Help Using Regsvr32 And Depends.exe Needed

Q: Help Using Regsvr32 And Depends.exe Needed

I'm trying to fix IE6 by re-registering Oleaut32.dll and I've read that I need to use regsvr32.exe to do this. I've run it from Start/Run command line but it says it is not a win32 application. Then I read that it needs to be run from a DOS prompt but I am using WinXP (sp2). Also I would like to know how to use a program Depends.exe which shows the dependent modules for dll's. Thankyou

Preferred Solution: Help Using Regsvr32 And Depends.exe Needed

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello all!
I have a serious problem with a program that my job uses. It is a virtual machine, which allows me to run a separate "machine" within my own. They use this so my personal side of my pc doesn't interfere with the business side, and vice versa. Well, I have downloaded the files several times now, and they appear to dl just fine. Until I run the setup.exe. Then I get an error "1334" every time. I have seen some forums online about this issue, but none that were helpful. The error tells me that it could be a network problem, or a problem with the package. The package comes in .cab files, and each time I re download the package, a different cab malfunctions. My trainer thinks it could be my security, so I disabled it and re did the download. No good. I worked with tech support til almost 1am last night to no avail. I was informed that if I could not figure out what was wrong with my system, or obtain a different system, my job may be at stake. Can someone help me please??

Can you be more specific as to what virtual machine, where you downloaded from, and what security may be interfering.

Oh please someone save my bacon!!!!!

I have a new job with a Time Share Resort. In these trying times, I'm trying to make the best impression I can. I am building an Excel Spread sheet that will allow others to enter data that I will then compile and create reports with.I just can't figure out how to write this formula or if it can even be accomplished. I have 1 column (Column A) that other users will populate with Room numbers. I would then like the second column (Column B) to auto populate with a Home owner's association number and a 3rd column (Column C) to auto populate with the average rack rate for that room that referenced from hidden columns. I have 3 pre-populated columns hidden, titled (Column R) Room Numbers (Column S) HOA numbers and (Column T) average Rack Rates. The Rows in the columns (R, S, and T) reference each other: example: If R1 is Room # 1001, then S1 is HOA 1, and T1 is $212.00. So if someone types in 1001 in A7, then the data that corresponds from Column R, in this case 1001 will reference Column S and Column T and auto populate that info into Column B7 and Column C7, respectfully. Is this impossible to do? Or is there a simple formula or macro that can be written to accomplish this?

I truly, truly appreciate any assistance I can get!

I hope someone will help. I have wasted so much time today.
Someone else used my computer (I know, I know) and got the stupid malware newnet on it. I went and run the "fix" for it which then promptly destroyed all my internet connections and I cannot get them back. I have no idea how to proceed. Going through the IE wizard does nothing. I have DSL, and of course normally just have to click on the IE icon to open Google (or whatever)....now no page comes up no matter what I choose.
I cannot reinstall Windows completely as I have not backed up in a long time and it would take me days to complete that....so that's not an option at this moment. (I have to work on this computer in the morning.) Can someone plllllllease tell me what to do?
Thanks in advance!

"kamsoft-ckvoexe-malware". this is what i got after typing this strange autorun that popped up after i started having restart and hardisk AND GAMING PROBLEMS!
I tried to follow instructions i got on google but now it's seems to have gotten pissed.the symptoms before were as follows-
1-kaspersky failure (so uninstalled it 4 my cousins norton 2k4, huge mistake)
2-oblivion would hang (it later completely stopped working after enough attempts)
3-my hardisk would open on a new window
4-I recently had to remove heavy infections of antivirgear and spysheriff so i think there still traces of the malware duo.
5-error messages just before windows logoff/shutdown.

and the symptoms know are-
1-everything above amplified
2-security programs are always terminated(except bitdefender)
3-WAY faster internet (i actually don't mind that)
4-and last but not least my account is not in administration.

that may have been long but please help me. I have tried everything and i doubt reinstalling windows will be healthy to my comp.PLEASE help

Thank you in advance for any help-

Recently I was working on a document with MS Word 2007 when I suddenly received several save related errors regarding my C drive.

