X1 Yoga - G3 - 20LD - Windows PE 10 via LanDesk - No USB

Q: X1 Yoga - G3 - 20LD - Windows PE 10 via LanDesk - No USB

Hi all. Got a new 20LD X1 Yoga Model in. Added the WinPE pack of drivers. I get into PE just fine. The drivers in the PE pack load fine. Problem is - No keyboard, no mouse, no network. I can't DRVLoad to figure out what network driver I am missing because no KB/M. There are no KB/M drivers listed anywhere for this device. I'm going maybe try to load the chipset driver into PE from the SCCM pack but assuming that will do nothing. What am I missing? Help. This is the first time out of 40 models of devices I have ever had such an issue (did not even have this issue with 2nd gen Yoga). -J

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Writing from my PC, as of over a month ago my brand new ThinkPad had the latest windows update and turned into a worthless unproductive screen and touchpad system. I have waited on updates and since then the BIOS, some hotkeys and other keyboard related drivers have been updated. All related drivers have been re-installed all up-to-date etc. Though currently the following things occur when typing, when pressing:"backspace key" once= replace last key with a y"backspace key" hold= replace last key with a y and keep placing y's"n" key= adds a space before every n typed so it would look like le novo"y" key once= nothing happens"y" key hold= places y's"j" key= types out "<j"Spamming letters: random fn keys are activated, eg sound brightness etc."=" key= the "" degree symbol"-" key= "/" And many more examples like this, basically have no clue what to do; I've called Lenovo and the store I bought it from; both replied that I had to wait for updates though I am not really counting on that being a solution anytime soon so I would hugely appreciate your time in providing a solve for my problem! Thanks for your time, Andreas

Good afternoon, I have just purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1 3rd Gen laptop.  I am having issues with connecting to a broadband, i.e. cellular, connection.  I have purchased a SIM card from a local cellular carrier, and have verified that the band that this laptop operates on is compatible with their system.  Once I have inserted the card, and powered on the device, I am unable to connect to the broadband connection.  It is just stuck at "connecting". I have verified that the sim card is active, and have gone as far as to swap the sim card from my phone with the one that is in the laptop.  Still having the same issues. I have opened a case with Lenovo support, and unforunately I am receiving the run around with this issue. Anyone have any suggestions on a possible remedy to this issue?

Recently my Yoga has begun to not work very well with external monitors and USB-C docks. Specifically, if I am plugged into a dock with working external monitors, then remove the USB-C plug then plug it back in again, the external monitors will no longer display. This can often be fixed by shutting the laptop lid and opening it again. Sometimes this is just fixed randomly by waiting. Sometimes a reboot will fix it. Suspecting that it is an issue with the drivers, I have gone to the downloads page and downloaded "Intel Graphics Driver (Version 1709 or later)". When I attempt to install these drivers however I get the error message "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install this software". I get this when I try to install manually OR when I try to use the Thinkvantage software to update my computer. Not sure why my computer would not meet the minimum requirements if this is the download specifically for my computer. How can I still this software or fix my external monitor issue? Thanks!

First off anyone have any good active forums on this software? I have been to the LanDesk forum but it won't even allow me to post there after having registered.

Now on to my problem -

This is driving me buggy. I am new to the LanDesk package builder but right now I am getting VERY aggrivated.

I installed a base XP install with just drivers, due to the documentation I read indicating you want a PC with a little "fluff" as possible. I then run the package builder wizard and ensure I am scanning the entire C:\. After I then click Next where it indicates if its an AutoRun CD to click next and I perform the Full install from the Adobe CD. I then change the name to Adobe_Acrobat_8_STD_XP (I have tried a number of names I read something saying not to use .'s so I used _'s I also tried a shortname under 8 characters). Finally I tell it to compare and build. Each time I do this I get an *.exe build of about 540 MB but I get the exact same symptoms each time.

Copying this *.exe to any other XP PC and double clicking on this exe yields the task showing up in Process list for about 10 seconds and a minor amount of CPU use then it just disappears. There are no files on the C:\, no icon on the desktop, nothing in the start menu, and finally no printer in the printers list. I have even clicked on it and left the machine sitting for quite awhile (6+ hours).

