I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: internet not working on lan but working with wireless card?

I would suggest connecting with your wireless card and going to windows update and seeing if you have all the updates for your operating system. Look in the Optional updates for hardware drivers that may fix the yellow exclamation marks, as they may be the problem. If the yellow marks don't go away, google that problem "how to get rid of yellow exclamation marks in Device manager".
You may want to disconnect your wireless card, plug in your ethernet cable, and then power cycle your modem, router, and computer. Turn them all off, then power each of them up, waiting a minute between each one. Start with your modem, then your router, then your computer. Post your results.

Hi everyone,
I'm currently on my laptop and needed some help with my desktops internet. I recently installed windows 7 professional 64 bit and had been using an Ethernet cable to connect to the internet in my dorm. Now I'm at home for winter break and my wireless card isn't working. Windows 7 says that no wireless devices are enabled. Is there a way I can turn back on my device? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the device on my mother board but that didnt help because that was for the ethernet and not for the wireless card. thanks.

If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to paste the results into something like notepad and then copy onto a machine that can access the internet and post the results in a reply here.
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and paste here.

We would like to see the results from an ipconfig /all - post back the results in a reply here.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD then press Enter to open a command prompt box
(A new dialogue box - black with white font, will appear on screen ):

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

ipconfig /all > network.txt & network.txt

It will export the results into notepad and then automatically open the notepad and display on your screen.

Hi,

I have a linksys model wrt54gl v1.1 and I am using Windows Vista 32bit Home Edition. I have a pc connected to the router directly through an ethernet plus a laptop, 2 iphones and a blackberry that get wireless internet from it. 2 days ago wireless stopped working. The internet on the pc connected to the router by ethernet is still working and the power, WLAN, ethernet, and internet lights are all lit green. The internet and ethernet lights flash when data is being transferred but the the WLAN light is not flashing. I have restored the router to factory default but it is still not working. The phones and laptop are not detecting any wireless network present. Hope you can help.

The only other thing to try is to unplug the router for a few hours. You could also try another factory reset.

So yesterday the whole apartment I live in got a total internetblock. Nobody could do anything on the internet for the whole day, it said something bout my network cards (I am swedish so I don't know what everything is called in english) didn't work. So I use an internet cable, but it seems like that one doesn't work either, as I keep getting disconnected from the Internet randomly, it's incredibly annoying.

Hi people,

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium.
My wireless connection has been working on and off for a while, but now it just refuses
to work.
The other computers in the wireless network are working just fine, so it must be definitely something in my laptop.

I can detect the network just fine, with good signal.
It says:

Media State: Enabled
IPv4 Connectivity: No internet access
IPv6 Connectivity: No internet access

Also, in the activity there are Bytes sent and received, but I cannot connect to any webpage either with Chrome of Firefox

I'm using McAfee Security Center. I tried turning off the firewall, but it still doesn't work.

Please let me know what I can try.
Thanks!

Hi. I recenly purchased a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP. I connect to the internet using a Linksys Wireless-G (model WMP54GS). That works just fine. However, I got a new video card, a GeForce FX 5500 and when it's installed the wirless card doesn't really work. It struggles to find the network. If it does find it it generally won't connect. Once in a while I can get it to connect but that's not very common. Once I remove the video card the network works fine. I've tried installing a variety of drivers for both PCI cards. I've tried moving the cards to different slots and the results are always the same. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Thanks,
Matt

how is the power supply? Maybe adding the video card reduces the power enough to cause the nic to drop.

I purchased a Dell 600 Inspirion January 2004 with XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 along with an Intel (R) Pro/Wireless 2200 BG Network Connection (card with driver version 9.0.0.61. I have dial up at home but usually use my wireless card to access the Internet. There are several neighbors that have unsecured networks nearby with good connections (2 or 3 bars out of 5). For some reason, my wireless card does not work. When I click on it to connect, it states that "No wireless networks can be found or within range". I know that is not true because there are at least five or six unsecured and three to four secured at all times. I went to my Internet connections, clicked on wireless connections, clicked on properties and went through their suggested steps. I was able to determine that my driver is fine (it appears and is checked). When I clicked on the next suggested step by clicking on the troubleshooting box, the hour glass would appear for twenty seconds and disappear. I did not see any pop up screen to appear. I ran Norton to see if there were any viruses on my laptop and there were not. Any suggestions? PS I even did a system restore prior to the troubleshooting and it did nothing.

