Preferred Solution: How much memory can i fit in a Tecra M10-1CN?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: How much memory can i fit in a Tecra M10-1CN?

Hi

The memory expand possibility depends on the chipset of the motherboard
The Tecra M10 supports the Mobile Intel(R) GM45 Express chipset? and this chipset supports max DDR2 800MHz 8GB RAM

So first of all you can use 2 x 4GB RAM modules and secondly the memory speed is limited to 800MHZ.

Even if you would use faster modules i.e. 1033Mhz the FSB would clock down the speed to 800Mhz? so it?s not worth to use faster modules than DDR2 800Mhz

Hi All,

Have ordered some RAM to upgrade my Toshiba Tecra Z40-A, but can't for the life of me find anything online of where to insert it.

I have installed RAM previously under the keyboard (couple of clips holding it in) and on others, a small covering on the bottom, but the Z40 doesn't seem to have anywhere easily accessible.

Has anyone upgraded RAM on the Z40? Or is this a big no no, due to warranty?

Thanks,
Lance

A:Tecra Z40-A - Upgrading Memory (RAM)

Memory upgrade on this Tecra model is a bit complicated and, I think, should not be done by notebook owner. For some models Ram upgrade can be done by notebook owner and exact instructions how to do this is offered in user?s manuals document, but not for your Tecra.

For full access to RAM modules bottom cover must be removed and it can be done by service people only. If you do this alone you can cancel valid warranty.
I recommend you to contact nearest Toshiba service provider in your country and ask for help or advice.

Hi all
This is my first post here - so greetings to all.
This problem is about memory compatibility with several Tecra A11 laptops.
I have two - a A11-12F, and a A11-1F4.
Both computers run well with a pair of Kingston 1333 2x2gb=4gb ram sticks.
Recently I have bought two separate pairs of 2x4gb sticks - neither works - both reboot after seconds, and they don't get more than 10 seconds into memtest before rebooting.
The first pair - which I had bought but now returned - were Samsung 1600 2x4gb. I don't have the model number because they are now sent back. I thought they were too fast or incompatible.
So I bought a pair of Kingston 1333 KTD-L3BS/4G - hoping they would run because my other Kingston 1333 sticks work (even though the Toshiba specs say 1066). Again they did the crashing and rebooting after seconds.
What are the varibles here?
I can't get these specs from Toshiba, and various ram sites like MrMemory or Crucial recommend different things:
1.35v or 1.5v?
C11 or C9?
R1 or R2 (what kinds of chip layouts on the sticks?)
I thought it might be bios - maybe they can't recognise 8gb - but I have having trouble with the Windows-based bios updater, and it didn't work.
I am a bit perturbed now, because I have now bought 2 separate memory pairs, and I really thought the Kingstons would work.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Please don't simply recommend that I buy memory of a Toshiba part number, because I'm sure a major-brand ram will work.

It looks like the Tecra 8200 would support max. 512MB and you could use the 144-Pin PC133 SODIMM or 144-Pin PC100 SODIMM memory modules!

A:Tecra 8100 not seeing all installed memory

You cannot force anything. Either it works or not.
Try to start notebook with RAM placed in slot B only.

Anyway, if you use compatible RAMs and if this was worked before I believe slot B is defective.

For my opinion the computer should boot again when I remove the broken memory slice?

Hi

You can remove easily the memory modules.
I think the bay is placed at the bottom of the unit.
You have to remove the screw securing the bay and you will get a access to the module.

Here is a video how to do this on another notebook Satellite L500. But the procedure is not very different on Tecra R10

Hello,

I jsut installed 4GB of RAM on my Tecra A9 PTS52E; but Windows 7 tells me it can only use 2.99 GB of RAM. In order to get more out of the memory I read that I have to enable "memory remapping" in my BIOS. But where do I find that? I have BIOS version 2.10-WIN installed... If I'm not mistaken this is the most recent version for my model...?

Thanks,

Jan

A:Tecra A9 PTS52E - Enable BIOS memory remapping

If you installed 32bit Windows 7, you won't get more than 3GB due to 32bit addressing limitations.

If you have 64bit Windows 7, the 1GB is probably being used by the graphics chip (GPU) as Video RAM.

My Tecra R850-11U has 8GB (2x 4GB) memory inside. I am running W7 professional 64bit and the machine only shows 4GB as memory.

I allready upgraded the bios, but the bios also shows 4GB. I have 2 banks of original samsung memory in it; changed one to an kingston bank but it still doesn't show more than 4GB.

