Shared Internet, Multiple PCs, One email account

Q: Shared Internet, Multiple PCs, One email account

I have one PC with a satellite connection to the internet. This PC is not connected to any other LAN, but we want to add a router and share the connection to the internet with another PC. Our hope is to have both PCs be able to access the same POP3 email account. Currently the one PC we have has Netscape 7, and we have archives and local mail saved in that format. How can I set up the second PC with access to the internet email and local mail archives without stepping on eachothers' toes, so to speak? How can I have both PCs accessing the same POP3 email at the same time and save them to the same place for retreival on both PCs?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

By setting each mail-handler on the associated PC to the same account should do the trick. However, this will allow for the toe-stepping that you don't want. I haven't really got any idea how to solve this though!

I've been using Eprompter for years to notify me when I get mail in my OE, Gmail, and Hotmail accounts, but it has stopped working for Hotmail & Gmail. I read in their forums, and this just seems to be something everyone accepts, no promises of getting it fixed. Is anyone using another notifier that works well for you?

Do you keep several accounts? Mine are for...........
1 for junk when I have to give my address online where I know they'll send spam (I empty it every few months)
2 for business and people who don't send forwards
1 mostly for old friends who started out with me in OE
1 for people who spend their days sending forwards with all addresses visible (It only irritates them when I ask for Blind Carbon Copy)

I have a new laptop (XP Pro) with a different version of Outlook (not express) than the one I'm use to on my desktop. Under tools, then email accounts. A window opens that says I can change accounts, directories, and address books.
My question is: Can I use this one address book for my different businesses, and still send and receive emails with different accounts. In other words, can I send mail form one address book, but still use several different email accounts that I can choose and change which ones. I know, confusing!
Any Thoughts?

Here is our situation, we have all of our email come into one account, from there, we have multiple people responding to these emails. We need an email client that is fast and responsive, so if someone clicks an email so that it becomes "read", it will also become "read" on another person's computer across the room, or in another office. We have tried IMAP accounts, but they seem to have a lag time, so multiple people will respond to the exact same email. What are my best options here? We are currently all running on macs, using mail.app, but are open to changing. Thanks for input.

In our 3 man office, we use a mixture of Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. We don't have exchange server. We have an email account that is our "service" account. Right now, whenever someone needs to send an email using the "service" account, we have to wait for the pc to be free and then send email from there. I know the pst file is not shareable. But, can someone suggest how we can have one email account that is accessible by multiple users and have the incoming and outgoing emails located in one files? Thanks.

A:How to access one email account by multiple users

You also want this to work across multiple PCs, not only multiple users, right?

If it is IMAP email there is really no problem. No need to worry about one file or set of file, because each computer will be synced with the email server.

If it POP mail you may be able to to it, but I do not know Outlook to say for sure. It would, of course, involve designating one PC as the host, share the files, and then redirect Outlook on the other PCs to use those shared files.

My internet email contacts list has apparently been used to send out spam the other day. I'm not sure how this occured or how to prevent it from happening again. I run MaAfee and Adware quite regulary. I'm not sure if this is an infection or if someone has hackedinto my Y****O account.

I had some old addresses that are no longer valid so that they were kicked back. I am copying that belwo in case that is of use.

My fixes to remedy this is:
1) Change password
2) Delete all contacts except my work email.
3) Run Spybot and Adaware
4) Rescan computer with virus scan (had scan about 2 days prior)

Am I infected with something? I don't know

I have x'd out all of the email addresses that were shown

Thanks for helping out

If the account was closed then the messages are likely gone. Unless you have them stored in an email program on your computer such as Outlook, Live Mail, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, or something similar.

I installed Windows 8 on Christmas Day and I skipped the email account setup parts. I never used any APPS yet, in fact I removed everything app-related from my start screen including notifications, etc.

I have used the Classic Shell so far, but today I thought I'd set up the Live email account login.

While I was setting up the app account I kept getting emails from the live account manager to confirm what I was doing and I confirmed each one.

The last thing it asked to 'Trust this PC'. I did so and my machine name appeared on my Microsoft account profile page under "Trusted PC".

But when I restarted I could no longer log in with my local account or the new Live email account.

I logged in as Administrator and saw that my local account name was changed from my username to <[email protected]>, my live account ID. It would not allow Administrator to change the account name or my password.

I tried to log in with the email and Live password, but it said I could not log in with his PC and that I need to resolve the issue with the live account on-line.

I had a password reset disk (USB drive) and I used it. It started up the reset wizard and I put back my old password. It finished with no error but I still could not log in.

Finally, I logged in as Administrator and restored my Acronis system image from yesterday. Then everything was back to normal.

I have no idea what happened, I was very careful doing each of these steps.

