I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

Q: I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

I'm getting a new system, and I want to wipe out Windows 7 and install Windows XP on my old system. I have not actually done anything yet--Windows 7 is still installed--but I'm trying to understand what I need to do.

I don't have a floppy drive, so I want to try the nLite slipstream procedure.

Unfortunately I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I have not found the SATA drivers. My motherboard is an MSI X-58 Pro-E (MS-7522)3.0, and my hard drive is a Western Digital Raptor 300GB 10,000 RPM Model No.: WD3000GLFS. I've looked at the MSI site, the Western Digital site, and the CyberPower site. I've looked in my Windows 7 installation disk. I've made numerous searches on the Internet....I just can't find those drivers, or the .inf file(s).

My PC manufacturer did not send me any floppy disk or CD having drivers for either my motherboard or my hard drive. I have submitted an email to Western Digital customer support, but today is Saturday, and I do not expect a reply before Monday.

Where can I find those drivers? (and the .inf file(s)).

Preferred Solution: I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

Welcome to SevenForums

You should be able to find the driver you need at the manufacurers site under chipset drivers.
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/X58-Pro-E.html#/?div=Driver&os=Win7%2064

Their is no specific driver needed for your hard drive.

Once you have iinstalled you chipset drivers you can install the XP as usual, just insert the disc format and install.

Hello!
I need to know if anyone can help me find Canon "mf drivers" in my laptop. I am trying to re-install Canon MF3240 printer. It's telling me "an older version of mf drivers exists in this computer. uninstall the older version of mf drivers, and then try to install again." There is no canon folder on my machine anymore. I can not follow the --all programs-canon-mf drivers instruction anymore! Need to manually find it. Please help!

A:How to find and manually delete "mf drivers" from my hard drive?

When such happens with printers...it's often because a process left behind by the uninstall effort...still relates to removed hardware.

I'd take a look, using a Speccy snapshot.

My computer died and I had chrome set up to autofill my passwords.  I have about 100 accounts and I cant remember them.
The worst part is that they are all set to send the password to an email account that I can't access because I don't have the password for it and the security questions are all wrong.

So, I need to get into the hard drive and locate the file within chrome that stores passwords

HELP!!!

A:Anyone know how to find the password file for chrome on a hard drive?

Hi chrisarnt If you were logged on Google Chrome back then and saved your passwords in it, they should all be sync'd to your Google account. So logging back in Google Chrome should sync them all back locally. If not, the Google Chrome password file is located in C:\Users\$username\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default and it's the Login Data file.

So my motherboard on my windows 7 laptop died. I had the hard drive tested and it's fine. So I pulled the hard drive, bought a SATA cable and turned the old hard drive into an external hard drive on a brand new windows 8 laptop.

I had a fully functional 2013 one note installed on that original hard drive. Now I'm not able to figure out how to launch the one note application on my new laptop. Is it not possible to launch it from my external hard drive?

I use Carbonite backup and can find the notebooks saved there, the one note cache files etc but need the one note application itself to open them.

Also all of my notebooks were synching except one before this motherboard crash. That notebook is listed in my backup files via Carbonite but is empty. So far I have not been able to figure out how to access the sky drive where my notebooks were synching. However, before the motherboard crash each time I opened one note this troublesome notebook was there so I know it's stored somewhere on my old hard drive (now an external USB windows 7 hard drive).

If it can be located out of the cache files from Carbonite that would be fantastic to. How can I find it?

I get intermittent file corruption when copying files, e.g. I copied a directory of photos from one drive to another then did a binary comparison of the files and 5 - 10 % of the copied files differed from the source and had bit errors.

I have the latest bios and drivers, I?ve run chkdisk, reformatted drives, run Norton disk doctor and Checkit diagnostics and everything is reported healthy.

Here are my system specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8N51GMF-9
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 300+ S939 rev E
Memory: 2 x 512MB OCZ Tech DDR PC3200
Cooling: Stock CPU fan, case fan
Power supply: 400W
Hard Drives: 1 x Samsung SP0812C SATA 80GB (boot drive, 2 partitions c:\ & e:\), 2 x Hitachi HDS728080PLA380 SATA II 80 GB w/RAID 1 (1 partition f:\)
OS: Windows XP Home SP2

I?ve seen file corruption when copying in either direction between drives, when copying from other computers on my LAN, when downloading files from the web.

Is the problem with hard drives, controller, motherboard, drivers, os? Any suggestions for how to fix?

