How to turn off zoom feature on touchpad

Q: How to turn off zoom feature on touchpad

I bought a E520. I am not liking the touchpad on this thing. It hangs up and does not respond a lot of times. The biggest thing that irks me is that my screen will zoom in and out when I run my finger along the touchpad or when tapping it. I know you can use the "pinch" with two fingers to zoom in and out but mine will zoom with just a tap of one finger. Someone must know how to disable the zoom feature. Can you describe in detail to me how to do that? I called Lenovo support about it and the guy said it might be a software or hardware problem and told me to take it into a repair facility. There must be a way in settings to turn that off. I just want the touchpad to work normally, as in move the cursor around.. thats it, nothing more. Can someone help me with this??

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

In Control Panel go to Mouse -> UltraNav -> TouchPad Settings -> Application Gestures -> Pinch Zoom -> uncheck the Enable Pinch Zoom box. Enjoy! I did not like it either! You can fine tune all the touchpad features to your liking right there.

Open up Mouse in the Control Panel.
There should be a way to get to Touch Pad Properties.
From there you want to select Application Gestures.
Then, Pinch Zoom.
Finally, make sure the box next to "Enable Pinch Zoom" is not selected.

On windows 7 laptop we have  has zoom feature on bottom of page, print size never changes. On this desktop window 7 zoom is on tool bar print size changes every time you go to another page.Anyway to keep it all the same, this desktop is new, mabee something has to be set. Thanks, Paul

First of all - Welcome to BC !
Can you give some details of these computers - make, model and so on - it gives us something to go on.
When you say 'the bottom of the page', do you mean the task bar on the desktop, or at the bottom inside one application or another?  I am not familiar with a zoom control on the task bar but a lot of applications, from image viewers through graphics software to MS Office, have a zoom function. But this almost always uniformly expands or shrinks the complete page, text and everything included. And, more to the point, the zoom control goes wherever the designer of the software decided to put it.

Why will my new higher zoom setting not remain as such, until I wish to reset.

Sometimes when I return to previous viewed web pages, the higher setting will have remained.

If I set at 125% I want it to stay there!!

Is there any movie players that let you zoom while its in full screen, i know many dvd players have a ZOOM feature, and i was wondering if any movie players on pc's do, because i hate letterbox/black bars!

let me know!

A:zoom feature in movie player??

because i hate letterbox/black bars!

I believe you're talking about aspect ratio, not zoom. Most players have a place to set the aspect ratio, and some codecs have aspect ratio settings. On standard TV's and monitors, generally you use a 4:3 aspect ratio, on widescreens generally you use 16:9.
There are also different stretch settings offered by different software packages. Cyberlink PowerDVD offers CLPV stretching while other software packages have different pixel stretching or doubling techniques, these stretching techniques can have a large impact on the video viewing quality.

I've been using XP Pro for a few years now. However, on my last re-install I left off ACDSee and was just going to use XP's own settings for viewing photos. I'm now using SP2.

I was certain that in the 'filmstrip' setting for photos there was a 'Zoom IN/OUT' option - am I wrong? I only have 4 buttons for:-

Previous Image
Next Image
Rotate Clockwise
Rotate Counter Clockwise

I'm using TweakUI + TweakXP Pro 4, I've checked everywhere but I can't find anywhere that the zoom option has been unchecked? Is it there or can I enable it somehow?

A:Zoom feature in 'Filmstrip' of My Pictures?

I found this site:-

It states here that:-

Another new WindowsXP applet is the Picture & Fax Viewer. To view files as you would in a slide show, just right-click on any graphics file and select "Preview". The Viewer applet will open and the controls at the bottom allow you to navigate, zoom, copy, etc. This is a very quick and useful feature that is always available in Windows Explorer.

Sure enough, all the icons that I'm sure were always there appear in this window *but* I would like them there ALL the time when viewing in filmstrip mode - is it something simple I'm overlooking here?