I have a new ASUS notebook and it uses Windows 8. On my home pc I have Windows Vista and was able to set up multiply email accounts in Window Live Mail. (my charter, my hubby charter, 2 school google accounts and yahoo)
I was able to read mail coming thru our main email acct (my charter), if an email came thru that needed to go to my hubbys account or another account I was able to drop and drag it to the other account listed on the screen.

I have most of my emails set up on my new ASUS notebook. Is there any way to drop and drag emails from one account to another? I can drag the email and hover over the new email account, but it does not drag it.

Upgraded from Windows 7 to Win 10 and was loving it (was). Saw there was a mail app and thought that would be pretty handy. Signed in and since then, I have to log in to my PC as my email address and password.

I don't want that.

How do I revert my existing user back to a non-Windows live user, with a normal, local account and password?

I am happy to not use the Mail app if that's what it takes, but my concern is that the profile I have now has all my icons and docs and stuff and I don't want to go through the hassle of copying over the profile.

There must be a way to undo this change, but I can't find it.

I've been using Windows 10 for weeks. Until today, it started up just fine by displaying my name and no email address. This is exactly how I want it to be.

Today when Win 10 would not recognize a printer, in order to download an "app" to help with this, I was required to provide a Microsoft email account, which I did (an old Hotmail account I rarely use). Now when I restart or wake up the computer, that old Hotmail account appears as "Administrator". However, I do NOT want that old Hotmail email address associated with this computer.

How can I remove it and get back to logging in with NO associated email address?

NOTE: I do not want to delete the old Hotmail account; just want to remove it from my Windows 10 "Account" menu (My name + Hotmail address + "Administrator").

In case it's required to associate Win 10 with an email address, I use Windows Live Essentials with a company email address. I tried adding it via the "Other Account" option, but Win 10 said it did not recognize the email address I entered, sigh.

I saw threads with a similar question but not quite the same.

Thanks for any help!

2) Created a shared folder and added the @hotmail.com account in permissions (It shows it there as a SID)

Now, trying to browse to the folder from a Windows 7 Ultimate box, the @hotmail.com account and password are not accepted. From the same box I can use my Admin Windows 8 account alias however.

I am in the process of setting up a home business and wish to set up a separate business email account with low set up costs. I currently have a personal Hotmail and Gmail accounts but wish to create a secondary Gmail account for my business. I do not have a registered domain name. I tried numerous ways to set up a secondary gmail account without success it would initially accept the new gmail address but when it would ask to activate the account, it would not allow me to login to the account to do this. It would come up with a message advising that the account address is unknown. So I would again go through the process and it would then advise that the username is already taken, so I just keep on going around in circles. I then went into Google Apps for business in which it would ask me to register my domain name for a fee of $13 per year. However, the domain name would be registered under the two option provided Enom and Go Daddy. Neither in which I am familiar with. Can you please offer some assistance. My first preference would be setting up a secondary gmail account and if not is google apps for business a reliable avenue in registering my business name in order to obtain a professional separate business email account and if so which provider is the better option. Keeping in mind I wish to keep the costs at a minimum at this stage.

Hi, firstly please bear with me as i'm new to this. I'm trying to setup the email on our virtual server through cpanal and using Thunderbird 3 (although i did try it with Outlook 2007 and the same results.)

Using the given Incoming and Outgoing mail server info given (mail.domain.co.uk) and the mail server username, I get a failed to find error (using both POP3 and IMAP). If I change that too the SSL settings for Incoming / Outgoing (serverusername.miniserver.com), it works and autofinds Connection Security as STARTTLS and finds the ports too. With this I can send emails fine, but I am not getting incoming emails, and I don't know enough about it too see what I'm doing incorrect, any help would be great, thanks.

I posted this on yahoo answers first, but the only response I got was "restart your outloook and try later." *facepalm* Glad to have found a place more dedicated to such problems.

I need to remotely access computer management of a computer that has a different user name and password than the administrator accounts on my local machine.
When I looked this up, I found this suggestion:
"C:> net use \\computername /user:computername\localadmin The password or user name is invalid for \\computername.
Enter the password for 'computername\localadmin' to connect to 'computername':
The command completed successfully.
Now you can launch compmgmt.msc to manage the remote PC."

However it doesn't work.  The net use command completes successfully, but when I run compmgmt.msc it still opens it up locally connected and if I try to connect to the remote computer through the mmc, I don't have any rights to view anything just
as if I never ran the net use command.
How do you use the remote computer management mmc when the administrator accounts are not the same on the local machine and the remote machine?

Hey everyone,

so I just noticed two of my computers are automatically sharing the entire user?s directory with all permissions for everyone, I was reading up on this a bit before and it seems it?s a Windows bug.

