Hello everyone! In December I switched back to PC from Mac and purchased the Flex 4. Love the machine until a few months after purchase the screen started to flicker on and off without warning. Sometimes the screen just goes bright white or the color black on the screen is displayed as red. I downloaded the solution center and it keeps telling me everything is running as normal which is clearly not the case. A bit more about my machine: Windows 10Intel i7-750016GB RamAMD Radeon R5 M430 As far as I can tell, all my everything is up to date. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Hello, I have had this Flex3 since March (6 months)I have had a few problems arise that have been addressed here.The latest problem is my screen flickering.I was watching a live service and the screen started to get darker and the edges had a green look to them and the battery, wifi, click etc on bottom right were broken lines  ( if that makes sense )It took 4 times to restart. I just kept restarting, but the same things were open.It FINALLY did restart and the programs closed, but I still have this flickering screen.It no longer has the tint to it but still flickering. Just wondering what I should try to get this to stop.

I have a Flex 3 1480 that was purchased from Costco. with a 3 year warranty.I am having the same issues that alot of other people are having where the screen will go black out of nowhere.Yesterday alone it happened 12 times. (yes I wrote down everytime it happened) I have updated the bios and all other updates that were posted in a different post.The Flex is runnning the latest version of Windows 10 with all updates installed. I called tech support yesterday but got nowhere real fast. The lady did not speak very good english and what I did make out was her telling me to remove my ethernet card!! What can I do now? This laptop is useless now. Its only good for browising the net since I wont lose any work that way.I have lost to much work trying to use this laptop that I no longer trust it. Since Lenovo does not stand behind their products and come up with a fix I guess I will try to return it to costco. Hopfully a class action lawsuit arises as selling this junk is Fraud and I have been Scammed. I knew I should have stuck with Dell!

Hello,I have had this problem ever since I purchased the laptop.  The screen will go black/blank, but the backlight will still be on.  Can't do anything and have to turn off and restart.  It happens about once an hour or so.  Originally it happened less frequently/more when the power supply was not connected.  Now it happens regardless if the power supply is connected.  I also have text distortion on the screen at times.  I have tried to update display drivers/downgrade drivers, nothing has worked for me.  Really starting to get annoying.  Any suggestions?Thanks, Ginger4

I've had my machine for about a year and a half.  About a year ago, this started.  When the screen is in the position that I normally use it (of course) there seems to be a "dead spot".  The screen will flicker and/or go dark.  I can fix it by pushing or pulling slightly on the screen.  Thanks!!!

Many scanning software show, that there are 4 slots for memory. When i opened back cover of the laptop, could found no one RAM memory =) As i know motherboard can support up to ?? 32Gb DDR 4 too.2. There are some problems when i try to the sleep mode, it wakes up at the same time. The same problem with hibernation mofe. Can somebody advice something with these problems?

Need Some help to try understand what really went wrong. My Girl Friend was using the laptop good, This is just some months old. She left it on over night, the next day it had issues then when we finally got it to power on it would not start properly. It goes in to bios to ask to select the hard drive to start. All it does it come back to that same screen even if you try to boot from a USB drive it would come back to the screen to select boot option. Has any face such similar problem and wish to guide me to help rectify please. Or anyone with advice for such issue, will appreciate your tips.

I have been trying to determine the cause and correction for a Dell Precision M6700 laptop with an AMD FirePro M6000 video card.  If the system is turned off for a significant period of time (30 minutes or longer) the system boots and can see the LCD screen fine--articulate it back and forth, no problem.  About five minutes into use, it begins to flicker solid white before going and staying white.  Occasionally it will flicker normal, but then white again.
If I reboot, the screen stays white throughout the boot process.  If I connect an external monitor and toggle between the video output, I can see the screen on the external monitor.  I can do this even while booting and the screen is white, and see the boot process on the external monitor.
I have replaced the internal video cable (one site recommended) as well as the LCD panel (also recommended).  Short of replacing the video card or motherboard, what else can be done?  Given I can see the video on an external monitor, I am convinced changing the video card will correct the problem.  Given this works fine and at, I am wondering if heat related.  I made sure the fans were clear and heat sinks were both firmly tightened.

