I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Whenever the PC "GROTTO_2" is started and the router becomes available,
it generates FALSE internet traffic (Up and Downloads).
It is immaterial whether the router is connected to the ADSL line or not.
This traffic is visible on the "BANDWIDTH METER PRO" graph, of which I've made a composite screen dump,
of which I show a small portion:

This traffic goes on for approximately 30 minutes and then starts to taper off.
I will appreciate all help to get rid of this problem and any other caused by a presumed hacking of GROTTO_2.

Hi, on my Vista laptop, I have recently received a rootkit through a fake flash player update. Not only do I get redirects whenever the internet decides to work, but also the flash updater window has appeared on occasion and begun to install more things without permission. Of course, I have cancelled those false windows and attempted to uninstall flash altogether. Now I am just getting redirects/slow internet and need some help removing it because I am personally a malware noob. The main redirect is something along the lines of delivery.jemacpvAlso note I must complete everything from a flash drive at the moment because none of the updates or downloads are working on the infected computer. Here is a DDS log from safe mode with networking. The attached GMER log had to be done in safe mode with networking, and it successfully completed on a second attempt. The first attempt in safe mode it blue screened and shut down. THE GMER log was too big to attach. Want me to host it some other way? This post is from an non-infected computer. For those having trouble with Flash Auto-Update, Adobe has just released version 11.5.502.146.

If you'd like Adobe's Flash Player to be updated the minute a new version is released, for security and stability reasons, try the Alternative Flash Player Auto-Updater.

Adobe appears to have released a Flash player update. Here's the full version download link: Download Flash player 11.2.202.233Or you can download the helper version from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The difference between the two is that with the latter, you'll only be downloading a helper file which when run, will perform the update over the Internet. The full version can be installed locally offline. If you didn't disable the auto-updater which is a new feature in version 11.2.202.228, you should have received the latest version automatically already. To check, hit CTRL+SHIFT+A in Firefox to get the "Add-ons" menu and then open the "Plugins" submenu. Or in IE, go to "Tools" | "Manage Add-ons" and set the left hand dropdown menu to "Run without permission". There doesn't appear to be a Adobe security bulletin for the latest version, so you might want to postpone updating until more details emerge.

Note that even if you disable auto-update when installing or in the contol panel applet, the new player adds an autostart in services.msc (Manual) & adds a scheduled task...I took the above screenshot before I selected "Never check..." After deleting the scheduled task using Autoruns, after reboot it's back.... ETA: After another reboot, it's gone. Now I'm really corn-fused.

I keep getting pop ups telling me that Flash Player needs updating. I do not click on them and instead I go into control panel and check for updates from there. I still cannot get it to update and when I click on the go to download center, it sends me to the regular site. See link. I know there are phony pop ups is why I always update thru control panel. Anyone else having update problems ? I'm at 134 and should be on 154 if I can ever get it to update.

Hey guys, just did a clean install of W7 and trying to set it up all nice and tidy. I looked into how to do this and it seems that Flash Player can be Updated via the Control Panel>Adobe Flash Player>Advanced>Check now. But is this the preferred way of doing it, especially when I'm so far behind, at like version 11.xx?

Thanks, Nasty7

A:Best way to Update Adobe Flash Player

Hi:

Each browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome) uses its own version of flash player.
For Chrome, it's embedded, the "PPAPI" version.
For Firefox, it's the "NPAPI" (Plug-In) version.
For IE under Win7, it's the "ActiveX" version.
The latter 2 must be installed separately.

First step will be to UNINSTALL the older versions, as they are a huge security risk.

To uninstall for eligible browsers, first download the uninstaller from this link, then CLOSE the browsers (important!), then run the uninstaller tool:

Uninstall Flash Player for Windows

For Flash Player for Firefox and similar browsers, you would need to separately download and install it from within Firefox from here:

Adobe Flash Player download

You can do the same by browsing to the same page using IE, to get the ActiveX version for IE.

