Thinkpad Yoga 370 is not charging

Q: Thinkpad Yoga 370 is not charging

My Yoga 370 is not charging eventhough the adapter is pluged in. The power stays constant at 39%. When I disconnect the adapter the power decreases as normal but it dosen't charge anymore. I'm afraid that when it reaches 0% the Laptop won't work without power cable. It says in the settings: connectet, not charging (in German).Greetings Mogli

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, I have  a Thinkpad X380 Yoga. The Thunderbolt 3 Dock will not charge my Thinkpad X380 YOGA, and a message saying that the dock is not providing enough power shows up on my minitor. I wonder if anyone have a solution to this problem. It does not make  sense to have to connect the Thunderbold AND the AC power to the Thinkpad, it should be just ONE Thunderbold cord. 1. My power brick is 135W, 20V-6.75A2. I am connecting the Thunderbolt to throuogh the port on the back of the dock.3. I have went to BIOS  and under power section, "disable the battary for technical service" and pwered it back on. None of the above solutions worked.

I?ve troubleshooted as much as I could and thought I saved enough battery for implementing a solution once I found it but it is completely dead. It seems that a lot of people across many models suddenly have an issue with charging and I noticed a firmware update for the charging port was released right before I started experiencing the issue but it would not let me install the update because it said I didn?t have any ports. I need this computer for my profession and it?s been out of commission for a week or so now. I am desperate for a fix! Where is Lenovo Support?

A:Thinkpad X1 Yoga 2nd Gen Not charging

The only firmware update I know about is for the docking station.  I don't think this is a general problem.  Are you still under warranty?  Many are. What is the condition of the battery.  Will it start on A/C?  Are you sure your charger is working?

I have recently bought a Thinkpad Yoga 460 with Thinkpad Pen Pro. I leave it in the laptop slot for charging for more than a day and it gives me only a few minutes of usage. As per the user guide, it should be 80% charge in 15 seconds and 100% after 5 minutes. But it runs out of charge very soon. It shows me the low battery level indicator as soon as I use it on the screen. First day of usage (appox 4 days ago) it gave me about 30 - 45 minutes of continuous. But after that not more than 5 minutes. Please let me know if this is an issue with the Pen or Laptop charging port. Is there any way I can troubleshoot it?Please also let me know the average usage time for the pen, if you are continuously using it.

Hi
Welcome to the forums.

I do not have that kind of pen, but I think is the one that has some "bronce contacts" at the top of the pen. I had read some other post about it, just in case check that "contacts" to make sure they are touching with the charger when you put the pen into it's holder. Sometimes the contacts may move.

Hello everyone,About a week ago, I got an error message saying something like the battery cannot be identified (I'm trying to find a screenshot somewhere).Since that moment, the battery does not charge when the AC adapter is plugged in, while the battery is nearly full (>90%).I found this thread and it fits exactly to my problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Thinkpad-Yoga-14-battery-quot-plugged-i... I understand that this behaviour might be a feature to improve the batteries lifespan, but I really want to get rid of that. The Lenovo Settings App offers the option to manually set the charging-threshold to 40-100%, but setting it to 100% or turning the feature off does not change anything.Another side effect is that the charging process does not begin until about 1 minute after the AC adapter is plugged in.I didn't knowingly change anything on the software configuration when the problem appeared, the said error message appeared while watching YouTube-videos. lg, couka

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I do not know a solution for your problem, but I want to suggest you some trial an error to see if it can be software related issue.

1) Check the Lenovo Settings and see if it asks you to update the System Interface Foundation drivers.
2) Check the support site and just in case check that you have the latest BIOS and the latest "Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 10 "

After that check the "Lenovo Settings" and give it a try turning on the option of "extended the battery life", set it to a 80% and give it some time for it to discharge. After that disable that feature to see if the battery charges back again.

Also on "Lenovo Settings", on the same "battery/power" page it has a "restablish" options, maybe you can also try that later.

Sorry that this is just some trial and error, but it is what it cames to my mind right now.

When I plug in my laptop it says "plugged in, not charging"

I've tried three USB-C different power adapters - 2 Lenovo, and one generic.

The laptop is still under warranty, but tech support has been worthless (mostly because I can't even reach them). And whenever I've reached them for other issues, they immediately jump to shipping it to the depot... something that's extremely difficult for me given the fact that I need this laptop for work. Any ideas from the community?

Nope.  Mine charges fine.  I have other issues but pen charging is not one of them.  If yours charges fine in another laptop that to me means nothing is wrong with the pen but something is wrong with the pen charging on your X1Y3.  Since its new  I personally would call support.

Hello, where can I find the charging indicator on the Thinkpad Yoga? When I'm charging the machine (turned off) I don't see any light or other charging indicator. Is this normal? ThanksRegardsRango

A:Thinkpad Yoga Charging Indicator

Hi Rango,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.

