Computer freezes when playing CSGO

Q: Computer freezes when playing CSGO

Hi! I don't know if this is in the right thread but I have a problem. I play alot of CSGO. Recently my computer has started freezing after about 15-20 minutes. No other games do this, only CSGO. Heres my specs
CPU: AMD Phenom X4 965 3.41 GHz
GPU: Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 5850
RAM: 8.00GB
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
I check the GPU temps and it was around 77?. Is that too hot?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So sometimes i get these 1 second lags in csgo just randomly and if u play csgo, then you do understand that this is a annoying problem, like if u are spraying at someone then the lag just appears.
I just cleaned my pc from dust so its not that.
Should i check my temps while im playing?
Is there something wrong with my gpu or cpu?

I appreciate all answers!

A:Weird freezes playing CSGO

Hello Tkosj,

Have you tried doing a clean boot and running CS:GO? there could be something running in the background running that is interfering with your gaming? also do you have the latest GPU drivers for your nvidia graphics card? doing a scan with Malwarebytes and checking your temps wouldn't hurt .

Hey everyone, was referred to here from Reddit. Been having trouble the past two weeks. Random crashes during CSGO, thought it was my headset because it always said USB malfunctioned. Changed headset, mouse, keyboard everything, still crashed. Tried replacing my thermal paste on cpu, still crashed so it isn't temps. One of my RAM sticks died 3 weeks ago but I replaced it. Problem started after that but I ran Memtest and no issues. I've uploaded my zip as instructed. Also all of my drivers are up to date. Any help is appreciated, getting very annoyed by this after two weeks.

I've had this build for over a year and have been playing both CSGO and GTA with no problems for quite a while. The first BSOD came whilst using the shadow play feature that Nvidia offers. I turned shadow play off and did a fresh install of Nvidia Experience and updated the drivers for my GPU (Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 ti). This seemed to work for about a a day or two and then I had another BSOD. Since then I have been experiencing BSOD irregularly. Sometimes I can play any game for hours with no problem, other times I have BSOD as soon as I start the game up. I've checked for memory errors, updated the GPU driver, scanned for malware and I'm still at a loss. Would greatly appreciate any insight. Thank you

I installed a new monitor and problem starts when "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" issue constantly appears. So I updated my AMD Catalyst Control Center and the issue stopped. I tried playing a game (CSGO), then after a few minutes, BSOD occurs. Everytime i start windows normally, after a few minutes, BSOD will happen. I uninstalled my AMD CCC (including the display driver) then BSOD stopped. But when i reinstalled my everything, BSOD happens again and again. Need Help Thanks!

Hi, I'm new to this forum so apologies for not providing all relevant info right away.
The issue I'm having is that my computer will BSOD randomly while playing games such as CSGO, Civilization V and Europa Universalis IV. The time I play before a BSOD occurs seems random, although its usually before 30 minutes of gameplay.
In other instances, my computer simply turns off without warning, and then restarts itself without even presenting a BSOD. Attached is the BSOD file I've been instructed to upload. Any help would be much appreciated

If I need to provide any other details just say the word.

Hey all,

So lately in the past couple weeks outta nowhere I've been not being able to play CSGO because it will just crash and BSOD after a while of playing (like 10-30 minutes). However, while playing any other game like Overwatch or Rust it doesn't crash at all and the BSOD issue doesn't occur. So I just decided "fine, I won't play CSGO", but now it just happened whilst browsing the internet a couple weeks after CSGO bsod became a regular thing. I have the dump files and this is a formal request for help, so thanks to anyone that reads the files and can give me any info on what I can do. Thank you

Hey,

Ever since i got new RAM in my pc i've experienced random BSODS with random errors, lately it was quiet but recently when i started picking up on CSGO it kept coming back ( Note: it only occured reguraly on CSGO and no other game)

I understand that it could be an RAM stick gone bad but doesn't that seem odd to you? Since it's litteraly brand new ( and it's only one brand since the two came in a kit of 16 gb 2600MHZ)

To further help you understand the error, i'll paste the memory dump and a Bios screenshot of my memory.

