USB detection error and computer cannot detect my wifi card

Q: USB detection error and computer cannot detect my wifi card

For the usb detection error it is an adapter that plugs my micro sd card into the usb port so i can move music onto it to put it in my phone, i had to reformat the sd card while it was in my phone so my phone could use it and now i cannot get it detected on my computer no matter how i connect it (usb adapter, SD card adapter, micro sd port ) and i have yet been able to find a solution to this problem. the device status is "This device could not start. (code 10)"

The issue with my wifi card is still unknown to me as well, i have my wifi card plugged into my desktop and it says i have nothing plugged in in the bottom righthand corner where the internet connection would show. When i go to device manager it has the yellow warning symbol next to it and the device status is as follows "Your computer's systems firmware does not include enough information to properly configure and use this device. to use this device, contact your computer manufacturer to obtain a firmware or bios update. (code 35)"
this wifi card started to perform slowly and made my download rate drop from 1.3MB/s to under 100Kb/sec randomly. I have a Broadcom 802.11g network adapter with hardware id pci\VEN_14E4&DEV_431&SUBSYS_044914E4&REV_02 and i had the driver tuner from broadcom which needs internet to work... seems counter intuitive to me but whatever.
I ran into this issue when I switched my wifi cards to a different one and the new one didnt download the drivers correctly so i just swapped em back and it still worked the bad performance way but when i turned on my computer for the next time it couldnt detect it.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi Welcome to Seven Forums .. Your second issue Code 35 could be a BIOS Issue ..

Have a look in System Information there you should find which Version you are using ...

Then check on your Motherboards Website .. To see what the latest Version is ..
Personally i do not recommend Updating the BIOS ..
As for Code 10 that is a tricky one ...

My building has a free wifi service. There are routers on each floor. My computer has built in wireless lan. It will recognize signals from those who have installed ATT's 2wire system, but not a single signal from and othe routers in the building. I am now using a usb wifi adapter which has detected all the signals. I have reinstalled the drivers and tried to connect the wireless lan but it has been unsuccessful. The windows connection software will not work. It seems strange to be able to detect the ATT connections but not any of the buildings signals.

When I boot up my laptop I would say it's a coin flip whether or not it detects my WiFi card on boot--I can tell whether or not it has been detected on boot because the WiFi symbol (instead of the LAN) symbol will appear in the bottom right corner of the home/login screen. When the card is detected the WiFi works PERFECTLY fine. This problem started happening when I used and uninstalled Technitium (a program that allows you to easily change your WIFI card's MAC address.) The reason I was using this program was so I could keep using an airport's complimentary free 30 min WiFi service for a few hours without having to pay--surely I've been paying for it in problems the last few months. Could anyone offer any insight as to how I can fix this? You guys have been my heroes since I was a kid.

guys this one has me stumped cold. Dell Inspiron laptop, very clean software wise, had original mini-card [internal] which could not detect any wifi networks - known good wifi AP's. All the windows checked showed the device working properly but I finally replaced it with one of the better "n" cards out there. Same thing all over again. Put it right next to a working AP, cannot detect a thing. Antennae is hooked up properly.

If I plug a good WIFI stick into USB, it works immediately, no drama.

I have no idea what is preventing this from detecting anything. What should I be looking for?

A:WLAN Mini-card Good, but cannot detect WIFI ??

Hi zapp22,

It appears that the 'Wireless Card' is currently 'Disabled'; please check its status in 'BIOS' and 'enable' it if needed. To access 'BIOS' you may follow the steps listed below:
- Power off the laptop > Power it back on and at 'Dell splash screen', repeatedly tap 'F 2 key' (BIOS screen should appear) > Usually 'Dell Inspiron' laptops have a 'category' named 'Advanced' > Ensure that WLAN is enabled > 'Save Settings' and 'Exit'
(Note: BIOS setup may vary based on different laptop models)

If the wireless card still does not detect any networks in 'Windows', try tapping <Function><F2> or only <F2> if the previous key combination does not work. This is the 'radio control' for the 'Wireless Card' installed in the system.

Hope this helps. Do reply with the finding; would be glad to assist.

I switch with a killer 1535 from my other laptop : the ac 8265 worked on my other laptop, but i couldnt get the killer 1535 to work on my 470s (i could see it in the devicer manager but kept getting greyed out..).I spent the last 4 days on it and i feel like i read all the google pages that couldve helpt me.