Is there some step I am missing this Package builder seems rudimentary enough that I am not thinking ther... Read more

I updated my two Yoga laptops this wee on two different days. I noticed that after the update my yoga mouse couldn't pair (connect) to each computer.  There was no issue before the update. Because it happened with both computers, I suspect there is an issue with the update. I hope someone here can help me, I've exhausted everything I can think of to try to fix this issue:I recently purchased a Yoga 730-15IWL running Windows 10 Pro but I can't for the life of me figure out how to get rid of those annoying "ctrl" "alt" and "shift" popups under the Active Pen 2 icon.  I've tried disabling them via gpedit as many of the guides suggest, but "enabling" the "Turn off pen feedback" option does absolutely nothing, even after a restart.  The strange thing is, the text in the policy reads:"If you enable this policy, all visual pen action feedback is disabled except for press and hold feedback.  Additionally, the mouse cursors are shown instead of the pen cursors."However, the little dot remains for the pen icon instead of the mouse cursor and of course the little popups still exist.  So it seems like it's just not actually disabling anything for some reason.  I should mention that I've tried 'enabling' (disabling) this policy both under "computer configuration" and "user configuration".  Neither seems to make any difference.I've also seen some guides that do the same thing via the regestry, but if I check my registry, it's already set to the mode suggested.  I've tried turning off the Windows Ink Workspace via the 'allow windows ink workspace'  policy in gpedit but also nothing.  Finally, I've also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the pen drivers but I can't seem to get those popups to go away!  I hope s... Dear All, I got a user who asked me to downgrade from Windows 10 to 7 on his yoga 3. I'm encountering a lot of problems since when I tried to start the windows 7 installation both from usb boot and CD, the system gives me an error regarding some driver missing. I performed a low level format so the PC is clean. After some researches I understood that the problem could be related to the usb3.0 drivers that are missing on the win7 image. So I tried to upgrade the .wim with the DISM feature using the CMD. This didn't work either.  Honestly at this point I don't know how to proceed. I used both 2.0 and 3.0 bootable usb drives (with the driver update) and I tried with the Installation CD. Do you have any suggestion? Thanks for your help Kind Regards, Alessio

Like stated in the description. the Lenovo Yoga Control Service require 3% out of the CPU, all the time. and the only thing the service does is checking the orientation of the screen, and disable keyboard and mouse when flipped. This is absurd, especially since it drains battery constantly. I hope that this will be fixed eventually, until that time, I will turn the service off and use the computer like a regular laptop.

I've recently (13th of April) bought new Yoga 530-14IKB. It has adequate CPU i3-8130U, which is faster than i5-6200U in my sister's Acer laptop, but I anyway don't play any games. Despite that, its battery life isn't good. It works about 3-3,5 hours in Chrome. In task manager I've noticed that Yoga Mode Control is constantly using 15-30% CPU and its battery usage is described as very high. After disabling it, I can't switch to the tablet mode and keyboard and touchpad don't turn off. Is there somebody who has Yoga laptop and experience similar problem?

I own a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Yoga (1st gen as a Yoga; 4th gen as a Carbon), Product 20FQCTO1WW. Starting two days ago, it randomly reboots. The event log shows that it has had an unexpected reboot ("The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly."), but reading the events leading up to the reboot doesn't give me much of a clue as to why. The only interesting events are messages that a core of the CPU is being throttled ("The speed of processor X in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report."). I took the bottom cover off and agressively blew compressed air in every crevice. This did remove some dust buildup, but the system wasn't as dirty as I expected. In fact, it looked pretty clean. I also vaccuumed. And I removed the fan and thermal heatsink and throughly blew compressed air through it and made sure that there was no gunk clogging the heatsink air fins. After reassembling, it seems to be slightly more stable, but it has still rebooted a few times. There are lots of threads where people complain about fan noise and ask how they can reduce the speed of their fan. I'd like to run mine at max 100% of the time (noise be darned) for a few days just to see if that keeps the system from randomly rebooting. However, I don't know of a sofware setting where I can control... Read more