Thanks

I have a customer's Satellite L305D S5895 laptop. This was shipped to me by the customer who tried to install Windows XP Pro, Vista and none would install. He said he tried all installation CDs he had and finally gave up on it and shipped it to me.

When I got it the partition were deleted so I tried to install Win 7 and when I do doing a custom install I get an error saying the hard drive can't be formatted on disk 0 or it will give an error that no hard drives were found.

I reset the bios to default and no matter what I do it won't format or find the harddrive. I was going to upgrade the bios but the only way I found to upgrade the bios is after windows is installed. There is no way to make changes to the bios for settings that would have to do with the hard drive. This has a Toshiba MK2546GSX (S1) hard drive.

When installing Win 7 I get the normal windows, "windows is starting", "Select Language", "Select System", "Type of install", "Custom Install", "Delete partitions", "New Partitions", "Format", then the error message "Windows cannot format a partition on disk 0. Error: 0x80070057"

This happens regardless what system I try to install. I've tried two different versions of XP, one of Vista and 3 Win 7 and each time a different install CD.

Everything was fine until after i finished the installation, and i tried to connect my old maxtor 20 gig so i could transfer some files over, and the computer stopped reading both hard drives. When i start it up, the computer can't boot from either drive. I've tried disconnecting each of the drives and only booting with one connected, with no luck. I also tried changing the gray strip, I can't remember what its official name is, but that didnt help either. Hi there
for nearly every Sony Vaio model use the ASIAN Site -- they've even got hard to find stuff like the drivers for the Dual Sony MMC SDHC card reader.

Original Drivers and Applications for VPCEH/EJ Series (Windows 7 64-Bit) : Download : Sony Asia Pacific

(Other models too -- I was just chasing down stuff for a model I've been using).

Forget about those VILE sites that sucker you in to "Free Driver Search" -- and when they find something you have to PAY to access the relevant area (We call this stuff "Sneakerware" and it's becoming more and more prevalent - they say FREE DOWNLOAD-- but that's all that's free is the Download !!!!!)

Don't use DriverMax or sites like those any more. All this stuff is FREEWARE anyway.

I use two hard drives, a smaller one that runs XP and a larger one for primarily storage. I replaced the storage drive...this had been the "first" drive and was labeled c: while the one running XP was labeled d:

I installed the new drive and rebooted. In the process, the volume labels flipped: the primary drive became c: and the storage drive becoming d:

This has thrown Windows into a world of confusion and all previously installed programs show up as uninstalled. They are still there in "program files" but many of them refuse to open, reporting not being able to find .dll files which I can search for and find on the computer.

Is this a registry issue? Is there a way to reconcile it without installing all this software again?

Thanks for any help.

Save it on a USB flash drive or blank disc and install it when asked.

Hi,

I just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, it has a TS-L633C DVD-RW drive.

I updated the DVD drive firmware to a version available on Dell's website (original D300, current DW10).

Now every time Vista starts, the "found New Hardware" wizard opens and attempts to install drivers for the DVD drive (which it doesn't find).

The drive functions perfectly, it appears in "Computer", and I am certain there are no drivers that need to be updated.

How do I get Vista to stop nagging me to update the drivers ?

Thanks!

I have a Compaq Presario S4020WM and 40 Gigs is no longer enough for me, after 4 years. I'm wanting something bigger. Compaq said it must be 5400, but I think the computer may accept 7200 RPM. They also recommend 120 GB, but I think I can have more than that. Can I? I looked at WalMart and Newegg, but can not decide on one. I'm planning to be a DJ for a radio station, so I need at least 100 Gigs, but I would like to have 200 Gigs or more. I just want to make sure I get a hard drive that will work for my computer.

Plus, do I need to increase the wattage of the power supply? The limit is 200W, so I am not sure.

Thanks.

Thunder

A:Help me find a hard drive, please.

I have never had any problems replacing 5400 RPM drives with 7200 RPM driver. They are just a little bit faster. I had a 5 year old HP with 866MHz processor and 40GB IDE HD. I bought a 7200 RPM, 300 GB, 16 MB cache HD and put it in there just fine. Windows read the entire 300GB on one partition. I don't see why a big 7200 RPM IDE drive wouldn't work for you either. HD space is actually quite cheap now days, you should be able to find the storage space you're looking for at around $100. Here are my 2 personal favorite sites to shop PC parts, because of the nice price comparison:

http://www.pricewatch.com
http://techspot.pricegrabber.com/search_attrib.php?page_id=11
http://www.newegg.com

I think you need an IDE drive (or EIDE), not SATA (Serial ATA)

I think this is your computer:

Carry out following please:
HOW TO POST A SNAPSHOT OF DISK MANAGEMENT DISPLAY
Run disk management:
WIN | type DISKMGMT.MSC | ENTER
This method gives you a display without the unneeded navigation pane.
WIN=key with Microsoft logo on top.

