E595 - Incorrect ram frequency

Q: E595 - Incorrect ram frequency

Hey I just added another 8GB on my thinkpad to make it dual channel. The original one is 2666mhz, the new one is 2400. Shouldnt that be aligned with the lowest frequency one to get both on 2400? Here's was I get on CPUZ. How do I fix this knowing I cant do anything in the BIOS?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I've just finished my first System build and after runnign CPU-Z I found my Frequency on Corsair Vengeance 1866Mhz RAM to be 1333Mhz. (665 doubled approx 1333) I am wondering if I can correct this without damaging the modules, I complete their full potential without damaging themselves, and hopefully without producing much more heat.

A:RAM frequency Incorrect

The RAM frequency depends on your motherboard chipset. In other words, it doesn't matter if you have 5000Mhz RAM, if the motherboard chipset runs as 1000Mhz, the RAM will run at 1000Mhz.

What is the make and model of your motherboard, and which cpu is installed?

Two 512GB Sticks of DDR 333mhz on an ASUS A7n8x-E Deluxe With an AMD 3200+ 400 Mhz FSB

No matter what I have tried in the bios I cannot get it to come up correct on boot I see that it says memory is at 166 Mhz, Dual Channel enabled.

When I try to change multipliers and things in the bios the closest I can get the frequency is 334 Mhz Which I would gladly take but the system becomes unstable and just restarts itself when ever it feels like it then.

ASUS in there infinite wisdom told me to turn the CMOS battery around for 30 seconds and then gave me settings to use. Well I did that and ended up with exactly the same number 166.

If anyone can figure this out please let me know.

Thank you in advance

A:Incorrect Memory Frequency

Forgive me if I am stating the obvious, but the MB is correct when it reports the FSB @ 166mhz. Dual channel means it is effectively doubled giving you 333FSB. The MB can only run its FSB at the speed of the slowest component - being the memory in your case. So it is correctly setting your FSB to 166.

If you got DDR3200 RAM (400mhz) your MB would set itself to 200mhz FSB. Dual channel making it 400mhz.

Make sense?

Trevor

Im having a strange problem when im overclocking,
the cpu freq changes to random values, so does the multiplier.
It has done this with both the fox one OC utilily and the easy tune 6 OC utility
im using currently. I know they arent the true values because my PC wouldnt run at (1000mhz) for example. I dont press anything it just does it, this makes OCing
more difficult because it wont tell me the true CPU freq values.

Can anyone help me on this one?

Hi,

I have a list of terms like:

Phrase Frequency
Hello Mother 5
Hello Brother 2
Hello Jackal 1

Is there a way I can get the cumulative frequency of each word in the list?

From the above example, the answer would be:
Hello 8
Mother 5
Brother 2
Jackal 1

Any help would be most appreciated.

I was at Goodwill yesterday and I found an ECS K7SEM v1.0 motherboard for $6. Assuming that it works, I wouldn't mind getting an AMD cpu and some RAM to get this going as a multi-purpose additional computer for my apartment.

The original intent of this board was for AMD processor running at either 100Mhz or 133Mhz FSB. The manual for the motherboard says that the RAM speed cannot be less than the processor FSB. For example: according to the manual, if the CPU has a FSB of 133Mhz, then PC133 RAM must be used and PC100 RAM cannot be used. If a CPU has a FSB of 100Mhz, then either PC100 or PC133 RAM can be used, but not PC66.

This manual was printed in 2001. However, in 2002/2003, a new BIOS upgrade was created for this board to allow support for Athalon XP 2100 and 2200 processors.

I was looking at an AMD XP processor at newegg and realized that the FSB is 266Mhz, according to the specs. I always get confused about FSB ratings. Are you supposed to divide this number by 2 with AMD chips? Like if the FSB is 266Mhz, should I use PC133 RAM to be compliant with the statement in the manual about using RAM that matches or exceeds the CPU FSB?

Another question I had is related to the new BIOS update that supports the newer processors. Would I need to use an old processor in order to update the BIOS before I can use the XP processor? Or will I be able to update to the XP supporting BIOS with the XP processor already in the socket?

If everything goes smooth... Read more

When an AthlonXP is advertised with a 266mhz FSB, it is actually running at 133mhz but its DDR nature makes it run as fast as a 266mhz FSB. Any 266mhz AthlonXP should work on that board provided it isn't above the 2200+ ( 1800mhz ).

I just received my new mobo. I recently had a Hard Drive problem that led me to believe the mobo was faulty.

After putting the parts together again, I recieve an error in BIOS.

"During the last boot-up your system hung for improper frequency combination."

I did not change any of the CPU settings and left them as default.
They are currently:
CPU frequency multiple - 15.0x
CPU external frequency 133/33
The rest is auto.

