Slight Delay In Typing Performance.

Q: Slight Delay In Typing Performance.

Hello there, this problem is not extremely important, so by all means, if someone else needs to be helped first, no problem.

When I open firefox 3 or the IE Explorer, and I procede to type in the search bar of any search engine or just the address bar there is a slight delay in when I type to when the typed shows up on the screen. Just wanted to know if there is any remedy to this situation.

Steps I have taken....

1. I have just rebounded from a devistating virus attack. Thanks to your forums and Simon I was able to get things cleaned up.

2. I am using clamwin as anti virus

3. I am always scanning my pc for malwar via spybot, ad aware and other such programs as well.

If you need a greater detail for what I have done in reguards to the virus there is probably a way you can link to my other posts in the other forum.

Let me know, and thanks again in advance.

Preferred Solution: Slight Delay In Typing Performance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am a member of an online karaoke community, and just recently changed out my older WinXP system with a Dell Inspiron 560 with Windows 7 (secondhand purchase from a family member).  I have noticed, in comparison to what I heard when I was using the XP system, that there is a slight delay in hearing myself in the speakers when I speak in the microphone.  I have the microphone (uses a 1/4 inch plug, not a USB microphone) and 2 music keyboards connected to a mixer board, which is then plugged into the mic jack on the back of the computer.  On my XP system, I had a Soundblaster sound card installed, on the Dell, this is using the sound connections on the mother board.  Was wondering if this is something from Windows 7 or if there needs to be adjustments in the sound properties to eliminate the delay...it makes it sound like an echo effect that makes it difficult to record songs.

A:Slight delay in hearing what I say on microphone

Actually, I was able to find the answer in the Microsoft forums.  It seems to be a common problem with Windows systems from Windows Vista onward.
You uncheck the "Listen to this device" box for the mic in Recording Devices, then in Playback Devices, go to the Level tab for the speakers, unmute the microphone there and increase the level to the desired level.  Tested it last night and had no problems.

I was having problems with my games slowing down etc on my laptop so I decided to do a reformat and reinstall of Windows 7.

After I done it I noticed my laptop was still doing a sort of glitch/delay whenever I was doing stuff like opening folders to view files, programs and even in things like Firefox when it was loading a page you would see the spinning icon stop for a second then load.

I have reinstalled again and it still seems to have this slight delay on things.

I have ran HIREN Boot CD and done a hard drive test and it came back saying PASS.

My laptop specs are : Intel Core i3 M370 2.4GHz, 6GB Ram, 500GB Hard Drive, ATI Radeon Mobility HD 5470 512mb, Windows 7 Home Prem 64bit.

I have also been in "msconfig" and disabled alot of the startup stuff but even startup still feels slow.
Could someone give me any guidance on why this is happening and how to solve it.

Here is also a HiJackThis log if that helps.

I have three machines that were running windows 8 on them. I used my MSDN to upgrade all 3 to 8.1 RTM. The only odd thing is search on just one of the PCs.

On this PC, when searching for items found in the control panel (such as "Indexing Options", etc) it seems to have an artificial 2-3 second delay before displaying the results under the search field. On the other two machines, they're near instant.

For those with 8.1, try it on your machine. Search for Indexing Options of File History and see how long it takes to show up, either by hitting Start and typing or Win+S...

The delay is driving me nuts. Is there any reason why this may be? I've already rebuilt the index and decreased the size of it, as well as rebooted several times and ran CCleaner a bit. The only difference is this machine is Win 8.1 Pro, while the others are regular. I have disabled the Bing web search on all three and all other settings have been left alone.

A:8.1 RTM- Slight delay when searching control panel items?

I resolved this on my own. It turned out I had a network share under my Music library. I assume the search service was going to search that before it listed control panel items. I removed the reference and it works normal now.

I am a Wikpedia editor and about a year and a half ago I encountered a problem where when I type something in the edit box, it would take a second before the words actually appeared on the screen. This only happens in wikpedia. So I scanned with Malwarebytes and got a malware and quarantined it. After that the issue was gone. About a week ago the problem came back. But I don't know if it's malware again, because Malwarebytes and Avast couldn't catch it. Please help me get rid of this annoying problem.

This happens quite often and usually a reboot fixes the problem but I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue.

