T430 does not receive sound from an audio cable (line in) connected to my church's sound mixer

Q: T430 does not receive sound from an audio cable (line in) connected to my church's sound mixer

Hi. The above header refers. How can I resolve this issue? I restarted the T430 with the audio cable left connected (as suggested by someone in an earlier post) and the issue is still present. The T430 prefers to pick sound from its in-built mic. Your quick assistance in helping me resolve this issue would be much appreciated. Thanks. MDi

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, Giulio: What I did for my dc7800 and dc7900 PC's which both use the same audio chip, was to install the Soundmax W7 driver from the support page. Restart the PC. Then enable the multi-streaming option in the control panel > Hardware & Sound > SoundMax AudioESP. Then go into the control panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices and select the PC speaker. You will also now have the recording tab.

Hi all,

I've been trying to fix my computer for the last 4days now and have trawled google and all the sites its led me to for what seems like forever. Anyway, heres the problem:

I do not have a separate sound card;
it is integral to the board (ASUS A8N SLI deluxe)

I had sound on Saturday morning, I fell asleep and someone else used my comp and when I woke up, no sound, no master volume in the system tray and no audio device detected.

When I try to play, from the hard drive, an mp3 or mpg, for example, I get no sound.
(I do get the video from the mpg or wav, etc.) I get:

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound
device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be
in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

When I try to play something from the RealTek player I get: "Cannot play back the
audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding.
(Error=80040256)"

From RealPlayer I get "Cannot open audio device. Another program may already be using
it. "

I have recieved this message: Cannot play back the audio stream: no audio hardware is available, or the hardware is not responding. (Error=80040256)

and also been told there is no audio mixer available.

From the Sounds and Audio Devices in the Control Panel I have all 3 elements (Sound
Playback, Sound Recording and MIDI....) in the audio tab as: No ........ Read more

If I'm understanding that you're talking about the Software Mixer, you may want to install in compatability mody for XP.
This is done by right clicking on the File and choose properties. From there, click on the compatability tab and check the
apropriate box. (Select XP Service Pack 2) This may solve the issue. It may also be that you want to run with visual theme

Windows 7 32-bit won't play sound.

Device Manager\Sound, video and game controllers\High Definition Audio Device ok.
Double click and window says:
High Definition Audio Device Properties\General: Device status says This device is working properly.

Speakers are plugged in and make a crackle when plugging in to correct holes.

Mystery?

A:Sound/Mixer icon has red cross. No Audio Output Device is installed.

If it's shown as "working properly" in the Device Manager, the speaker icon you have can also be because the sound is muted.

You show "High Definition Audio Device" rather than the actual sound device which suggests you have the generic Windows/Microsoft installed sound driver rather than the actual sound driver from the motherboard vendor. In many cases the generic Windows driver does not work or work correctly.

You can try and uninstall/reinstall by RIGHT clicking on the entry for the sound and then LEFT click "Uninstall" (DO NOT check the box to uninstall the drivers) then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the sound. This fixes a lot of flakey problems.

If the uninstall/reinstall does not fix it, the next step is to get the correct sound drivers and install them.

I am aware of right clicking the volume icon and clicking on "playback devices" to set defult the HDMI cable or TV. Unfortunaly, this is not visible even after enabling the disconnected and disabled devices. Please, anyone help so I can get the audio on my TV as well? As the title says, I've tried connecting my TV to my computer with an HDMI cable, and the video part works, but no sound plays. When I checked the list of playback devices, the TV appeared (as shown below), but it apparently cannot play sound.

I don't think I know anything beyond what I've posted, but if anyone could help me out with this, I would appreciate it.

Also, as a side note - I am completely unable to interact with any of these objects - I cannot set something as a default device; there is no response when I do it, and disabling the audio device only works until current sources of sound (like videos) are restarted.

A:when connected to lg monitor with hdmi cable i get no sound

The issue here is that HDMI cables, as the name indicates, carry audio signals to the monitor. Therefore if the monitor has no built in speakers then there will be no sound. If you have external speakers you can plug them into the audio out slot on the back of the monitor and the problem will be solved. However, if the screen does have built in speakers you need to go Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Manage Audio Devices and set either your headphone jack or the screen to be the default device. And then you ca pick which device the sound will play from. Either yourlaptop speakers or whateer speakers are plugged into the laptop or the Monitor and whatever speakers are plugged into the monitor

Create a folder on your desktop, cut and paste the file into it, then double click the file to decompress the archive. After decompression there is a readme text file with installation instructions.

This is frustrating because I want to watch movies on my TV through my laptop and get the feel of some surround sound through the HiFi speakers but it is not working!!!!

Please Help!

A:No sound to HiFi speakers when HDMI Cable Connected

The problem is not your PC but your TV and how it handles HDMI audio. There is nothing we can do for this, it is strictly an issue with your TV and how it routes audio internally (or to external devices).

I'm not quite sure where this belongs so apologies to the Admins if it should have been on a different board.

I've connected my laptop to my TV using a VGA cable as the laptop is too old to have an HDMI.

I've also got a 3.5mm audio cable for the sound. This is plugged into my Audio In on the TV and the Headphone Out socket on the laptop.

It was all working fine with the sound coming through the TV rather than tinny speakers on the laptop, but then my husband started messing about with the keyboard and now there is no sound from the TV. The only way we get sound is to unplug the audio cable.

Does anyone know of any toggle functionality on a Dell keyboard which may have switched off the sound through the audio cable?

Hi Coolman12 and welcome to the forum!