So I just bought this like a year ago and it worked fine on my other XP desktop but I had to use it on another computer because ethernet wouldn't work anymore. Originally this desktop had Windows 7 beta, then I formatted to Windows 7 RC, then I deleted all partitions to wipe any data, created a new partition and went ahead and installed Windows XP (because the other computer had XP so I figured maybe it was the operating systems problem), it still cannot detect the PCI card. Well I think it detects it because it notices there is some sort of peripheral but it doesn't know it's a wireless adapter.

Down in the task bar it's got the icon but says "Doesn't Exist".

I have an HP Pavilion dv2000. I have tried everything. I did the ipconfig test and the wireless card doesn't show up on anything. The network config does not pick up any wireless card. It was working fine. The internet is working. I even tried an external wireless card and that works too. the only thing that isn't working is the internal wireless card. It's like it doesn't exist. I opened it up and took the card out and put it back in...nothing. I did a factory reset...nothing. I was told an option would be to buy a new wireless card that is identical to the one that my HP. If I buy a new one I'm assuming it would have to be identical...

1) Is there a preferred website to buy wireless cards from? A lot of websites have them online
2) What is a reasonable price to pay? I saw 25 -30 bucks
3) Do you need to do anything to the computer after you put in a new wireless card?
4) Anything else that maybe I haven't thought of.

Thanks for your help.

Just replaced my 3 com adsl wireless modem (3crwdr100-72) as it kept dropping its wireless connection and had poor range.
Exchanged for a Linksys wireless G adsl modem (wgkpc354g-uk) with card.
The modem works fine and the wireless works fine with my old 3 com 11g card (3crwe154g72) - although the range is still poor. But i cannot get the new linksys wireless g card to work.
I try to install the software but it just hangs, there are 3 beeps on inserting the card and only 2 in quick succession when i insert the old card.
Rang linksys and they eventually came to the conclusion that the card may be faulty. Replaced card and modem and the problem is the same.
Is my laptop incompatible with the new card? Dell inspiron celeron 1100 2yrs old?
Cant get the new card to configure underWindows XP (sp2) either
Thanks in anticipation

So I had to put my desktop to wireless because I can't use an ethernet and the wireless PCI card isn't being detected properly. This card is fairly old and on the very inexpensive side. This wireless PCI card worked fine on my 6 year old Windows P.C. machine now it's on a 1 year old Windows 7 machine and the computer detects something being plugged in but doesn't know what it is. I tried download the drivers for this card on another computer and transfer them over and install them but it couldn't detect anything so it was able to continue.

Hello again,
I am back and this HP pavillion dv6000 laptop wirelees card is still giving me problems. I have actually found out the motherboards are bad in this certain laptop that cause the wireless card not to work, so what I am wondering is that it has a smartcard reader and can I find a wireless adapter to put in it so I have a wireless laptop again? I do not really want to send the laptop in so I figure a shortcut would be to stick an adapter in the smartcard reader for a wireless connection.

My BIOS is detecting CD Rom and floppy but when you insert something into it, windows says "Insert CD". The green light on the CD ROM just flashes.

I am in alot of trouble as I cannot reinstall Windows because my CD ROM or floppy do not work.

Can anyone offer any advice?

Much appreciated,

I'm about at the end of my rope here. I've been having issues with this, for lack of a better term, piece of garbage, for the past 4 months since I got the thing.

It's a Linksys WMP54G wireless PCI card, version 4.1
I installed it in my brand new custom desktop.

I was having problems with the drivers, but I finally seemed to solve that problem and now it always detects networks. However, even when I am "connected" web sites don't load. It will occasionally display a triangle with an exclamation, stating that there is "limited access" when there is obviously none.

I am thinking of throwing this "piece of s***" out and getting an MSI PC60G (my Mobo is also an MSI brand so maybe this will be a good idea). It's not worth the headaches to continue dealing with this crap.

If it helps, I am on the third floor in the back; the router is on the first floor middle. When connected I get 2-3 bars.

Please let me know what you think could be causing this. I am running Windows 7 32 bit Professional Edition.

Is this your router or someone elses?
Is it secured?
Do you have permission to connect?

Also have you checked to see that the antenna isn't obstructed?