Hi,
I just bought an Epson Workforce printer, model WF-3620.
I have a HP desktop that I bought last May. It came with
Windows 8 but I think I upgraded to Windows 10 & I'm not
sure where to find out what the current OS is.

The printer can be connected by wire, but no wire was supplied with it.
It can also be connected wirelessly. Since I don't have a network, the
Epson support said I could connect with direct wifi.

She walked me through the steps of setting up direct wifi on the printer.
Then she tried to take me to where that wifi would be detected & listed
by my computer. However, it seems that the computer does not detect
the printer's wifi. It is not listed. She told me that the problem is probably
with Windows & I need to contact Microsoft.

Well, I've looked through a number of Microsoft's support articles and
not found anything helpful, and I can't find how to contact Microsoft.

Does anyone here know what the problem might be & how to solve it?

Thanks.

Hi, My laptop has a very weak wifi detection. Only when the wifi signal is very strong can it detect the wifi. I tried contacting HP regarding the same. They said it could be a loose connection with the wifi antenna. I have been waiting for the custumer service in my area to contact me(like HP promised!!!) for quite a long time now . Now I am in urgent need to get this fixed. I was wondering if an external wifi adapter would solve this issue. Mine is a Windows 10 laptop. Model no: ab030tx (pavilion). If an external adapter works, what would you suggest? (I am confused as a lot of products available in market only convert the laptop to a hotspot)

Hey guys,

So, what i'm trying to do is create a wifi hotspot using my computer. In other words, turning my computer into a router. I'm wanting to do this so i can use my ipod at home instead of only when i'm around other wifi hotspots.

My computer is running off of a wired router, so that i can play online on my PS3 as well. I was told wifi doesn't work well with Ps3's normally so i just bought a wired router. So, the mainline internet cord is plugged into a wired router and then another line runs into my computer.

For some reason, after i make an adhoc connection, the computer is not sending the required information to the iPod so that it connects to the internet.

I've tried entering in the information into the Static tab in my ipod as well, and still only get Local Connection instead of Local and Internet.

This is what my connection looks like through the router using ipconfig /all:

Hi Cromsy,

Welcome to Vista Forums!

Unfortunately, it isn't as simple as that. You are connected to the router fine with your computer, but that tells us nothing about the ipod because wireless is off (but that's not the whole story either - you need something extra to do what you want). The following article should tell you what you need and how to do it: How to Connect iPod Touch to Windows 7 Ad-hoc Wireless Network. Although it says Windows 7, there are procedures for Vista as well (and the software will work with Vista).

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

I was trying to install a new video card to my father in laws HP. Its an HP Pavillion m7530n. It had a 7300 LE that I guess burned out and wasn't physically installed. I plugged in the vga cord to the standard plug on the back of the computer and started uninstalling the old nvidia drivers. Once uninstalled I restarted and put in the 8800 gts. I had all ready downloaded new drivers for the card so once back up and running (still plugged into the standard vga because no picture from 8800 gst) and installed new drivers. After that was done I rebooted again and no picture still from 8800 gts. I plugged it back into the onboard plug and the drivers had updated the onboard 6150 LE.

Tried a few things such as BIOS loading the video from PCI-E instead of PCI or Onboard and still no picture. Any other ideas? I tried posting on tomshardware (mistake again...) and only got sarcastic replies and a "what you should have done was". Could the card itself (a card from a friend who bought a new one) not be working, not compatible? Oh, I did put it a new power supply. 450 watt with 24a on the 12v. I used the direct 6 pin for plugging it in. COuld the monitor cord have something to do with it also? I am using a vga with an adapter on the vid card side only. Any advice on what to do next would be appreciated.
EDIT: Right now I plugged it back into the vga port and it has the 6150 LE installed again. If I plug it into the 8800 gts it is only a black screen and the only picture... Read more

You could try using System Restore to go to a point before you tried to install the new driver.

Also, before installing a new graphics driver try first uninstalling the old one from Programs and Feature (Vista or W7) or Add or Remove Programs (XP).

From Explanation of error codes generated by Device Manager in Windows XP Professional

Make sure that Device Manager is open, and that the device that has the problem is selected. You can perform some recommended resolutions through Device Manager.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
Select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
Double-click the device type that has the problem. For example, if you have problems with your modem, double-click Modems to see the devices in that category.