How can i solve this problem?? I like full memory

A:Tecra R850-11U doesn't recognise full memory

The chipset supports 8GB RAM so you should be able to use the 8GB.
But if the BIOS does not recognize the 8GB RAM then one of the modules could be faulty or not compatible with another module.

This is only and one plausible explanation for me

Hello all

I need help with some issue:
My system says that I have 2,66GB RAM available for applications, services etc. The rest of it (between 1,1 and 1,3 GB RAM) is shared and reserved for the graphic card. I searched for a way to reduce it via BIOS (how it normally works), tried an update for the bios hopping that it would add this feature. But that wasn't the case.

I can't understand why Toshiba doesn't allow his customers to modifity this setting!
I can understand to put such a setting by default, but also giving an option for advanced users to modifiy this setting.

2,66GB RAM are not very much and I often need more than that... 500MB more RAM for sys would be really nice.
And 64bit OSs are currently not supported in our company.

So does anyone know a way to reduce the shared memory to e.g. 500MB?

My system specs:

Windows 7 Pro SP1 (32bit)
Modell: TECRA R850
Serialno.: 7B042670H
Partno.: PT525E-03E00KGR

Thanks in advanced for your answers!

A:Tecra R850 - How can I reduce the shared memory of the graphic card?

As far as I know shared memory works automatically and notebook user cannot control it.
It is nothing new and the same principle is on all Toshiba notebooks.

A:Can I use Tecra A10 OS disk to install OS on Tecra M10?

At first I must say that Toshiba recovery image is created for each notebook model separately and it is 100% created to work on specific model. Why?
Every notebook model has different hardware platform and all drivers, tools and utilities for certain model are part of recovery image. These recovery images are also tested.

Generally speaking if both models have identical hardware platform (hardware parts) it can be used.

A:Difference between Tecra A10 and Tecra M10

Of course the both notebooks are different.
There are different Tecra A10 models and there are different Tecra M10 units.

For example:
Tecra *A10-13B* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo P8400 2,26 GHz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset.

Tecra *A10-1D2* supports an Intel Core 2 Duo T9600 2.80Ghz CPU and Intel GM45 chipset

You can find details about different discontinued notebook models here:

Hi,

I'm trying one of this popular caddy's that allows me to put a second hard drive in the optical slot bay, I use a Sata to Sata adapter, so there is not really an adapter besides connecting properly:

[http://www.akasa.co.uk/update.php?tpl=product/product.detail.tpl&no=181&type=Enclosures&type_sub =2.5%20Enclosure&model=AK-OA2SSA-BK]

My problem is with Toshiba BIOS that is expecting a ODD device in that Sata port and cames out with a "CD-ROM error", disabling the Sata port.

I have a workaround, if I start the PC, after BIOS post with anything in ODD bay, after starting Windows, I insert the second HDD in the ODD bay, go to "Windows Device Manager" do a "Check for hardware changes" and voil?, the second HDD is working fine, to me this proves a BIOS limitation.

Is there any help, a Beta BIOS or something else, I have the last BIOS 3.00 for this machine installed.

Ok, I though similar issues with Win XP on other notebooks with new HD audio from Realtek.
The point is that you need SP2 and SP3!

The SP2 and SP3 provides important fixes and patches for HD audio?
So first of all uninstall the installed Realtek audio driver.
Then install the SP2 and SP3.
Then go to the device manager and delete the devices marked with yellow exclamation mark.
Then reboot the notebook.
Now Win XP should found a new audio device and should ask for the driver.
No you should install the sound driver from Realtek.
Reboot once again? and now the sound should works fine?

Do you think it's possible.
Will I have some drivers dysfonction?

Thanks for answer !!

A:Tecra A11 - Win XP and Win 98 multiboot

Well, Win XP installation should not be a big problem because the Win XP drivers seem to be available on Toshiba European driver page.

But Win 98 might be a problem here since its not supported and the drivers are not available? you will need to search for such drivers at your hand and I think this might be a painful time? I doubt you will be able to get Win 98 drivers because this OS is really, really old.

I would recommend installing the Win 98 only using Virtual Machine (VM) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine
or Virtual PC
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_Virtual_PC

This is very easy? running Win XP you can open virtual PC or VM and could start the Win 98

A:How to reinstall my Tecra M11-103?

