I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Ello lexiebunny, Welcome to seven forums.
Could you post your system spec's please. It would help us help you if we know more about your system.

graphic card you used to have and the one you upgraded to.

Whe you installed the drivers for your new card. Did you uninstall the od drivers or install over the top?

Unless I am mistaken (I will double check) this is an ISA standard video card. Old. You would have to go back as far as a Socket 7 motherboard to find one with an ISA slot to use. The ISA slots are mostly colored black. I can post some pictures if that would help?

Im having trouble running games anywhere abour 1-20 fps even with all the graphic settings lowest possible. This is the computer I bought 3 years ago https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00LA12M4A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Do I need a new card and if so what kind and how would I go about adding it. Thankyou in advance for any input.

A:Believe I need a new grapics card?

We need more information about your computer than that Amazon link provides, so do the following in it:
Download and save the TSG System Information Utility (SysInfo.exe) file.
After it's been downloaded and saved, double-click it to run it.
Information about your computer will appear.
Return here to your thread, then copy-and-paste the ENTIRE text here.

Also advise us what the brand name and model number and wattage is of its power supply.

RAM: 2 GB DDR @300MHz
Motherboard: ASUS P4P8X with AGP 8x
PSU: 400W
OS: Win XP pro SP3/Win 7 pro SP1

i need a new gpu with similar (or higher) specs.. my budget is 75$, max 90...
what could i take?

I would look around sites like new egg or Tiger direct .com

Hi, hope someone can give me some quick advice. I just wanna upgrade my current graphics card but not sure if i need to look for something for compatibilty. Its for the Acer Aspire T300 and i think it currently only has an 8 meg card in it.
Thanks

A:Upgrading grapics card

If theT300 has integrated graphics, which i think it does, then it doesn't have a separate graphics card already installed - hence the fact it has pretty pathetic graphic stats at the moment!

Quite simply, it has 4x AGP slot for upgrading graphics - so you have the slots you can go for broke. One thing i would also consider is normal RAM aswell - if you just had the factory standard 128mb in there, increasing this as well would help if banging in a whopping graphics card too!

Hi all,

I purchased a new PCI video card for my computer recently. It was a Sparkle 9400 GT PCI

I own an IBM ThinkCentre S51 8171-CTO.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicat...IBM ThinkCentre S51 8171-CTO Desktop Computer

The case pops up on a hinge and it has a horizontal profile although it can be vertical with a stand. I inserted the card into the slot.
I notice that it was a bit of a tight fit with the lid coming down because of the card's unusually large
heat sink. After installing the card, I plugged the vga card into the new card and powered on the monitor.
No Signal. And the keyboard is unresponsive, I have to power down using the power button. I switch vga cables.
Monitor works, I go into BIOS and set the video to PCI, save and exit. No Signal. So I power down the same way again
(ctrl alt del doesn't seem to work at all on my pc) and switch cables again. Power back on, bootup screen shows, gos to
Windows loading screen so far so good... then No Signal and monitor goes blank.

To get it back I have to power it back on, get into BIOS and switch the video to IGD before the screen goes blank, which it does after about 60 seconds,
then switch the cable back to the onboard and reboot. I'm not sure why this is not working. I powered the computer down about 3 times and reseated the card, but no change. Are there things I can check before I determine the card is bad? Is ther... Read more

hi,
I have an old pc with:

Asus P4P8X (AGP 8x capable)
Pentium 4 @2,53 GHz
2GB RAM
Radeon 9600 Pro (256MB DDR AGP 8x)

I had a Sapphire HD 3450 AGP (512MB DDR2) before this Radeon 9600 Pro, but i broke it. Now I'm looking for a decent grapics card for this pc...

1) is a card like an HIS HD 5450 PCI fast as a Sapphire HD 3450 AGP 8x?

HIS HD 5450 has DDR3 memory and 650 MHz core clock, but PCI bus (cost 25-30$)
Sapphire HD 3450 has DDR2 memory and 600 MHz core clock, but AGP 8x bus

2) is a PCI 3.0 card compatible with a PCI 2.1 slot?

A:PCI or AGP low profile grapics card?

AGPx8 is better then PCI. First came PCI, then AGPx8, then PCIe. When AGP was first introduced, it had four times the bandwidth of PCI.

This is probably the best GPU you set in that board. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161337

So basically my computer is on its last legs, but unfortunately my funds are such that upgrading its graphics card (if possible) is a much more feasible option than purchasing a new computer. I am moderately tech savvy, but please be VERY clear with any responses you may have as my knowledge does NOT extend to computer hardware. So I currently have a Dell Dimension 8200 with XP Pro Service Pack 3, 512 MB Ram which I believe can be upgraded to 1G. Running a Pentium 4 CPU 1.9Ghz Processor and an NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti200 graphics card. The goal is to get this comp able to meet the minimum system requirements of Eve Online which require:
# CPU: Intel Pentium? or AMD @ 1,5 Ghz
# RAM: XP (SP2) ? 1 GB / Vista ? 1.5 GB
#Video: 64 MB Shader Model 2.0 Graphics cards such as GeForce FX (5 series) class card or higher, ATi 9500, x300 series or higher and Similar chips from other manufacturers

Is there a way to upgrade my computer to meet these requirements? Thank you for your help and time!!

