On-board video increase

Q: On-board video increase

If the mobo has onboard video of 4 megs but allows you, in bios, to increase to 8megs, where does the memory usage come from?

By changing from 4mb to 8 mb the memory usage has to affect something else? Right? (besides the improved video)
What is or may be negatively affected?

Hope this makes sense.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My girlfriend has a 566mhz celeron with 11mb shared intel integrated video. I have a 866mhz pentium3 with 32mb nvidia riva tnt2 agp graphics card. She has gotten hooked on a game called 99 bottles where you have to slide the bottles across the screen to line them up. I have noticed that they move much slower on her computer than on mine. I am considering buying her a 16 or 32 mb pci (she doesn't have an agp port) video card (I know they make faster now but she only plays simple games), but I'm not sure if it'd make a difference in games like this, like solitaire games where you have to watch the card move across the screen when it's dealt. Does anybody know about such things?

thank you very much,

I also have two monitors via Sabrent USB to VGA devices. While I was out of town last week, Windows delivered an update to the Intel P630 graphics. Got home, put my P51 in the docking station. Bam, video driver keeps crashing, reverting to the basic driver and disabling all my external monitors.  I finally tracked it to the Intel P630 driver, I can uninstall it and reboot and it works fine for a while, but then after a reboot it crashes again.  I've tried reinstalling the NVIDIA driver from both their site and the Lenvo support site, no change. I looked for the P630 driver, but couldn't find it on the Lenovo site, at least as an independant download. It may be included in some other download. I did try getting the P630 from the Intel site, but what I downloaded said it wasn't compaitble with my machine.  Right now it has the same image on the internal monitor and the two monitors hooked to the docking station. The two monitors coming in over USB seem to be OK and not have the "same desktop everywhere" issue.  I actually have two docking stations with external monitors, I have an office upstairs in my h... It can only be one of the two enabled at a time. For most systems, as soon as you put the pci-card in the slot, it disables the on board video.

Hi all,
I have a dell here with on board video that has failed (someone literally pulled the connector off of the motherboard). The system should be fine otherwise, therefore I was wondering if I could put in a old style PCI video card into one of the PCI slots (it does not have a video slot) and have it work. Or would the onboard video cause conflicts? I know that with some BIOS's you can turn off the onboard video, and this is usually a option if the motherboard has a video slot available (agp, PCI Express). Of course this motherboard does not and is a dell cheapo.

I am thinking it will probably work but thought I would ask before getting a card for it.

A:Can a dell use a pci video card if it has on board video?

Will a PCI video card work? Possibly!

Attached is a pic of a board where the Sub-D connector was pulled from the board, and when it was pulled it shorted out the board, and a PCI card would not work.

A:How to Increase my dedicated video ram ?

Hello Shaboury, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You should be able to increase your video ram in your computer BIOS. Take a look on it.
Anyway, the minimum graphics requirements for this game are:

ATI Radeon 3870 or higher, Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT or higher, with 512MB VRAM.

These are old dedicated high-end dedicated graphics cards, but they should work good with today games, maybe with some compromises between graphics quality and performance.
I'm saying this to you because you have an integrated graphics card, which is not designed to play heavy graphics games (in this case, Chivalary: Medieval Warfare).
You have the Intel Graphics HD 3000 integrated GPU, which is comparable to a Radeon HD 5450 and a GeForce GT 9400, which are low-end dedicated graphics cards. Integrated graphics card are NOT designed for gaming.

I'm not sure your integraded GPU can handle this game.

What type of issues are you experiencing?
And, is your game copy an original one?

Alright, I'd like to download and play Skyrim, but the website, "Systemsrequirementslab.com" says my dedicated video RAM is too low to play. I know that the website often tells you that you can't run a game if you have hardware it doesn't recognize, but I checked it out and this time it's right.

I checked under the Intel Systems Information
Current Graphics Memory (In use): 75mb
Maximum Graphics Memory: 1760mb

1760mb is well over the recomended amount for the game, so I'm not sure how to let my laptop use it. If anyone could help me figure it out I'd really appreciate it!

I'm really not very tech savy, accessing the memory info is about the most technical thing on my computer I've done so far. If you need any more info, I'd be more than happy to try and find it for you if it helps. I'm also a new user, so if I posted this in the wrong place I'm sorry.

The maximum graphics memory is shared system memory that the system lets the graphics card use. Dedicated memory is faster and is only available for the graphics card. You cannot adjust the amount of dedicated video memory.

A:increase video memory?

You may be able to do this in the laptop's BIOS/CMOS setup if the card is intergrated. If the Video card has its own memory then you'll either have to buy more memory for it or buy a new card with more memory. In my case, I can do one of the latter 2.

When i use dxdiag to see what is being used it also says 8mb being used with a max of 64mb. how can i change this so 64 is always being used. i have a game that i want to install that works on another laptop with 32mb of video.

A:Increase Shared Video

Hi nixgod.
If there is no bios setting for it then it is completely controlled by the chipset.
It should borrow video memory dynamicly on demand. If you are testing at an idle state or from the bios, virtually no video memory is required. However, to reach the maximum (or "up to") usually means that the laptop must contain the maximum main memory to do so. How much ram is installed in the laptop? If it is below 512mb, you're not likely to get the full 64. That system maxes out at 1gb. If you are at 512mb or above, I'd suggest a bios, chipset and video driver update, in that order, as possible solutions. Let us know.