My PC started crashing suddenly after installing Windows 10. I obviously thought it was fault of the OS so I reinstalled 7 Ultimate x64, yet the crashing kept on happening. I haven't done any changes to my PC and it's been stable for months. Last change was GTX970 in May. i5-3570K is overclocked to 4,4GHz but it's been rock solid so I doubt it's the cause of issues. I'm honestly completely out of explanations.

Setup: i5-3570K (4,4GHz @ 1,32V), MSI GTX970 (Stock, was OC'd before), ASRock Z77 Pro3, 2x4GB G.Skill Ripjaws 1600MHz, Samsung 840 Evo 250GB, Kingston 60GB SSD cant remember model, 1TB HDD.

From what I can tell, the issue shouldn't be GPU, Memory, PSU or SSD/HDD drives. I doubt my OC'd i5 would suddenly start acting up as it's been stable and temps have been good (I'm running AIO water). I'm pointing the finger towards motherboard as it's been acting up once in a while, but I'm not sure if that makes any sense.

I've tried:
Reinstalling clean Windows a few times - crashes and BSOD here and there keep on happening with nothing installed apart from standard drivers, Steam and CSGO.

Reinstalling Windows to another SSD - no effect.

Downgrading to 3 different Nvidia drivers and been using 353.30 - maybe little bit less crashes, no real effect

Running Memtest86 for 8 hours - 0 errors

Running 3Dmark on loop for 2 hours while overclocking the card - stable as a rock, TDP 110% so PSU should be fine

Taking another memorystick out - no effect

At first thank you for your time.
I am getting crashes when playing game like CSGO or when stress testing with prime 95(blend test/torture test threads =4).

While playing csgo it sometimes just freezes and then csgo isn't working anymore, if i then check the system log file i get WHEA warningslike: A corrected hardware error has occurred. Reported by component: Processor Core.
But sometimes it also freezes my whole pc and then when i check the windows-system logbook i see this error:

And when i Stress test with Prime 95, it will test like 5/10 minutes and my 4 cpu's get to 91 degrees C, and then it will crash. And on the next startup i have this error:

Hi,
I have recently played Counter Strike - Global Offensive and encountered a BSOD that never happened before. I'm running the latest Radeon Drivers 16.3.2 and played CsGo at windowed fullscreen mode if that matters. All spec same as in my profile info.

On some forums I have read that this can be RAM related, but I don't know for sure since the BSOD might obviously have many causes.

New fresh install of windows 8 updated to 8.1 with all my motherboard drivers etc up to date. Display drivers are the newest Omega drivers from AMD.

I installed steam and decided to install csgo to my ssd/C: drive since it's my most played game. Now I can play the game fine but after a short amount of time the game and display drivers will crash giving me a black screen and sound loop. I let it sit there for a while so I could get a bsod and crash dump to happen.

Since then I also updated my ssd to the latest firmware and reinstalled my AMD drivers and the problem still persists. I have no other games installed at the moment so if you wan't me to check if the crash happens with other games let me know.

First off, my computer has been overheating since the day i bought it, it would get so hot that the computer would shutdown. But i fixed that issue (or so thought) by opening up my case and placing a small fan inside. I have probably been playing wow on this computer for about a year now with no issues. Recently, after about 5 minutes of playing wow the game screen will freeze, I can move the mouse around still, but the keyboard / keyboard commands are un-responsive. And If i keep the computer on for a few minutes after it freezes it will eventually go to a black screen, and I'm forced to manually restart or shutdown. I'm about 75% sure its overheating issues. And if it is, should i get a new power supply? Or try to get a better cooling system? Not sure if this helps or not, but if I'm searching the web or listening to music or w.e, the computer could probably stay on for at least a half hour before freezing. And when i play wow, it usually freezes about 1-2 minutes after i log into WoW. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I am using XP Professional. Initially, I created a DVD, by backup WMV files from my laptop to an external DVD burner.

