Getting back deleted emails

Q: Getting back deleted emails

Hi guys,
I checked the forums like many should do before asking, but most say oe or other names I have no idea of. My email is a sbcglobal.net address through yahoo, with internet through ATT. I'm not computer techy, so all those other email programs went over my head,

I had an email that I thought was safe that I "thought" I saved, but it got deleted. Over time the deleted emails were cleared too. (OOOPPPSSSS) I see there are certain programs to run to see if they are on the hard drive somewhere, but like I said I have no idea what email program I fall under. RIght now I have a windows 8 but it could also be on my older computer, which is a vista.

Any way to possibly get it back? Thought if anybody knew it would be you guys, or gals.

Thanks, and have a great day

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Are you using web mail access? That is, when in your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) you go to some Yahoo! or att or sbc address to access your mail? If so, the deleted message will not be on either of your computers.

If, however, you are using an email client (Vista's Windows Mail, Thunderbird, etc.) which one(s)?

Using XP\Home, Emachine 4697...I started with some minor problems and now my OE mails (send and receive) are arbitrarily deleted. I removed Google FF, MS Security, Google Earth and some other stuff.
When I rebooted they were all back.
MalwareBytes found 3 files: "PUP.Adware.ag" in C:\Systems Volume Information\Restore\0504B..........

I removed them with Malware, then rebooted and all the other stuff was back and Malware was removed...but not by me.

I removed all anti viruses, installed AVG, ran a scan, when I returned to the computer AVG and any results were gone, gone, gone.

A real mess.

Any help welcome!

I deleted some emails concerning my daughter's ex-boyfirned which would be very helpful in a custody case. Is there a way for a layman to find these files hidden on the hard drive or are they lost for eternity? This case will be heard on Tuesday April 2, 2002 so the sooner I get an answer to my question the better. Please contact me at [email protected] if you have any suggestions. I am getting desperate. Thanks for your help. I use Outlook Express and have Windows 98 installed on my computer if that will help.

A:Deleted emails

You probably already did this - but did you check your Deleted Items folder in OE to see if they are still there? Otherwise - do you have web-based email through your ISP? (For example if these emails came to your @apex.net domain, do they have a place on their site to check your email?) If so - see if there is still a copy of the emails on their server.

Good luck.

Hi. I had a virus and since getting rid of it I have lost all my emails. This includes saved ones, unopened and opened and many I really wanted to keep. Can anyone tell me if they can be retreived and what is the easiest way to do this. Thanks

A:Deleted emails

The first question is how did you lost them? (Did the virus delete them or you have removed the files when cleaning your computer?)

Recovering a removed file (not in recycle bin) is almost impossible if your computer had been working for a long time since the deletion took place. In any case, recovering is hard and you will have to pay a lot for it.

The best recovery tool is restoring a back up, if you have one.

Anyway i went to the Recycle bin and it had an icon for inbox.outbox, sent items, drafts etc etc and i right clicked on them and clicked restore but nothing happened- like they didnt appear back in the outlook express.

Is there any way without having to buy some software off the net that i can somehow retieve them ?

Since you seem to have the downloads on your computer, try running ccleaner.

I have been trying unsuccessfully to find the location of deleted emails in Outlook 2003.

Years ago, I tried a program called Safe-It to find and permanently delete my already deleted emails. It worked perfectly and my computer seemed to run faster afterward running it. I assumed that this was due to it freeing up a lot of space on the hard drive.

I would buy this program but it is about $40 per year and I don't have anything important enough in my deleted emails to warrant $40 per year. If it was $40 and would continue to run after a year, I would buy it but according to their ad, you must pay $40 or not all of the features of the program will continue to work. I do not want a crippled program so have passed on their program.

These emails must be kept in one location but if so, I cannot find it. Does anyone here know where they are stored?

Thanks

A:Location of deleted emails

Outlook keeps deleted Emails in the deleted folder until you empty it or delete them from there and when (like a disk) the space becomes available. The difference is that Outlook keeps everything inside a single file (Outlook.pst by default) which it expands for new stuff, but only compresses when you tell it to. This means that after deleting and prior to compressing it might be possible to recover a 'permanently deleted' item - indeed there are utilities to do it.
Once compressed, the deleted files cannot be recovered. The compress is an option built in to Outlook - File->Data File Management-> Highlight file->Settings->Compact Now

I use Cox Internet and the Microsoft 2007 Office Suite (and, unfortunately my OS is Vista). With Cox (and I suppose with Office), my emails are stored on my hard drive vs cyberspace (like Hotmail and the like). So even if I delete an email, it's still on my hard drive. I'd like to clean out my hard drive some and one of the things I want to do is to deleted my deleted emails that are lurking on my hard drive somewhere. I know emails are .pst. I've tried searching *.pst, but get nothing. Ideas?

A:Deleted emails from Outlook

When you delete an email in Outlook, it's moved to the Deleted Items folder. When you delete it from there it's still in the *.pst file, but would likely take 3rd party tools to recover. To make sure it's unrecoverable, you need to compact the Data file.

Click File | Data File Management
This will list all the different Data files you've setup, including their location.
Highlight any one, then click Settings, then click Compact Now.
Or right click Personal Folders, click Properties, the click the Advanced button, that will get you to the same place.

If they were deleted from the 'Trash' or 'Deleted Emails' folders or similar, they are likely gone forever. If fairly recent you (or the Court) might ask your ISP to provide them if they have backups. If really desperate, a hard drive forensics company may be able to help.

Is there any free software online that is able to retrieve emails permanently deleted from an AOL account about 3 weeks ago? The email was also printed out that day in case if that helps in locating the lost email in some random sector of the hard drive.
Thanks!

A:Finding deleted emails

If the email was stored on the AOL server, and not downloaded in Outlook or Outlook express, you have zero chance of retrival, as it is stored on a server that you have no control over and would certainly be already written over.

If it did create a temporary spool file in memory while printing out, that will have been immediately deleted when the print operation finished.

If you actually downloaded it in Outlook or similar, then deleted it there is every liklihood it is in your email delected folder. But that is speculation as we don't know how it was accessed.
