Q: Lenovo 16GB DDR4 2666MHz SoDIMM Memory Question.

Lenovo ram is quite expensive that I have seen and wonder if anyone on this board would know what kind of 16 GB stick would fit well with my existing 16 MB stick on the X1 extreme ?

Preferred Solution: Lenovo 16GB DDR4 2666MHz SoDIMM Memory Question.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi,

I would like to increase the memory on my Son's computer, an ASPIRE E 15 (E5-575-51EF) that has a I5-7200U motherboard and a 8 GB DDR 4 RAM memory. The video card is a GeForce 940 MX 2 GB VRAM.

Here are my 2 questions:

1. The computer has two memory slots, can I combine an 8 GB DDR4 memory by inserting a 16 GB DDR4 memory into the second slot?

2. Will this increased memory significantly increase the computers gaming experience playing counterstrike and other online games?

I am not sure if it is worth the $250 investment so a quick reply would be great.

10-31-2015 @ 4.25pm On the A740, I figured out that it will allow 16GB laptop RAM stick in its single memory slot. However, I did find out that a 16GB single-slot laptop memory stick will work on the A740and will get you to 16GB memory on only one memory slot (which the A740 has). The A730 was easier because it has two memory stick slots (so you could do 2 * 8gb = 16GB),but A740 only has one memory slot.  Therefore, you can not go with two of the cheaper 8gbmemory, because you have to spend more on the 16GB single-stick laptop.  So, hopethis helps other people.

Is a CL=13 DDR4 SODIMM compatible with the P50? I'm planning to get the Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2133MHz CL=13 32GB (Kit of 2x16) for my P50. However, on checking manufacturer's websites (Intel, Lenovo, Crucial, Kingston, G-Skill), compatible sodimms for the P50 have CAS Latencies (CL) of 15, 16, or 17. Will the Kingston HX421S13IBK2/32 work on my machine? Has anyone used sodimms with CL=13 on their machine? Thank you.

This isn't a question, but the answer to a question that I couldn't find the answer to. I went to the computer fair today and got to try before buy a 16GB Kit of DDR3 SODIMM 1333MHz Memory today. It worked just fine.

After exhausting the internet looking for anyone who had done this I'm happy to say I'm probably the first to post success. I hope others can learn from this and be as successful.

The SODIMM's are CMSO8GX3M1A1333C9 Corsair memory

Next week I'm going to try out the 8GB (2x4GB) Kit of Kingston HyperX 1866MHz C11 Memory and see what performance increases can be had.

Hey Lenovo Enthusiasts! I am about to purchase the Lenovo Thinkpad 550s, and I am tempted to purchase the baseline memory (4GB) and storage (512GB) HDD.  I want to make sure that I can indeed upgrade the memory to 16GB of RAM and the storage to a 256 (or 512) GB SSD. In my research earlier on, I noticed that somebody had posted a link to the parts list:https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/w550s_frubom_20150130.pdf I don't know what half of this technical jargon is, but from what I gather, I have found an SSD made by Samsung on Amazon, and an 8GB memory made by Data Memory Systems that seem to abide. SSD:http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-256GB-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-7KE256BW/dp/B00LMXBOP4 Memory:http://www.datamemorysystems.com/parts/lenovo/03X6657/ Questions:1) Could somebody wiser than me please verify that these products will work for the w550s? I was going to purchase them from Crucial, as they say that is is "100% compatible" but I am not sure still.Crucial: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/Lenovo/thinkpad-w550s 2) In regards to the warranty, does anyone know if I were to mess up the data preloaded on the HDD that is put in the laptop, by trying to transfer it to the SSD, would the warranty cover fixing this? Kind regards,Spencer

A:Lenovo Thinkpad W550s Memory upgrade to 16GB and S...

Very disappointing. Yes, I have the same problem (son, since it is your problem!). I note that over 189 people have at least looked at this question you asked before we decided to have you purchase the W550S...and after calling tech support one last time after my son purchased the machine (and was told there should be no issue)-we see BSOD multiple times within an hour.  They happen so quickly that it is hard to even note what the error message is.... I replaced his 512 HD with Samsung SSD 512GB drive. I used a disk duplicator-everything seemed to go great. Then I put in 16GB of RAM-again, everything seemed great. However, the notebook is only now being used frequently as my son is starting school now-and as said above, the BSOD is making me think this has something to do with the SSD or RAM replacement. Yes, obviously, it's fairly easy to replace with the original parts and see if the problem goes away-but he wanted the SSD and more RAM, so even if that fixes the issue-we will likely get rid of the notebook. BUT:  here is what disappoints me:  absolutely no comment on my son's original questions. I'm guessing I won't get input from Lenovo either....will try to call tomorrow, but we are almost beyond the point where we need to return the SSD/RAM and notebook if we want our money back. A little guidance from Lenovo would be appreicated before we need to make a decision.. Thanks,Steve