Whenever I played the WMVs using WMP on the laptop DVD drive, it freezes all applications. I had to eject the DVD from the laptop to continue working. It appears to be using up some kind of resource.

This DVD works OK, when I play it using the external DVD drive.

Do you have any suggestions on how to correct this problem?

I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this (I'm new here) but here I go.
Basically, anytime I try to play World of Warcraft, the whole computer freezes and I have to manually restart it. I think the computer would restart itself but I unchecked "Automatically restart" under the Startup and Recovery tab in Windows. I have an ATI Radeon 9800 pro and also unchecked "enable VPU recovery" from some advice i got somewhere else. The idea behind doing both of those is that it shouldnt have to do either of those in the first place if everything was working right. I'm kind of a noob at fixing problems so bare with me. I have a suspicion that my power supply is to blame but I'm really just guessing here. I have a 450W power supply that came with the case I bought so it might not be the best. I put the rest of my system specs in a .txt file (using Everest Home Edition) so you guys can see. Any help?

A:Computer freezes while playing WoW

welcome to techspot MrPoo (hehe),

it would be wise to replace that generic power supply regardless of whether or not it is the source of your problem. not only will it fail to provide it's 'rated' power output, but if it's on it's way out then it may take some other components out with it.

besides your PSU as a possible culprit, check your temps as well to make sure nothing is overheating.

cheers

Hello, when I play videos on my laptop in fullscreen mode it either freezes or the screen goes completely black and I have to press escape to get back to normal. When it freezes it is really bad because I can't even press ctrl+alt+del and I'm forced to take the battery out.

Also, when windows is loading I always get an error message. I'm not sure if it is related to the video problem. Here are the details of the error message:

See the end of this message for details on invoking

Hi,
My computer randomly freezes while playing games from SC2 to C&C and i don't know why its suddenly happening, it used to work just fine. When it freezes the screen just freezes the frame at the moment and the sound just buzzes. How is this happening!
OS: Win 7 64 bit
PSU: NZXT 600 W
RAM: 4 GB DDR2-SDRAM
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad, Q9300 @ 2.5GHz (4 CPUs)
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 5770
Motherboard: ASUS P5N-D
Chipset: nVidia nForce 750i SLI (C72P) + MCP51

A:Computer freezes while playing games!

When this happens, is it like the whole system (including OS) is stuck or just the game?

Please go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, and open Event Viewer, go through system/applications logs, and see whether you can find something which can help us get to the root of this issue. Especially look for the events marked with yellow/red icons.

Also, do you remember when exactly did this started to happen e.g. an driver update?

Whenever I play games, like Warcraft III or Half life, my computer will freeze. In Warcraft it freezes when starting the game and in Half life and other games when I leave a server. This has been happening only since I reinstalled my graphics card and installed new drivers. I have tried reinstalling the drivers and going back to old drivers and that doesn't work. I have already turned down the AGP speed to 4X speed from 8X speed because my Mother Board can't handle the 8X speed. I've also tried installing newer motherboard drivers. My computer specs are a Soyo K7VME Motherboard with a AMD XP 2600+ processor, 256 MB of DDR 333 Mhz ram, and a ATI Radeon 9500 Pro graphics card.

Alright so the issue seems to be getting worse, sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Usually i have to end up keep restarting the computer over and over after each lock-up until i finally get lucky and it doenst lock up. Sometimes it bluescreens me and sometimes it restarts the PC also. Rarely it will do it when not playing games.
I've tryed about everything i can think of doing that you would normally do when these problems first occur
I've cleaned out the PC, took vid card out then put back in, tryed new monitor, used advanced system care to clean my PC and registry up etc, nothing has helped so far.

Im starting to think something is wrong with the video card, altho my BIOS needs a update but i dont know if that has anything to do with this, and i really dont know how to update BIOS anyways. Could also be the power supply altho its 650 watts so idk, its not realy old neither only around a year or so
Im using Windows XP professinoal 32 BIT SP2
Video card is Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT if that is of any help
By the way overheating is not an issue, ive checked temperatures on most things in PC, and PC chip si running around 27 celcius-30 celicius always.