A list of devices appears. If a device has problems, the device has a red exclamation point next to it. If a device is unknown (usually because of missing drivers), the device has a yellow question mark next to it.
Right-click the device that has the problem, and then click Properties. This opens the device Properties dialog box. You can see the error code in the Device status area of this dialog box.
Use the Troubleshooting Wizard, if it is available, to help you diagnose and resolve your problem.
On the device Properties dialog box, click the General tab.
Click Troubleshoot to start the Troubleshooting Wizard. The wizard asks you some simple questions and provides a solution to your problem based on the answers that you provide. If the Troubleshooting Wizard is not available, go to step 3.
Follow the resolution steps provided by the wizard to resolve the problem.

A:Computer won't Detect Nvidia Geforce 730 Graphics card

You need to tell use more about your computer, what is the make and model of it, what is the model of the motherboard, what is the model of the power supply? What version of Windows?

Is it the Geforce GT 730 you bought or something else? What is the intended use of the new graphics card?

And what graphics card or GPU did you have before adding this card?

Do you have the monitor connected to the new graphics card or do you by chance still have it connected to the integrated graphics that many computer have? It needs to be connected to the new card before turning the computer on.

Have you made sure the card is seated fully in the slot?

Have you tried using the latest drivers from the NVidia website: http://www.geforce.com/drivers

Do you have access to another computer to try the card to make sure its not defective?

I think it's even less likely that found a 64-bit driver for the WG311v1.

Haloo, am using hp elitebook 6930p and it has a problem of wifi detection. i have downloaded some drivers but upon installing them and uninstalling the old ones the old drivers reinstall themselves automatically. so am unable to use the new drivers. what can i do to prevent the reinstallation?

A:WIFI DETECTION PROBLEMS

Please perform a few steps to try and resolve the issue. Open windows Control Panel, open Power Options and next to your currently selected power plan, click Change plan setting.  In the following window, click Change advanced power settings.  In the next window, open up 'Wireless Adapter Settings' and then open up 'Power Saving Mode'.  Next to On battery: click the current setting and a drop-down box will appear - select 'Maximum Performance'.  Do the same for Plugged in.  Then click Apply and Ok to save these settings. Restart the notebook and see if this has helped the issue. Also open device manager. Go to Network adapters and expand it. Select the wireless network adapter for your device by right-clicking on it and clicking on properties. Then go to power management option and uncheck the box that says? Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Also, check the box that says ?Allow this device to wake the computer? Please  uninstall and reinstall the network drivers from device manager. Please update the bios and the wifi drivers from this link http://hp.com/drivers You need to select the country and language. Then enter the product# of the unit and follow the on-screen instructions to update it. You could use HP support assistant to do it as well.  Hope this helps, for any further queries reply to the post and feel free to join us again  ... Read more

Hi all

I notice a lot of forum angst about the sudden disappearance of the list of WiFi hotspots detected (right-hand side of taskbar) and so inability to connect with the internet.

Being - literally - a gumby, I don't know the terms for various things so I hope folk know what I'm talking about. I'm calling the little "WiFi" icon (on the taskbar, lower right) the "WiFi Manager" - if anyone would mind responding with its correct title, I'd be grateful.

OK - My story. I suddenly got booted off the internet last night, and when I tried to reconnect, found the box usually containing the list of detected hotspots was totally empty! AND, only the "AirplaneMode" button was at the bottom of that. After the usual panic and hoping lots of rebooting would fix something, I right clicked on the "WiFi Manager" icon - now a box with a red cross on it. Nothing. I'm not very observant, but here's a list of what I think I did to get my internet connection back. Maybe it'll help some folk. Certainly not all. Sorry:

1. Open "Control Panel"
2. Left click "Network and Internet"
3. Left click "Network and Sharing Center"
4. Look down to "Change your networking settings"
5. Left click "Troubleshoot problems"
6. Page should read: "Troubleshoot problems - Network and Internet"
7. Under "Network" - top half ...
8. Left click on "Internet Connections" ("Find and fix problems w... Read more

I am using HCL ME 74 series laptop with win 7 OS 32 bit. recently my OS crashed and I reinstalled the OS. surprisingly there are no netwrok controllers in my device manager. the network adpters give by HCL have been used. But the system is detecting the wifi networks all around but not connecting.
The HCL ME series gives some funny buttons to press: set wifi enable -> Fn+F11, and bluetooth -> fn+F12 . both are enables.
As a typical Indian customer care center the support people are very uninterersted to help (with a lot of laughter and gossip in the background).