I have an HP dv3 laptop with a synaptics touchpad. Swiping the left edge of the touch pad causes programs which have a zoom capability to zoom in and out. There is no documentation from HP or Synaptics or Microsoft that I have been able to find which even acknowledges that this feature even exists. I would like to turn the feature off because I keep activating it by accident, but I cannot find a setting anywhere. Perhaps there is a registry setting I can change?

A:Want to disable left edge zoom feature

Some additional information: the pointer becomes the crossed lines with arrows that I associate with Move during the swipe and then after the release the shrinking circle occurs as if I had pressed the CTRL key to locate the cursor. The advertised way of doing a zoom with the keypad is to hold the CTRL key and swipe the right edge.

I installed all drivers for the touchpad. No seeing any UltraNav software. And i don't find any settings to reduce the pinch zoom sensitivity (except enable/disable it).For now the sensitivity are too high, barely to make zooming on browser back to 100% (micrometer precision required) or google maps is zooming too fast. I know i can reset the zoom via keyboard but the annoying part is when I have 2 fingers on the touchpad to prepare the scrolling and it triggers the zooming.Device: X1 Extreme (20MF000XGE)So the question is: does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity just for the pinch zoom?

Is there a way to reduce the sensitivity of the touchpad and/or disable the zoom feature of the touchpad without disabling the touchpad entirely? Over the years, with my other laptop, I grew used to using my right hand to move the pointer while using my left hand to click my selection, so I often have both hands resting on the touchpad. It's second nature, and a hard habit to break. This is a problem on my Lenovo Edge 15 touchpad, because having my left hand anywhere near the touchpad while moving the pointer around with my right hand, I keep inadvertently activating the zoom in/out feature. I do rely on the touchpad quite a bit, so I don't want to turn it off, but the constant zooming issue is really affecting my productivity. Every minute or two, I'm having to stop and Ctrl+0 to get the screen back to normal magnification. I don't see a simple way to fix this in my mouse/touchpad settings. Thanks.

A:Touchpad Pinch Zoom Problem on Lenovo Edge 15

I hope you've figured this out by now and aren't still having this problem. I figured I'd post anyway in case other people are searching for an answer and having trouble finding it. The zoom was driving me insane also and I finally found an answer on another forum. I have a Lenovo G50, but it's likely the problems would be resolved similarly.  Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > Mouse (or just search for "Mouse" in your Cortana search bar). Open Mouse Properties and navigate to the far right tab where your touchpad driver is listed, I'm assuming many of us Lenovo users have the same driver but mine is "Elan". Under where the device is listed there are buttons: Enable Device, Stop Device, Options. Or yours may say "Advanced Settings" instead of Options. Open Opions/Settings.  Find the Multi-Finger tab and location the Zooming option. Check the Disable button (or slow zoom rate if you prefer). Click Apply ...and it's fixed! I'm so much happier now that my screen isn't constantly zooming in and out. My left hand constantly bumps the touchpad and the zooming was NOT working for me.

So I need to a image viewer/editor with "Scroll to Zoom" feature. Basically when I scroll, the image should be zoomed instead of moving to the next picture.

Hello, I have recently bought a brand new HP laptop running windows 10 and wish to use it for gaming, school, and programming. I have always hated Synaptic touchpad's PalmCheck and SmartSense (and everything like that) which prevents the mouse from being used after a key is pressed. I have searched far and wide and have yet to find one single solution which has worked. I'm very good with computers, and I have exhausted all resources I have found online. ABove is a screenshot showing that I have totally disabled all forms of SmartSense, yet I still am experiencing an inability to use the mouse after a key is pressed. I have gone through the control panel, checked my driver, and looked at about a million other things. I just got this computer and I really hat that I may not be able to have fun with it or use it to its fullest. This thing cost a lot and I really want it to work well, so please help me in any way possible!