My Asus x54l screen turns white and flickers I don't use it anymore because of this. THE STORY: one day I cracked it in a couple months later it started turning white and screens now it usually is just white I thought I just might need to buy a new screen but I'm not sure What do you think?

My brand new Flex 4 1480 won't start. After plugging in the AC power, the battery status indicator light next to the power jack turns on and stays solid white. But when I press the power button, the keyboard backlight turns on then off again and the power status indicator light next to the power button blinks for 5 seconds before turning off. The screen stays dark the whole time. I have tried plugging in the AC power and leaving it overnight but the story is the same when I try to turn the laptop on the next morning.

I have a Flex 3-1480 Laptop running windows 10.  When I click on the Xbox app, I get this message "We are unable to sigh you in at this moment.  Try again later."  When I try to use Microsoft solitaire collection and it tries to connect to Xbox, I get "Sign in error" with the error code 1170000.  I can play as a guest.  I have tried following all the recommendations to fix this error code without success.  I have an Acer laptop running window 10 and have no problem getting to the solitaire collection either through the Xbox App or through the start menu.  The firewall settings on both laptops are the default settings.  Any advice? Thanks!

My laptop will not charge. Well, the charging indicator flickers, and when I try to charge it and get it working, the percentage will stay at the percentage it was when it started charging.  I had it plugged in two nights ago, while using it, and I heard a pop and saw the charger move in the outlet. That's when the problem occurred. I can't even use it, which is a problem because I'm in a high school where one to one is a thing. My warranty is expired, so please help! Tried several attempts to re-install driver, regedit, delete drive, auto discover driver  - all attempts fail. Hi,My Flex 4 1480 completely shuts off exactly after 5 minutes when running on battery. Works fine when plugged in.It shuts down even when running in the BIOS screen, which may point that it is a firmware issue.I have BIOS 2SCN23WW version installed. LENOVO Flex 3 - 1480 I recently uninstalled Lenovo Accelerator Application and now my device is slower and less efficient than usual.  Major Problems If my notebook's screen is not being used for more than two minutes, then my notebook glitches out (meaning that I cannot operate it) and takes another two minutes to un-glitch out (meaning that I can operate my notebook again). For example - leaving my mouse cursor on the desktop for two minutes  (malfunction example), watching a video or movie (non-malfunction example). A few other low end apps and games not downloaded from Windows Store either does not operate at all or is EXTREMELY slow. For example -  Broforce (a low end game that is now extremely slow), Adobe Flash Player (an application that does not work at all now).These problems weren't there before but now they are really bugging me. What I tried  I downloaded Adanced System Care Pro (the paid version) and OneKey Optimiser (by LENOVO).These aplications only heped me a little but the major problems are still there My Request Please give me a replacement application in place of LENOVO Accelerator  Application. Any other solution are also welcome A VERY BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAVE, ARE AND WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THIS DISCUSSION

Is this a "feature" of the ELAN touch pad?  Is there any way to get rid of it?  The beeping is really annoying.

Same problem.  Started when I had my bluetooth playing music from the laptop and I was doing other work.  So I shut the bluetooth off and now it does it from the computer speakers?  Very annoying beeping sound.   It seemed to go away when I unplugged it?  Did you have yours plugged in?  Did you find a fix for this?

Hi, I recently purchased a refurb Lenovo Flex 3 1480 model and I am starting to see problems with the display that others have noted on here.  It sometimes flickers on and off and occassionally completely turns off and will not come back on without a restart.   So in troubleshooting this issue I have upgraded my BIOS to version DCN32WW from DCN28WW.  This was more difficult than it sounds because for some reason the PC identified the older DCN28WW as the newer firmware.  I had to override the setting in the BIOS to allow it to install the "older"firmware DCN32WW.  Made no sense. The latest thing I am trying to do is update the Intel VGA 520 display driver to the latest version published on 7/16/16 ver. 20.19.15.4454.  I downloaded the installer from the Flex 3 1480 section of the suppport site. When I try to install it, however, it tells me it is not compatible with my device.  I have tried uninstalling the driver and then installing the newest one and it still won't install.  The driver currently on my machine is 20.19.15.4364.  Can someone explain why I cannot get the newest display driver to install on my laptop?