The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:

? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,
Mithun.

4 year old machine, had problem with wireless adapter, ordered one up that problem solved but it wouldnt power up so i bought a new battery. Perfect. It booted up fast to desktop but i noticed it was not charging, plugged in so tried another a/c adapter and then another. Research said to hold power button for 20 seconds etc, then unplug battery and boot up still nothing. I removed the MCI Microsft under Batterys in Device Mgr. That didnt help. Any ideas greatly appreciated

A:Yoga Thinkpad S1 not charging, new battery etc

Where have you purchased this battery? Many batteries that are not original can get swollen and be dangerous. Also the reason why some suggest to hold the power button for 20 seconds and remove the battery is to remove any static electricity from the laptop and to "callibrate" the battery.

Hello I own a thinkpad S1 yoga laptop (core i3 processor and 4 GB RAM). It suddenly stopped charging using 45W adapter (20V, 2.5 A). However, it is charging fine using a 90W adapter (20V, 4.5 A) which I got with my previous Lenovo laptop Any recent windows or system updates caused this? Is there any solution other than using a 90W adapter which I am scared to use as it may charge 47W battery too rapidly casuing a quick death of battery or explosion in the worst case. Please help

A:Thinkpad S1 Yoga stopped charging with a 45W adapter

Hi Chaitanya,Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.As I understand that you have query regarding your 45W AC Adapter is not charging your ThinkPad S1 Yoga
I believe the AC Adapter has gone bad as you have mentioned that its charging fine with 90W Adapter
I don't think so it is caused due to software or Windows updates. You can also check whether its getting charged in shutdown mode or not to confirm.

I hope the above information helped you.

Hello, My recently bought Thinkpad Yoga 14 recently had this strange problem going on. The battery goes down, even when the AC cord is plugged in. The battery message says "plugged in, not charging". What exactly is the problem, and how do I fix it? The laptop came with Windows 10. Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you! ??

A:Thinkpad Yoga 14 battery "plugged in, not charging...

It isn't a problem.  The battery has a nearly full charge, so the charging turns off so as not to "cook" the battery.  If you unplug the battery and let it run down a while, then plug it in, it will charge.  I tend not to charge mine until it gets under about 70%.  A Lithium battery slowly degrades after a certain number of charges.

Could you also tell us a bit more about the configuration?     What phone did you plug in, and what is the specifified input power required for charging that phone?  (You could look at the output power rating of the adapter that came with the phone).

Which USB port did you plug the phone into?

How much charge did the ThinkPad battery have when you put it to sleep? (Suspend)  Also, please confirm you put it in suspend / sleep vs hibernation?

Thanks!

Hi there, I have a question with regards to power management for my Lenovo thinkpad x1 yoga 3rd. I tried finding a solution to be able to manage the charging threshold points myself. However, anything I found points to either old solutions (Lenovo Companion, Lenovo Settings) or it doesn't seem to be fully working for my device and environment (Windows 10).I have ended up installing Lenovo Vantage from the Windows App Store but I notice that:- it takes a long time for the app to start (several minutes)- there is no "Power" menu item under HW I am not sure if the app is compatible with my device? For example, the Update System Drivers function doesn't seem to work at all. I triggered the same and the hour glass indicates gathering information but nothing seems to happen (I waited for more then 30 min).  So, as I usually work off the power supply and only seldom on battery, I want to be able to limit charging of the battery to a max of 80 or 85%. I found some instructions on tweaking registry settings but all they did so far is showing the battery icon in the task bar (but maybe that came with the Lenovo Vantage installation, I can't be fully sure).  I read several posts that the threshold settings are not necessary for modern / new systems but being an electrical engineer and having read up on the Lithium Ion Battery charging issue, I beg to differ! Unless the battery is calibrated to show 100% at a "true" 85% charge, charging the las... Read more

I posted a similar question earlier and people referred me to the Yoga (much appreciated).  However, I was interested in the 2.6 lb carbon version with touch screen capabilities.  Asus has a Spin 7 model that is very good at 2.65lb, but I miss the red mouse toggle in the middle of the keyboard and Asus's track pad was designed too large....causing unintended tapping.  The Yoga, while nice, is heavier than I was looking for.  The 14 inch screen is about 3.3lb? the 12 inch at 3? I thought that some of the earlier Thinkpad Carbons had touch screen and was hoping they would make a return soon.  Thanks,

I am hhaving difficulty finding an acceptable scaling mix between resolution, system scaling, and edge scaling. At 1080p, 125%, 125%, os navigation is mostly fine, but edge text is way too large. At 1080p, 125%, 100%, edge text is way too small. At all combinations text is inflated (but crisp) in certain elements while fuzzy in others. What scaling combinations work best for you? I am considering returning this to Best Buy and upgrading to a Pro 4 / Book, or even a Mac. The scaling is ruining an otherwise great experience.