Once my laptop has been running for a while (day or two) I will notice that when I am pounding away at the keyboard typing there will be a delay until the characters actually show up. Sometimes I am 8-10 characters ahead of what is being displayed on the screen. It makes it real hard to understand if I have typed the correct letter/characters sometimes. If I go to tap the Backspace key a few times to delete it's delayed as well.

When I reboot the problem is gone. Very strange problem and I am sure it's a bug or something that causes a memory leak of some sort somewhere. Call me crazy... LOL!

Anybody else experience this?

I'm curious as to whether yer keyboard is a USB one. Could be the USB port is underpowered or something. You could try plugging your keyboard into another port (if it is USB). Do not plug it into a USB hub. Try plugging it directly into one of the rear ports on your computer.

Hello everyone ! I have a slight problem with my wifes typing on web pages and that seems to be the only place it takes place does not happen in word or any other software installed just the world wide web. she is using IE 8 due to the fact she will not let me upgrade here system from XP so anyway whenever she starts hammering away over there in he corner the text input on the web page does not keep up with her input on the key board. She has to stop for 2 to 4 seconds and wait for her typing to appear on the screen . Have not had the chance to disable all add ons yet as she always seems to be there when I have a chance to work on her system. I have though run several virus scans and malware scans and so forth and so on but nothing really showing up to amount to anything. Everything goes in fine in word and whatever else she uses just seems to be the web . I hope I have been clear enough to explain the situation so if more info is needed I will do my best to offer and continue to research on.

No, but i can probably tell you that the problem is the 1.60GHz processor. You will probably need atleast 1.80GHz to 2.00GHz clock speed.

This lag doesnt happen always but once it starts, i usually have to restart my pc to get it to stop. Is there something wrong with the intel driver? or what i have no idea!!

Thank you for any insight/suggestions

I just got this HP Pavilion x360 (the convertible laptop/tablet) last week, and I've been having troubles with the keyboard. On certain websites, such as this one, there is no typing delay. However, on Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and Word Online, the characters I'm typing DO NOT appear on the screen at the same time that I'm typing them. It either freezes for a second and then quickly inputs all of what I've typed, or it just takes a few seconds longer for each key I press to show up on the screen. I've checeked to make sure Filterkeys isn't enabled and that no extensions are running in the browser. This happens in both Microsoft Edge and Chrome. P.S. when I was registering for an HP support account, I just realized that the @ key and the " are switched. So shift+2 gives me an ", and shift+" gives me an @ sign. Please help! I really like the computer other than this horrible typing lag.

When I restart or turn on my lap top after it's been off for a while it will only give me my background picture. No icons, no start menu at the bottom, nothing. Until I try to run a new task from the task manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL is the only keystroke-type command I know) Then everything starts appearing as if nothing was wrong. When I type online there is a huge delay between when I push the buttons and when they appear on the screen. My virus scans show nothing is wrong. (I use trend-mirco's firewall and virus scanning products and also use firefox and I don't know if trend-micro only works on internet explorer or not...) I tried defragmenting to try and speed up the typing ting but it did no good... I don't know what is wrong but I do know that I can't get the updates from the updates.microsort.com website even though they are in the trusted websites thing in internet explorer (which is what I used to try and get the updates because you can't get them through firefox) and every time I open the computer (even from stand-by) I get a message from trend micro telling me it is stopping unauthorized changes and that change is some sort of "program Library Injection" that has to be blocked about a hundred times in a minute for the first 2 to 5 minutes of the computer being on. I don't know what is wrong but I do know that something is not right.

So it may just be a coincidence. I just installed Windows 10 on my PC. And now when I try to type in yahoo mail it only lets me type one letter at a time. Then I get this twirling blue icon indicating it is working on adding that ONE letter to the message. I have never had this problem before.

Has anyone else had this problem. And if so, how might I get yahoo mail to accept letters typed as I type them?

Hi all.

I come now with a new problem. I pretended for some time I did not care, but that is now making me pull the hair from my head.

I installed something (which I did not pay attention to at that time and I don't remember what it was) and too many other programs after that (programs I constantly use, and therefore I don't want to get rid of). If I roll back my computer to an earlier time to dismiss this problem, I would be uninstalling all those valuable programs I am talking about.

Since the first installation, when I select in excel (using the mouse), when I am typing in Word, Internet or whatever other program, things stop working. There is a delay in response. I type, but I don't see what is just typed on the screen, because the computer freezes undexpectedly, and then it comes with the whole thing at once. In the meantime, I could have made a mistake in typing, but because I couldn't see it right away on the screen, I cannot be sure if I made it, and have to wait until the computer 'defreezes' back and keeps working along.
The delay doesn't last too long, but it's frequent and recurrent. So it's always there. It is a pain in the neck, and I am being very decent to say it.

