Preferred Solution: Can I change the Lenovo Ideapad 720S-14IKB bios / boot logo?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. My fingerprint scanner worked when I got the laptop November 2017 and then all of a sudden it stopped working.I thought it might have been an update for Windows or problems with the Lenovo Drivers. It showed up on and off in the Device Manager area but always with the Error Code 10 when it did show up.Most if the time it wasnt even on the list.I have done all the steps ive read from unistalling and reinstalling drivers, updating bios, clearing TPM on both windows and bios, Windows In-Place Upgrade,etc.... NOTHINGhas worked. Spoke to Lenovo Live HelpNothing worked they told me to contact Microsoft. Spoke to Microsoft Live HelpNothing worked. They could not get it fixed. Now after a BIOS update that Lenovo suggested it showed up again but now says:Currently, this hardware device is not connected to the computer. (Code 45)To fix this problem, reconnect this hardware device to the computer.Pic attached. Then it disappeard again from the Device Manager List! After trying all this....is this what I think it is??Hardware malfunction and I will need to send it back to Lenovo for replacement?? Wanted to hear all your thoughts! errorgone from device manager list

Since I choose my ideapad for its elegant and refined design, the hideously embarassing boot logo that popped up at start up came as a really bad surprise. So far, I can't really think of coping with that for the entire life cycle of my PC. I'm therefore looking for a way of replacing it with a much nicer alternative Lenovo logo, any other one would look much better...  This issue has been discussed already for the Thinkpad and other Lenovo notebooks, but none of the proposed solutions seem to be compatible with the Ideapad serie and they all sound far too industrious. Can someone let us know of a step-by-step method of achieving this on an Ideapad 320 without having to dismantle the whole PC?     Thanks for your help.

So I am trying to change the boot logo on the said laptop, The New Graphic one with the weird design, just google Ugly lenovo logo. so I downloaded a basic logo and converted it to a 16 bit bmp images less than 20kb and i am using the lenovo supplied Pheonixtools SCT flash for windows program, The working folder has, the BIOS.cap file, the rsp file which defines the parameters for the flash,  and the 32 and 64 bit GUI and dos exe and another dosflash file. to this i added my logo file which is l.bmp... now when ever from cmd i run the command "Winflash64.exe /logo l.bmp" it automatically detects the Bios.cap file and the Image but the process always fails at "SecureFlash Verification Fail", going through the help page doesnt help as there is no parameter to skip the file verification except for skipping the Date and time check of the bios....  any halp please !!!

Hi! I bought the Ideapad 720S-14IKB about two weeks ago, and I am really really happy about it. The only thing that is bothering me, is that the fans on this machine cycle a lot. Like, for a while they make basically no noise, until they suddenly ramp up to the max for a short period before they go back to being practically silent. They're not even that loud in general, it's just that they are pulsating a lot, and that makes the noise so much more noticeable. I really would like to see a BIOS update or driver update or something that makes the fan cycling a bit smoother. Is there any chance of this actually happening in the near future?

Hi.About half a year ago, I bought the Lenovo ideapad 720S-14IKB. Since day 1, I noticed this problem where the mouse becomes invincible for a few seconds after I open a new tab in the webbrowser or start a new program. Here is a video of it: https://i.imgur.com/FSR05gs.mp4 Futhermore, after installing the latest BIOS update (4VCN41WW), the laptop has started to freeze for a couple of seconds on me every once in a while.  Are these, things that can be fixed by myself? Or should i talk to the store where i bought it about sending it to repair? I live in Denmark, so I have 2 years warrenty.

Machine: Ideapad 720S-14IKB Type 81BD The Problem: Randomly (and frequently) the touchpad completely stops functioning. This issue persists even through restarts. After 30-60 minutes it just as unexpectedly starts working again. While it's not working it is 100% non-functional: no mouse shows up on screen, clicking does nothing, swiping does nothing, gestures do nothing. While it is working it is 100% functional: everything works as expected. Things I've already tried:- The 'disable trackpad' function key (trackpad doesn't work in either mode)- Restarting (issue persists through restart)- Updating software (I got latest Windows 10)- Updating firmware (I got latest firmware through Lenovo System Update) Something I noticed while looking for solutions:In 'Device Manager' there is a Trackpad entry in the 'firmware' category, but no driver in the  'Mice and other Pointing Devices' category. I'm not sure if that's normal for this device, and I guess if I have no driver it doesn't explain why my trackpad sometimes *does* work. Also, when looking for a fresh driver download on Lenovo's support page for this machine, there was no entry for trackpad drivers, which struck me as odd. Edit: it has occured to me it's possible this is a hardware issue, so I'll just add that I haven't knocked or spilled anything on the machine either. There was no obvious physical event that preceded the first time this happened.