The auto-recovery kicked in and I closed the program and restarted the computer. When I returned to open the document in Word, the file was missing. When I tried to open it from the recently opened files drop down, it said "the file could not be found c:\blah"

From my research and from this link:
http://forums.techguy.org/business-applications/632612-disappearing-word-files.html

I think this issue sounds like the Marker virus- and the date that it happened also seems to be evidence to this fact.
A .tmp file also now has a missing path name which I suspect is the one associated with the file I need.
In addition there is an xml file for what I believe may be my document that remanis however it wont open either- Word says this file is corrupt.
Can anyone offer any solution or ideas on how to recover this document?

thanks so much,
Mike

Hi,

I've instaled Win 7 as a second system next to My Vista (both x64). Now I'm emotionally ready to get rid of Vista for number of reasons. Of course Win7 become fully operational and "personalized" system so I don't wont to reinstal Win7...just remove Vista. But my Win7 needs Vista's partition. In magazine I have following description:
"Vista name" D:

healthy (System, Active, Primary)

"Win7 name" C:
(size)
healthy (Boot, Pagefile, backup, primary)

How can I move "required stuff" to C: to be able to delete D: partition?

thanks

Hello Muzzy, welcome to Seven Forums!

Before we make any specific recommendations will you please post a snip/screen-shot of the entire disk management drive map with a full description as to which drive/partition is which, so we can see what you have going on as there may be a fairly simple way to resolve the situation.

In the Windows start menu right click computer and click manage, in the left pane of the "Computer Management" window that opens click disk management and post a snip of that.

Hi folks. depends.exe will not function on my Vista Ultimate x64. Any program I try to start has an error finding IESHIMS.DLL. The program will not profile as a consequence. There is a search sequence that could be modified but this DLL is not within the list.

Search results as a screenshot is attached. There are about 10 of these DLLs with varying dates, locations and versions. The machine runs very well otherwise; no administrative errors in the logs.

The reason this program is being used was spurred on by a Nero tech who supposedly found an error in the Nero 9 diagnostics CAB file. The complaint was that I could not view an MOV in Showtime. I think it is the file which was downloaded from Frostwire. Nero does everything else perfectly. I would still like to get depends to work for general knowledge and future diagnostics.

I cannot find this problem anywhere on the net or in this forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok gang, I have one that really is throwing me for a loop. One computer in my company is having difficulties in sending e-mails through Outlook 2007 running POP3. The part that has me scratching my head is that everything works fine while the computer is connected here in our office, but whenever she leaves, she has intermittent sending issues... it just hangs in the ourbox. It works for the first few minutes then stops sending them out. I have searched all through the Microsoft site and couldn't find anything that related.

Any ideas on what to look for?

A:Outlook 2007 - e-mail stuck in outbox (depends on ISP)...

I had a similar issue, though it may not be the same.

Some ISP's (like AT&T, who I hate and despise and upon whom I heap curses and incantations of evil) won't let you use any SMTP server other than theirs to send mail, even if the e-mail account isn't with them. You have to go through a whole rigamaroll to set it up.

But like I said, your issue may be (and probably is) something different. Are there any error messages?

Hi,

I know this is probably a rather tiresome query, but I've surfed the net endlessly and not found a solution. I'm attempting to populate a memo box, which depends on user choice from a chain of combo boxes (unbound).

I'm creating a classroom planning/assessment database application (the new Learning Essentials for those involved in Australian Education). The system I'm creating, database-wise, is a little complicated (I am an absolute self-taught beginner, so please be kind and precise with your terminology, explaining where I should find the tools you mention). We have 7 "KLAs", which are each chosen with an "Assessable Element" (depending on the KLA) for each grade, which each act as an umbrella for a number of "Knowledge and Understandings" (each K & U has a descriptor of more than 255 characters. Under each "Knowledge and Understanding" is a dozen or so "Detailed Elements" (that the kids get assessed on). So I have the following hierarchy of tables:

KLA
Assessable Elements
Year (or Grade in America-speak)
Ways of Working (differing and dependent on previous choices)
Knowledge and Understandings (includes the descriptor)
Detailed Elements

Each table is linked in hierarchy to the one above via foreign keys (and sometimes to more than one table above (my description is the simplified version - it's more complicated than that). So you can imaging that the KLAs table is quite small (only 7 re... Read more

Hello and thank you for taking time to help me with my computer issue,

I am in no way a computer "smart" person, and will need help step by step, as I am unfamiliar with most terms. Please forgive my ignorance....

Here are my problems...I just got hired (today as a matter of fact, that's why I am freaking out about this) on to a new work-at-home job that will involve using my computer daily starting tomorrow, but have found it to be a MAJOR problem to actually do anything serious on it and need help ASAP.

I just erased 2 virus scanners on my computer and left Malewarebytes' Anti-Malware, so there was no conflict between the 3. I had Windows Defender and Ad-Adware. So the only thing I have left on my computer is Malewarebytes'.

EVERY single time I scan my computer, (I also would get the BSOD when I scanned with the other 2 virus protections as well), whether it be a full system scan or quick scan, I get the "Blue screen of death." It only happens after the scan is complete and is asking me to restart my computer.

