: 12/11/2002 @ 19:46:22.091
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Full error report for the above is in a TXT file at:

An image of the error I see as it "crashes" is:

I have so far received this type of error in: MS Works, MS Word, MS Publisher, Wordpad, and some MS Photo viewer.

Any help to solve the problem is GREATLY appreciated. I will note however that the following MS Office 2000 apps have yet to have problems: Frontpage 2000, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and MS Powerpoint.

Thanks in advance for you help!

A:Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

I am also getting the same error message in Publisher. One file is ok but the new file I worked on today is stuffed. I can not open it at all and lost all my work.

Before anyone asks, I saved regularly but can not open the files at ALL.

Please help me someone as I can't remember what I wrote in my hour of inspiration for my new company marketing plan!

Hi, well there is an error (0*c0000005) which pops up every time i try to install a new app and also pop up on regular basis for a antivirus program i use. so i go through sfc scan to deal with this. sfc scan shows the
following result :  "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them."
so i go to the SFC details to check the corrupted files and i found multiple files which says:
1) cannot repair member file
2) could not reproject corrupted files
On the end of both these lines following text was written: "Hash mismatch"
what should i do now?
Somebody help please!

Hi I just recently (within the last week) starting getting a DAX Error that reads

Access Violation at address (insert 8 characters here) Write of Address (insert same 8 characters)

I would list the characters, but they are different for each Icon I use on the desktop or from teh start menu that sets off the error. Not all Icons produce such an error. I have run adaware SE, Panda Active Scan, Housecall, and Registry Mechanic, all found issues from viruses to non existing links and such and have been cleaned up, I then updated windows, and tried to update My Mcaffe (spelling?) but it won't update. I downloaded Hijack this and produced the following log:

A:DAX Error Access Violation

I was curious about the same kind of DAX Error...access violation.

I receive one regularly that is identified as "iolo" .....I use System Mechanic (an Iolo product) and did not allow it in my start-up configuration...did not want it to conflict with Zone Alarm, so set it to run only on demand.

The caveat: It still runs in the background and tries on occasion to run....therefore, the error notification. I should have allowed it to be part of the start up and then disabled it in Win Patrol. It would then run only when I access the program.

In my case, the DAX Error is my failure to properly install/reinstall a program.

Hope this helps.

I am getting an 'Access Violation' message when I try to install some programs.

It does not happen with all programs just some.

I tried installing UseNeXT but it will not install all the way.

Other programs that I have tried to install are:

FireFox Optimizer, nvt_windows_securer_setup, nvtprivacy_cleaner_setup,
nvt_rogue_software_remover_setup, and my vpn client.
I hope this info helps you.

Thank you.

Does this happen after windows is loaded , and comes up in a box on the screen with an OK , Cancel box, if so it sounds like possible spyware, a program is trying to run and can't, hence the error.

If this is the case then Howard Hopkinso, a senior mod has advice found here, please read the page thoroughly before posting.

You can also run msconfig from Start > Run , on the last tab is the programs that start at startup, go through and untick any that don't seem to relate to anything you have installed. if this clears the problem, then post the offending name of the program here and we'll try to tell you what it is and how to get rid of it.

Hi, all,

When trying to run some hidden object games I get an error when I try to pick up the first found object "Access violation at 0x6900D98F (tried to read from 0x03ECE904), program terminated". The Windows event viewer indicates that service Windows Image Acquisition terminated unexpectedly. I'm hoping to get some guidance here on how to solve this. I can get the game to run in Safe Mode, so presumably there is a service running that is interfering somehow? Another recently acquired, but old game (Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time) runs excruciatingly slowly. Granted my computer is old, but not as old as that game.

Running XP SP3, ASUS A7N8X-VM/400 mobo with AMD Athlon XP 2500+ cpu and 1279 MB RAM and a e-GeForce 6200 gpu. Online Armor firewall and A-squared anti-malware.

Any suggestions to track this down?