Greetings all, I am having issues with my SD Card Reader. I have a Lenovo Flex 3-1480, running Win 10 x64. Recently, I downloaded and installed the Lenovo Companion, and have used it to install drivers. It installed a Card Reader Driver - 10 [64]  V.4.5.0.6. Now, when I try to use my SD reader, I get an Unknown Device pop up in my Device Manager. When I try to update this device, it automatically locates a Genesys Logic USB3.0 Card Reader which promptly indicates is not intended for this platform [Code 28]. I am unable to install the driver at all. I can no longer use my SD reader, for anything, it just isn't registered with the system now. Please help or advise, I need that reader to work, I store just about everything on those cards. I have tried running the Companion, and it does not locate any more drivers, and also indicates that the system is running good, no errors. I have also tried using Intel Driver Update Utility, and still get nowhere. Has anyone else experienced this?

I purchased a Lenovo Flex 4 1480 about a month ago and just recently made the transition from my old laptop. I love this laptop but I am encountering some speed issues with it. Some apps are taking a while to load, but what is the most frustrating is using the web. Web pages on all browsers are taking somewhere between 8-10 seconds to load, and with this machine running a Core i7 7500U processor with 8 GBs of ram, I know this is not right (my old laptop loads pages much faster than this!!!).  I was wondering if this is just some driver problem or I should bring it back to where I bought it since it is still under warranty. Any input would be great!

I just purchased the Lenovo Flex 3-1480 yesterday.  So far so good in my initial observation of this 2 in 1 laptop. Except for the wifi. We have the AT&T gigapower speed with the Pace router with 2.4 & 5 ghz wifi dual modes.  I checked with AT&T and they advised that different devices can have different speeds if the hardware or drivers are old or not up-to-date.  AT&T has stated that everyone won't get 1ghz speeds (disclaimer says up to 1ghz).  So, I have another Lenovo 540w laptop that I use for work and it is getting 330 mbps download speeds for the 5ghz wireless and 500+ mbps download when connected with the ethernet cable to the router.I connected the Flex 3 directly to the router with the ethernet cable and tested at speedtest.net and received 320 mbps download speed.I went to speedtest.net and ran a test on the wireless and the best I could get is 30 mpbs download speed.  I noticed that the flex 3 would only connect to 2.4ghz.  When I tried to connect with 5ghz, I received and error that it would not connect.  So I searched on the Lenovo website for updated wifi drivers and found newer drivers.  My current driver was for Intel AC-3165 dual band wireless adapter version 18.12.1.2 date 7/29/2015.  I dowloaded and installed version 19.10.0.9 date 9/28/2016, rebooted and saw some improvement. I purchased a Flex 3 through the Lenovo site for a black friday special and have been having severe problems with it ever since. I'm really at my wits end with what to do with this machine. Sporatically, my physical keyboard and trackpad will stop working and the issue can't be reset until I let the unit battery drain and die. This is no way to use a laptop. I can not figure out a triggering issue for it, it happens randomly.  I have called the tech support hotline 3 times and tried chat twice and no one has been able to help me resolve this issue. The tech support personnel have been extremely unhelpful and have talked over me when I attempt to explain what is going on, and refused to transfer me to another associate or escalate my issue to a supervisor. I feel like I was sold a defective unit.  What can I do?

I have a refurbished Latitiude E5540 that recently went out of warranty. While using it last night, my screen began flickering, the colors changed, the text looked blurry and multi-colored (almost like double vision) and the screen faded to a greyish white and became blank. I turned it off,tried to log back in but the screen was still a greyish white.  This was the first timme anything like this has happened.
To get it working normally again I  had to unplug the power source,remove the battery and press the on/off button to discharge the laptop. When i installed the battery and plugged in the power source I was able to log in normally and use it without incident for a while but the same issue happened again and I have to go through the same process to get it working again.  
Since last night, every time I use it the same problem happens.
Can anybody help or provide me with assistance with this issue

Have you tried on an external monitor. Do the symptoms show up on the external display?
If you swing the screen back and forth does it makes any difference ??
Please run the LCD test by shutting down the system,now hold the letter D and then power on the system, after 5 seconds let go the letter D and if the screen is working fine then it should flash solid bright colours. Let us know how it goes.