Probably not, sounds like a limit imposed by AOL. Alternatively, use a large file transfer web company like www.dropsend.com. Its more reliable to upload that way rather than through/to email and its also more reliable for the recipient who may have more restrictive email limits than AOL.

A:how to increase dedicated video memory ?

This depende on whether your notebook has switchable  graphics (discrete video adapter) or not. HP 6450 notebooks normally do not have discrete graphics because the graphics is supplied on the same chip as the CPU. Discrete graphics is usually only available on high end Gaming notebooks. Video memory for a notebook which has onboard graphics is determined by the amount of installed physical memory module(s). Increase the installed memory top 8 GB and you will see an increase. If you have a notebook with a discrete video adapter (mini PCIe), then you can only increase the video memory by upgrading to a compatible discrete video  adapter that has more memory.

Hi guys. I need some help here.

I re-installed one of my games that I used to play a year back and it tells me that I need 12MB of video memory for it to work. I had played this game on the same PC before one year ago, so I do not know why it is telling my PC now that it doesn't have sufficient video memory. Everything was running smoothly when I played the game a year ago.

Has it got anything to do with the increasing number of files I downloaded or some of the programs I have installed over the year? How do I check how much video memory I am currently using? More importantly, how do I physically increase video memory?

(I also met this recent problem of late too: Whenever I open a new Internet Explorer browser, it has this pop-up that says "out of memory at line:534". Nothing's very wrong though - I just press OK and I can still use the Internet. Has this got anything to with the video memory too?)

I really want to keep the price around $150-$200 if possible. I understand if we go over that budget range. Here is all the specs I can give you on my computer:

1. Motherboard - Don't know its a Dell Deminsion E520
2. Graphic interface -256MB PCI ExpressTM NVIDIA® GeForce® 7300LE TurboCache12

6. Power Supply Make/Model -305 Watt DC Power Supply
7. Watt output/Amperage-not sure about this one!

Like I said its a Dell E520. I am not a "HARDCORE" gamer I just want a nice FPS rate. If can get around 40-60 Avg FPS that would be awesome! If you need anymore info just ask and I will try and get whatever you need! Thanks!

Lots of memory, and a very good graphics card, with a power supply that can handle the graphics card. The more you spend, the better it will work... The more you read up on video graphics card, the less you will spend.

I have a Lenovo thinkpad 430s I have been using for sometime. I saw a tweak on how the dedicated video memory of a PC could be increased. It has to do with going to the registry creating a folder "GMM" and a 32bit word file in the folder and modifying this new file in respect to the amount of memory you'd like to add. You can try GMABooster, but I recommend using with caution. Since it allows you to overclock the on-board video, you may decrease the life of your battery and your computer, or even potentially cause great harm to your motherboard if not used properly. Otherwise, I recommend buying a new/better laptop with a discrete video card.

Im still learnign about what compressions to use etc but one thing has been troubleing me. To test it i plugged my video camera into it and the quality was fine, but when i use my graphics card monitor it decreases quite alot compared to the video cam. (Spec in sig). It is going though AV leads to each card, and i do know that S-Video is much better and so on, but this cards jus to do me a little while and i was wondering if there is any way to increase quality from Gcard to Tvcard. A screen is linked at bottom (sorry i couldnt get it any bigger) to give u a rough idea of what i mean. It is useable for what ill be doing with it but was just curious if there are any tweaks to help it out

Thanx

P.s. i am using iuVCR , have used all compression methods, and although performance differs with some the quality stays the same.

Standard TV is rather poor quality to begin with.. Are you sure the problem is with the capture card and not the output from your vid card?

Hello, I 've been trying to increase my dedicated video memory in BiOS but I can't seem to figure out how to do it or if it's even possible. Any Ideas will be greatly appreciated, It's currently set to 128mb and thats pretty much useless for most games now adays. I read somewhere that games will run better if you increase it.  When I do scans on my computer that check compatibility for games, dedicated video is always the only issue. Product name: HP ENVY 15 x360 PCProduct number: G6T84UA#ABAVideo Card: Intel HD Graphics 4400Windows 10 Home 64-bit

A:how do I increase HP Envy Dedicated Video memory?

Hi, Simply say: you can't. System will automatically allocate/assign available system RAM to graphics up to max supported. By the way, that machine is not a games machine. If you wish to play games on laptop, please set aside around $2,000. Regards.

I am trying out your Blaze Media Pro and I just got through with a re-size project on an AVI video file. I took a 697 MB file, which had a resolution of 646 x 352 and I re-sized it to 800 x 480. I had to do this to make it fit WMP and eventually the screen on my TV.

It came out fine, but the new file was now 3.96 GB's which I think is a little large, especially when compared the results I've gotten from the same procedure using other video tweaking tools like AVIDemux and VirtualDub. They never increased the size that large.I used DivX 6.85 YV12 Decoder along with MPEG layer 3 compression on my project

A:Questioning increase in video file size

It's all about bit rate. If you can't set it directly then there are going to at least be some presets to choose from and they will have a default bitrate depending on the format and the intended playback device.

So my netbook is running on Intel HD graphics mobile with Intel celeron n2830 2.16ghz and 2 GB ram.
My problem is I can't play any games with 32 mb of dedicated video ram and I have a netbook so I can't change my dedicated video ram using the bios setup method.
Any other method or software out there that can help me?

A:How to increase dedicated video ram aside from using bios setup?

You can only set what the BIOS makes available, there is no way around that. A netbook isn't intended for games, so there's no reason for it to allocate larger amounts of video memory.