My specs are:
Athlon XP 2400
A7V8X-X motherboard
512 DDR PC 2700

I cannot get out of BIOS, every time I save and exit, it will not reboot. I have to restart and it sends me back to BIOS with the problem. I am not sure what to do about this.

Is there any possible explainations as to why the RAM speed is restricted to 2400 MHz even tho they are designed for 2666MHz, and the fact that i7-8850H does support 2666MHz?(Yeah Ik that?s what it says in the configuration page and I paid for 2400 MHz, but it would be quite unreasonable since 1) it is a 2666 MHz RAM in there, and 2) there is no option for 2666 MHz RAM configuration.)

A:P52 RAM Frequency

Looking at the platform specs, it describes 2400 as the speed limit and says it is an Intel limitation.  I was curious and tried to check the  capabilities of the chipset ( CM246).

I found this document:
https://www.intel.co.jp/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/datasheets/300-series-chipset-pch-dat...

A lot of it is over my head, but way down on page 181 it talks about the I2C bus speed of 2400.  I think that's all you can get.  Memory comes much faster for applications that allow overclocking, but your CPU doesn't allow that process, and the cooling and power supply would also be affected.

Heya

I have this online game that I play(Asheron's Call) and I've played it for years on the same monitor(Gateway EV700)

My motherboard is Canyon, and my Graphics Driver is Intel (R) Extreme

Recently I had to format the computer and completely wipe everything and start from scratch. When I got the computer working again I reinstalled all the necessities(Internet Connection, Asheron's Call, Anti-Virus etc) but I forgot to install the Drivers. When I clicked on Asheron's Call(the game) to play it a black screen came up but instead of it displaying the game it displayed a small turquise box with a purple box inside it.

It read:

Out of Frequency

HF: 75.2KHz
VF: 75.0Hz

Operating Frequency
HF: 30(-)70 KHz
VF: 50(-)160Hz

Power save after 20 seconds.(this counts down to 0, unless I minimize the game, in which case the box disappears until i maximize the game again, in which case the countdown re-starts.If I let the timer run out, the green light on my monitor turns orange, and the screen goes on standby or whatever.then I have to turn off the monitor and turn it back on)
I talked to a friend of mine who said I should install my Graphics Driver(I hadn't done this yet) so I used the motherboard CD to install the Graphics Driver, and the game worked fine.

Now today when I try and play the game, I'm getting this Out of Frequency message again. Can somebody help me please?

It simply means that the game is trying to drive the monitor at a higher refresh rate than it can display.

The frequency error message comes from the monitor, not from the PC.

Without knowing anything about the type of monitor you have, we cannot advise what the maximum settings are. They are set by your graphics controller.

Several calls to the vendor have failed to resolve the issue or even educate me.

The question I have is what is this 'frequency' and two, why does it cause the application to freeze while the 8 cores are relaxing ?
Any insight is most appreciated and thanks.

A:CPU Frequency What is it?

“% of Maximum Frequency” represents the current CPU clock speed as a percent of its rated speed. For example, if you have a 2.8 GHZ CPU and performance monitor indicates 28%, then the CPU is running at 784 MHz.

Here is a decent article that explains how performance monitor works: http://blogs.technet.com/b/winserve...cpu-utilization-for-performance-analysis.aspx

I don't use CPUZ so I can't interpret where it got that 399/400 number. That usually applies to DDR2 modules, as you can see...or your RAM is underclocked currently so that it performs like DDR3-800. Memory Clock: 100 MHz. Bus Clock: 400 MHz. Data Transfers/Sec.: 800,000,000. Module Name: PC3-6400.

I am not certain why there's a substantial difference for idling CPU frequency between W8.1 and W7. My PC runs both OS in dual-boot mode, controlled by EUFI "F12" key. Other than both OS having it's own SSD drive, the hardware is identical.

Both OS used HWMonitor, v1.27.0, initially just to see the CPU temperature that lead me to the CPU frequency differences.

The HWMonitor for Windows 7 shows this:

The same for Windows 8.1 shows this:

And no, there isn't anything pegging the CPU, W8.1 task manager shows low CPU utilization around at the time the HWMonitor image had been captured:

The CPU speed/frequency is actually confirmed by the task manager. Is speedstep broken in Windows 8.1, or HWMonitor is not accurate?

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

It sounds to me like your bios has been reset to the default settings, which will mean your fsb is probably set to 100mhz.

You need to go into your bios, and select the advanced tab, and then the advanced chipset configuration.

you will need to set the cpu frequency(fsb) to what ever your cpu should run at, I.E it will either be 133mhz/166mhz/200mhz depending on your cpu.