Inspiron 14z n411z (Laptop): Authoritative confirmation of memory upgrade to 16 GB, 16GB, 16gb

There are various claims that 14z/n411z can be upgraded to 16GB (unofficial or therotical based on CPU-i5 being Sandy bridge)

Here are the main issues on this subject that has left many customers scramble for answers and find themselves confused:
* It is the interest of customers that Dell come out with an official statement "confirming" or "denying" if this is possible
* Yes, at the time of sale Dell stated that max permitted was 8GB. But now therotically (Sandy Bridge CPU can support 16Gb) and based on other users experiments it seems possible, but no concrete/firm proof available.
* If it is possible, Dell can always state that it will not support 16GB, though it (Dell) has tested it as possible in their labs.
* In the absence of a confirmation from Dell, most memory vendors are not selling memory 16 GB upgarde for Inspiron using their "configurators".
* There is another confusing twist to this problem, created by the fact there is another Dell XPS model facing same problem. But they newer CPU, for which most vendors are selling the memory upgrade on their configurators.
* For Dell, most users are now "past their Warranty" period. There is no liability in answering this question. In the LARGER interest of customers Dell should clear this doubt.

Hi doronazl,

If you are ordering from Lenovo, they will only configured the system with 2400Mhz memory, buy by looking at the parts lookup of ThinkPad P51 it has an option of 2666Mhz Memories of both 8GB and 16GB.

So it can handle both 2400 and 2666Mhz memories. Detailed memory specifications : 64GB max7 / 2400MHz DDR4, ECC or non-ECC (ECC function supported only on Xeon processor), dual-channel capable, four DDR4 SO-DIMM sockets.

I hope the above information helped you.

Adding memory: is "system specific" memory worth it? (Kingston DDR4) I have a recent P50, and want to add more memory to it. I'm planning to go with Kingston. I've heard it's better to avoid "Value" memory. But I'm a bit stuck on which of the different Kingston lines to go with beyond that. Is there any real difference in getting the "system specific" memory, as opposed to, say, the HyperX? Do Lenovo laptops tend to do ok with the Kingston HyperX? Specifically, the "system specific" memory I was looking at is: Kingston 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) System Specific Memory Model, KCP421SD8/16 And the "gamer targeted" memory I was looking at is: HyperX Impact 16GB 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000) Laptop Memory Model HX421S13IB/16 Kingston has a memory finder tool on their site, which points to the System Specific memory. However, I called them and they said this particular HyperX should work too. I'm sure this is not a novel observation, but I was surprised to find that the "system specific" memory is more expensive than the gamer-targeted HyperX. (At least, once you take into account that those go on sale more often.) I'd in theory rather go with the HyperX because it claims to be fast, etc. On the other hand, there is in theory some appeal to the idea that the System Specific is guaranteeing compatibility. On the other hand, it'd suck to buy the System Specific and find out it's basically just the same thing as, say, Va... Read more

Hello,
I have a two part question here, and am really hoping that someone is online right now that can help answer either one!
I accidentally bought the wrong memory for a Dell laptop I just purchased used- and am wondering if I can use it in my HP Pavillion 510W desktop machine? The memory is SODIMM PC-100 64MB - My computer is a HP Pavillion 510W with two hard drives in it- one that came with it- a 40 gig hd and the second is an older one that I added myself. The book for the HP only mentions SDRAM; DDR DIMM, and RIMM- and I am not very literate with memory things, so I need to know if this SODIMM might be work-able? I need more ram on this thing terribly bad.
Also- what would cause certain services in WinXP to shut down all the time? I constantly lose the abillity to cut and paste, and several of the services have stopped running at about the same time that happens- several other things also happen that are inconvenient, but I can't remember right now what they were- sorry. The services that shut down a lot are the Windows Installer, the RPC stuff, the COM+ stuff, DNS client, DHCP Client, IPSEC, Network DDE, NVIIDIA driver, and ocasionally a few others off and on. I just had to re-install the system again, (I don't know HOW many times I've had to do this), and though I had it doctored up right before that, or thought I did, so that all those things weren't happening, it's back at it again. Can anyone help with this?

Hello,I got a new laptop HP Probook 440 G4 that came with one 8 GB RAM memory module 2400 MHz CL17 1.2V 260pin SODIMM from Samsung. It has Intel i5 7200 CPU.I was expecting it to come with one 8 GB RAM 2133 MHz memory module, based on their description when I made the order, so I prepared another (my) 8 GB 2133 MHz module to add it to the laptop when it arrives.Would you please help me with a couple of questions, so I can see what options are available to me? 1. Can I mix one  DDR4 8GB 2400MHz CL17 module with one DDR4 8GB 2133MHz CL16 module to make total 16GB RAM? 2. Is it better if I mix one 2400MHz CL17 8GB module with another 2400MHz 8GB but with CL16 ? 3. Can this HP Probook 440 G4 with i5 7200u CPU support 32GB RAM (2 modules of 16GB DDR4 2400MHz CL14 or CL17)? During my work I often run a couple of virtual VBOX machines on my laptop, where each virtual machine uses 8GB of RAM, so having 32GB RAM on the laptop would be useful. Thank you,Buki