Maximize the output of Disk Management:
ALT-Spacebar key combo | X key (selects Maximize) |
Drag the field separators (such as between Status and Capacity) to show entire field.

Make a snapshot:
WIN | type SNIPPING | ENTER | New
Drag the cursor around the area you want to snip.
File | Save as | select save location and name | Save

Post the snapshot:
Post a File or Screenshot in Seven Forums

Hi,

I was wondering if someone on here could help me. I was trying to find out my hard drive speed as it is the lowest score on my setup. I downloaded a small speed checker program and ran it. It was set to read mode and was writing a log file. I then switched it to write test and got a message saying the it would destroy data, I assumed it meant the log file and clicked ok.

All seemed well until suddenly the computer restarted. It then could not find the systems files. I checked the bios and found that it was trying to boot to "apti drive", whatever that is, and so I changed it back to my hard drive. Still it wouldn't fire up.

I have been looking through the forums and have put in the win 7 disk and tried to repair it, also bootrec, bootsect/ mbr, nothing works.

I downloaded an updated bios file which seems to have loaded ok.

I am showing a hard drive in setup and everything looks fine. When I am in cmd prompt and try to change to C drive, it doesn't recognise it. In cmd the drive is showing as X, all I can get is my cd drive which has changed to D.

It is as if my hard drive has vanished. I am assuming that the program wiped my start up files, but I can't understand why I cannot reinstall them. I also tried to reinstall win7, but it can't find a drive to install to. I am getting a bit desparate now please help.

It looks like my hard drive has just vanished.

A:Cannot find hard drive

What was the name of the software?

It sounds as if it has wiped the drive.....use this to check if the disk/partitions still exist or have data on them:

I am trying to setup Windows XP on a Gateway Notebook MT6840.
After pressing Enter to start with Windoes setup, it gives the message :
"Set up did not find any hard drives installed in your computer".

This computer has Windows Vista pre-installed. I defined a new partition there, and that is where I want to install XP. Also , it has a SATA driver.
It only has CD Drive, no floppy Drive.

I know that during the setup, and before getting the message , you can press F6 to load SCSI/RAID controllers, i do not know if I have to press it, and then F2 for recovery. However, this computer only has CD Drive, no floppy Drive.

Any suggestion to fix this problem?

Thanks

Luis

This is a query about a NEC Versa Note laptop. It is 4 years old with lots of use and runs Windows 2000 and Linux. Recently got a message that it could not find its hard drive. The drive was replaced and it worked for a week or two and then the same
message. This time the hard drive was taken out and checked on another machine and the drive was fine.

The question is what is the likely cause of this problem and how should I remedy it?

I'll try to explain my situation the best i can.

A few weeks ago my laptop got a virus and after some works i got it to work fine again. I decided update the laptop's service pack. After installing it the laptop will not load as a it says "!!0xc0000034!! and because of this you cannot not access anything. From looking online the main advice is to reinstall the operating system. I am trying to do this with a XP installation CD but once it loads it tell me it cannot find a hard disk drive.

How solve this without being able to load the laptop fully?

Any help on how to solve this would be great and i am willing to answer questions in needed.

Thanks for reading,

Alex

A:Cannot find hard drive when reinstalling XP

Is that XP installation CD - SP1.
Is the HDD in the computer SATA.
If so therein lies the problem.
It may also apply if the CD is SP2.
Does the laptop have a floppy drive.
TRY THIS FIRST

1. On start up press F2 to enter BIOS

2. Expand the "Drives" section

3. Go to "SATA Operation"

4. Change this from "RAID Auto/AHCI" to "RAID Auto/ATA"

I am trying to reinstall windows 8, but when I do it says it can only find the MBR and that my disk isn't large enough.  My hard drive is 500GB and the partition says it is 14 and it can't find any other partitions or the rest of the hard drive.

I can only boot into the system using the disk (which I can get into a cmd prompt).

Any suggestions?   I came across this because my computer wouldn't load anymore and just keep scanning for disks for days.

Thanks in advance!

A:Can't find entire hard drive only MBR

WIth CMD on the windows 8 install disk, I ran diskpart and it only shows Disk 0 , Status: Online, Size 14 GB, Free 0B.  Nothing else.