Hi everyone, HELP!

I have a strange problem with my browsers, (Fire Fox, and IE). I have had excellent connection via my wireless laptop HP Pavillion to my Linksys wireless router for the last year.

The problem began when I tried to connect to a flat screen TV via... first an HDMI cable, (no sound)...and then an ethernet cable (no detection).

Attempting this was evidently a big mistake and scrwed up some subtle detection on my laptop!

Because, since then, when I try to go back to my home wifi network, (the one that worked so well over the past year), although the wireless status clearly states "detected and connected", my browsers will not connect to the internet with the infamous notification of a failed internet connection of "page not found blah blah blah".

The bizarre thing is that if I pull out an ethernet cable then plug the laptop directly into my wifi linksys the browsers work just fine.

It appears as if my laptop browsers no longer recognize the wifi, even though the laptop wifi networking seems intact and functional and states it is detected.

I know the linksys wifi itself is working fine because my wife's laptop still functions over the home wifi network.

I have tried disabling the LAN on my laptop, but that still does not work, nor will it allow me to delete the LAN network (it is greyed out).

Has anyone ever had this problem? or knows how to go about solving it? or what else to try?
Many thanks,
-rs-

Well, after spending hours on a fruitless search for answers, but discovering a myriad of horrible things that can go wrong with Vista!?... I finally spent more hours figuring it out. As with most things with "Messysoft" OS...it was by accident!

First off, I am not a computer geek, just a normal user, so bear with me if certain terminology is wrong.

Evidently Vista "hard codes" an IP address when you connect your laptop to a router with an ethernet cable. It does this subtly and with no obvious changes or notifications.

Therefore when you unplug your ethenet cable and want it to look for wifi, it can't because the IP is hardcoded still to the previous ethernet cable IP address.

However, the system still DETECTS and CONNECTS to the wifi, but does not recognize it as something to use due to the IP issue above.

OK, so how to fix:
Go to Network and Internet, Net work connections, Local area connection properties and there under networking you will see a bunch of boxes that are checked.

Go to the internet protocol version 6 (TCP /IPv6) and then version 4 (TCP /IPv4) and click on it and then select their properties.

The bottom line here is that both v6 and v4 must have under their properties the boxes "obtain an IPv6 (or 4) address automatically".

This blows away the previous hardcoded IP address and ..., my problem was fixed and things start to work again.

Ahh Vista...gotta love it, what a silly system defaulted logic!!

I have a laptop INSPIRON E1705 with a WLAN card (p/n DW 1390) installed. I would like to replace it with a WiFi/Bluetooth combo card so I can have Bluetooth capability. What is the recommended card to buy that is compatible with Windows 10?

A:Replace WiFi PCIe card with WiFi/Bluetooth combo card.

Given that there will be no antenna inside the system for bluetooth, you're better off with one of these:

I recently purchased a Asus Q400A, which uses the Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230 internal adapter. Wifi has always worked properly until I installed VurtualBox. After VirtualBox installed new adapters, I completely lost my Wifi connection to the local network. I tried looking for my wifi through the network manager and Windows does not show any wifi networks. What I tried was uninstalling the wifi driver, reinstalling the wifi drivers form Intel and Asus websites. Manually deleting ALL the wifi Drivers then trying to reinstall. When using Intel's Wifi Network Manager, with this utility, I can see all the networks around and and actually connect with the tools, but that does not give me network back, and windows still won't see any networks.

I ended up restoring from a restore point and it went back to normal. The same issue occured when installing OpenVPN, when it added its' adapter, after reboot I lost Wifi connectivity again, and had to use a restore point.
I am hoping there is some fix before I take back the laptop.
PLEASE HELP!!!

I've had my Toshiba P870 i7 laptop since Xmas but have only experienced this issue in the past month or so.
After logging in, my wifi is out. Checking device manager, the Realtek RTL8273AE shows as having been stopped by Windows as the driver reported an issue. Uninstall the device (and drivers), scan for hardware changes and it's fine and runs perfectly until I reboot (either cold or warm). It does this around 40% of the time.
No issues with SFC, no issues with antivirus/firewall software, no issues with Windows errors/bad sectors, no error logs entries, no hardware conflicts.
I removed the card and reseated it.No difference. I downloaded the latest drivers. No difference.
I'm inclined to think a Windows update has somehow caused this given the tendency for Windows updates of late to bork people's systems ...