It is not the Ram, because I have plenty of it. It is not the speed of the chip, because my computer is not old. It is not a wrong installation of the programs I installed because everything works fine at the end. It is just that freaking delay that re... Read more

GPU: GeForce GTX 770
CPU: i5 760 @2.80 Ghz
Motherboard: Asus P7H55
PSU: CoolerMaster GX-750W
Display: Acer v193w
Audio: Fatal1ty headphones, Hi-Cube speakers
Input devices: mid-range a4tech products

So, I had had gtx650Ti for some time until it started performing very poorly (natural death, in the name of technological progress I guess).
Along with obvious frame drops though, for some reason came input lag.
I upgraded to GTX770 relatively recently and the problem still exists, except it is worse now.
Since the problem started I have changed my hard drives too.
Suprisingly, after getting the new GPU, audio lag came into play to make the matters worse, or so I think it did (maybe I just didn't notice it before, but it is a bit unlikely).

What could be the problem?
I have cleaned my registry, only run essential programs and services, don't constantly use an antivirus, have the most recent GPU drivers with setting optimised purely for performance (along with disabled screen scaling), don't use mouse\peripherals softwares or enhancement options of my monitor...
HPET isn't available in my BIOS settings, by the way.
I have successully ran a lagless computer using the current display (got it directly after an CRT monitor a good few years ago, so I would feel the difference in resposiveness) before.

Any more suggestions?

Title I wanted to use: Windows XP SP3: Slow Startup / Boot: Black Screen Delay & Delay after logging in

For some reason I can't preview my post when I use this title: I have tried removing all the punctuation, including the &, which doesn't work and have tried other titles with the same character length, which does work.

Problem Begins Here:

When I turn on or restart my computer, the boot up time from the time I press the power button to the time the final icon on my desktop loads is slow. I am not too concerned about the time after my desktop is shown since I have several items to run at startup.

The two areas of concern are:

1) After the XP logo is shown, my screen goes black. This lasts for about 17 to 19 seconds. I don't know when this started as I rarely restart my computer. The problem is worse if I startup in Safe Mode. It's about 1 minute and 10 seconds before I see anything on the screen, and another 40 seconds before something else is shown on screen. Note: In order to not to have to waste time pressing F8 and choosing Safe Mode, I enter safe mode by specifying so in msconfig. The options I chose were /SAFEBOOT and Minimal.

2) After I login, there is a delay of about 30 to 45 seconds before the desktop is shown. Windows stays at the login confirmation screen during that time. This I feel has happened recently.

Boot Time Results tested using a stopwatch:

Normal Boot (i.e. Not Safe Mode):

It's not boot-up delay, it's a device start-up delay like after pressing the power button, just keyboard back light blinks once and nothing will happen and it's taking 35 to 40 seconds (earlier it's 1 to 3 seconds) after pressing the power button to show Lenovo UEFI screen along with Windows loading animation (this boot-up is quick like earlier versions about 5 to 7 seconds). Re-installed the complete OS (clean install) and re-installed the BIOS (Version BACNA0WW and BIOS date 07/15/2016). But nothing helps. Changed to earlier version of windows with clean install (the one with creators update, but issue not resolved.) Formatted complete drive and cleared all partitions (including OEM) and installed on a fresh partition, re-flashed BIOS, but nothing helps. Later I thought about hardware issue. Opened laptop, removed display connector, cleaned and attached, but issue not resolved. So, it's not a new Windows issue and It might be a problem with BIOS and it needs to be updated. Since my laptop is mote than 3 years old, Lenovo probably don't bother about updating this BIOS. Any solution that I missed? Thanks in advance.

I have had this problem for nearly a month. When I type anywhere in IE it does this: "the quick rownfx jumped overthe lazy dg". It works fine in Firefox (but I dont like it) and works fine in Notepad or Wordpad etc. Here is what I have done so far.

Replaced Keyboard. (Gates you owe me $15.)
Gone though the "Add-ons" one by one.
Uninstalled Google Earth.
Uninstalled Itunes.
I spent 2 hours on the phone with Microsoft Tech Support.
They had me turning things on and off and still no solution. (I had plans to go see Jeff Dunham so I had to go. He was great BTW.)