You didn't say how old that laptop is and if it has the original battery and charger.

A laptop battery will lose the ability to charge and have burn time as it gets older.

Hello, My Thinkpad P50 is not charging at all, it used to charge sometimes (for about a day before it finally stopped working) if I adjusted the cable a certain way but only for a short while before it stopped. I used a multimeter on the charger to make sure that it was working and got a consistent ~20V reading from it which I belive to be the expected amount. This led me to believe that the charging port was faulty so I ended up ordering a replacement from ebay and just finished replacing the it; however that does not seem to have solved my problem. It is technically possible that I have gotten a faulty replacement, however it has also led me to believe that it could be the charging circuitry in the motherboard that is faulty. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to check that? Some symptoms of my issue are that when plugged in and powered off the orange light on the back does not light up, when powered on and plugged in (Win 10 x64) it does not recognize that it is plugged in at all. I have checked if it is in Airplane Power Mode but as far as I can tell I have made sure it is turned off. In Lenovo Vantage it also says that my battery is in good health (however I believe that should be irrelevant as the computer should run while plugged in). Does anyone have any reccomendations on possible remmedies? EDIT: I also recently updated the BIOS is it possible that the new BIOS has caused an issue to occur? It is currently running BIOS 1.56 and the ECP is N1EHT38W.

Disclosure:  I received these laptops from Lenovo as part of their advocacy program, so huge thanks to the folks over at Lenovo. I don't receive compensation for my review, and as always, all opinions are my own.

The ThinkPad X1 Yoga is first modern ThinkPad that I've ever owned.  I?ve been using Lenovo?s Ideapad lineup for a very long time, and while I?ve used ThinkPads in the past, the X1 Yoga will be my first personal ThinkPad that I own.  So how does it stack up to the Yoga 910?  Let?s find out! I have the i7 UHD model of the Yoga 910 and the i5 FHD model of the ThinkPad X1 Yoga.  I tried out the latest Yoga 920, but I haven?t tried the latest X1 Yoga yet? hopefully, I will!

Hardware & Design
Even though both laptops carry ?yoga? in their name, the hardware behind them is vastly different.  The ThinkPad X1 Yoga has the classic ThinkPad black design, which is made of a carbon-fiber hybrid for the top cover and a magnesium-PPS hybrid for the bottom cover.  The Yoga 910 has a similar design from the Lenovo?s Yoga lineup, with an aluminum build throughout.

The ThinkPad only comes in two colors: classic black and silver; whereas the Yoga has a whole suite of colors to choose from, such as silver, copper, bronze, and even a few exclusive designs, such as the Vibe designs for the Yoga 920 and the Star Wars themed designs for the Yoga 910.

I have a BRAND NEW ThinkPad P71.  The A/C adaptor is plugged into the laptop and the green light next to it is illuminated.  On the screen in the lower right hand there is the Lenovo Vantage battery icon showing the percentage of power level in the battery.  There is also the system battery icon in all white showing the same power level when you hover over it.  BOTH icons display, "plugged in, not charging" and I have confirmed the outlet my laptop is plugged into is working properly to supply power.  When I unplug the A/C adaptor and the battery power percentage reduces and after plugging the A/C adaptor back into laptop the battery power percentage does not increase. I have also done what Lenovo recommends which is to unplug the adaptor, remove the battery, and re-engage BUT nothing has changed.  For some reason the battery is simply not re-charging.  Anyone else have this problem OR does anyone know another solution?

Win7 or Win10?  Probably the latter.

Is the latest Power Management Driver (for 7/10) installed?  Power Manager (for 7) installed?

Barring a defective battery or some other hardware issue with your P71 (and worst case, it's under warranty so you can call Lenovo to open a ticket and get a technician to come out and solve your problem with appropriate parts replacements, whatever it might be), it might be that the software is simply deciding not to "charge" because of a battery plan agenda or Registry values set so that no charging is occurring (under software control) even though you've now tried to drain it a bit so that it really should have reached its lower-threshold to reactivate charging.

I recently learned of a Registry hack to set the low/high limits in Win10 to match the customizable values for the Lenovo Win7 Power Manager (which does not exist in Win10).  After installing this REG file Win10 battery charging behavior will work like it does in Win7 with Power Manager, meaning there is your own low threshold value above which no charging occurs but below which charging once again kicks in.  And then charging continues until the upper threshold is reached at which charging stops (thus avoiding charging all the way up to 100%, but stopping below it... say at 96%).  Curiously, Win10 seems to reset the primary parameter values of the REG file whenever a Windows Update is applied (e.g. overnight) or on other unknown circumstanc...