Hi

According notebook specification your Tecra was delivered with preinstalled WIN7 64BIT PROFESSIONAL and you got additional WXP DVD. Original Win7 recovery image was saved on HDD and using preinstalled Toshiba recovery media creator you have had possibility to back-up recovery image and create bootable recovery installation disc.
How it works is described in user?s manuals document.

I don?t know if you have created this disc but now after WXP installation you need this recovery disc. Of course, if you want to have ?factory settings?, you need this disc. Other way, you can obtain Microsoft installation disc and install Win7. All necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find and download from Toshiba download page.

I hope you understand the situation but if you have more questions you are welcome.

Thanks

A:Tecra Z50 - mSATA SDD + 2.5'' HDD?

Well, some models are are equipped with an mSATA Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a
hard disk drive. The computer seems to supports a 128GB, 256GB and 512GB SSD drives?

but as far as I know there is only one SATA controller in order to connect SSD or an HDD.
The mSATA SSD drive is connected to the controller using mSATA HOLDER ASSY.

So such holder assy is needed if you want to use an mSATA SSD drive.
Of course, you don?t need it if you use common 2.5? SSD drive or 2.5? HDD

Hi!

I'm in a bit of a dilemma. The current Tecra Z50 is extremely close to what I want in a notebook but the thing is, I currently don't really need it and I don't have the time to set it up. So I would buy one and have it lying around until late summer.

If I get one now and there's a new model out in summer, which I like even better, I would be very disappointed but on the other hand if I want to buy one in the summer and there's a new one with less connectors, a glossy screen with one of those extremely high resolutions or maybe without the pointing stick, it would be even worse!

So the question is: What can I expect from the Tecra Z50 in the future? I know that I probably won't get the information I need but I still had to post this.

Thanks!

A:The future of the Tecra Z50?

Future of Tecra Z50?
From my experience, Toshiba releases different notebook series within short spaces of time.
In most cases this applies to the ?everyday home? models like Satellite models.

The product life cycle of notebooks belonging to business segment like for example Tecra or Portege series is much longer? so from my point of few the Tecra Z50 should be available in the next couple of month.

But even if new models would be released, I think that older models should be still provided by some online dealers?

I can by entering F12 in a new startup procedure change to startup via CD rom, but this also has no effect.

Also it is not possible to enter the bios (esc + F1).

The keyboard is functioning because, after a while every touch result is a short " beep" .

I have removed the battery for a while and tried again with no result.

Can I put my laptop by the trash ore is there a possibility to bring it to live again

Thanks in advance, Jos

A:Re: Tecra S5 does not boot at all

On this virtual way it is not easy to offer some exact diagnostic but somehow I feel BIOS is screwed up.
Disconnect AC adapter, remove battery and press power button for 20 seconds. After doing this connect AC power supply only and start your notebook again.

I don't have this notebook model and I?m not sure about entering BIOS but try also with F2.

Good afternoon,

I have a toshiba tecra s11-128 with broken lcd panel.
This model have a lcd screen with 1366*768 resolution.

The same series (example: S11-11d) was also equipped with the HD+ (1600*900) lcd screen

Can i replace it with HD+ lcd panel (1600*900 resolution)?

Thanks for any replies.

A:Tecra S11 - broken LCD

You are right. both models have different LCD displays but the same graphic card. I cannot say for sure but I’m pretty sure that you can use HD+ display with your notebook.

Hey all,

I have a Tecra S11 which was updraded to Win 10. I want to revert it to out of the box state, with new HDD.
I managed to make a recovery USB flash with the Toshiba software (it was the only option, no DVD option).
Now when I boot from the USB and select the recovery wizard, it asks to insert the recovery media 1.

Do I have a solution to recover it using the USB flash?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Florin

My TECRA A7 has a 100GB HD and I wonder if I can replace it for a larger one.
Is it possible and what should I do?

Thanks for any help

A:HDD upgrade on Tecra A7

Hello

Your Tecra has SATA HDD connector so it should not be problematic to use HDD with higher capacity.
I don?t know which one you want to use but HDD between 200 and 300 GB should be good enough for upgrade.

What do you think about that?

Hi, I've a Tecra that came with Win Pro 7 Sp1 that was upgraded with supplied Recovery DVDs to Win 8 Pro and subsequently online to 8.1 and Win 10.
Win 8 and 8.1 ran fine but with so many problems on Win 10, I eventually went for "scratch" install with the recovery Win 8 DVDs.

Zapped the entire HDD using the Recovery DVDs but finally get the following msg after Win 8 had been re-installed: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computer"
Ran "MSoobe" , as recommended on other forums and while this advanced the process, Windows ultimately did not run.