I also cannot Google any webpage without it redirecting me to another webpage. No matter what I do, I am constantly being redirected. I use Firefox and sometimes Internet Explorer. Both do the same thing. The only way I can... Read more

Hi barmardiv,

Please note that these fixes are not instantaneous. Most infections require more than one round to properly eradicate.

Please stay with me until given the 'all clear' even if symptoms seemingly abate.

Kindly follow my instructions and please do no fixing on your own or running of scanners unless requested by a helper.

Let's start with Combofix.

1. Download ComboFix from one of these locations:

* IMPORTANT !!! Place combofix.exe on your Desktop
2. Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with ComboFix.
You can get help on disabling your protection programs here

3. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
Note: Windows Vista users will have to right-click on the file and select "Run as Administrator"

4. As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed.

Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Somewhat recently my girlfriends computer got infected with a number of nasty virii, and I had to clean it up. One infected file was regsvr32, which I now think got totally deleted in the process.

This was brought to my attention when I (today) tried to catch her PC up with all of the updates it needs, largest among them being service pack 2. While installing it, at roughly what I would call the halfway point, a message popped up telling me that it could not find regsvr2, and that I should correct the path name and continue. I could not dismiss the message (when I clicked Okay it would just pop up again) and I could not find regsvr32 anywhere on the computer.

I know that I can simply redownload regsvr32, but what I was wondering was, would this open me up to the same virus again, since it was one of the compromised files the first time around?

Could use some help here. Thanks.

A:Regsvr32.exe

Well you would need to start by finding out what is causing these processes to start. Do they start in safe mode also? Other possible places to look would be the Start Menu > Programs > Startup and also Start Menu > Run > msconfig > startup tab. both of those locations are possible locations for programs that are started automatically when windows starts.

There is a good possibility that you have a virus of some sort. I would advise you to look over the First Steps at Removing Malware .

Hi PistonBroke Please follow the directions given in your other thread here. Once your system is clean of malware, etc. any other problems you are still experiencing will be easier to deal with if they still remain. Regards, KoanYorel

i tried to load up a demo using my firefox browser and i keep gettin' this regsvr32 error, dll was loaded but the dll register server entry point was not found, file cannot be registered...is there some kind of tool that i can run to fix this problem?

A:regsvr32

Per http://support.microsoft.com/kb/249873Dllname was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer or DllUnregisterServer entry point was not found.Dllname is not a .dll or .ocx file. For example, typing regsvr32 wjview.exe generates this error message. That means (to me)...either sloppy coding, a damaged file, or malware (possibly). If it's coding, there's nothing you can do. If the file is damaged, you need to try a different copy. If it's malware...good luck with your system defenses.Louis

Hey guys, I really didn't know what would be the best section to post this in, but here is my problem.

A few days ago I started to get this error message. I am only getting this pop on when I either startup or restart. If I click the "ok" it goes away.

I do run Mcaffee virus protection and have also done the following

1) Ran a temp file cleaner program TFC
2) Also ran a program called malwarebyte
I tried googling the name XefKist and PivlUkfu but came up with nothing.

Just as a side note, I was having a problem with Firefox not allowing me to download anything. The malware program scan corrected the downloading problem, but I really can't say for sure if these 2 are related in anyway.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

A:RegSvr32 error

this looks like a typical startup remnant of some malware. Run hijack this or CC cleaner, it will probably help in clearing out the old entry point.

On a laptop I just installed Windows 7 on I noticed some strange entries in the startup so I disabled them and ran Malwarebytes. I was correct and they were Trojans and Malwarebytes removed them. But now on start up I get Regsvr32 messages saying the module failed to load. These are the same entries I disabled and Malwarebytes removed so how can I get rid of the messages

A:RegSvr32 Errors

Removal of malware will often leave "orphan" entries that were installed by the now-removed malware.  If you can identify such entries in your startup programs, you can use startup tool like Autoruns for Windows to disable them or remove them.

Hello, I recently cleaned a virus and adware from my computer. I rebooted, and I get this error message (is it serious?):

Is this from adware remaining that was not caught? or from a virus that is still there? I scanned with Spybot Search and Destroy, and Symantec Antivirus.

A:RegSvr32 - Error

I wouldn't have uninstalled viruses till after you uninstall symantech. (personal opinion)

Anyway. If your computer works properly its probably still serious. Can you post the virus check report to allow us to identify the virus removed ??

The most probable solution for this is a repair install of your operating system but don't do that yet. Post the virus log if you have it.

What i think has happened is a virus has attached/replicated or whatever to a system file. Which sucks because most of the system files are critical to the functionality and security of your pc.

lost/corrupted system files = possible exploitation.

Although this is an old post, this answer may prove useful to others who are still searching for a similar solution.

