Preferred Solution: I can't find system information tool in windows 8.1 proffesional , I look in search but whithout results

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: I can't find system information tool in windows 8.1 proffesional , I look in search but whithout results

I type in search box system information but it gives me only the system tool and information about system information only.

Confirmed. I suspect that the option to enable Administrator tools to show up in a search needs to be re-allowed but I can't find it any more. It always was somewhat obscure...

Wow. Is this really WAD? Win-W Admin tools only opens Administrative Tools in FE and System Information (msinfo32.exe) can be used from there.
Even stranger, msinfo32 is only found using Everywhere? Not in Files? And I had to type that much, nothing less?
I can't remember if it was ever in Win-X but it isn't now.

FWIW I can still find msinfo32.exe via Run... so I haven't missed this so far. <eg>

Just wanted to take a minute to say "THANKS!" to whomever posted that link for the Systems Information for Windows tool during the last week or so. I should have done this right away, but I tend to procrastinate .IMO, it's a great tool, providing all sorts of useful info about a system that knowledgeable and less-knowledgeable computer users can find useful at some time.http://www.gtopala.com/Louis

Hi guys,
I've got a problem, and I thing that this is my last hope...
I currently own a HP dv8000 notebook:
- 1.86 dual core
- 2gb ram
- 250gb WD 5400rpm HD
- Windows Vista Bussines SP1
- Office 2007
- Stripped AVG 8.0
- Firefox 3
- winamp 5.21 lite,
- Nero 8 Lite,
- Adobe Audition CS3
- Adobe Masters Collection CS3
- Cc cleaner
- Tuneup Utillities 2008
(These are the main programs that are used.)

Their have always been problems with this notebook, even in Win Xp Pro Sp2. But now the notebook seemed to have no issues anymore. That was untill a couple of weeks ago. So everyting really ran smooth, booting, shutting down, surfing, listening to audio streams. Untill, the system completely hanged for like just one second (including freezing mouse, keyboard, audio stream just skipped). And a couple of seconds later again, again and again. It's just randomly. And it's driving me insane.
The only thing I can see, is that in the CPU/ Memory meter in the sidebar CPU 1 just jumps from 100%, and this also for just one second.
I've tried disabling AVG, elimated processes turning down services. Also tried turning of the wifi module, of just not conneceting to any LAN of Wifi. Still, no use. It all has no use. Even when I don't touch the computer, I hear the audiostream randomly skipping.
One last example, when i started writing this thread, the notebook randomly/contiously had the one-second freezing problem. No, when I'm writing the last word, the notebook ... Read more

Piriform, the creators of the useful CCleaner tool, have released a light-weight system information utility named Speccy. Ever wondered what type of memory is installed in your computer (size, specification and speed)? The System Information Tool in Windows (msinfo32) doesn?t give you that much details.

Speccy gives details about the Operating System installed, specifications of the Processor, Memory, Motherboard, Audio, Video, Optical Drives etc, installed in your PC. It also shows the CPU and Hard disk temperature.

Browser redirects (IE and FF) from search results, seemingly started with removal of 'Security Tool'. I think I got rid of Security Tool but not sure if done correctly.

I also had a weird thing when moving emails within Outlook Express where most of them disappeared, BUT they are still in online email and I have not started OE since for fear of loosing emails; not sure if related or not.

Pretty much what I explain in opening, I also sometimes see when I try to browse back from one of the redirected pages, thinking it will go to the search results page that it goes to some other page as well, maybe that as the last redirected-to page?
concerned
Anyway. There does not seem to be a common page that I get redirected to like I see in some posts, seems random and sometimes (very very rarely and seems more at the first selected pages) it will go to the page it is supposed to.

Please help, we have done regular financial transactions online (not since noticing this, or the 'Security Tool') and I am very concerned.

Thank you.

I use Hyena and ADS to administrate user accounts and mailboxes on a Windows 2000 client and Office XP.

When I search for results, I can't export them as text. Hyena allows me to copy and paste filtered result, but I can't do this on a container. None of the queries in Hyena seem to connect to the container that I want.

Does anyone know of a third party tool that will allow me to filter and list ANY resource and export the results into Excel or Access?