Hi - I'm getting an error nessage pretty much every time I move from one screen to the next in Internet Explorer, or cick on a link in an e-mail. The message says "Access violation at address 0511CD3C in module 'MYIEMO~1.DLL'. Read of address 00000040." The tab for the error message on my task bar reads "DAX error". I can't be sure that the codes are always the same in the error messages, but the recent ones have been, and it doesn't seem to matter what website I have open when I try to move to another, or which website/screen I am trying to move to. Not sure if this will help others or help you, to help me.

I loaded a game (Crossword Genius) yesterday which came with the following Installation instructions for loading the program under Windows Vista.
The instructions work perfectly for the game and I can play the game (Crossword Genius) with or without User Account Control being on or off.

So I thought if I deleted the Acer Game Zone game "Jewel Match", a game I have been having problems with and then reloaded it and followed the same installation instructions then it might solve my problem.

I am getting the following error message when playing Jewel Match: Error Access violation at 0x004E669A (tried to read from 0x00000048, program terminated.
I found that having the User Control Off, then the game plays perfectly. With the User Control On, then the game freezes and the only way I can move on is to close using task manager. So with this particular game I can only play it with User Control Off.

Now I really need to have User Control ON as this is security element for my Acer Aspire 6930. "User Account Control (UAC) can help you prevent unauthorized changes to your computer".

So is there some other way that anyone knows of that can resolve this issue. Game Zone and Acer cant seem to help me.

The instructions are as follows:

I have a winxp pro computer that keeps popping up error boxes. Blue title bar is "windll" error is "Access violation at address 05683ac in module windll.exe. Read of address 00000158". The computer is running a bit slower than normal but no other issues. I've searched various parts of the error and do not find anything that matches exactly. I do not see overt signs it's infected with malware - no random internet windows, no "your system is infected, go to this site, etc, etc, etc", no redirection when on the internet.

I haven't done much trouble shooting on it other than searching the error hoping something would pop up. My next steps are to do a virus & malware scans and windows update.

Any other help would be appreciated.

What memory tests were you using? How many passes did you run? Understand the memory test that comes with Windows is not very reliable. Memtest86+ is a much better alternative. At least 7 passes should be run to consider it a thorough test.

Can you provide us a JCGriff report so we can get details on your system? Thanks.

I have all the rights for the system and system is connected to the office LAN.

How to come out from this pitfall ?

Thanks in advance.

Install those tools in Compatibility Mode

Be aware that obsolete software might not work with Windows 7

If Compatibility Mode doesn't work try XP-Mode

A:Access Violation Error Message

That can be hard to say. I would first say programming problem. To reinstall the program. But before you do that, maybe you could clear your swap file and then delete all your temps.

To turn off swap:
Right-click My Computer - Properties. Advanced Tab. Performace settings. Advanced. Vitual memory "change" button. Set to "No paging file", click Set, then OK. Restart the computer.

Easy way to delete temps, download Crap Cleaner from www.ccleaner.com.

If that doesn't do it, run memtest86 on your memory for a couple hours to see if any errors developed.

Otherwise, you'll have to at least try to reinstall the program.

When finished, set your swap file back ON and use "Custom size". Set both the min and max to 1024 and click Set. You didn't post how much RAM you have, but a gig swap is not to shabby. Otherwise I've heard it said to set the swap to whatever it takes to give you 2gb of total space. RAM + Swap = 2048.
good luck. Oh, and I might mention, it would be a very good time to do a defrag when you've got the swap file off.

Good luck

Hi, Tech Support People:

Hope your Holidays were wonderful. The other day I downloaded a game from BigFishGames, and when I tried to open it, I got the following message: "Error: Access Violation at 0x004DF1A4 (tried to read from 0x00000004), program terminated." I went to the BigFish games forum site and noticed that quite a few people were experiencing the same problem with this game, but no solution was offered. I've also written to BigFish tech support but haven't heard back from them yet. I am using Windows XP. I checked out numerous pages on this site relating to Access Violation issues and learned that there sure are a lot of different kinds of errors! But I couldn't find any messages pertaining to my specific error. What can I do about this problem? Thank you for any suggestions.

Hello and welcome MBMB mate try a sfc and chkdsk first see if the system is up to scratch and then if that comes back ok well I suppose you could scan the software disk for malware or just get back to the manufacturers re the problem it may be incompatible with Windows??

