Dell Will Not Pass Bios

Q: Dell Will Not Pass Bios

problem - dell computer boots up to "Dell Logo" screen, the "status bar" on that screen that normally goes across does not move at all, it does not even begin to move, it is stuck there, computer will not recognize any external devices such as mouse. keyboard, so i can not get into bios settings, and can not boot from a cd or usb
things i have tried....
- unplug computer hold down power button for 60 seconds
- remove cmos battery and jumper pins, let computer sit for hours
- replace cmos batter with known good battery
- replace power supply with known good power supply
- remove ram sticks
- clean ram sticks/slots
- replace ram sticks one at a time trying both slots with both sticks
- disconnected EVERYTHING from motherboard except fans, power, and ram
- tested hard drive, it is 100% okay
all of the above give the exact same result, nothing changes,
is it safe to assume this is a motherboard issue?

Preferred Solution: Dell Will Not Pass Bios

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have never see this before.
If anyone can help me out i would be so grateful.
Thanks in advance

A:Help with Bios pass for dell d620

Good luck. I do not know of any Dell more difficult to fix than a Dell Inspiron d620. It is known as unrepairable on this forum, when an unknown password is the issue. Tell us exactly what you men by "...with a bios pass..."? Did they give you an incorrect password?
The EEPROM that holds the password is not replaceable due to soldering issues, and the programming of it is different than other Dells so that an experienced EEPROM programmer cannot deal with it either. The shorting techniques used to delete other Dell passwords do not work with the D620.

Prior to this, I was gaming and my screen froze with many blue and white vertical lines across. I held down the power button to restart, but it only loads till the Dell logo with the dots circling then the screen will flicker with some random lines across (see attached image) and then it goes completely black after.

I tried many times to start and in 1 out of 5 tries, sometimes the Dell logo appears with "Please Wait" at the bottom and there are options to Troubleshoot, I am able to enter the Safe Mode with Networking.
I tried doing a system recovery to an earlier date in Safe Mode and it ran till the part when it had to restart with the Dell logo, the same screen with lines appear again or sometimes just a black screen after the logo.

A:Can someone please help me because i dont know the bios pass...

Hi, Unfortunately,  business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Regards, DP-K

A:Bios pass lost

@Zeb2 Contact HP and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.  http://welcome.hp.com/country/w1/en/contact_us.html When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request. Or download these files. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/zu4kdgxm052l87d/AAAMi-kfX4AVH8oTCbsOM4X9a?dl=0 Insert clean USB flash drive. Then run USB Image tool. Choose the flash drive then click on RESTORE. After restore remove flash drive. Insert flash drive into locked laptop and boot. ?If an HDD is installed remove before booting.? At C:\OUTPUT   type CD..   ?Then hit enter? Type HPBR   ?Then hit enter? First thing is to save your settings. Select #3 re-program. Press ?S? to save system information. Type HPBR and hit enter. Select   ?FIRST RUN? Then select model. After reboot repeat same as above but this time SELECT ?SECOND RUN? If you cannot boot from USB flash drive use the Image tool to build a HDD. Then use the drive to boot the program on the locked laptop. REO I must inform you that these services are not endorsed by HP, and that HP is not responsible for any damage that may arise to your system by using these services. Please be aware that you do this at your own risk.

I`ve downloaded all the versions, but the problem is that the Dell BIOS Flash window does not start !!!
I need help please

A:Can`t Upgrade Dell E6410 Bios - Dell BIOS Flash window does not work

Well, i follow the folowing steps from this forum (http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/p/19413136/19971740.aspx#19971740):
1. Install UNetbootin from synaptic2. Run it and create a FreeDOS USB key.3. Copy the exe BIOS update file to the USB key from inside ubuntu.4. Reboot into BIOS setup and change the boot order to boot from USB5. Boot into a live freedos session. * The USB key will offer to install freedos on your hard disk. DONT - that is ubuntucide!* Don't use himem or or that other memory thingywhatsit - just straight freedos6. C: 7. dir8. run the update
And i could install the Bios Upgrade. Now are upgraded to A13.
Aniway something is wrong, because from windows OS, the installer does not start !!!