Hi Buki,Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05269107According to MSG, it comes with PC4-17000, 2133MHz, DDR4 SODIMMs8-GB , HP part number 820570-001http://partsurfer.hp.com/ShowPhoto.aspx?partnumber=820570-001Both the RAMs are DDR4 1.2V 260-pin SO-DIMM SDRAM.If it is currently harbouring 2400MHz , it down clocks to 2133MHz i.e., configured speed. Latency is nothing to be worried about (CL17, CL14).Page 2, max 16gb is what is listed.Get module with exact specs, voltage, configuration as listed in the manual. It is guaranteed to work.By mixing 2400MHz with 2133MHz, both will work in 2133MHz dual channel mode.Go through page 36, 37 in manual for instructions.RegardsVisruth

- Will allow you to do Dual Channel, even though the gains for dual channel are not that impressive.
- Can upgrade to a maximum of 16 GB (4x4), which is plenty for regular usage.

1 stick of ram:

- You will be able to upgrade to 16 GB if you add an extra one, and 32 if you fill the four slots. although I would recommend memory packs, not different batches of ram.
- You don't have dual channel
Personally, I would do 2 x 4GB, 2 x 8 or 4 x 4GB, but that's just me. All ram slots filled looks better if you care about that.

I've noticed my memory is sky rocketing up to the 90%s when gaming or idle. I checked my specs and have realized only 6.6gb is usable. I was wondering if anyone had a fix to this? Thanks.

A:Windows 10 6.6gb memory usable out of 16gb memory.

Moire info needed.

Make/model of system board/computer.

What does your BIOS show? At first glance it appears you have shared memory, typically this is a laptop setup and if memory allocated to video less available to the system.

I was posting to a different thread but it appears to have died.  In fact, the last three posts were me posting to myself. I have a new P50 which shipped with a 500GB hard drive and 8GB of memory running Windows 10 Home.  I have "built it up" by adding a Samsung 950 Pro NVMe drive and 24GB of additional Corsair DDR4 2133 (PC1700) memory.  I'm fairly certain the final 8GB of memory I added works with the Samsung-installed memory which ships with the machine, and everything looks good in CPU-Z. Unfortunately the machine is extremely unstable.  I get various and frequent BSOD and the machine shuts down.  Generally it is some sort of memory error message but sometimes it is a different error message.  The machine shuts itself down and reboots.  It often does this from a standard Windows screen even when I am away from the machine.  Some boots are more "stable" than others and it lasts longer before crashing.  I am not positive the Samsung NVMe driver is installed because, when I go into Device Manager and right click to check the driver for the NVMe drive it reports the Microsoft driver.  (I have tried to install the new version 1.1 Samsung driver multiple times.) I'm not quite sure what to do next because I don't know what is wrong.  Lenovo has been of no help because they only want to support the machine as originally configured, i.e., with 8GB of memory and a 500GB hard drive.  I wouldn't have bought th... Seems to be a memory problem.Perhaps you can remove later added memory then verify if the problem still exists.

A:Lenovo G505s - question about upgrading RAM memory

Hi subhamzzz ,

Welcome to the Lenovo Community Forums.

Genral specifications for G505s :
- DDR3 / DDR3L * 2 SODIMM, 1600 MHz.- Dual channel for AMD Richland- Upgradeable to 32 GB Memory with two 16 GB SODIMMs

Lenovo recommend RAM listed on the hardware manual (item 16 page 83-84).
Regarding third party reseller options , best to check with specific manufacturer Corsair to match advantages of the higher priced RAM from a cheaper value of their product.

This may include heat spreaders , backward compatibility and auto detect speed technology offered in vengeance.

Sticking with OEM recommendation is still the best option but do not limit users to their choice as long as those choice works for them.

Hope this help answer your query.

Regards

A:Lenovo Ideapad 110 - Memory Upgrade Question

Your hardware maintenance manual is here:https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_110-14_15isk_hmm_201607.pdfPage 27 states 8GB max, 1 memory slot, DDR4-2133MHZ.You have 4GB memory soldered on the board.Page 72, item 10 shows OEM memory. I see 2GB and 4GB offerings to the memory slot. Thus a total of 6GB or 8GB(includes the soldered 4GB).  You would have to contact Cruical as to adding 16GB to the memory slot.

Hi all! I'm about to buy a Lenovo IdeaPad 510 15 80SV00L1HV, and i have read that it is possible to upgrade to Memory (RAM) up to 12 GB. My question is that if i do it at home, not at a service, do i lost the warranty, or it is possible to upgrade the RAM at home, while keeping the warranty. I really don't want to lose the warranty, but 4GB RAM is not enough for me and i know that it is not hard to do it at home. Thanks for the answers.