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I saw a few threads regarding the System File Checker Tool. As my computer has crashed recently, I decided to use the System File Checker Tool to fix corrupted windows files.

The results stated that there are corrupted files but it can't fix some of them. I went to look through the CBS log but I didn't find any lines that stated it couldn't repair the file. I run the tool 3 times.

I've attached the CBS log file. Please help. Thank you!

A:Problem with System File Checker Tool Results

Hello gibernau,

Welcome to Seven forums for starters. I would like to add some suggestions in this case. When SFC scan locates corruption
and states that it can not fix some of the corruption. In good practice is to run a check disk on the Mach. to
further address the issues the system is experiencing.
Check disk can be performed in the following manner(s):

Quick Link to Steps: ( Via windows explorer)
Disk Check

Under Command Line:
In Start menu> under search for programs or files:
Type CMD> cmd.exe will appear above in the Search>right click
and in the drop down Menu choose Run As Administrator>
Allow through UAC(User Account Control) Windows Command line will Appear.
There at the Flashing Cursor Please type chkdsk (space) /r
and tap Enter. it will advise of the type of file system running (NTFS)
as well as inform the system is in use and can not perform Task.
In a moment after it will ask to perform this task at the next reboot
y/n tap y then enter. it will advise that the system will checked next time the system starts.
close out CMD and reboot the computer. the chkdsk will start on its own
(*note to cancel at start ) tap any Key with in the count down timer to resume booting to Windows.
this will check the disk for errors 5/5 will be performed/
depending on issue and speed of Mach. could take up to an hour or more.

See how that works on the issue you are having.
I will Leave it up to Forum Monitors to address the CBS log File,as... Read more

On every few google searches on firefox (I run Vista) "click find search" highjacks the search. I downloaded and ran malwarebytes program already. There was another search engine highjacker that no longer runs now, but "click find search" has taken its place.

Hello!
First I'm happy to found a way, if Search don't react.
If I stop the service 'Windows Search' I have the items in File Explorer.
(Restart of the service often brings no result, it works, only if I stop the service .)
Is there a easier way to get find results?
This with 8.1 Prof 64 bit

A:Windows Search in File Explorer brings results, if I stop Windows Search service

Now with Windows 10 Windows Search works for me.
The specialty on my configuration was and is,
that data like documents and pictures are located
on the conventional hard drive. Other files are on SSD.
It was necessary to release the folders normally used from ?quick access? in file explorer and to add the really used data folders.
To have also the common access to the data folders I created  junctions with
e.g.
cd /D C:\Users\mine
mklink  /J  Pictures  H:\Users\mine\Pictures
But normally, now I use the items of the newly configured ?quick access? in file explorer.

Thanks all for communicate

Hi

Can anyone suggest how to speed up my windows search results?

When I click on the start button the initial results appear as fast as I can type. But this only applies to Settings and Programs. It is currently taking over 10 seconds for the first file name to appear!

Worse, nothing is cached - so if I want to do another, similar search a few seconds later, it STILL takes 10 seconds before the first filename appears.

Background
- Most of my documents live in a directory in the root directory called "docs" (e.g. 3.5GB)
- I have 98GB of free space on my hard drive (SSD)
- I have c. 11GB of Outlook emails as .PST files (Outlook 2013)
- I have c. 5GB of emails in an .OST file.
- I have some about 5GB of files in DropBox too.

- My system: Motherboard: Intel DP55WB (MA TX)
Processor: Intel Core I5 750 2.66GHz
RAM: 8GB = (2GB 1066 DDR3 Memory) x4 modules
Hard disk: SSD 300GB, "INTEL SSDSA2CW300G3 ATA Device"
Graphics card: ATI Radeon HD 5770 - S/n: 7 78656 05291 8
Operating system: Windows7 Pro 64Bit

I rebuilt the Window's search index a few weeks ago but it didn't help speed things up.
In desperation I sometimes still use the desktop search called "Everything" (from VoidTools) ("Version 1.3.4.686 (x64)") which is extremely fast and light on resources and only searches file names. However it appears the author has given up developing it at it keeps crashing.