Any ideas anyone?
Thanks - davidtjm

Does any one see any problems swapping out the 160GB HDD for a 1TB HDD i have already partitioned/formatted and installed XP PRO on the 1 TB HDD in my Satellite M-105 and it is working fine in there but would prefer it in the faster newer TECRA Laptop.

Thanks

A:Tecra M10 - HDD upgrade

Hi

I think this should not be a big problem since the SATA controller should handle the 1TB HDD.

You can test it using the HDD from the M105? the replacement is not difficult and both units M105 and M10 supports the same SATA HDD.

We have recently purchased 4 new m10 laptops with the intel graphics

We wanted to have dual monitors using a port replicator but it has come to our attention that the intel graphics is unable to display DVI

We were wondering if there was any way around this issue? Without having to buy a new laptop.

For example is it possible at all to upgrade the graphics card?

Thanks

A:Tecra M10 - how to display DVI?

Generally speaking graphic card upgrade on notebooks is not supported and I think not possible. http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB9401AX0001R01.htm

Back to your problem:
In user?s manuals is written
As the port operation of all DVI (Digital Visual interface) monitors has not been confirmed, some DVI monitors may not function properly.

Page 86.

Have you tested it with different monitors? I mean from different manufacturers?

Hi all,

This is a problem I have been facing for about one month.
I've already asked help to the Microsoft support and I manage to circumstance the problem, unfortunately without being able to solve it.
The problem is the following:

Every time I plug an external hard drive via USB I am asked to format it before using it. This of course I do not want to do. This problem appeared all of a sudden, before everything was working perfectly.

My external hard drives work perfectly in other enclosures namely other laptops.

Additionally, if I reboot Windows 7 in the "safe mode" I can connect the external hard drives via USB without problems. It appears it is something I've got recently which is conflicting to my external hard drives.

Could it be any Toshiba update? Do you have any idea about things I could try to locate the problem?

I thank you in advance.
Cheers
Andrea

Hi,

I have recently bought a Tecra M7 off a friend who had neglected it. It has been lying around for over a year with a broken power port. As a result of this he has lost all the discs and the pen!

I have upgraded the ram and have a 120 gig HDD that I would like to put in it but as I do not have any of the discs this is going to cause me a problem.
I have downloaded all the drivers I need from the toshiba website but am in need of the OS.

Is there any way for me to get the XP tablet edition 2005 which is already on it without having to pay a rediculous amount for a brand new copy?
Is it possible to transfer winows from 1 HDD to another? Also does anyone no where I can get 1 of the pens from?
I have looked about on the internet and can't seem to find any!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Jay

A:Tecra M7: Where to get Win XP Edit?

Hi mate

I?m not quite sure if you will be able to order such disk for this notebook.
In some cases this is not possible if the notebook series has been discontinued.
But check this page:
http://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

Usually you could order the recovery disks there.
But if it?s not possible, then you will need to install the Windows using an Microsoft disk!
The necessary drivers could be found on the Toshiba European driver page:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/

Note: you have to choose Archive in the driver download form in order to find the Tecra M7 series.

>Also does anyone no where I can get 1 of the pens from?
I think all parts could be ordered from local Toshiba ASP

I have Toshiba Tecra M7-132

I would like to improve everything possible

I want to increase the amount of RAM in my laptop but I do not know does my laptop can handle the memory faster than DDR2 533. I have Windows XP Tablet 32bit, I know it will handle only about 3.5 GB of RAM but it's better than 3 GB

I also want to change the hard drive. My current drive is HTS541080G9SA00 Hitachi, 80 GB, 5400 rpm SATA . Will it run with a bigger hard drive with speed 7200 rpm?

I installed all the most recent official drivers and BIOS

What else I can improve

A:How I can improve my Tecra M7?

Hello

According the specifications of Tecra M7-132 on Toshiba page it supports up to 4GB RAM but all 32bit OS support only up to 3.2GB RAM and for Windows XP 2GB is more than enough because it doesn?t need much RAM capacity.
The specification for RAM is DDR2-667.

Regarding the HDD: Larger HDDs are no problem because there is no capacity limit on SATA interface. That means you can also install 500GB HDD or larger. Only important is that you buy a 2.5? HDD with SATA interface.
Also 7200rpm shouldn?t be a problem but they creating more heat and need more battery power. Usually 5400rpm are enough and quieter.