I received a brand new Flex 3-1480 for Christmas and have had several technical issues with it. First, the touch screen only works about half of the time when I turn it on. When I restart the machine, it sometimes fixes the issue, but that's not my main concern. The biggest issue is that it will not wake up from sleep mode. This problem began back in February (6 months ago) and has not been resolved. I called Lenovo support on 6 or 7 different occasions, each answered by a different technician who assigned me new case numbers. They all tried various things (BIOS, hardware, screen brightness, drivers, etc.). These solutions all worked for a few days, maybe a week on occasion before the computer when back to not working properly.  The computer was sent to the repair depot back in April to be fixed. When I got it back, it worked properly for 2 days before reverting to the previous sleep issue. At that point, I called support again, tried more fixes (none of which worked). I got fed up and tired of those solutions at the end of May, when I called and told them I wanted this escalated. I was assigned Crystal as a case manager. She has been absolutely abysmal and non-responsive, but looking at this forum and online I see that she is always like this - I am surprised she still is employed and just goes to show how terrible of a company this really is. I have a Lenovo Flex 3 1480 with Intel I7.  I was getting a message that says "plugged in charging" but the battery charge was staying at 60% and not increasing. Lenovo techs said the battery must be bad so I ordered and installed a new, Lenovo brand battery.  I get the same condition... placing the cursor over the battery symbol gives a status message of "40% available, plugged in, charging" but the battery charge never increases, even after shutting off the computer down and leaving it plugged in overnight. The laptop was a year old and therefore out of warranty last November, 2016. HELP!

My Flex 14 1480 is a week and a half old when the system update application prompted me to update my BIOS. As i recall it wanted to update my bios from 1.04 to 2.0 I clicked yes, and the bios update ran and initiated a restart of the computer. Unfortuatnply now my computer does not start up and i am greeted to LEDS being on but a black screen without a lenovo logo.  I then tried to go on the Lenovo website and for the bios version that i just installed, there is no 2.0 version listed, specifically 2SCN20WW. I've had a search on the forum for the same issue but there doesn't seem to be any issue exactly matching this, so posting.
 
I bought an IdeaPad Flex 14 about 9 months ago. It was fine up til about 6 months ago.
Then it started to boot to a white screen everytime it's switched on. It doesn't matter if that is from Shutdown, hibernate or sleep.
As soon as the power button is pressed, there is a white screen, there is no booting information or Lenovo logo first, just straight to a white screen.
 
If connected to an external display (TV or monitor) then the 2nd display will show what you would expect: boot information, Lenovo logo, windows login. When you get to the desktop, everything as expected and all apps working.
 
You can also change the display settings to duplicate and the laptop display will change from white to windows desktop and the external display remains on desktop (so duplicate working fine).
If you change to extend, also working as expected.
Unplug the HDMI cable and back to white screen on the laptop.
 
I've noticed when you go into display options that the laptop seems to think that the laptop display is the 2nd display. I.e. if you click identify, the external display flashes a "1" and the laptop flashes a "2".

Not likely a general firmware flaw as I've not seen this discussed before. Unless reflashing the bios helps (so you have a corrupted bios) or resetting the firmware to factory default settings then I fear a hardware fault. Sounds like something to do with the screen rotation mechanism as connecting a second monitor as the primary will force landscape rotation (simply disabling rotation may have an effect, may not). Thing is, this is happening before even the bios is fully engaged so it feels like a problem with the hardware mechanism/detector. Do try imaging the drive then restoring to factory install. Just in case it is the UEFI boot mechanism getting messed up. This is just my thinking. I may, of course, be very wrong. This is where I would start to work it out from though.

I have a Flex 4 1480 Signature Edition ideapad 80VD0007US and I'm trying to update the BIOS via the System Update utility.  When I choose to install the suggested update for the BIOS I get a message stating that this BIOS is only for "510S14IKB 310S15IKB YOGA 510-14IKB YOGA 510-15IKB" - none of which is my machine I'm pretty sure.  What can one do to find the correct BIOS and update it if the System Update utility doesn't give you the correct one?
 