hi ppl i have a coupla questions for soft pro's, k , i would like to make an emegency floppy disk to recover passes for win xp, one way is to make own app and run it in bios then edit registry and change the pass or the easier way , there is such program called Norton Ghost what u have to do is install it on your pc make a backup then save it and make a recovery floppy disk , then in case if your windows crashes u can restore all your backed up files very fast, in like 10 gb in 1 min, so the easy way would be to, for ex create a user named "test" with blank pass then back it up and save it, now comes the hard part of this , u have to edit the backup file , probably in hex ,so u have to delete all the strings just leave the registry key that has the "test" username with blank pass that would probably weight about 1 mb max, so then all u gotta do is insert floppy reboot and u have acces to the system , so if any of u guyz can help with editing the backup file and making this beautiful pass cracking thing come true plz email [email protected]

A:Hp folio 9470m Bios Pass

Hi @ARtan-Krasniqi? Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting ! Folio is a lovely business class notebook. Most business class notebooks (including yours, Elitebook and Probook, etc...) have better security than consumer class computers. You will have to contact HP Support for business for assistance on removing the password. Here is how >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-phone-assist.html>> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/business-support.html  HP Business support should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file and instructions which you can use  to reset the password.  Hope this helps. Let me know if you face any issues.

A:where to enter bios master pass.

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting. You need to enter this >> 43658984   as a reponse code. You can enter it either:- in the screen when it asks you for a BIOS password (e.g. this 43658984 is your BIOS password)or- directly enter it in the screen when you see the system disabled [52770342] , just begin typing directly 43658984 , no matter you don't see it on the screen. Eventually press [ENTER]. When you enter the response code, it should unlock your PC's BIOS and reset the security settings.  Hope this helps. Let me know if this works for you.

Hi all. Went to boot up my Acer this evening to no avail. I can see it start to cycle through searching the DVD drive and see the read/right red LED light for the hard drive go on for about 5 seconds, then nothing. No BIOS test pass beep. I know that it beeps once for passing, then continues to boot. I hear the fans going. but that's it.

I took the side panel off and reseated all the connections including the Mem strips. At one time I left a strip out intentionally for a continuous beep, which is what it's suppose to do.

It was running great earlier today. Shut it down with the physical power button as I always do.

I'm searching the Inet to no avail. Any thoughts?

A:Acer > no BIOS pass test beep

Nothing on the monitor? No BIOS POST screen?
Here is what I normally do in a situation like this.
Unplug anything not needed for the PC to POST, all you need is the bare minimum.
Power supply, motherboard, CPU with heat sink, one stick of RAM, Video card (onboard if it has it), Monitor and keyboard.
If it will now POST add parts back in one at a time until it quits again. If it won't POST start swapping parts. I'd try a spare power supply first. Then Video Card, and RAM etc.

There are no master passwords.. if someone has put a password on the bios which it sounds like there is, the only way to get rid of it is to flash the bios chip, and i wouldn't do it yourself unless you know what your doing, so if you don't get someone who does.

I just acquirred a Compaq/Hp laptop model nc8230, This was bought on Ebay in the USA and posted to me in the UK. This was bought with other laptops and all was fine except this one has a bios password. I think it is one of the newer type bios security because unplugging the bios battery for hours on end doesn't get rid of the power-on bios password.

As soon as you switch it on, you get a blue box with the legend
"Embedded Password Security" with the picture of a key. You get 3 tries to get it right before you have to power down, the power-on again to have another go. There has to be a backdoor password here, but I can't guess it. I am desperated to get this machine running .

Can anybody out there help?

Hello; Sorry to bother you but i read your post in regards to the laptop you had/have with the locked bios, i was wondering if you had found the backdoor pswd for it... i am stuck with the same problem you have/had and need some help.

