Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

Q: Lenovo G580 boot menu is not working when pressing F2 and F12 key

Hello. So I have this problem and I really don't know what to do. I was playing a game (HotS, been playing it for 6 months on the same laptop) and suddenly my keyboard stopped working. So I wanted to wait until the match ends but suddebly my screeb froze. And I couldn't do anything since there is no clicable menu and keyboard was gone. So I turned it off, waited and turnwd it back on. The Lenovo sign came on along with the circle... and that's it. It's been like that for over an hour... I unlugged the charger so now I'm waiting till the battery runs out. Could this be caused by a virus or something? Lately it sometimes froze when I was typing in Word and was listening to smthng on youtube. Also, I would need a quick solution since I need the laptop for school (all my work is there and I can't lose it). Thank you for all your comments

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Lenovo G580 20157. Preinstalled with windows 8. I installed Ubuntu 16.10 and removed windows completely. When I resized the Ubuntu partition to take over Windows partition everything went smooth until I plugged it in. Now I'm stuck in a boot loop. I have tried every fix, except the bios recovery for Phoenix can't find the bios.wph file. Should mention hard drive was completely erased. Can't do anything now, not even bios menu. Please any suggestion I'll try.

Please try removing the hard disk , then try using F2 button to enter bios .
If you are successful in entering the bios, Load set up defaults.
Connect the Hard drive back and check by pressing F2 to enter Bios

If above steps didn't fix the issue , please visit nearest service center to have system tested

Hello everyone I am having a bit of trouble with this G580 lenovo laptop, which can't boot.Problem: HDD and CD/DVD is visible in info tap in bios, however they are not visible in the boot tap, only EFI network IP4 and IP6 are visible. I tried switching the HDD at first just to make sure if it would do anything, but did not work, so i switched back. But i have never seen this kind of issue before, so i actually have no idea what to do. The bios version installed is V9.01 i hope if anyone have an idea that might help solve this issue. --Mootix--

A:Lenovo G580 - Boot menu can not find CD/DVD, HDD, or USB's

Okay it seems i have resolved my own issue, i will report how and what i did so anyone with the same issue can try this. Okay so apparently the Bios were setup to only reqister boot devices that had something to do with Windows 8, meaning that the harddrive which was completely empty of any data, had nothing to do with Windows 8 and therefor can't be booted with the current Bios settings. 1. Go to the Security tap and disable "Secure boot" only temp.2. Go to the Boot tap and change "Boot mode" from UEFI to Legacy Support.3. In the Boot tap change "Boot prio" to "Legacy First".4. Reboot and press F2 and check the boot tap for the HDD under "Boot device prio"Done I think that since the HDD don't have Win8 installed it will not show as a boot device unless it is on Legacy Support.Becuz UEFI on the G580 only supports HDD with a installed Win8 OS. I should now be able to reinstall Win 8 - 8.1 to the HDD.

Press the "Recovery Button" NOT THE POWER BUTTON (A small round button with curve arrow sign which is located on the left side of the Power Button just next to the dust removal opening on the left side of the laptop)3. Selected the BIOS Setup and nothing happens. I cannot even choose the boot option. If I put a pendrive with ubuntu, It picks it up, but not the Windows pendrive. My original HDD has bad sectors and cannot clone it. Any Ideas on how to help me?

The system was last turned on in August, 2018.Today, 30th October of the same year, I'd attempted to turn it back on with no success. I'd taken out the HDD, taken out and rotated the RAM back and forth between two slots.Taken out the AC power and battery, held the power button down more than 30 seconds, put everything back in, nothing. Tried another, known to be working AC from the same model, no reaction. CMOS battery cannot be taken off. LED daughterboard is secured, yet it shows zero activity and the lights aren't on during any of this. Absolutely nothing powers on.  Question, is this a motherboard issue or something else? During its time off/in sleep, it was standing on a shelf, plugged into AC.

I bought my Lenovo G580 more than 3 years ago, and it came with Windows 8.
For a certain reason, my coworker installed on it windows 7.
I tried to restore it to the original image by using the Novo OneKey Rescue button next to the power button... but unfortunately it didn't work... when i press the Novo button, four (4) choices appear on the screen:
- Normal Setup
- BIOS Setup
- Boot Menu
- System Recovery
When i press "System Recovery", windows 7 starts normally without recovering anything...
Is there any way to restore my Laptop to the original factory software???
Thank you in advance...

A:G580 - Lenovo OneKey Rescue button is not working ...