Any help is appreciated, thanks.

A:Computer freezes while playing games

First, we here at TechSpot strongly suggest you update to SP3.

Second, we also take the position that when it somes to the registry to leave it alone. More problems occur when the registry is touched than is ever fixed.

Third, please do the following...

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

Hey this is my first post, however this isn't a new problem concerning my computer.

It has become an annoying a frequent occurance on my computer. The problem is that whenever I play a game it will just freeze on screen *game picture will remain* and of course I will have to manually restart the computer. I have looked all over for a solution to this problem, in vain. I have run "dxdiag" "msconfig" in the Run menu, and i've tweaked with that every which way, and nothing has seemed to solve the problem. This has not always been an issue with my computer. When I first got my computer all games ran fine, without freezing. I have recently got my computer fixed, and restored, and I had them put in 256 MB Ram, along with my previous 256. However to my dismay when I started to play games the freezing continued.

The games I play are:
Battlefield: Vietnam
Counter Strike
Day of Defeat
Call Of Duty
Max Payne 2
Iron Storm
Soldier Of Fortune 2 *Demo, which was the first game to freeze*

I really have no idea what is wrong with my computer, and I love playing on-line games, so if anyone can suggest anything, it would be really appretiated!

P.S....I have also tryed a cleanboot of the system to get rid of all back- running programs, and it still continued to freeze.

First time posting. Not sure if I should put this in this section or the gaming one.

My PC keeps crashing every once in a while while playing a game. Usually during Battlefield: Bad Company 2, since I play that the most at this time. This happened a few time also in Batman Arkham Asylum. Doesn't happen when playing Portal 2 so far. All these games are Steam games that I've tried.

I have done everything I can by reinstalling graphic drivers, defrag hard drive, selective start up to see if it was a driver program, registry cleaning, CPU stress test, Memtest, and GPU stress test. Nothing is working. I did a stress tests to see if it was just my components are either over heating or being over stress for some reason but I never get a computer freeze when doing them for hours. I've done windows updates and it seems to work once i install new updates, but the next day I have the same problem.

I even went to reinstalling Windows 7... and of course didn't fix it.

My specs are the following
- AMD Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3GHz (stock clock, turbo boost turned off, core unlocker turned off)
- 6GB DDR3 GSkills Ripjaw 1600MHz (Had 8 but couldn't fit cause of cpu heatsink. Trying to buy a new heatsink for that one stick so I can have 8GB)
- 2x 1TB Western Digital Black Caviar HDD 6Gbs
- COUGAR CMX 1000W PSU
- 2x Sapphire AMD 6970 2GB Crossfired
- ASUS ROG Crosshair Formula IV Mobo

A:Computer freezes when playing a game

please go into your BIOS and post your voltages and temps.

Whilst you have a high wattage power supply it is a very low quality power supply so this could be a suspect.

There is no need for more than 4GB RAM unless you do high end video editing or use photoshop or virtual machines plus if your ddr3 is suppossed to all be matched then it may be that it is all supposed to be installed to work correctly.

I have a game called Journeyman Project 3: Legacy of time on a 750 Mhz AMD-Thunderbird computer with DirectX 8.0a installed. However, usually within 60 seconds of playing the game, the computer freezes. It did that before I installed DirectX 8.0a (yesterday) and after. Does anybody have any ideas?? I just played Riven for countless hours without having any problems.

The video card is a Guillemot Xentor 32 Mb TNT 2AG. I have never been able to play for more than about a minute. Even the demo included in the Riven package did that.

Thanks.