So...has anyone got any ideas on this ?
Maybe there's a way ignore reported driver faults ?
I note by the way that the Intel wifi card (#6235) I looked at today online apparently has issues with Win 64 bit systems and still hasn't been resolved by Intel and it's been months since it was identified.
Maybe it's just an intermittent glitch on W7/64 bit systems.

Any suggestions for a Toshiba/W7 64 bit alternative card ?

Hello.

My friend is staying with us and brought along her Dell laptop. She has a D-link Air Plus wireless card.

In an attempt to use her computer in our apt, she's set it up and tried to boot. Problem is, the computer is going to an error page whenever she boots with the card in place. The specific message is that file ar5200.sys is trying to write to a read-only memory. We then have to shut the system down cold as ctr-alt-del isn't working. So, it's locking up pretty well.

With the card not in place, XP is booting fine. We are getting an error code as well, but the computer boots and is working (although running slightly slower). It says system is recovering from a serious error. The error report shows the problem is files in the temp folder?

Searching for the specific sys (ar5200.sys) file hasn't given us any help. I just can't seem to find that darn file that's causing the trouble!

We first thought it might have been a problem related to blue tooth. My husband's mac has that running and she did have blue tooth software installed. We've done an uninstall and the blue tooth stuff has been wiped.

Since she cannot access the internet, we cannot download any programs to help us (or you) figure out what is wrong.

Sorry if this is too vague or confusing. I'm not used to wireless or XP!
Melissa

Hi everyone!

I'll cut right to the chase: I've been having some serious problems with wifi detection. There are times when the wifi is detected successfully, but most days, my laptop can't seem to detect any. The wifi light goes on and off as well. Also, there are times when the wifi suddenly just goes off and fails to detect any, even after it has already started working.

Usually, I have to turn off my laptop and wait for it to cool before the wifi starts working again. I already have that power save mode option unchecked, so I don't really know what's causing the problem. Once my laptop goes hot, the wifi suddenly disappears.

Any ideas?

I get the following error message whenever I try to scan from my scanner that is connected via usb to my Dell E1705 laptop:

"The computer cannot detect the scanner or camera. Please make sure the device is turned on and properly connected to the computer."

I have tried two scanners, that work on other computers, and I get the same message. I have the latest drivers, and latest updates for the E1705 and Win XP installed, but still get the same message.

Each time I connect the scanner, Windows tells me that it has found new hardware, and successfully installed it. I see the device in "Device Manager/Imagining Devices" but not in "Scanners and Cameras" in the Control Panel. Please help

Hi All,

Recently i have upgraded my wifi card in my laptop to allow for the Intel Widi functionality that my tv has. prior to installing this my pc would boot in about 15 seconds as i've also recently installed a SSD.

However since installing this wifi card (Intel ac 7260) on windows 7 x64 i have encountered numerous problems. The first few reboots after installation were kind of slow and i thought this would be the computer installing files etc to deal with the new hardware however this is not the case.. Before the boot screen for windows appears theere will be a blinking white cursour in the top left hand of the screen which will eventually dissapear and then the boot screen will appear which is also painfully slow. i've upgraded to the latest drivers however this has not solved the problem if anything it's made it slower.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what i could do ?

A:Computer Hangs at boot after Wifi card upgrade

I would first enter the BIOS Settings and see if the WiFi device is enabled (recognized).

If it is, then try disabling it in BIOS Settings and see if the boot/startup issue resolves itself with the card installed but disabled.

Then try physically uninstalling the card and see if the boot resolves.

You are testing to see if the card is installed correctly, or if the card may be faulty.
On thing I've noticed is that on some laptops the two wires that connect to the card are "keyed" so you can't (easily) switch them, but on others the two connectors are exactly the same. It does make a difference which way the wires go.

Hi - My laptop is not detecting any WiFi. Sometimes restarting solves the problem, sometimes not. Other devices are not having the same problem. In Device Manager, there are about nine device managers listed. The driver software is up to date for all of them. The problem used to be rare, but now it occurs more often than not. Any advice? Thanks.

Hi guys.
Hope someone can help me here as I am totally bamboozled.
I recently purchased a 2nd hand pc that works fine apart from not detecting my home WiFi.
I have a few laptops around the house, and have never had any problems until now.
What I cannot understand is that it detects all my neighbours and nearby available connections?
I,ve connected it via Ethernet direct to router and it works fine.
Any click by click, idiot-proof, advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