The Lenovo Settings utility says that my BIOS is currently: 2SCN23WWV2.03

Sorry to hear of the difficulties you are experiencing.  The warning message you are receiving during the update is partially correct.  Your model should have been included in that warning since that BIOS update covers all the models listed.   Here is a full description from the BIOS update's README file....

I have a LeNovo Flex 3 1480 [80R3] for about a year with zero problems. The only modded thing is a Sandisk 480gb SSD drive, with a Windows 10 installation from scratch, installed in the very first day I bought this machine. I was running Windows 10 version 1607 normally, and really enjoying this machine, but since last week when I was booting up, the machine freezed at bootscreen (the one with the lenovo logo) and then restarted showing the message "Preparing Automatic Repair" that took almost a whole day to pass. The repair never happened and I had to use the option to reset windows maintaining my personal files. After this everytime I boot up, windows 10 take up to 10 minutes to boot, and my keyboard and touchpad won't work, leaving me with only the touchscreen option. I've been through a lot of different solutions attempts:- Upgraded BIOS to the latest version (Lenovo colored logo at bootscreen)- Uninstalled KB and Touchpad drivers manually and reinstalled with Lenovo provided drivers, and also repeated the procedure with Windows Update drivers.- Disabled the fast startup option- Done the 15s procedure with the power button- Deattached the battery plug for some minutes and reattached- Checked (unplug and replug) both KB and Touchpad flatwires- Reinstalled the latest Windows 10 version 1703 from scratch None of the solution mentioned above worked for me. KB works perfectly in BIOS, and even when booting up I can change de backlight settings usi... Adding some info after some new research.Will try other 2 slightly different options:1) 15s power button trick with battery and charger unplugged2) Installation of LeNovo provided Intel ME drivers, read some info that it might interfere at the keyboard and mice functionality. Actually I'm running Windows chipset provided drivers.But still in doubt, which available driver should I install? There are 2 available.1) Intel ME Driver 63.6 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.0.0.1176 - Release 30/8/20162) Intel Management Engine Interface Driver 81.5 MB Windows 10 (64-bit) 11.6.0.1015 - Release 29/11/20163) Both drivers, in release date/version ascending order.

I have a Flex 3 that is only 4 months old and notice that even when the laptop is totally off (powered down, no lights on, not hibernate or sleep) after a day or two the batter charge upon bootup has gone down significantly. I am talking a reduction of say 40%. I am under warranty and I have to run this "Battery gauge reset" routine and do a few other checks before they replace the battery.  Although I can't imagine how looking at windows power options can impact what the battery draw is while the unit is OFF and windows is not running....but guess they have to go through their script. Anyway my question is on this Battery Gauge reset.  I have read things where this takes all night or something and people have to turn sleep mode off on their laptop? That is not in the official instructions so for those that have had this issue or run the reset do you just "press the button" or do I need to make sure the laptop stays awake.Also, what is it actually doing?? Is this type of battery drain a known issue?  To me it sure seems like just a bad battery....Thanks,BJBBJB

 So I was in this website (dashboard.zopim.com) for working purposes and whenever I get a chat request there's a sound and somehow my computer stopped with the sounds. I restarted the computer and there was a mute symbol in the audio, and I got really surprised when I tried to unmute it and got a message like "there is no audio installed" . I went to the system settings and saw that 2 icons - Intel High Definition DSP and Intel High definition display audio had a yellow mark. I went to Lenovo's website and downloaded the driver and it didn't work. Then I found some instructions on microsoft's website. It worked but then I had to use the site again and... Not working! I made it work again but now there's a delay. Sometimes there's no delay on the sound and sometimes there's about 5 sec. Please, help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I have flickers of the screen [turns white then back to normal in a sec] BUT that's only sometimes when it freezes or something.
& Another thing is the cursor flickers with a drop shadow of a ugly color to it. [Not sure how to explain that] BUT i need help to know why this does this.

& How do I know if my computer is good to run a game on it.

Please provide more information about your system. We'll need, at a minimum, the exact make and model in order to start even trying to figure out if it's capable of which games. Also, please include the version of Vista that you have (Basic, Home Premium, Business, Enterprise, or Ultimate).