Hi,

I was infected with something called AntiVirus System Pro a couple of weeks ago, that tried to trick me into buying it, by taking over my PC with fake system scans, pop-ups, etc. I got rid of the really annoying parts by running MalewareBytes' AntiMalware program. But it's not really gone, because it continues to hijack my search results from Google, Bing, etc - when I click on a result, it reroutes me to a fake website. I also still get pop-ups occasionally.

If anyone could help me, I would greatly appreciated. My PC seems to be getting slower and slower because of this.

Here is my DDS.txt - the other two logs are attached:

Hi duduc,
The benefits or otherwise of using registry cleaners / registry fixers elicits mixed views. Hopefully this link will illustrate this:

http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000643.html

However, everyone is agreed that before going down this route - should one choose to - a full back-up beforehand is vital.

I'm sure others will also post their views but I hope my contribution has helped you?

I am running Windows 7 64-bit.

I previously had a similar problem, but because I was under my two week return policy, I just swapped for a new computer.

This started about three days ago. I have my computer set to sleep after 15 minutes, but this problem usually arises when I close my computer lid for a more extended period - over night or when I am at work.

When I open the laptop to start it up, upon resume the computer gives the failed to shut down message and attempts to repair the problem, which takes roughly 10 minutes, after which my computer restarts. When it does, My Norton Security installs a bunch of updates and and also pops up messages that tell me I have turned off security(the Norton window is all red, po-ups in the bottom right of my screen). After the updates, the computer would seem fine(until the next extended period with the lid closed). The last time, Norton gave a message saying that it experienced some error and prompted me to download a tool for the Norton website to uninstall and reinstall the program, which I did.

Now tonight, I noticed while searching on Google, that a ton of my results are redirecting, including when I Googled this site. I am assuming I have some type of virus/malware.

I do have a Windows Repair Disc that I made a while ago.

Now the logs:

When I "search my stuff" from the start menu, some files that I know to be indexed never show up in the results. And at the top of the search window, it reads: "These results may be incomplete, search is still indexing your stuff."

I've rebuilt the search index, which says it finished successfully, indexing 3000-something items, but the problem remains.

Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone had any idea into a slightly annoying reason that is somewhat perplexing me. Occasionaly when I load my machine windows (after asking me to log in with my password) loads a default desktop almost as if it cannot find my user specific desktop.

This issue only happens occasionally and simply requires rebooting two or three times to fix but it always seems to happen at the most annoying of times, ( of course) I was just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to why this happens or if there is a resolution. I am dule booting Windows 7 Pro with Ubuntu using Grep (just incase that makes a difference)

Any help you guys could offer I would really appreciate it.

For reasons that I do not yet know, I suddenly have two similar problems on two different programs using different operating systems.

Problem 1:

I was trying to rip some cds to mp3, and Windows Media Player 11 cannot retrieve the id3 tags online. I click on "Find album information" and it brings up a mini-browser window of sorts that looks as though it's searching, but nothing comes up. It's waiting for a server to respond or something.

I went ahead and just typed up the information manually and ripped the first cd, but I had two more to go, and, not having patience, I ripped the next two in iTunes .

Then I copied the files to my Ubuntu machine and...

Problem 2:

Since iTunes evidently doesn't use the same method of album art as WMP and Amarok, there was no album art associated with it. So, I right-clicked on the album and then hit "Fetch Cover from amazon.com." ...and it found none. It immediately brought the text box "You have seen all the covers Amazon returned using the query below. Perhaps you can refine it." I find that it does the same for all albums right now.

Amazon isn't down, and I'm pretty dang sure they have these cds since I bought them on Amazon.

Is anybody else having these problems? If so, then it's probably a server problem and I just need to wait until it's back up. But it's already been down all day, which I would suspect to be quite awhile for MS and Amazon. If not, then I have... Read more

The problem is that the Windows 'search results' box (asking me what i want to search for - pictures, documents, files etc) pops up repeatedly even though i have not initiated a search. The results boxes appear on top of whatever i am doing so that i have to click onto my internet page to make it active again. In say half a minute 30 or 40 search results boxes can appear. I close them down by 'close group' but they just reappear again. The problem is intermitant, but occurs at least once a day.