Hello, and thanks in advance for your time!Earlier this afternoon, I noticed that the sound on my Thinkpad W510 was no longer working. I hadn't really done anything of note with my computer- just updated Adobe Reader to v9.2, that I can think of. When I checked the notification area, I saw this:However, when I right click and click "Playback Devices", I get the following: I immediately checked Device Manager, and found that everything appeared to be fine:I tried uninstalled and reinstalling the Conexant and NVIDIA drivers, as well as updating BIOS. Nothing seems to help, When try to use the mute/volume buttons on the keyboard, the speaker mute button lights up when pressed, but the microphone mute and volume +/- buttons don't appear to do anything. I've also tried plugging in headphones, and that does not make any difference. When I boot from an Ubuntu CD, however, sound works fine, so I don't think that it's a hardware issue.Anything that you folks could do to point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm at my mum's house and I've decided to try out MapleStory on her old laggy computer. She recently updated her internet, but it still runs terribly slow.
When I download MapleStory (client on the nexon website), everything downloads perfectly fine and within 2 hours, it'll be finished. Installing it takes time, but it ends up installing everything perfectly fine (including the finishing bits when you run the game).
It runs fine and I can log in and select a server and channel, but the moment it goes to the 'character selection' screen, the whole game starts flicking around and it makes it impossible to click 'back'.
If I select a server with no characters, the images stay fine, but if I go to create a character, the images begin to flick again. (Oblviously has something to do with the characters...but what)?
MapleStory doesn't close or anything, but I can't exit it. I can, but only by the task manager. Just want to know what's going on and if anyone knows how, how to fix the problem.
Help please... D:

My monitor is just spazzing out, and I have no idea why. In fact I know it's not the monitor that's the problem because I switched my tower with my brother's tower to see what would happen (using the same monitor), and it works perfectly fine.

Just so you guys have some background...

My computer decided to crash at one point whilst I was playing music and using MSN messenger, not even letting me bring up task manager using ctrl+alt+delete. I had to manually restart the computer, but when the startup screen came up it had a really strange graphics issue where there were sketchy lines running through the screen, and when the DOS-looking screen came up (i.e. when checking if there's anything in the CD drive) all the characters were jumbled and scattered. What's worse, Windows didn't even start up...the screen just stayed blank after the Windows load screen. I attempted Safe Mode and the same thing occurred, so I'm guessing it is a hardware issue?

Just to be sure I tried putting my computer through system recovery with the disk that was provided with the computer, and surprisingly it did take me to Windows...the part where it starts checking for hardware drivers and goes through all the stuff that it does when you recover the system...however when it said it had to test the keyboard and mouse, and the screen may flicker for a few seconds my monitor started off with its very own issue. I waited at least 10 minutes, and it didn't stop.

my tabs on google crome also get smaller, for example, the twitter tab when the screen is big will say twitter/home with a little gap after and when it is small only twitter/ho will fit. it happens constantly no matter if i'm touching the laptop or not. the screen will go back then swap size. however, if i'm typing it will carry on during the balck screen that's on for like half a second, but the cursor will go back to being in the middle. sometimes it can be like 15 mins between size changes, but sometimes it like happens about 10 times within 30 seconds.

Hi all,

I recently bought a relatively expensive sound card on Amazon and after the second boot of my PC with the card installed and working my on board LAN card decided to not work throwing error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
The card IS enabled in the BIOS and I HAVE disabled the on-board sound card.

LAN Adapter Details:
-Make and Model: Realtek RTL8137/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
-Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
-Driver Version: 6.112.123.2014
-Driver Date: 23/01/2014

This sounds like an IRQ problem, which is strange because modern PCs can usually resolve these conflicts automatically. But seeing that your system is a Pentium 4, maybe the motherboard is old enough to still be dealing with the issue.

One thing you could try is to perform a Clear CMOS procedure. This will force the motherboard to re-enumerate all the devices and will often solve IRQ conflicts. Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time in BIOS.
If that does not work then you could try to get the 2 cards to play nice together by installing them in different locations, if you have the extra slots.

Keep in mind that when removing any card it is important to remove it from Device Manager first. Remove it from Device Manager > shut down > then physically remove the card > then restart into Windows > then you can shut down perform the next procedure.

Sometimes you can simply install the newer card in another PCI/PCIe slot and that will resolve the conflict. (You must re... Read more

Hi. I recenly purchased a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP. I connect to the internet using a Linksys Wireless-G (model WMP54GS). That works just fine. However, I got a new video card, a GeForce FX 5500 and when it's installed the wirless card doesn't really work. It struggles to find the network. If it does find it it generally won't connect. Once in a while I can get it to connect but that's not very common. Once I remove the video card the network works fine. I've tried installing a variety of drivers for both PCI cards. I've tried moving the cards to different slots and the results are always the same. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

Hello

I just purchased 2 new hard drives and a new copy of Windows 10 for my desk top set up. I removed my old hard drives and put the new ones in with the intention of installing the operating system. However, when I start up my new system my monitor only displays picture for a couple of minutes before it goes blank and flicks between HDMI and Analog not displaying any picture.

