Finding IP Address via Frontpage

Q: Finding IP Address via Frontpage

We built and maintain our website via Microsoft frontpage 5.0
We would like to find out the ip address of the people that visit our website. We have found programs to do this but none of them have been compatible with frontpage 5.0 only ftp transfer.
Does anyone know how to or a program we can use to find out the ip address of the people that visit our website that will work with frontpage 5.0?

thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

How do I find out my IP address?

A:Finding IP address

Do this, Start>Run, key in winipcfg and press enter. Depending on your setup you may need to run that command after your connected to the net to get your IP address. It also may change from session to session if your set to acquire an IP address from the server at connection time.

I have an IP addressable web cam that I haven't used for a while. Now I want to use it again, but cannot remember the IP address...I want to go in and make some changes. I also changed the router (the new router IP is different from the orignal). Is there some easy way to find the IP while inside my home network? I wonder if I can plug it into the new router and do some ping of some sort.
Thanks in advance!

I've heard that someone can find out your ip address if they monitor a website they know you go to often.

Example...... Let's say i have a website online that they are aware of, and i visit it daily. I've heard they can set something up whereby they can record all the ip addresses that visit this site.

Is this true? Is this a man-in-the-middle attack?

thanks,
d

A:finding ip address

Yes, Apache web server has logs which show what ip addresses are connecting to it. If the attacker can view the logs then they would know which ip's visited the site. I think IIS web server has similar logs. But they wouldn't know which ip is yours though, if they don't know what time you visited.

No, this is not called man-in-the-middle, m-i-t-m is when attackers places himself between your ip and the destination ip and relays traffic both ways, to and from. And you won't notice that some one is eaves dropping.

Is there a way to get someones name and address ( no critical info such as ssn ) from their email address? I've "Googled" a few things with no success. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Keith

A:Finding Address From Email

if you are looking for some program, then i guess it wouldn't be legal. but if the email address is kind of "oficial" one then, if you google right way you may find some of personal info. i mean most of universities or enterprises give their students/employees email address which end like [email protected] or [email protected] in this case you can find a person by googling for university/enterprise.

good luck

A:Finding the MAC address in BeOS

There's GetMACAddress, or you can enable debugging during boot (hit space when booting and select it) and check from /var/log/syslog, or use ifconfig if your system has that command. Maybe netstat displays it, too?

Please excuse me if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't too sure where to post, here or the Network board.

In short, how can a website user acquire an IP address without having access to the database that logs it or admin access to view it? There is also no email that can be researched into. The user is that is tracing the IP addresses is blatantly an average computer user. If you want the full gist read on.

***
A particular group of users are using an account to troll around and make jokes (not to the annoyance of anyone worry not) but of course everyone else is trying to figure it out who the regular user is, I am well aware of who is responsible. Someone who fancies himself as a whizkid somehow managed to get hold of the IP address of this mock account. He traced the address posted where it led to (with a look-up/who-is etc), then did another but got somewhere else and yet again did another to get another place (different people using the account) then he claims each time the trace was pending. We do know the addresses are correct because of where they were ending up.
***

The mock account has no email address that be looked into or anything of that sort and only the site owner has access to user IP addresses, so basically in short we're wondering how he is acquiring the address to trace.

Please excuse me if you think this is childish, it's just a bit of fun in a close knit community trying to better each other daily with friendly banter.

A:Finding out an IP address / tracing

Hi and welcome. The owner of the website needs to get you this info

He should just ban the IP address that the problem user is using.

Hi, How Can I find out a IP address from a email someone sent me??

I know if you send someone a Picture from a Joke Website, your IP address is on the bottom of the email..

Thank you very much!

A:Finding IP Address From Email

I'm not too sure, to be honest.

I know that a lot of people do not have a static IP address, meaning every time they connect to the Internet, they are dynamically allocated one. That means their IP address is different everytime.

The joke website probably includes the IP address of the user at the time they were logged on to the site - just like this forum does. It is fairly easy to do with javascript.