If you would be so kind as to tell me where you found the pswd or even provided me with it, that would be awesome. Bought the laptop on ebay from a liquidator and they have no clue as to what the pswd is.

Hi, a student of mine owns a compaq mini 110, CNU9312BR1, p/n NZ800EA#B1A and apparently is locked. But when I turn it on shows only <enter current password it doesn't give a lockout code so I can calculate withthe tool given in this forum the el****** reseting password. When I try to enter this to the pc I notice that some keys are responding on the screen (showing a * when pressed and some not) is the keyboard broken also? or the mb perhaps? or is something else?

A:Compaq mini 110 bios lockout no code is given for reset pass...

Connect a USB keyboard to the mini notebook.  You can use it just as you can use the notebook's own keyboard. Press the power button and then when asked for the password, enter e9lof37pb3 and then press the enter key. e9lof37pb3 is the only system enable code for an HP mini.

I power the laptop on and the Dell logo is there with a blue bar at the bottom of the screen slowly moving left to right. When it has filled up the block, the screen flashes to a black screen with small white writing at the top and very quickly back to the Dell logo and thereafter flashes between the 2 screens.
If I power off and restart, the flashing continues.  If I wait an hour or so,  it starts again with the Dell logo and bar beneath slowly filling up and then continues with the flashing alternating screens.
I have tried removing and replacing the battery.
I have hit F12 and gone through all the diagnostics but there are no error codes.
I am running Windows 7 and do hope this is not caused by my inadvertently clicking on a Windows 10 popup!
Any advice gratefully received.

Does this happen with or without the adapter connected?
Download the service manual - http://dell.to/1U2LukH - and remove and reseat the memory modules and test each module in each slot and check.
Remove the HDD and check if the system goes past the Dell logo and gives any error message.
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Run an extended test on the memory modules and the HDD.

If possible, update the BIOS and check:

I have a Dell Inspiron 1764 with Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 (64-bit, 4GB RAM) that is experiencing apparently random BSODs occurring since 9/3/2013. I have reseated the RAM and performed four passes of memtest plus the built-in diagnostics from Dell for BSODs. Everything passes. All Windows Updates have been performed. Checkdisk has been performed also.

Avast! is mentioned in the mini-dump from 9/3/2013 which was bug check 0xc4 (at least according to BlueScreenView). Avast! had a program update and that has been performed since that specific BSOD occurred. I thought about removing Avast! altogether but, nothing seems to point to Avast! anymore (not in BlueScreenView or any other diagnostic tool I've tried) so I have not yet done so.

I have attached the output from SF Diagnostic Tool in hopes that someone can help me solve these errors. Thanks in advance!

Hi All,
I tested the following attacks in Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics and found them
not to be working.

Bruteforce Attack Pass-The-Ticket Pass-The-Hash Sensitive account exposed Using Plain-Text Authentication
I have tested other attacks like Reconnaissance
using DNS, Broken Trust, Honey Token account suspicious activities but they are working perfectly fine. I don't know
what's the issue with the above 4.
1. Bruteforce Attack:
I used thc-hydra-windows and triggered a dictionary attack using a list of passwords.

2. Pass-The-Ticket:
I used mimikatz to steal the kerberos ticket from a PC on which Admin is logged on. Impersonating an attacker, I copied the .kirbi file and Injected that file(using mimikatz again) to another PC on which a domain user is logged in.

3. Pass-The-Hash:
(Same as above)
4. Sensitive account exposed in plain text authentication:
I used mimikatz command 'sekurlsa :: logonpasswords' and was able to get passwords of all the users who logged on to that PC. But this was also not detected by MATA.

Please help me with the above issues. If possible, provide the tools using which I can trigger and detect those attacks.

I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.

Don't go for a password. Use the PIN option That's just what you need and it's really a great thing as well.