I need to know how to run both, so I can run the wifi card for IE when needed/wanted, and then switch back to DSL when done with. (if it's possible)

OK, so I have snatched a wireless card from an old computer and placed it into my own, installed the drivers, and it isn't working. I downloaded them from Linksys' site and installed them per instructions. It either doesn't connect at all, or gets to saying "acquiring network address" and goes no further. It also doesn't appear to be detecting either our wireless network, or our neighbors'. Other laptops are having no problem connecting to the router (which we just got back from an RMA a week ago), and are seeing other networks than ours. Afternoon All

Hopefully someone can help me, seemingly out of the blue my desktop PC would not connect to the internet, wireless icon on bottom right of desktop has a red cross next to grey signal bars and it says 'not connected - no connections are available;.

I have a 802.11n Wireless LAN card which is showing in the device manager, it is enabled, the blue wireless light on the front of the desktop tower is on, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver software, I have done a system restore (3 times on different restore points), run the pc in safe mode, everything but it still doesn't work, windows is telling me the device is working correctly.

I thought it must be a dodgy card so I have just purchased a netgear wireless adapter in the hope that would work, it installs the software and then says to plug in the adapter and when I do and follow the installation wizard it says the adapter is not found. I have ensured the wireless card is disabled prior to doing this as I thought it may have interfered but still nothing.

I then thought maybe its my virus software (BitDefender) so I have just uninstalled it completely but still no joy.

I can't work out what is wrong please can someone help?

Many Thanks

I just installed windows 7, was a completely fresh installation. I wiped the harddrive, installed the OS and for the most part it went well. I did run into one issue. All drivers installed correctly except the one for my wireless card. In device manager it shows up as properly installed (no yellow triangles). I've already tried a manual install of the driver downloaded directly from toshiba. I've tried windows xp and vista drivers for the same card to see if they would work, but to no avail.

The wireless card is an Atheros AR5007EG
My system information is as follows:

Manufacterer: Toshiba
Model: Satellite L305-S5875
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual T2390 @1.86, 1.87 GHz
Memory: 3.0 GB
Hard Disk: 200 GB

*note: my ethernet connection does work. I've tried the windows troubleshooter for my wireless card, but it didn't really help. I've also uninstalled the driver for the wireless card and restarted multiple times to let windows re-install it, but my wireless internet still doesn't work. It displays "no connections available" but my card is enabled with full bars, and appears to be functioning properly. Any ideas?

A:Atheros Wireless Card Not Working!

Other than the fact that my processor is AMD, I have the same system and the Atheros 5700EG. I can connect, but I cannot automatically reconnect. Each time I turn on the machine or I logon, I must reconnect manually. What a pain. What is your driver version?

I suspect that there may be a driver problem and that it is worse in your case. Rarely, but it does happen, my first attempt at connection fails as you described, but repeated retries seems to be successful. I noticed that instead of left clicking and trying to connect, right clicking and going to the full network center for connection works almost flawlessly.

The problem seems to be that Windows can't load the drivers for my 802.11n wireless LAN card. I tried updating drivers but it said the driver was up to date. I tried changing manually but the only two listed were the same and when I clicked one, it said Windows was unable to load.

Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to Seven Forums,

If your computer was trouble free, have you tried a System Restore and restore to a point when your Wi-Fi was working?

Boot to Safe Mode with Networking by restarting your computer, tapping F8 then selecting this option, disable your AV or Security software. Locate Device Manager, uninstall all the drivers with the ! symbol, restart your computer and let your Windows auto detect and reinstall all the drivers. See if this helps.

i have an issue with my broadcom wireless card in my laptop...

since just 8 days ago i currently have this problem of my card losing connection to my router.

a description of what it does when it loses connection, i could be surfing the web and then i notice the web pages start to slow down when its loading content then later to the point where it stops transferring all together then i get the "server not found" error; on the other machines i don't get this problem. The only time the card will start back working as it should is when i re-boot the laptop.

so is it possible that my wireless card is wearing out?

info on my laptop:
Compaq Presario V5000
Windows XP Pro (SP3)
2GB of RAM
AMD Sempron 3300+ (2 GHz)
Time period owned: April 2007 - present (got it brand new)

Do you have a utility that handles the wireless connection? If so, I'd get rid of it. Windows has always done a better job, I've had a lot of these machines, they are great!

A:My Wireless card Said Enabled but isn't working

I have found that some older cards (even 2 years old) do not work well with x64 installs....you could test with an x86 machine if you have one available. I had to purchase a new card due to x64 (the card does work with an x86 install however) and got a decent card for about $14 (Sabrent Wireless-G 802.11G PCI Adapter) from TigerDirect.