I also was after a tool for this purpose, but not all of them did everything, and some of them did practically nothing! However, a workaround:

There is a very nice program (freeware) called Emsa DLL Register Tool (available here http://www.e-systems.ro/). However, it doesn't add entries to the right-click context menu for .ax files. In fact, XP pro shows .ax files as 'unknown' indicating there is no file type set in the registry. So, the work around is pretty simple:

1. Install above software. Enable shell extensions in program.

2. Next, create two reg files (open in a notepad without wordwrap)

First: ax.reg
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.ax]
@="axfile"
Second: axfile.reg
Code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile]
"NoOpen"="These files are Directshow filters."
@="Directshow Filter"

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\axfile\shell]

Hello guys
I have problem with windows feature regsvr32 . I?m big hockey fan so I wanted to play NHL09 with new roster. To play with new roster you need online roster patch. In this Patch there are some files include browserengine.dll . When I executed nhl , the regsvr32 try to register browserengine.dll into registy and the problem is that nhl doesn?t start. When I look into Taskmanager there are still running regsvr32 and NHL09. When I stop regsvr32 proces NHL starts imediately. But as I expected the online rosters doesn?t work. So I tray to open cmd as admin and run browserengine.dll with regsvr32 with no other options. But no successful or fail message appear. I look into Taskmanager and runsvr32 still running without any message about succesfull operation. I tray to do this in safe mode but unsuccessfull.
Hints : OS Windows 8.1
cmd starts as admin
online roster patch work good with win 8,7 Vista or XP.

A:regsvr32 urlmon.dll

In relatively simple terms, regsvr32 registers dll files as command components in the registry

urlmon.dll is utilised by Internet Explorer, and contains functions used by Microsoft OLE (Object Linking and Embedding)

So what you are doing is re-registering this dll in the registry

In many respects, this particular Dynamic Link Library file is possibly one of the most important files in Windows, and a few faults can be repaired by re-registering it

I ran Malwarebytes and it found several DLL as malware and it deleted them. But the downside is, now REGSVR32 is complaining the DLL's are MISSING.
But at the first boot, I get 2 errors from REGSVR32 that it can not find "C:/User/xxx/AppData/Local/IQsoft/vvccipww.d.............. and that is all Windows listed in the window so I dont know the TOTAL name.
I see a DLL can be "unregistered" by using REGSVR32.EXE but since Windows 7 will not give me the entire name, and Malwarebytes has deleted the DLL, I dont how how.
Anyone know I can it get rid of these TWO error messages at every Boot?

A:About REGSVR32.exe errors and how to use it.

The files pointed in the dialogs are obviously the virus files that Malwarebytes deleted, but it's evident that something else is still there and your computer is still infected.

RegSvr32 doesn't popups out of nowhere, something is calling it and asking to register the now-missing libraries. If it happens at startup, look up at the startup location to find out where the virus is hidden. You may try another antivirus too.

The full file name doesn't matters at all. Something else is still trying to run the virus file, and the file being missing triggers that error.

Of course, since your computer has a confirmed infection and has been already breached, the only safe choice is a clean install.

Hi, yesterday, Norton Antivirus detected a piece of malware in my computer. It turns out that it was a .dll under the name of DfrgAgenCtrl.dll hiding under AppData/Local/Igsoft. I had to use Norton Power Eraser to remove it but upon restart, it gives me an error "The module "C:/Users/(my name)/AppData/Local/...DfrgAgenCtrl.dll " failed to load". It occurs everytime I turn on my computer. What do I do? Thanks in advance.

A:RegSvr32 Error

Hello, try this first. Its not unusual to receive such an error after using specialized fix tools.A "Cannot find...", "Could not run...", "Error loading... or "specific module could not be found" message is usually related to malware that was set to run at startup but has been deleted. Windows is trying to load this file but cannot locate it since the file was mostly likely removed during an anti-virus or anti-malware scan. However, an associated orphaned registry entry remains and is telling Windows to load the file when you boot up. Since the file no longer exists, Windows will display an error message. You need to remove this registry entry so Windows stops searching for the file when it loads. To resolve this, download Autoruns, search for the related entry and then delete it.Create a new folder on your hard drive called AutoRuns (C:\AutoRuns) and extract (unzip) the file there. (click here if you're not sure how to do this.)Open the folder and double-click on autoruns.exe to launch it.Please be patient as it scans and populates the entries. When done scanning, it will say Ready at the bottom.Scroll through the list and look for a startup entry related to the file(s) in the error message. -->>> DfrgAgenCtrl.dllRight-click on the entry and choose delete.Reboot your computer and see if the startup error returns.