I did some digging regarding your Zalman ZM-RSSC, unfortunately zalman never released vista driver support for it. If you were able to make it work for Vista, you're chances to make it work for Windows 7, that pretty much tells you that you're out of luck

But there's probably one thing you might be able to do to make it work. Please try the Windows 7 Driver solution. It could be worth a shot.

I just solved my own problem and thought others might benefit, since I could not find the solution using internet search.

My Realtek HD Audio manager seemed to be creating an echo on my "Line In" audio signal. I had already set the 'environment' and 'equalizer' sound effects options to <None>, but the echo persisted. I found the problem seems that I was essentially duplicating the Line In audio stream.

The first "source" I found was the HD Audio manager. You can open the manager and view the 'Line In' tab - mine had a non-zero playback volume (the slider was NOT all the way to the left for zero playback). If you want output from the HD Manager, that makes sense.

I also found out a second Line In "source". It was in the 'Line In' properties settings where I had checked off the option to "Listen to this device." When I disabled that, the echo disappeared.

To view this 'Line In' properties tab, right-click on the speaker icon in the notification area, then select Recording Devices (yes, "Recording"). Then, the tab will display in a window with the title 'Sound'. You should see the Line In device in the list. Right-click on this item and select Properties. The 'Line In' properties window pops up. Then select the 'Listen' tab. UNselect 'Listen to this device'. The echo should disappear if you're experiencing my ... Read more

Windows 7 Enterprise x64 Bit

Every once in a while, sound starts playing on my computer. When I open up the mixer it shows an application alongside all the other programs I have open, but it is labeled "Name Not Available". The sound is always some kind of ad.There is nothing unusual that I can see under Application or Processes in the task manager. The only change I have made to my computer recently is that I downloaded DivX Player, and I have since uninstalled it.

I've tried Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, IOBit, Kaspersky TDSS Killer, and Super Anti Spyware, but none find anything.

Hello it appears you have a protected Bootkit. It will need to be properly removed so you do not lose your system. So I think we should get a deeper look. Please follow this Preparation Guide and post in a new topic. If Gmer won't run, skip it.Let me know if all went well.

Hey everyone, need some help with this problem...I've left it alone for awhile but it's just getting too annoying.

So, when I start up my computer, everything is fine...Until I open the internet that is. After a minute or two a random channel appears in my volume mixer with the title "name not available." It plays odd things from something like a generic radio show to t.v. shows and I have no idea what is causing it.

I saw the thread on prep work for this type of topic so here are the logs from DDS

I have not included a GMER log because it was not working correctly.

Hello. Ever since yesterday I've been having strange sounds coming from my computer. It's garbled and laggy sound coming out of something called Name Not Available in the sound mixer. It sounds like a woman trying to speak but it's so distorted and laggy there's not way to tell what she's saying. I googled around and found that I might need to mess with a registry editor. I'm not all that good with that so I'd rather get help from someone who knows more about computers than me. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.

A:Name Not Available in sound mixer?

Hi Talishi,

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
 rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.
A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
Do not reboot until instructed.
If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
After the tool has finished running, a text file named Rkill.txt should be located on the desktop. Please copy and paste the contents into your next reply.

Hello, recently i saw something at my Windows 7 sound mixer called "Name Not Available". It looked like a program which had sound but there was no programs associated with it(i even checked processes with processexplorer, everythings fine) nor it made sound. At first i thought it was a malware but after a scan with Avast(full comp scan, everything at high, nothing at results) and restart it disappeared. The thing is i never saw something like it. While this thing was happening i was playing yugioh pro with my cousin which is a clean program since i thought that was the source of it. Did i get infected or is it a Windows bug, etc.?

So heres what i want to do...
I have a mic input port on my laptop along with my webcam which has a microphone built into it (logitech quickcam pro 9000) and also windows XP SP2 pro
What i want to do is to take the audio feed from the webcam and the audio feed from the mic input and merge them into 1 feed for recording, so basically i will need a virtual input to which i can put both these inputs to...
ex: (other situation with video) I have 2 video feeds go into my laptop... a capture card and my webcam... im able to pop them into this program called WebcamMax and it will output a third video feed called WebcamMaxVideoFeed which will contain my webcam and any special effects i want (such as putting in the feed from my capture card in the corner) so if i want to show people on msn my webcam along with something im capturing i am able to select the webcamMax feed and they can see whatever feeds i want to show them at the same time...
I want to do this exact same scenario but with audio...

Inquiry: Does anyone know of any software out there that will do this?
One last thought:
Windows XP and my audio drivers on my laptop (RealTek) already seem to do this but only with the audio lines that my soundcard originally had equiped on the laptop (Front micJak, built in Mic and Stereo Mix) if i plug in my webcam, it will know theres another microphone there (i can select it from my microphone list on msn messenger and any other program with simmilar tasks) but it will now show up... Hi,
Earlier today  noticed something called 'name not available' in my sound mixer. I've done some research and it look like it's an infection? Any tips on how to get rid of this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, sponge

Is it an active channel? Are you hearing what sounds like a radio station? If so, head over to Am I infected? forum. Good Luck.

I know, this isn't a computer question, but maybe y'all can help. I have a Radio Shack sound mixer that I know works but that I'm having trouble hooking up properly to my stereo receiver. I don't have a manual for either so this is frustrating. Also, if there are no jacks labeled "auxiliary" on the back of the stereo, which jacks are in fact to be used as auxiliary? Thanks.

A:Sound Mixer?

anyone?

lets put it this way. ustream lets you choose only 1 audio device, Aux, SterioMix, and Microphone.
For my sound I use sterio mix, but I want Microphone too.

Anyway I can mix them into one?