A:Touchpad SmartSense feature won't go away

Hi, As you state, normally, you just need to turn off SmartSense or PalmCheck the Synaptics control panel - however from what I've seen, this no longer seems to work for Windows 10 versions of this driver. You may be able to get around this as follows. First, download the Synaptics driver on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder. Synaptics Driver Version Turn off your wireless card ( should be f12 ). Open windows control panel, open Programs and Features, right click the current Synaptics driver and select Uninstall. When complete, restart the notebook. When windows has reloaded, open your Downloads folder and run the Synaptics installer - when this has completed, restart the notebook again. Open the Synaptics settings panel, disable SmartSense or PalmCheck and then check if the touchpad will now work with a keyboard key held down.  If it does, turn your wireless card back on and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 from automatically updating the Synaptics driver. https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3073930 Regards, DP-K

Hey, I recently got a Toshiba P30 Notebook, Installed Norton Internet Security 2005 on it and kept getting an error message saying that it can't be reinstalled during startup, so as an attempt to fix that I looked through the startup options in the registry, and while i was at it got rid of a few other startup options that I thought I wouldn't need,
but some adverse affects occurred, the touch pad's touch and launch feature (hold down a corner of the touch pad and you get shortcuts to stuff) doesn't work on it, and I can no longer scroll with the side and bottom of my touch pad and being stupid, i didn't backup the keys I deleted.. so I don't know what I need to restore.. I tried re-enabling everything in msconfig, using system restore, and using "last known good configuration" at windows startup.. i called Toshiba tech support and they told me to use system restore.. I also tried reinstalling a bunch of mouse related drivers, but to no avail.. according to the touch and launch program, touch and launch is enabled, and I can't find the settings for scrolling with the touch pad..

the touch pad does work..

someone please help me! this is getting quite annoying..

I'm not actually as concerned about dragging as i am about selecting - i need to select large areas of the screen.
on my Latitude E6410, i can double tap to begin drawing a box to select an area.., and when my finger gets to the edge of the track pad, I can lift my finger, move it to the center of the trackpad, and continue selecting the area. Another tap then ends the area selection.
I would like to have this behavior on my new 7470
Is there a problem with TrackLock.., or am I doing something wrong?

I never thought I would post a message like this to a technical forum!  I am slowly switching to Yogas and bought our second one. I like the product. However....there is a LARGE square sticker in the corner of the unit where you place your hands touting it's features. I am not talking about a little intel sticker which I know is meant to stay on. This is advertising INSIDE the unit so I am not sure of the purpose. However when I try to peel it off, after just taking a corner off I see sticky residue being left on the unit.  I know from past experience if you rub this off, it mars the plastic.  If you use goo-gone, it can eat into the plastic depending on the type. So I am asking Lenovo or any users, how to safely remove this sticker?  I can't believe this is meant to be like the Intel sticker which is semi-permanent.  Any thoughts appreciated. BJBBJB

Please provide advice on how to turn this feature off.
I've already checked Internet Options> General> Languages, and made sure that English (United States) is at the top of the list.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! They’re some web sites I need to visit but I keep getting redirected to the Italian (.it) page....frustrating.

Thanks in Advance

I just did a clean install of 64-bit Win 10 Preview Build 14951 from an install.esd converted to an iso image. I go to Turn Windows features on or off and check the box marked Windows Subsystem for Linux (Beta). When my system reboots, an error message flashes by so fast, I can't read it and Bash isn't installed. I have Developer mode turned on and am an administrator on this computer. FSC /scannow and DISM show no errors at all. I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows.
What else can I do?

I have MS Visual studio 6 installed on my PC, and whenever an IE page has an error on it (like undetermined string constant for example), an error message will popup saying to click yes to debug or cancel. If you click yes (which I constantly do accidentally), it will close the IE windows and open up the debugger, which is then a hassle to exit out of.

This is very annoying and slows down browsing the web, so is there a way to turn off the debugger so it does not check for errors or anything when using IE, and so no error messages pop up?

Yup, in IE, Tools>Internet Options>Advanced>Disable script debugging, make sure it's checked....had the same problem when I installed VS6.

Hi all
I pressed something by accident on the mouse -- now I've got this really annoying large square box with magnified text inside it instead of a regular mouse cursor

How do I switch this off and also PERMANENTLY disable this really ANNOYING feature.

I've no idea what I pressed when moving the mouse but it really is irritating.