OR, manual downloads of the different versions are here:

Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions

To test each browser to see if you have the current version, you would need to try this website separately for each browser:

Adobe - Flash Player

In Firefox 4.0 beta 7, under my Plugins list, it says that I have Adobe Flash Player 9.4.0.195. I tried looking for updates but it didn't detect any. So I tried manually installing the Flash Player, but that hasn't worked either.
For example, if I go to Amazon's Gold Box page, the listing doesn't show up. It's just blank. And for some advertisements, it says that Adobe Flash player has crashed.
Anything I could do to fix this?

Okay, so over the passed few months when I had time, I updated the out-of-date Adobe Flash Player on this computer, with no problems at all.
Today I updated to the next version and then Youtube videos won't play; it's nothing but a black screen.  So I tried updating another version higher and uninstalling the previous one; same problem with Youtube videos.
So I uninstalled that and went back and installed the version I was at that I had no problems with and I still can't see Youtube videos.
I've cleared the Youtube, Google, and Adbobe cookies with no success.  I've restarted twice with no success.  I've run Temp File Cleaner and still had no success.

I also tried emptying the Flash Player cahce (but did not restart).

That was all I did, no other hardware/software/or programs or updates.
What now?

Hi tharpdevenport,

Please don't hold me to this, but from my understanding youtube now uses html5 not flash

your IE 7 does not support html5, but IE 9 does, so maybe time for an upgrade

Edge is only available on Win10 so you might think about upgrading all the way to IE 11

There are some ways to force flash but they are long and complicated (google)not really worth it

Hope that helps a little

Hi there. First post. First problem in a while.

I am having a problem with what seems to be a fake Adobe Flash Player Update / Redirect virus. It seems to be like this one here -- http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic447651.html

I came into my office/studio over the weekend and there was a series of adobe flash player 11.5 installer windows. Connected to the internet a new one pops up every 10 minutes or so. I also came to experience (in researching the problem) that internet links were being redirected to random/odd looking sites.

When not connected to the internet the adobe player windows are not opening. And to add to it, last night I received an error window message -- Windows detected a hard disk problem. And asking me to back up my files. This is on a data drive and not the OS disk.

The only think I did was uninstall the flash player from the programs view in windows (before I realized that it was likely not really adobe).

I was going to follow the instructions on the link above, but after reading the forum rules I thought I should create a new post.

Here are the system details:

This is a 3 year old computer. Used primarily for music recording and optimized for that (no virus protection is 1). It rarely is connected to the internet. The only thing I can think of recently is that I mistyped an internet address that created some popups. If something looked vaguely like Adobe it is possible I clicked on something while half paying attention - li... Read more

Guys,

Computer booted up today and after several minutes maybe a half hour, I got a message that "Adobe Flash has an update. if you do nothing, it will be automatically installed within 45 days, or you can download it now." Nothing open, just the Desktop. Well, I closed out and did nothing, because Windows 10 normally updates Flash Player without notices.

I checked Windows Update and a new version of Adobe Flash was installed today automatically. Just giving those a heads up that you might want to close the Window if you see that message. Don't know if it could lead to malware or not. Some of you may get this message in Windows 10, so I just wanted to give you a heads up notice. I don't know if this message was legit or not. I have never had an issue like this before.

Well, I had this pop-up that frequently opened up whenever I started my computer. I never took a screenshot of it, but I found a picture of it, but it's small. It masked itself as an Adobe Flash Player update and because it came up when I started my computer, I figured it was reputable. I clicked it maybe six or so days ago, and since then I've been getting these suspicious pop-ups and when I check task manager, I find my CPU usage spiked up to like 80 percent when I am not doing much and then come right back down to like 1 or 5 percent. I've gotten increasingly suspicious and I ran some scanning tests, but none of them have been able to get rid of the suspicious pop-up. Nevertheless,This is the "update" that I believe installed the virus/trojan/whatever it was:I found this picture on a facebook note, which further cemented my theory of this downloading something harmful to my computer, http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=276813992337786.The suspicious pop-up looks like this:It doesn't look like an actual Adobe warning, and it's been happening since I've clicked on the "update."I ran some tests and deleted some trojans/adware directed by boopme in a different topic, it's here if you need to see anything: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic456984.htmlThe two logs created by DDS, are attached.Thank You, the help is much appreciated.