You can check your cpu specs at the AMD website.http://139.95.253.213/SRVS/CGI-BIN/...217292174,K=9272,Sxi=6,RESTART,DTree=OBJ(2132) Click on processor specs, followed by your type of cpu.

Hello guyz,

Yesterday, I pressed the 'del' key while i startup my computer and then a blue screen appeared. I entered the 'SOYO COMBO SETUP' then i adjusted CPU frequency from 650Mhz to manual, and i found that i could change my CPU frequency to 806Mhz. Oh, these was cool! But i just afraid it could be dangerous. Anywhere, I'm curious why its changable and I don't know what will happend after i change the value.

Sorry, i'm just wondering. OK.

A:CPU frequency can change meh?

You are at the beginning steps of overclocking.
Intel chips speed is determined by the multiplier(in your case default at 6.5, this feature is locked internally in the chip and cannot be changed) and front side bus speed (100mhz default with your chip, with the right motherboard and bios this speed can be changed as you have found)

What will happend if you change the value, depends on your system and if it can handle it.

By overclocking the front side bus to 124 as you found you are also overclocking the agp bus from default 66mhz to 83 mhz, the pci bus is also overclocked from the default 33mhz to 41mhz.

What's it mean.

agp bus overclocking, some video cards will tolerate it, some won't. Can cause crash and lockups

pci bus, hardest on hard drives, some won't take the faster bus and you get corrupt data errors or in some rare cases failed hard drives.

front side bus at 124, if you have good memory(pc133) it will handle it, if you have pc100 it probably won't be able to run that fast without lots of errors.

Biggest problem HEAT
The increased frequency will generate a larger amount of heat. If you have a very good heatsink/fan and case ventilation it may work, if not it's going to crash.

Chip voltage, generally overclocked chips to be stable will need the vcore voltage upped a small amount, this also creates more heat and stability problems.
If your going to do it, do it in small increments. Your bios should allow you to make changed to lower... Read more

Good Day,

I hope someone can assist me.
I have been having a problem whilst gaming (although this also runs over onto net use when playing flash games ie. pokemon global link), I've noticed that my pc/game would stutter immensely for a while and then would run fine again.

I've found that in resource manager when this happens that my frequency rate drops from 100% to 25% and then after a time goes back to a 100% (stuttering then stops)

At first I thought it was with NT Kernal & System and through that and following a guide on how to locate the problem, I've established that it is the driver amdppm.sys

I'm not a terribly technical person, so thanks to all the tutorial makers out there.
I've then tried replacing the amdppm.sys with a different version of the same file, the stuttering stops, however after a period of time, my laptop would shut itself down completely.... so I replaced the previous file that I had thankfully made a copy of.

As helpful as google, this site and various others have been. I've yet to find a way to rectify the problem... without causing anymore and as I've said, I'm not terribly technical and fear that I might worsen the problem more before ever being able to fix it.

Please if anyone knows of a way to fix this, it would be greatly appreciated.

Stupid question perhaps:

Just built my first custom PC a week ago, running great. But the memory I bought (512Mb Kingston DDR pc2700) says 333Mhz on the pkg, however the default setting or whatever is 266mhz. Is it perfectly safe for me to up the memory frequency to 333mhz in the BIOS or am I confusing that with something else?

A:Memory frequency....

Congrats on your first pc build. Glad to hear everything's running fine.

The memory frequency and cpu frequency are 2 different frequencies.
The PC2700 memory is rated to run up to 333mhz (166mhz x2)
but the default frequency in the bios is 266mhz (133 x2) since the default FSB is 133MHz and your cpu/memory ratio is 1:1.

You most certainly should be able to run your memory at 333mhz as long as your motherboard bios has that option.

There are 2 ways for you to overclock your memory through your bios. The first and most common way is for you to increase your FSB to 166mhz w/ a cpu/memory ratio of 1:1.

There also might be an option in your bios that gives you a cpu/memory ratio of 3:4 or 4:5.

Before you start overclocking your cpu and memory, you might want to check out www.overclockers.com and do some research or ask a few questions. We will be most willing to help you get started.

(didn't MS say win 7 will not have this issue??)
anyhow i automatically assumed it was a problem with the ram & purchased a new Transcend 800mhz 2GB DDR2 module.
Previously i had TWO modules of 1GB 667mhz DDR2 ram.

Obvious, it turned out that the problem was not with the ram as i continued having the blue screen even after ram replacement.
The Motherboard i have is the XFX nforce 650i which supports both frequencies.

so is it ok to use these 3 modules of ram?