B/G card: Sabrent PCI-G802 PCI Wireless Card - 54Mbps, 802.11g, Windows/Mac/Linux Compatible at TigerDirect.com

N/B/G card: Sabrent 802.11n Wireless PCI Controller Card - 802.11n/g/b, 300Mbps, 40/64/128-bit WEP encryption at TigerDirect.com

Hi

I'm having problems with my wireless networkcard. Sometimes i can connect to the Internet with it but at other times, I am simply unable to connect. Windows detects that there is a problem between my computer, the router, and the Internet. There are five other devices in my house that are able to connect flawlessly. I am currently only able to connect using a wi-fi adapter but this soultuion is awkward as i have only two available USB ports.

Can anyone help me?
I will post more details about the network card when I can.

A:Wireless Network Card Not Working

It sounds like you may be having problems with the driver, go to the website of the cards manufacturer and check and see if there are any updates for the drivers. The drivers should be under the support or downloads section if they are anything like the other manufacturer websites I have seen.

I recently bought a new Dell Inspiron 7600 pc running on windows 7 home premium and to enable access to our wireless internet I installed a Realtek 8185 wireless pci adaptor. It has worked fine (although not without the occasional blip) but recently it has stopped working.

I could connect to our wireless network but connection came with a small exclamation mark on the wireless connection icon in the system tray. I tried reinstalling the most up to date drivers I could find on the realtek download website and this has removed the problem of the exclamation mark with the wireless connection claiming it now has internet access. However the internet is now so slow (vastly slower than before these problems began) I get timed out errors whenever I try to access any web pages. I have ruled out the router being an issue as my two housemates' computers are working just fine.

Does anybody know what is causing this or has anyone experienced the same thing? Any help would be much appreciated.

Make sure you have the new drivers. I couldn't get it to work and did some research and even though I bought this PCI card yesterday it it came with the original software I went to the website downloaded the current drivers which were for Vista its a wonder it worked so far as it was an XP driver.

I will post if it works, as I just downloaded it.

Hey

Try going to belkin's website and downloading the driver for the adaptor, and installing that driver to the hardware. Could be that the hardware has had a driver update that hasn't quite worked...

Shout if you need a walk thru on how to do this.

My Linksys wireless notebook card isnt working... I installed the software first, like it said, but I cant activate it. The device manager says its working properly. The power LED lights up, but the link light isnt. I cant add a new network, edit the current one, or do anything with the linksys software that came with it. Since it is running under Windows ME, there is no wireless configuration, like there is on XP (ignore the specs in my signature, this is a different PC).

Hi, I have just got an EZCast home multimedia wireless sharing device. It works great from my acer laptop and from my android phone. HTC one! My problem is that it works as an access point so both my phone and my laptop need to connect as clients. when I do this I have no connection to the internet anymore.
I have a great deal with my telecoms provider in Ireland and get umlimited BB over G4 so I use the HTC either in wifi hotspot mode or Bluetooth PAN to connect to the internet on my laptop (and wireless printer).
Either way when I connect to the EZCast access point I have no internet. The phone sees a wireless network and shuts down my mobile data connection and my laptop can only connect to one wireless point at a time. When I do bluetooth tethering and I am connected to the EZCast AP, I can still see that I am connected to the BT PAN but I have no adapter to connect it to so no internet. I tried to bridge the PAN and the WIFI but forums are telling me that you can't do this with Windows 7 anymore. I have noticed that there is a virtual miniport in Windows and I was wondering would it be possible to use this. I know I could buy a USB Wifi dongle and that would be it but it must be possible some other other way. The networks don't havce to talk to eachother. I need to get internet on the laptop and then at the same time be able to connect to my TV via the EZast Wifi. Hope someone can help. It's my first post her so hope I have given enough info.

Hello and welcome Eamonn now I am a tad confused with your rather involved post mate. Now could you simplify it a little to what works with what and what you are actually wanting it to do.

Now I have to ask I assume you have updated all drivers for all the devices??

There is a really good networking member here if I cannot help you out but I will try first.

I recently downgraded to Windows XP on my Toshiba Satellite laptop, and while the computer is running miles better than it did on Vista, certain drivers such as my wireless card and sound do not work. I'm assuming they were probably deleted when I wiped my hard drive and installed xp. However, I am not clear on how to go about making them work again. The inability to use wireless is a particulary big pain in the butt. Any suggestions?