Get the Malwarebytes and when up and running set it to scan the D: drive with that disk in.

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

Disk Check

Malwarebytes : Malwarebytes Anti-Malware removes malware including viruses, spyware, worms and trojans, plus it protects your computer < watch out for the trial tick box untick it or it will annoy the heck out of you.

I realize this is not the thread for gaming, but my post is more concerned with the type of error that is occurring with my game. I am trying to play Civilization V (latest expansion pack), and everything worked fine for about two months (all on Windows 10) until literally the New Year. Now, at various times when loading the game (sometimes before it launches, and sometimes when it is trying to load a particular save), the game suddenly crashes. Windows says that the game has stopped working properly and that Windows would notify me if a solution is available. When I go into the Event Viewer, it seems that it is a problem with the game's .exe file, and the error code is 0XC0000005. Everything that I've read says that this is an "Access Violation" and that it sometimes has to do with RAM.

Does anyone on here know anything about this type of error? Is it a problem with the game or with Windows 10? I have reinstalled the game, updated Windows, updated my graphics card drivers... nothing seems to fix the issue (though the game rather mysteriously runs fine on my Windows 10 laptop). I am just looking for any input on what might be the culprit for this issue.

Hello, all.

My girlfriend's computer is getting BSODs when she shuts down applications related to her work as a medical transcriptionist (Webtop, ExpressScribe, etc.), all of which use an Infinity pedal. I don't know if it's the applications, the Windows pedal driver, or something else, because I cannot find any of the error codes on any site, including Technet and random Google searches of the individual components (only the first two elements are searchable). Here is the STOP error:

0x0000007e 0xc0000005 0x863c6b1b 0xbad07a38 0xbad07734

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

A:XP 'stop' error, memory access violation

This may be hardware or software, easy way to verify. Boot the PC with your Ubuntu CD in Live mode.
If you reach the Gnome desktop, then you know that the CDrom, graphics card, memory and display are ok. You need to then mount the windows partition and check for error messages in dmesg
If none are present , I'd reboot into window and run a scandisk.

If you dont reach the desktop then I would suspect the RAM. You can run the memcheck option from the live Ubuntu prompt.

Sometimes BSoD can be caused by bad memory or overheating.
I'd take the PC case off, give it a hoover especially around gan and air vents,
or use one of the computer air spray dusters.

Then using anti static wrist strap I'd remove and re-insert the memory modules, sometimes, over time they can work loose (not in all models) and
removing and re-inserting can often help. When the memory modules are unplugged, visually inspect the gold contacts, they should be clean and no fingerprints, often a problem with bad memoy is nothing more than being mis-handled- HTH

I've owned and used System Mechanic for about two years now, and I love the program. When I tried to run it last week, however, I noticed that I was getting 2 error messages that prevented the program from starting. The first one says:

"An invalid character was found in text content. Line: 6. Freed 488 kb of temporary wind."

When I click ok to this error, another one pops up, which says:

"Access violation at address 13546A78 in module 'SysMech.exe'. Read of address 00000078".

After I click ok to this, the loading bar for System Mechanic continues to move, but the program never loads.

Can anybody think of what might be wrong? I have not made any changes to my computer in the past week I have already tried uninstalling the program completely and then re-downloading it. I tried a system restore, which also didn't solve the issue.

Oh, and if you know of a solution, please explain how to do it with human words? I'm not really a computer expert, so please tell me each step in a way that I can do/find it. Thanks!

Hello SevenForums community,

After hours of researching through Google, I could not find a solution for my constant problem that has been happening for the past month and so. Every night, this error would pop up while I'm watching a video, editing a video, on Skype, etc. I have updated all of my drivers (or, at least that what Windows and Gateway say), and rebooting several times. Can someone help me with this problem?

Can you post any relevant event logs so we can see any relevant error messages?. It appears from researching it via google; that it is pointing to one or more programs; and im thinking its one that did not originally come with windows and that would be skype. So; try uninstalling skype completely, rebooting, reinstalling it and report back and we can go from there if the issue is not solved.