Everything I have searched for has never had a solution.

Do hope you can help.

I type a few words in any program and then my Tecra A11 stops typing and there is no cursor or responsiveness until I click on the page I was typing on, reposition the cursor and I can then start typing again.

It's taken me several "clicks" to get this amount of text typed and this is driving me crazy. I can't seem to find why it is doing it.

Have you any ideas please?

A:Tecra A11 - typing stalls every few words in the middle of typing

It is not easy to understand what happen exactly.
Maybe I understand you wrong but i think the certain window where you are typing becomes inactive and you must activate it clicking on it.

Have i understood you right?

Try disconnecting your mouse or updating the drivers/software for the mouse and see if the problem continues.
Is it wireless?

Hi all,
Very strange problem with my IE7 on Win XP system (Fujitsu Siemens laptop Xi1546 btw).

Basically, so far ive only noticed it on those 2 sites but essentially the problem is, certain links on the site, when clicked, do nothing.
Youtube for e.g. the videos always have a 10 minute delay before they load. Regardless of time of day, whether im using GB youtube servers, or the kind of video, OR even if i change go home and use my home internet, same problem: 10 minute delay before the video loads. This must mean a setting which has gone awry? Metacafe works fine and it also uses Shockwave so why does my laptop hate youtube?
Also if i click to change servers on youtube, e.g. choose youtube UK, IE just 'loads' the page but stays stuck. Other websites work fine so its not a temporary lack of internet thats causing this.

Facebook is really bad and has the same 'loading but stuck problem.' I post messages on walls and it stays stuck but if i click profile, that loads instantly and it says ive posted..? I cant goto the groups page, or events, it just stays stuck and wont load. ive had this problem for about a couple of months..

overall i think its a setting for my IE, but what do you think? really appreciate help, really fed up.

hello everyone

I changed my OS form vista to windows 7 home premium 32bit, since changing I'm facing problem when I'm typing.

The typing arrow move by its self while typing. for example if I'm writing a sentence the arrow suddenly move to beginning of the sentence or middle etc.

example : *I'm typing now* - * I'm tynowping*

its like I'm clicking there but I'm not!

I'm using Lenovo T400 and I updated all the drivers.

A:Moving typing error when typing

Dear Luna333,
Welcome! Sorry for the delay. Are you using a mouse OR the Touch pad(laptop). A moving cursor is quite common for laptops. I guess there is a way to disable the touch pad and allow use of the mouse.

Regards and best wishes,

I have tried to fix this but to no avail. This is a list of what I have tried (I probably forgot a few things):

- run IE9 with no add-ons
- run IE9 in 64bit mode
- tried the above 2 in safe mode
- deleted the registry keys corresponding to Spybot, even though it's not installed
- uninstalled and reinstalled IE9
- "regsvr32 actxprxy.dll" in an admin cmd
- reset to default settings in the advanced tab
- tried with GPU rendering on and off
- ran Malwarebytes and found nothing

I have a Q9400, 8GB RAM, Radeon 6850, and a SSD for my W7x64 Ultimate; so my computer is blistering fast. Any more ideas? Thanks

Doubt you want to hear this, but my honest solution to the problem is to use either firefox or chrome instead.
I have friends who put your system to shame and I.E. just never seems to 'pop' for them.

the other day i was putting in a new dvd rom when i noticed there is a some play in my cpu heatsink, i also move my pc around alot to other ppl;s houses for lan setups etc... and was wondering if im gonna do any damage soon by rubbing away the thermal paste from vibration and movment? i have checked the temps and reaches 50- 54 deg C under loads. the heatsink is a coolermaster aero 7+ setup. thinking about it even worse i could chip or sratch the die on the cpu and that would not be a good thing

A:a slight concern

Your Temps seem normal...from what I have learned 45 degrees Celsius is fine under no load...not sure about the thermal paste wearing away from movement - if that's happeneing, perhaps it wasn't a secure bond in the first place? I will defer to some of our resident experts...

update the mouse driver by going to the manufactures site and downloading the latest driver. Then go to device manager and update the driver, browse your computer for the downloaded file when asked. Do the same for the sound driver.