Okay, I'm totally stumped on this. It started few weeks ago, when every morning that I would turn on my computer my monitor would display a signal saying "frequency out of range" I would then manually turn off my pc and turn it on again until an image was displayed. I tried checking the resolution and everything was fine, refresh rate was fine and everything. I have an AMD 6670 and an HD1700 gateway monitor. I already tried updating my drivers and entered in safe mode. Now, the strange thing is, it ONLY happens on mornings. I keep my computer on most of the day, but I've turned it off and on during the day to see if I still received the same message and it works just fine. This doesn't happen when I play games or anything only every morning on startup and I have to reboot until I see an image on my screen after about three tries and then it works fine even if I reboot it. I'm using Windows 7 Professional.

Instead of rebooting the computer try, unplugging the power cable to the monitor, pressing the power button on the monitor, then plugging it back in and turning on the monitor and see if that works as well.

You also need to list the full and complete specs of the computer. Be sure to include the make and model of the power supply as well; you may have to open the side of the computer to see the sticker on the power supply. Or if its a brand name system list the exact model and any upgraded parts you have. You can use the TSG Info tool to fill in your missing computer information in your user profile as well: http://forums.techguy.org/7586892-post1.html

On my account on my computer, whenever i switch user instead of logging off, when i get back on and want to go back on my account, i type the password, hit enter, and the screen goes black with a blue box in the middle with the words "H.V Frequency Over Range" what does this mean and how can i make it so i can switch user without having to hit "log off" on my account? thanks a ton

A:H.V Frequency Over Range???

What version of Windows?

The frequency message comes from the monitor and has nothing to do with Windows. It means that the video mode is being switched and the VGA signal is not valid at the moment.

My P50 i7-6820HQ always runs near max turbo speed in Windows 10, even with no load.  I'm not sure when this changed, but I know it behaved properly in the past with low idle speeds and often 0 fan speed.  I don't see anything unusual in BIOS (1.42).  I temporarily reverted to an earlier BIOS when I noticed the issue, but this had no effect. I don't see any programs or services that look unusual.  Power profiles have no effect.  Same on battery or AC.  I regularly scan for spyware, etc. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi- I don't know if this is exactly the type of service you provide... but I'm just looking for a possible cause to a problem that seems to have the local techs that I've talked to stumped. My Gateway, WIN'98- about two years old... has developed a nasty habit of going black and then giving me a rolling screen that says
OUT OF FREQUENCY
HF 28.0 Hz
UF 62.0 Hz
OPERATING FREQUENCY
HF 30-70 Hz
UF 50-120 Hz
POWER SAVER AFTER
20 SECONDS
Then it counts down the seconds and shuts off. Sometimes if I hit escape I can get back to the desktop. Sometimes I get nothing and can only shut the computer off. It happens on or off line. If you are providing "trouble shooting" technical assistance I would sure appreciate a bit of advice. People who know more than I do... which is everybody seem to think "moniter" but I still dont have a clue. Thanks- Ted [email protected]

A:Moniter frequency???

Well, that message means that your monitor is no longer getting a signal from your computer.

This can mean that your computer stopped sending a signal, it can mean that your monitor stopped receiving, or that there is something wrong with the cable from the monitor to the computer.

The first, and easiest, test, is to hook up another monitor (or hook your monitor up to another computer) and see if the problem continues. If it stays with the computer, it is not the monitor...

I have a computer with AMD E-450 dual core processor. It is quite slow and I have been trying to work out if each processor has 1.65Ghz frequency (totalling 3.3 Ghz) or if each processor has only 0.825 Ghz frequency (totalling 1.65 Ghz). Can anyone tell me? Thank you.

A:Processor frequency

If the cores are rated at 1.65Ghz then each core is 1.65 Ghz.
They are not additive.
Some software will use both cores, some won't.
1.65 Ghz is not all that fast by todays standards.

So I was playing Counter-Strike, and was messing around with the resolutions on the game. I forgot which resolution I switched to; it was some where around the 7XX by XXX. Anyways, after I changed to that resolution my monitor went black screen and gave me a message saying, "Frequency Out Of Range". Even though it's black screened I can still move the mouse around and here the sound effects but I can't see anything. I'm pretty sure that it's the resolution I changed to because my video card (GeForce 7900 GT) doesn't support that resolution. Anyways if any one of you guys could help me out, that would be nice.

Hey, NVM I fixed the problem already. I had to run it in windows mode. Alt+Enter doesn't work in game, you have to manually set it in game. However, reading other threads I found out how to run a game window mode. So here's what I did:

1) Right click Counter-Strike desktop shortcut
2) Properties
3) It should say: ["C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 10] add a -window to the end of that statement.
4) It should then say: ["C:\Program Files\Steam\steam.exe" -applaunch 10 -window]
5) Run the game, and it should run in window mode.

So after I ran it, I just changed back the resolution and problem fixed.