After playing a game for awhile my monitor will pixelate and put itself into powersave mode, and the PC will lock up. I have to shut the PC off with the power button and turn it back on with the power button. I've tried a new monitor, memory, hard drive, and bios upgrade. The only thing I haven't changed is the CPU, sound card, power supply, video card, or motherboard. I don't do any overclocking and the PC is running cool. Also, all drivers are current. This is the hardware I currently have;

Athlon 64 3400+ (newcastle)
MSI K8N NEO Platinum NForce 3
Maxtor 300 Gb SATA Diamond Max 10
2 X 512 OCZ EL PC3200
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS
OCZ 420 Watt Dual Adjustable Rail Power Supply
Windows Xp Pro with SP2
BFG 6800 GT

I noticed my 3.3 volt rail on my power supply is at 3.06. I heard it should really never be below 3.3. Could this be a cause?

Hey Guys,

I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 570. Its processor is AMD Athlon II X4 630 at 2.8 GHZ

Whenever I play games such as Call of Duty or FIFA 11, the screen falters and everything freezes. After a few seconds, the screen becomes a board of checkers in all the colors you can imagine.

I have tried calling Dell but their help is useless at best.

Is it my ATI Radeon 4200? Is it the actual screen?

I would really appreciate your help and ideas.

One more thing, a friend suggested I use the BurnIn test program and even during the running of the test, the same problem happened without finding out the results.

If I should simply buy a higher performance video card, let me know. Thanks for your help and ideas.

THe link below will show you a picture of what my screen looks like during this problem.

Some questions first....Is it a full tower? Do you have a PCIE slot? Do you have a decent(over 500 watts) power supply or the stock Psu?
Do you have any 6pin power connectors?

Hi, I'm hoping someone can solve this one for me, my computer works fine until I try to play a game, then it freezes, sometimes 5 minutes into the game and sometimes longer, but it will eventually freeze, it's becoming very frustrating, do you think it could be the graphics card because it only freezes when i try to play a game. thanks

also I should mention that my graphics card is a nvidia geforce 7600gt and was brought second hand, but worked fine when I first got it about 2 months ago.

So, for awhile now my computer has been freezing up when I play big games, like world of warcraft, lord of the rings online, etc.

When it freezes, nothing moves at all, and it makes a really wierd noise that differs from whatever i'm doing.

I've updated video drivers, sound drivers, cleaned out all the dust in the computer, tried playing with the side of the case off and nothing seems to be working.

A:Computer freezes up while playing games.

I had the same problem with my computer before. It turned out to be a bad power supply. It wasn't giving my graphic card and CPU enough power when I ran everything on full load. You can find a tool somewhere to see how much power you need. From what I see, you're computer not really a good gaming computer. You only have 2gig ram, 241mb dedicated graphic memory.

Hey 7Forums,

After my last graphics card has died on me (HD6850), I have been able to borrow a friends GFX Card (HD5770) and have been having a strange problem - this problem is not unique to my computer, it also was happening in his computer when using the same GFX Card.

Right on to the problem:
What happens is that the computer will be running just fine, until I open a game.
After opening a game it will run perfectly but then every minute of so it will freeze the whole computer for maybe 5-10 seconds. Whilst doing this the sound of hardware being removing and reinserting will play (the same sound that happens if you was to unplug and re insert a usb stick)
And then this will persist as long as I have the game open, closing the game makes the problem go away.
This has only been happening since using this GFX card, and want to know if these is anyway of fixing it.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

First of all, Hi
1. Are your video drivers up to date?
2. Are you using any DVI to VGA (or what ever) adapter?
3. Did you run a stress test with Furmark or any other software?

My computer freezes when ever it plays games or occasionally videos. I have done tests on the cpu, ram and graphics. Everything works fine until the graphics gets to the PhysX test then the computer freezes. It isn't overheating because it only gets to around 53 degrees when it freezes and on non-PhysX tests I can get it over 75 degrees and still run smoothly. The computer was knocked off the desk so I am wondering if I may have damaged the motherboard or graphics card. I put my mates graphics card in to see if that would make a difference and it would freeze on simple things like internet browsing.
I have an intel I7-3820, an asus p9x79 motherboard, a Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 graphics card and 8gb of DDR3 1600mhz RAM.

must be a problem with the graphic card,, sometimes intermittent problems wont just be about not show up any display but also things like that...
if it is still covers the warranty then have it replace,,,