Your One Key Recovery (OKR) button is working, but most likely the recovery partition that contained the necessary files was removed or destroyed during the install of Windows 7.You have a couple of options:1. Contact Lenovo Support by phone, ask if the recovery DVD's are still available and purchase them, it is a reasonable price...2. Purchase the retail DVD of Windows (7, 8.1 or 10) and perform a fresh install.3. Pick a Linux version you like - download and burn to DVD, then install from media.I personally use Windows 10 Pro and Linux Mint (Dual Boot) on my G580 with no hardware issues in either OS... Really like some of the applications that Linux has, and the fact that it is completely free to use.Good luck.CB

Just started happening this week.   It's stuck at the boot screen "lenovo".   I tried many different methods like removing battery, holding power button to reset, etc.  The *only* way to get it to boot is the remove memory card, and put it back.  Then it will boot up fine.     It might then boot fine for the rest of the day.  But then the next day (or after being shutdown for a while), it happens again so i have to remove memory card, put it back, etc.  What could be the problem here ?  I tried both memory slots.  So i don't think it's particular to one slot.

Hello. I have a Lenovo G580 Notebook with Windows 10 installed. The issue is that the Windows hotkeys, that is Windows key and other letter combinations, aren't working. For example, normally, if I press Windows key + I, then the Settings app should open up or if I press Windows key + R, then Run should open up. But the Start screen opens up instead in all such cases.

This is happening since I have updated the Synaptics touchpad driver via Windows Update. If I uninstall the driver, then the hotkeys start working again. But as soon as I install the driver, they stop working. This was not happening with Windows 10 before, even when the Synaptics driver was installed. It has suddenly started happening couple of months ago. Also I cannot completely uninstall the Synaptics driver because my laptop came with it itself nor can I stop the driver from updating as it is an important driver and it needs to be updated to be compatible with Windows 10.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

A:Windows hotkeys not working on Lenovo G580 Notebook (Windows 10).

If you PM me your email address I will send you a link to the Synaptics driver that works for me. Then you will have to use the HideUpdate hotfix to keep Windows update from changing it.

Hi. I've got Lenovo G580 (20150) and I'm trying to install the geforce graphics card present in the system. I don't know exactly what the gpu model is but it's something akin to Geforce 610M. I've got Windows 8.1 installed and the drivers from Lenovo support page for this laptop don't work (I tried drivers for Win 8.1/8/7). During installation the drivers installer says that it "couldn't find appropriate hardware". I also tried various drivers from sites like driveridentifier but none worked. I even installed Win 10 and Windows Update found but couldn't install the drivers. I also have  Win 8.1 freshly installed. It's definitely not an OS problem. I also don't have recovery dvds/partition... Here are the graphics identifiers:PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AA&REV_A1PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&SUBSYS_397717AAPCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_030200PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1140&CC_0302

My g580 ran out of battery while using it, and now it gets stuck on the lenovo logo. I tried a different hard drive which changed nothing, I've tested both hard drives on a different computer and they both work. However when I boot the laptop with no harddrive it will get past the logo go to a screen saying something about an unplugged cable then reset and get stuck on a blank screen.   If I plug in my windows recovery usb drive( and no harddrive) the the machine will boot normally and go to the windows installation screen. So any ideas on why a working harddrive would stop the system from booting? Also I've tried the whole taking out the battery unplugging it holding down the power key and then plugging it back in thing, did nothing.

Making a selection here does not seem to have any effect, and thus I'm unable to boot from USB. Dear Forum Users,

I'm having a very mysterious problem plaguing my PC. I bought my PC not too long ago, it was brand new, and the hard drive which came with it was new as well (but I did a full NTFS format anyway before installing Windows 7).

At some point when I was in a situation where I needed to load the Windows boot menu in order to enter Safe Mode, when I clicked F8 I was extremely surprised to see that some kind of a "GRUB Loader Menu" with a red background was loaded instead.

I have since done a search on the internet and found out that the GRUB Loader menu is related to Linux installations and having dual boot systems with both linux/windows installed.

The thing I don't understand is where the heck did this come from since I never installed Linux on my new PC ever?!

The only thing I can think of is that after receiving my new PC I also hooked up into it my WD Caviar Green 1TB hard drive from my previous computer, which DID have an Ubuntu Linux installation on it at one time, but I have since removed it and also removed the Linux partition which was on that drive way before hooking it up to the new computer.

Please help. When I turn on my laptop using normal power button it opens up the boot/application menu. I sm unable to come out of it. This happened when I found a screen " a problem occurred so windows need to shut down to prevent damage to your computer.." I quickly turned off the system by pressing the power button. Now when I am turning on my system, it shows the boot/application menu.

I've been using my lenovo idea pad 110 perfectly fine for a few months until a few moments ago my my desktop crashes and is not responding stating "windows is not responding". I decided to force shut down and restart which led to the problem. After i start my laptop , it is always stuck on the boot menu and which ever keys i pressed it will Refresh back to the boot menu. I tried pressing the "novo" button and enter system recovery and other options but all lead back to the boot menu again? I require assistance to fix this issue and request anyone more knowledgable to assist me in this issue.Thank you very much!