Assuming a person owns and operates their own domain - you could visit something like http://www.network.tools.com and do a lookup on the domain part of their email address (i.e. the info after the @). But chances are that would not be them.

Above and beyond that - I don't have a clue - I hope someone can let us know as its an interesting question.

Regards

Gareth

now im not sure where to really begin, i assume i wont be able to really help her in the end (because even if i check it it will probably be fake info) ,

i figured id ask anyways to see if there was a way to check on that its a @yahoo.com account

A:Help finding who owns a email address

Finding out who it is would probably take an act of Congress, but if a Yahoo! account is being used for harassment, you can report it to them from this form.

Report each email, and if they get enough, or they are bad enough, they may close the account. Won't stop the person from opening a new one, but if it's bad enough, Yahoo! might block the creation of an account from the user's IP address; which unfortunately isn't that hard a block to get around though.

Harassing/threatening emails should also be reported to your own ISP, as well as the Local Police. Don't delete them, the headers can be used to help track down the culprit. This is the only way anything might get done about it.

Search for Cyberstalking or Harassing/threatening emails and you'll find lots of info, here's just one link.

Hi, All,

A friend of mine is getting some harrassing email out of the blue from an unknown person that seems, however, to know my friend (or at least has access to information about my friend).

While my friend is so far ignoring the emails, and while I know they could simply block the emails, I'm worried that blocking or even continuing to ignore the emails could cause this harrassement to escalate.

So, I'm trying to find if there is a way to determine who is the physical person behind the email. The email company this unknown person is using is from here:

I work for a large organization and we have recently switched from cc:mail to Internet-based Outlook Express 5.50. One problem we have on many (not all) systems is getting outlook express to automatically fill in addresses. Although my machine does not have this problem, many of the machines I support do.
We created an address book (.csv) that we had the clients import. This contained first, last, and email address. We have had no problems importing it, and when a name is typed in, the lookup function works filling in the correct name. However, when the client trys to send, a message appears saying there is no match and a Check Names window opens with no entries listed. When I choose Show More Names, the list appears with the name highlighted. Here the name can be added to the to: field and the message is sent fine. I have reinstalled on one of the problem machines, reimported the address and the problem still occurs.
Many of these machines have a minimum of apps loaded and they are locked down showing only a Novell-delivered Apps desktop.
Any help on solving this problem will be greatly appreciated by many people.

Thank You
Lisa Merchant

A:Outlook express 5.5 not automatically finding address

It sounds like the problem may be coming from the import process. Is everyone else mapping the imported fields correctly? I tried several ways of importing to see if I could duplicate the problem, but I couldn't.
Are you using only one identity on each machine? You also mentioned that when you click show more names, the contact is selected. Which identity is selected in that window?

This seems like such a simple question that I am almost embarrassed to ask it. I use MS Outlook on my home PC and also on my laptop (I also use XP on both). I want to copy the address book / contacts from the home PC to use on my laptop. But I can't seem to find the database to copy. Having Googled the question, I searched for *.pab files, and *.wab files (which I understand is the extension for the address book) but didn't find any. Another suggestion was that it could be within contacts in the .pst file. That I found! But when I tried to copy it I received a message that some program had 'locked' a portion of the file and it couldn't be copied! Surely it can't be that hard! Can someone please help with this 'minor' incovenience? Thanks in advance.

I have been using Frontpage 2000 and could utilize the right-click menu to copy and paste-special, to paste text from Word files. I have since upgraded to Frontpage 2003, and now my right-click menu no longer gives me the paste-special options, just paste. Is there a way to add it to the right-click menu, or is it simply no longer available?

A:Changes to right-click menu from Frontpage 2000 to Frontpage 2003

In previous FrontPage versions, when you cut and paste text and other items from Word (and elsewhere) into FrontPage while in Code view, FrontPage would attempt to apply the style of the incoming object, which often resulted in a mess of HTML and style tags. Now, you just get plain text when you paste into Code view, which makes it far easier for you and really how it should be. So you don't really need Paste Special like you used to.