Hello, guys. I have an acer aspire v17 nitro (gtx960m 2gb) and I was playing Witcher 3 on windows 7 with the same settings as I am playing it now on windows 10 but the game was so much smoother in windows 7 than it is on windows 10. I get micro stutters from time to time, when I turn mouse I can see it slightly lag and jump sometimes and overall the movement of the Witcher is not as smooth as compared to in windows 7. I have set max pre rendered frames to 1 in windows 7 because I had micro stutters there and it fixed the problem, did the same in windows 10 but nothing much changed. Disabled v-sync of course and even tried the fix by setting the frames to unlimited in the game settings and editing the .ini file to change the framerate to 59 fps but didn't help much either. Maybe it's something with windows 10? How could I optimize windows 10 better? Perhaps disable the windows update, disable some unnecessary services? Any help is appreciated.

Hey guys, some of you probably remember a topic I made several weeks ago about a build I was making.

Some situations have put me in a corner, and tightened my budget.

So, I came up with a new build, and being my first build, Im not an expert.

Could you check this build, recommend what to change, or if anything is not compatible with something else and why. Thank you so much in advance!

Motherboard: EVGA 113-M2-E113 AM2+/AM2
Processor: AMD Phenom 9600 2.3 GHz 95W - Quad.
Hard Drive: 1TB SATA 3.0Gb/s 3.5"
CD-Drive: LITE-ON Note: I am getting two, so I can have two CD's in, (Yes, I'm too lazy to change them.)
Power Supply: Corsair 750W
Graphics: EVGA 1GB 256-bit NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250
Case: Sunbeam Silent Storm
Adapter: [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812201005] 12V 8pin to 12V 4pin. (Motherboard has an 8pin CPU Power connector, and power supply has only a 4pin.)

Thanks Guys!

Hi iTragedy.....

its looking pretty good, might i suggest THIS motherboard & THIS chip to bundle with the rest of your list.....the ''intel'' setup will out perform the ''AMD'' by a fair bit

i see you listed no RAM so i would suggest THIS , its very cheap so if you wanted to push the boat out you could buy 2 sets & run 8GB..

Had a problem with my other system. Had to do a low level format, and reload W2k. Everything went find, and am getting all my programs back up and running.

But, when I go to windows update and scan for new updates, it shows "no updates availible at this time". I know there are critical updates needed. It also has the link to check priviously installed updated grayed out..

My other computer, also running W2k has no problems with the windows site. Any ideas what might be causing this?

As always, any help is appreciated!!

Ever since I got DSL it's been a pain.
Files being received over MSN take forever, and they sometimes stop all together. I usually receive a lot of file transfers due to things that I do in my free time. Sending transfers isn't the problem, just receiving them.
I'm using the Zone Alarm Firewall, as I'm not too sure how to use ZyXel's for their Prestige 660W/HW series, I've made sure ZyXel's is disabled.
I've checked my security settings on the Zone Alarm, but I'm not too sure exactly what needs to be where to make this work correctly.

Internet Security Zone is set at the default High.

Trusted Zone Security is set at default medium.

MSN messenger is on an approved programs list.
If someone could help me it'd be greatly appreciated.
Heck if someone could help me set up the ZyXel firealarm if it'd be easier to use than the ZA, it'd be appreciated as well..

I'm kinda at a loss here..

It seems that anytime I plug anything into a new usb port it seems to install as a new device and because of this it gets a new number in device manager, like scanjet 2200c, then scanjet 2200c #2, then another scanjet 2200c #3 or something like that. Its a pet peeve, and it doesn't really impair functionality but I'd like to get it back to the original.

A:Slight annoyance

Did you remove cd after installing scanjet 2200c the first time?

I just bought a new laptop and any audio played has a reverb effect. It's really frustrating and I don't know how to get rid of it. It uses Realtek HD Audio. I've tried updating the driver but nothing happened. No enhancements are on either.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 11 3157 with Windows 10.

UPDATE: I've noticed voices have a slight robotic sounding effect, but this may be because of it.

I've been noticing a button appearing on my task bar with no title and then disappearing quickly. It's icon is the same as a com file. I know that that often means things like trojans and other things.
So, I scanned with my anti-virus (AVG Home), Ad-Aware, and Spybot: Search & Destry, all freshly updated with nothing found. Then, I looked over my HJT log and found nothing unusual running.
I'm not having any other problems other than the button, but it's making me nervous.
It appeared around the same time that I installed drivers and software for an HP All-in-one Printer/Scanner combo... So, could that be it?
Any input is greatly appreciated...