My laptop left side hinge broke down after enquiring I came to know this is not covered in warranty and quotation provided to me for replacement and labour is 630 usd. You can imagine how Dell is making fool of its customer. Dell purchase inferior quality items from China  and when it is broken customer has to bear the price. My laptop is I7 5558 (15 months old) which I bought for around 800 usd and hinge which does not even falls into the category of technical part will cost 630 USD. Whole forum is full of this broken hinge problem . why cant Dell just replace it to all or least if people reach out to support they should replace it free of cost. Highly disappointed with Dell . I always thought Dell laptops are toughest and best in world. Mr Dell will be very happy to see how his company is sourcing inferior products and passing cost on to customer.  Truly amazing Dell way to go ... people will stop using your product one day.

I have recently installed ATA (1.8.6645.28499). It is now in to the second week of its learning phase and it is raising a considerable number of false pass-the-hash alerts when users initiate Citrix sessions from their usual PC using pass-thru authentication,
eg a typical alert would be:
Bloggs,Fred's hash was stolen from one of the computers previously logged into by Bloggs,Fred and used from xx1234
Clearly this is spurious - in each case the user is initiating a Citrix session from their
own PC and the xx1234 represents a Citrix server in the farm in every case.
1) Why am I only receiving a handful of related PTH alerts each day when I have many thousands of Citrix users, all authenticating in the same manner?
2) How can I supress these alerts?
What I effectively want to say is 'IF the suspected PTH is being triggered BY the user on their OWN PC and the target server is in our Citrix farm' then ignore it. I can't see a way of setting an exclusion range like this for PTH events though?

Hello All,
3 days ago I applied the latest bios update to my 1-year old XPS15, running latest and fully patched 64 bit Windows 10 public release.
Since then
A) plugin a rather simple USB-3 hub into the system prevents the laptop from Booting into BIOS, or if manages to do that
B) plugin said USB-3 hub after full windows boot, freezes both USB ports devices.  The unfreeze can be overcame by unplugging the hub and then other device and then re-pluging both
C) after step B, windows explorer becomes very unstable and does not even show all the folder contents to some programs "open file" function.
D) the system does not recover anymore from plain S3 sleep, triggering a windows hard reboot.
I'm afraid the bios option to roll-back the bios version was not active, so I'm stuck.
Finally, the latest Intel diver published at the same time does not install cleanly after the bios update (although I managed to get it to show in the "program files" section.
I always apply the latest updates for drivers and bios promptly as main security policy and so far the system has behaved very well (Maybe with the exception of Hibernation from sleep time out, which always has been a bit faulty)

I am look for a last ditch help on fixing the BIOS/POST problem on a perfectly fine E6230
I was attempting to make a powered eSATA cable work when I enabled the SATA 4 and SATA 5 button in the BIOS.
After reboot... nothing..
I have been told it is a motherboard failure but this is too co-incidental!
I have tried a reset of the BIOS by disconnecting all power even the BIOS Coin battery .... nothing - no POST - although the LED shows that laptop is detecting lack of memory and HDD
A search shows that for INSPIRON laptops the BIOS can be unpacked and re-FLASHED to reset.
Does anyone know how to achieve this with the DELL Latitude Laptop or another way to reset the BIOS setting please?

Many thanks for any help or advice

2. How do I get those user responses into the query below
3. How do I write the querydef?

The SQL query is attached

Hello all,
Just bought this laptop from ebay and I am looking to upgrade my current BIOS (A03) to the latest one (A23). But I am not able to install this latest BIOS (A23) unless my current BIOS is (A05). I follow the instruction on Dell support site and trying to download (A05) but it does not show anything in the links.
Where can I find this (A05) BIOS for my laptop?
Here is the instruction provided by Dell Driver and Download:
1. Please note that if the A04 or before A04 BIOS is currently installed on your system, you must first update to A05 BIOS and then flash to the latest A-rev BIOS.A05 link: www.dell.com/.../DriverDetails2. Please note that if the A05 or after A05 BIOS and before A08 is currently installed on your system, you must first update to A08 BIOS and then flash to the latest A-rev BIOS.A08 link: www.dell.com/.../DriverDetails
Looking forward for your assistant and thanks in advance for all your help.