I have PeoplePC as my dial-up ISP and as of late there have been problems that have been happening more and more frequently that have made my surfing experience very unfriendly.

Half the time I go to send an email using my Outlook Express there will be a delay of anywhere from 15 to 30 or more seconds while it says something about CONNECTING or FINDING host. Eventually... It will send the email.

Same thing when surfing. Sometimes I will click on a link and NOTHING will happen. No hourglass... absolutely nothing and then finally, the page will start to load in.

Now... It's not a case where the page is slow to load after it is found. It seems like my PC has all this damn searching to do to find the damn site. I am very frustrated over this.

Some would suggest that this is part of the reality of having a dial-up connection but I have had dial-up for over 7 years and have had nothing like this occur nor as often.

Does this sound like it's an ISP issue? Or my PC? especially the email issue where it waits for sometimes up to 45 seconds while it looks for the host.

Just wondering if changing my ISP will fix this?

Thanks in advance

DAVID

A:Finding Server... Finding host (enough already)!

Most likely changing your ISP will be the best solution. Is Broadband available in your area??

I'm setting up a basic website, using FrontPage 2000. When I preview my site in Microsoft Internet Explorer, it looks great, but when I preview it in Netscape, it looks like a mess. My home page has a Photo on the right, and a Paragraph of justified text on the left. In Netscape, the text area comes out much smaller, and the text is not justified properly, and doesn't line up properly with the picture. I also have a banner with a border, running across the top of the page. This is fine in internet explorer, but in Netscape the border doesn't show up, only the text does. I have similar problems on all the other pages of my site. Things don't look the same in Inernet Explorer and Netscape. Is this just a limitation of Frontpage, that I have to work around, or am I doing something wrong? Any suggestions?

Greetings,
I'm about to do an assessment task at school where I have to make a website using MS Frontpage. I'm having a few problems though and was wondering if you could help me.
I think I should first tell you that we're not allowed to use themes and the OS is Windows XP Professional.
1. My hover buttons won't work. They look as though they're working (i.e. in the "Normal" view if you press Ctrl and click on them, they'll lead you to the linked page, but when it is in the "Preview" view they buttons come up as little crosses. What do I do to solve this problem?

2. Sometimes when I try to run the marquee it won't work. I can view it in the "Normal" window as being there, but when I go to preview it, it doesn't even show up, let alone scroll across the screen.

3. When using "Shared Borders", I can't make some links show up on one page, but not on the other. For example, if I put a home page link on a page titled "Activities" the home page link will also show up on the home page, which is really unecessary. My IT teacher says we don't need a link to every page on every page, so I really need to work out how do stop this.

I hope you can help me! Thanks in anticipation,
Sandy.

If you want to test to see if everything's working use the 'view in browser' option under 'File'. The other browser view is rubbish. If there's still x's it's usually due to moving pics and hyperlinks are lost. The only way to move files/folders is in 'folder's' view, by right-clicking file in right-pane, and dragging to file/folder in right-pane (you'll get an option like, 'move here').
I can't help with the other things, but here's a good FP forum link if no one here can help http://www.frontpagetalk.com/forums/default.asp?cookieCheck=840439983
Good luck.

I am using Frontpage XP and I haven't finished developing one particular page on my website..... is there anyway of marking the page as being under construction so that visitors can see the information is still being developed????

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:FrontPage XP

hi ticklyfloss,

just add a text box or watermark saying 'under construction', or search on google for a nice 'under construction' image to use.

btw I hate pages that aren't ready yet!! I've seen some being 'under construction' for years!!!!! If they are not finished don't provide a link to them. But that's just my view.

lol

I created FrontPage in ME and published it. Now I have downloaded XP and try editing information. It downloads and there is no error but for some reason when I go back out to the Internet to view it, it does not reflect the change. Any ideas? Thanks

I don't really understand your question, it didn't make much sense. But are you sure you uploaded the file correctly?