I got this laptop in Jan this year, and basically it's been great except for some strange CPU behaviour which I need answers for...Mine has the following configuration: i7-8550u / 16gb RAM / 512gb PCIe SSD / MX150 SituationOut of the box, when under heavy load / doing stress tests the CPU refuses to go beyond 2ghz on all 4 cores. But in regular use clock speeds on all 4 cores do spike to almost 4ghz sometimes. Basically it seemed quite glaring to me that the CPU wasn't performing as well as it is capable of. Turbo boost was acting strangely. My investigationsTried using throttlestop to fiddle with settings and it looked like turbo boost wasn't fully enabled by default. Throttlestop enabled me to let turbo boost run indefinitely without the 2ghz cap. However over time I noticed that my CPU easily rose to temps beyond 80C (in short bursts) even in regular use. This was with the default TDP limit configured to be 18.75W. So in order to test the system's cooling performance, I did a CPU & GPU stress test at the same time using XTU & Furmark and CPU temps went into the high 90s and caused my system to crash. Same thing happened even after I lowered the TDP to 15W. All of this happened despite undervolting the CPU.  For context ambient temps here are usually ~30C, and regular use temps are perfectly fine at ~40-50C (excluding the above). So now fearing that longevity might be affected cause of consistent heat spikes I have reset all s... After updating bios, fingerprint worked once but now it stopped working again. And none of the other solutions have worked at all.In the settings it says win hello can't be used in this pc - which is untrue. In the device manager i have the little triangle warning sign on my synaptics wbdi and device status is "cannot be started (code 10)".Real solutions are welcome. Thanks.

I purchased a Crucial 16GB DDR4 2400 SODIMM 1.2V CL17 RAM chip to upgrade my Lenovo IdeaPad 720S-14IKB which had an 8GB RAM chip. I did check the Crucial website beforehand that the CT16G4SFD824A chip would work, and indeed it said that it should. However, it does not work very well. To get the laptop to boot beyond BIOS post (and actually boot Windows), I have to first power it on, then hold the power button for 4 seconds to force shut it down and the hit the exact time to start it again (around 1 second after the power light goes off) to get it to boot. If I do not use this procedure, the screen will not turn on and the Lenovo logo will never show.  I think this is related to the BIOS training the memory chip or something like this, and the process described above circumvents this process. This is the only "semi-reliable" way I have found to boot the machine with this RAM. I have ran tests on the memory while in Windows, and everything seems to work as normal. I believe the problem might be some incompatibility with Lenovo BIOS and this RAM chip but I am unsure of how to proceed from here.  Does anyone have any tips for me, while I know how to get the machine to boot, it is very cumbersome and sometimes results in the need for Windows to "repair" itself which is not exactly great.

Hello everyone, At a random time, when the cursor changes from "normal" to "working in background" it becomes pixelated and jumps away a few centimeters and then returns back to original position when loading is complete. The only way to work around this is if I make a change in mouse settings, like "enable pointer shadow" and then revert it back as it was. I am on an Ideapad 720s 14IKB running Windows 10 x64 Version 10.0 Build 16299 Is anyone else having the same issue?

One strechted, one small, one medium sized and a bigger version (probably the logos are changing automatically depending on the panel resolution. I would be very grateful, if a tool like this can be provided. Kind Regards,Hideki

Hello, I am posting on behalf of my mom. Similar to some complaints of the Yoga Series her IdeaPad 720s screen is beginning to separate from the panel. Because I seldom ever use her laptop I've not really noticed. While trying to figure out an issue shes been having with some work software (electronic health records), I noticed that the bottom of the panel (in between the rubber seal and hinge area) is slightly exposed and is showing some of the innards of the laptop. She doesn't have the greatest eye sight, so she hasn't noticed. Is anyone else having these issues? Is there a fix or am I going to have to RMA the unit? She's only had the unit for about a month and a half.

Hi, I am writing here because i am concerned by an issue that happened to me today. I came home from school where i was working on my laptop, then once i got home i picked my laptop to work again, but i instantly noticed a big crack on my screen going from the top, near the camera, spreading until it reaches the bottom left of the screen. I decided to call the warranty service from lenovo and explained them the situation, but the customer service representative told me that the warranty doesn't cover physical damage and and that i had to send them the computer so a technician decides whether it is my fault or not... I am very concerned by the situation because i am sure that that crack isn't the result of a bad usage of the product from me, i always take care of it and i have it since almost 2 months.  Considering that, i just wanted to know if something similar happened to other people here and what did the technicians decide ? Thanks for your help

Hi, I'm looking at buying this laptop, but i came across a few questions: 1) Can this laptop support up to 32gb RAM as it is mentioned in some youtube reviews? 2) Can this laptop support video through the USB-C port as well, or just data? I'm looking at connecting 2 portable USB-C monitors, 1 through the Thunderbolt port and the other through the normal USB-C port. 3) Is the Thunderbolt port 2 lanes or 4? 4) Is this 4k screen anti-glare as well? 5) How would this 4k screen work connected to 2 FHD portable monitors, in terms of resolution? 6) Is this 4k screen suffering from backlight bleeding as some reviews suggest? Thanks in advance.

Answers to some of your questions: 1) Yes, it supports up to 32GB RAM, however you would need two 16GB 2400MHz DDR4 SO-DIMM modules, which are rather expensive.2) I can confirm, that one USB-C port supports ThunderBolt 3 and DisplayPort 1.2a connection.4) No, it's a glossy panel.6) Most of IPS screens suffers from backlit bleeding problem. It's mostly depends on unit, which you've receive.