What I have tried:

Using a different brand monitor with a different socket into my graphics card.

Using a different graphics card.

Using different ports for my graphics card in the board.

Removing and cleaning graphics card and RAM.

I even got desperate and changed my system back to what I used a few days ago and my monitor still plays up.

Does anyone have any advice on how to get my picture back?

I have a 4 year old Compac CQ61-410US Notebook. The flicking problem happens in Chrome and Internet Explorer and if I play the games that came with the computer. When I hit enter, space bar and other things it will stop for a while but then it is back. Interesting note it has not done it once since I have been on this site!
The noise is new  and it make me very nervous. No sound should be coming from this thing insides.  Well maybe a little but I do not want to hear it running this loud. Is my hard drive about to die?
On a personal note I am as old as dirt and every thing I buy I have to think will I live to use it. Should I just go and have everything downloaded to a new computer or is this pain something I can take of? I have had some other problems and have been able to fix it with help from this fabulous site
Thank You

A:Flicking on screen and noise in my laptop

First of all, welcome to BC. See, it's a great site, your problem has gone away already !

On a more serious note, what sort of noise is it ?  Sort of a fan whirring noise, or is there an element of click to it ?  There are three things I would do as a precaution / check.

First off, back up my data - work, photos, music, that sort of stuff. Depending on how much you have, you can use anything from a USB stick to an external USB hard drive. But back it up, just in case you do have a hard drive problem.

Secondly, run chkdsk /r on you hard drive. You do this by opening the Command prompt which you will find at 'Start / Programs / Accessories'. RIGHT click on 'Command prompt' and select 'Run as administrator' in the drop-down box that appears. This will produce a black window with white text. Just type 'chkdsk /r' (Note - there is a space between 'chkdsk' and '/r') and press enter. You will then get a message saying it cannot run, do you wish to run at next boot Y / N. Type 'Y' (= Yes) and press enter, then reboot your computer. Chkdsk will run when it starts up.

Dependiing on the size of your hard drive and the speed of your processor, this may well take upwards of an hour, don't turn your computer off until it has finished. It will then tell you if there are any faulty sectors on your hard drive.

Thirdly I would download, install and run a little program called 'Speccy', you can get it here :

Speccy

Hi,This is kuiyoung. I had service few month. I forgot when it was. That time your technician came to office and changed motherboard. But when Im using it, suddenly it starts flicking and get error message that pc went to wrong. It's been two weeks. Strongly I think this one has problem and I don't wanna repair anymore. Because as you can see, I requested several times to repair this notebook. I'm really sick of it. I really don't think this one has virus. Thus I don't wanna install any program to wasting my time. I hope that you understand my situation. Thus I wanna refund or change new one. If you refund I would be more happier than change new one happy. Because after changing new one, same problem, I won't call you guys again. I will definitely buy other brand. It was my first time to buy Dell laptop. Really disappointed. I hope other people won't make same problem like me. I used to use other brand and never had problem.

A:XPS15-9550, screen flicking

Per Dell policy;* A refund is only possible if requested inside the FIRST 30 days from the original invoice date.* Any system exchange after the first 30 day will be a refurbished, not new.At this point, all we can do on this Forum is troubleshoot the flicker issue. If we diagnose that hardware is at fault, you would then contact Technical Support to arrange either parts replacement or refurbished system exchange.* Reinstall our Intel HD graphics driver* Restart the laptop when finished* Reinstall our Nvidia GTX 960M graphics driver* Restart the laptop when finished and retest

Can you please tell us something about your machine?
Which OS do you use? Do you use original preinstalled OS you got with your machine or own OS version?

Have you tested it using different browsers?
To be honest I?ve never saw such issue on my or any other Toshi machine.

A:Screen flicking while opening an MP4 file

Hello Dinesh and welcome to the forums

Remove any 3rd party codecs you have installed, then install Shark007's codec pack:

Shark007.net - Windows Vista Codec Package

This should clear up any issues you're having

My monitor is beginning to fliicker and roll during warm up and getting progressively worse! I want to get a new monitor and wonder if there would be any conflicts with the on board integrated video and a monitor I select. What should I look out for?

I have a Dell XPS 8300 running win7 home prem. I do not do heavy graphics stuff. My current monitor was a Dell 2005FPW that was entirely adequate for my heeds. Any suggestions? What should I expect to pay?

A:Intel Integrated grapics and new monitor selection

Your computer is modern and the Intel graphics can handle any resolution of any monitor on the market, it also has VGA and HDMI which all monitors have at least one of those, or have DVI which can easily be converted to from HDMI.

As to how much you will have to pay, well that depends on the size and model you choose, here's lots with reviews from buyers: http://www.newegg.com/LCD-Monitors/SubCategory/ID-20

Most people these days go for a monitor around the 20 to 24" range, Samsung and Asus tend to make nice monitors and offer good warranties on them.

A:Grapics Driver Problem (The handle is invalid)

Hi Foursworn
Try this.

1) download the latest drivers for all three devices.

2) uninstall all three devices.

3) install all three devices.