Hi! I have a problem with my notebook Lenovo Z50-70 type 80E7. Bought in Estonia (Europe). The problem is that wifi does not work properly. When I boot up my notebook it cannot find any wireless networks, but they are there. All the other devices can find them and connect. When I put my notebook to sleep (close the lid) and wake it from sleep it then can find all available networks and is able to connect to them and works fine. And it is like that every time I boot my laptop. I reinstalled windows (windows 7) and installed all the drivers and installed right  version of Energy Management. Turned wifi on by pressing F7. I have it running on background and something called utility.exe is running also. I read it is needed for this too. But it is still doing the same thing. Could it be failing wifi card or maybe some settings in windows or in my router? Because I used this laptop in my other home for a day after windows installation and it worked fine, but when I got back to my first home it was acting up in the same way again. Every other device in my home works on the same wifi very well. We have 2 smartphones, 1 tablet and 1 Acer laptop and no problems with them. Only my laptop needs go to sleep and wake from it in order to use wifi. And the fact is that my laptop worked on the same wifi before it started doing this just fine. And another question. I ordered new wireless card hoping it would work better and have 5GHz wifi support. The card is:35020606NBC LV ... Read more

My wireless card in my laptop (ASUS u46s) suddenly stop working randomly,
It randomly run smoothly or stop working completely. Yesterday I was running fine all day without any problem. Today it stopped to work after 5 minutes.

I tried to restore my computer, uninstall wireless driver in the devices manager but it just refuse to work.
And sometime my laptop can not event detect the wireless card (I scanned for hardware changes after remove the wireless card driver in devices manager but nothing show up until I restart the machine)

It's ,however, functioning without any issues when I boot in Ubuntu (so far at least ).

This not the first time this laptop has such issues. Last year the wireless card malfunctioned (in both windows 7 and Ubuntu) so I had to buy a new mini pci wireless card (intel N6300 AGN) and it had been working really well until 3 days ago.

I am unsure if this is another hardware problem or just a case of bad driver.

This is before I uninstall the driver

the wireless card not show up after that although I had scanned for hardware change.

A:wireless card stop working randomly

Hello and welcome bigday mate sounds like you have another bad card my friend. It might be just a matter of taking it out and putting it straight back in - just a dodgy connection perhaps?

There seems to be quite a list of wifi adaptors there when the Asus site lists only the Intel one in the specs so to check just what there is in the machine you can try this

Using HW Info general components

Download HW Info andpick the right bit version - HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download -(copy and paste this site into the search bar) If you do not need the runninginformation in the smaller right hand panel close it. In the left hand windowclick on the + for the individual device groupings and they will open out tothe various components.

Go on opening out furtheruntil you get to the device itself. click on it and it will highlight. In theright hand window there will be a very detailed description of that device asin brand, speeds model number etc etc These are very detailed and are just whatis needed for searching for drivers etc.

See my pic for anexample - in this I have opened out one my components and then highlighted one of the one you need andyou can see the detail.
The pic is of what is in my network adaptors yours might look different.

Hello. Well, a couple weeks ago my wireless started acting buggy. It wouldn't work, but if I restarted my laptop it would usually start again. Now it's not working at all. I've tried reinstalling the drivers with the disc that came with my computer and downloading the drivers from the dell website. The device does show up in my device manager. I've tried deleting it, so it reinstalls, didn't work. It is enabled in BIOS. I have tried the little wireless switch and the hotkey.

Shut off my laptop this morning as I was going from home to work, turned it on when I got there and it wouldn't register that it was there. I have an indicator light next to a switch that is orange when its disabled (switch to the left) and blue when its enabled (to the right). Well, my switch says its enabled, the indicator light however is orange. So, went to device manager, nothing, doesn't show that I have a wireless card. I tried system restore because Windows 7 has already given me problems with my graphics where I've had to system restore, but it didnt work. Tried uninstalling my driver for it, didn't work. My laptop eventually ended up freezing a little while later, so I did a hard reset, loaded it back up, it froze on startup (again), so I repeated the process, and then my wireless card reinstalled itself and it worked. HOWEVER, I shut my laptop off again, and I'm back to where I was this morning, no wireless internet. Anyone have a fix, or is my assumption that my wireless card is fried correct?