I am a very frustrated and angry customer at the moment as i keep running into Road Block and unacceptable answers.  This issue is enough to cause me to never buy another Lenovo laptop or any laptop at Best Buy!I bought my computer in July and in September i noticed a key had popped off-  the "< ," key next to the M key.  I have used the key board only when i was setting up-  now at my office and at customers i set it in downward dog mode ;-) and use a blue tooth key board.    So it is not from use that it broke.   I took the laptop into BEST BUY and was told that the key was missing a metal part on the back so they could not fix it onsite-  i would have to send it in and be without my laptop for a week to 10 days - unacceptable -  this was a month or more ago. I searched on the LENOVO website and could not find a way to purchase a single or the entire set of Keys!  I am self employed as a software consultant.   My life is pretty busy and i finally decided today to bite the bullet and ask for a call from Lenovo support.  Again i am told the only way to fix this is to send my laptop in for a repair.  I asked to just be able to buy a KEY - i am told that well they do not sell individual keys - they would replace the entire keyboard!  So sell me the keyboard and or send me one an i will take into best buy to have them replace it while i wait.  They cannot do that.   I live... Hello All, I have an issue with my YOGA 700 laptop when logged in multiple accounts simultaneously. Whenever an account is left logged on and the user is switched as opposed to logging off, the cpu usage ramps up very high with several RUNDLL32 processes being the culprit. I have checked the RUNDLL32 processes with Process Explorer and the command line are as follows:C:\Windows\system32\rundll32.exe C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\EnableAutoRotation.dll,RunCustomMonitor The directory is as follows: C:\ProgramData\LenovoTransition\Server\x64\ The only solution I have found is restarting the laptop. The problems comes back when again more than one user is logged in. Also, the rundll32 processes only run high cpu on one account at a time and there doesn't seem to be a preference for a specific account, all of them are plagued one at a time with the problem. Disabling the Yoga Mode Control service is a fix but that breaks the mode control which is essential in this laptop. I have tried installing all the available software on the Software page foor the YOGA 700. The rundll32 processes drain the battery very fast and I can't always log off other users when they have apps open!  I have posted a screenshot of process explorer showing 2 rundll32.exe processes using 25% cpu usage each. However, sometimes up to 4 rundll32.exe processes open up and they use combined 100% cpu usage, which makes the laptop run very hot and slow. In t... Read more

On the surface, both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 look nearly identical, but in my testing, I prefer one over the other. Let's dig deeper to see the differences between the two!To get this out of the way, both machines have 1TB PCIe storage, 16GB memory, and the Yoga 910 has the 7th gen i7-7550U processor, and the Yoga 920 has the 8th gen i7-8550U processor.

Hardware & Design
Both the Yoga 910 and Yoga 920 are built out of aluminum, which gives them a high quality feel to them.  Both laptops have the keyboard integrated into the chassis, which means less keyboard flex. One thing that I find better in the Yoga 920 is the fact that it's all smooth edges around.  The Yoga 910 has pretty sharp edges which means you could scratch your surface or yourself.  The sharp edges of the Yoga 910 was a common complaint, and I'm glad they rectified it.

Hello Dws520Thanks for using the Lenovo forums. Was this the creators update?
If so, have a look on the following post, this should show if your device has been tested with the update yet:

From what I can see, your unit does not seems to have made the list, which leads me to believe that this will be the cause of the issue, I would recommend that you revert back to the previous version of Windows, and observe if the fault still occurs or not.

Hope this helps, let us know how you get on.==================================================================================Did someone help you today? Thank them with a Kudo! If you find a post helpful and it answers your question, please mark it as an "Accepted Solution"!

I updated this summer only to find that my YP2 wouldn't play nice with the new operating system. I tried all the bug fixes, to no avail, so I removed Windows 10 and went back to 8. (Boo...) I'm wondering if it's "safe" now to go ahead and upgrade... Anyone have success with a standard upgrade? I don't want to have to remove a lot of programs or change a lot of settings just to get minimal functionality.

A:Yoga Pro 2 and Windows 10

I finally got around to updating my Y2Pro last week. I scheduled the upgrade, then applied some choice driver updates, namely BIOS, wifi, bluetooth, dptf while still Win 8.1. Went to my notebook a day or two after upgrade took place, and seemed to have mostly completed. After some final setup, the Win 10 desktop loaded. BlueTooth was a huge problem. I tried numerous times with both 10 and 8.1 driver install/repair/uninstall/install/repair. I have a bluetooth mouse and the Bluetooth device selection under Win 10 was gone. It had also disappeared while updating driver in Win 8.1 so had some troubleshooting experience from that. At one point wifi wouldn't work, but came back under later repair. Finally got the Blue Tooth device selection back in Win 10 using Win 10 driver. Working for now, but not fun. Somebody should be shot for this, but it's been a long standing problem I understand. For now desktop is stable, but honestly haven't run this thing through all the modes it can go yet. If problems, I'll start with more driver updates.