I was wondering, since the password protected sharing is turned on by default, would anyone have been able to gain access to my computers information if they didn't have a user account / password or would they need an account / password no matter what the permissions are set to.
Thank you.

A:Is a folder shared by permissions or is an account / password needed

By default windows has the "guest" account turned off so no, no one outside with a username/pw that was not already known by your local machine should have been able to get access.

Though I'm surprised that you found your users folder shared since I have never seen that by default. Given that, I'd check to see if your computers "guest" user is enabled or not... (hopefully not). If it was then it may have been possible for others to browse that folder...

I have a site that has 5 different offices on a single floor. Also on that floor is an expensive piece of equipment (medical scanner) that all offices want to share.

Currently the scanner is a standalone device that runs Windows XP in the background of the imaging render/viewing software.

Each office is using a domain environment, and each have their own server (holding the rolls of File Server, DNS, & DHCP), as well as data connection. Some offices have a T1 circuit for data and others have DSL. Each office has different IP addressing schemes, with the excetpion of 2 using 192.168.x.x. All the routers in use are basic routers, (Actiontek Motorola, or Sonicwall) no Cisco equipment. All workstations are using Windows XP Pro.

The overall goal we are looking for is for each office to have a single workstation that will have access to pull and view data captured by the scanner, but they want to keep their own networks separate.

Each workstation that will pull and view captured data will have to have the scanner manufactures software installed.

I have spoken with the manufacture about if this is even a possibility with this software, and they have told me that other locations have accomplished what we are trying to do. They said that each workstation that has the software installed will just have to be able to map a network drive to the 'storage' folder on the imaging PC/scanner.

The only thing that I could think of was connecting the scanner to one network and... Read more

My wife and I each have a computer. We are on Comcast. Her's is hard wired into a router and mine is wirelessly connected. We have a single e-mail address. Until recently when a message came to our address it was received in both computers. We could independently read, delete, forward or what ever. We could save as we wished all independently of each other. Now only one computer receives the message and the other does not. If I forward to my wife at our address and my wife opens it first it works but if I forward it and open my inbox before she does I will get it but she will not -- only one location get it. There has been one change that may be involved here. Both computers were loaded with Norton Antivirus 2005 at the time this problem started. Norton (India) claims no problem and Comcast can't help either. I can't reach dell or Microsoft. We use Outlook Express. Can anyone advise?

Thankyou, Jaxson4

A:Shared Email

Does comecas only offers you one email address? anyhow thats besides the point
OE has 2 nice options... one is if you were to get a diff e-mail address you can set up multiple identies. (this is found under "FILE --> Identies") or what could be happening is that norton removed the option to leave copy on server. this is found under TOOLS--> ACCOUNTS--> PROPERTIES (on the account of course) -->advanced tab.
there should be a check box there

I work for an investment company and by law ALL emails sent and received, must be read and initialed by me daily. Currently I am having to get all the emails from each individual in the office. Thank goodness its a small office of 4 or this might take much longer than it currently does. Is there any way that I could set something up so that all emails incoming and outgoing, from all individuals in the office, could be sent to my account? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated!

A:receiving both sent and received email from the office on one email account

You could have email rules set up on each account that auto forwards a copy of both incoming and outgoing to your account.

Hi; I've read through posts but I didn't seem to find anything pertinent. My office has created new email accounts for everyone, and I've set mine up on my laptop using Microsoft Office Outlook. I've been using an aol screenname to send/receive emails. I'd like to have my emails that are incoming to my AOL account automatically forward to my new email account for reading (maybe temporarily, maybe permanently), while I am in the process of notifying all my correspondents of the change.

Any way to set up AOL to automatically forward my incoming messages, or to set up Microsoft Office Outlook to import them automatically? Or, is there no way?

Also, any easy way to ensure that, if I read my emails on another webmail viewer like roundcube, squirrelmail or horde (three options allied with the agency that is re-doing our website), that my emails will still come up on my Microfsoft Office Outlook email list?

Thank you all! Suzanne

A:Solved: Setting up AOL email to forward to new email account

Good evening Susan
I googled your question and here is a link to what I think is an answer for you.

As to saving emails, set your accounts up to leave the message on the server.

Running Win 7 .  Opened spam email by mistake and email account hacked. Acct locked by server after 1600 email sent. Account has been recovered.  I ran full scan with Microsoft Essentials and Malwarbytes and both clean.  Then I did a full scan with Kapersky and it showed 1 malware  of Trojan.JS.Agent.cfl located on my external harddrive in my backup files location and possibly 2 other locations on the report.  I have pdf ofKapersky report if want to see.
I also ran AVG 2015 and it was clean.
Not sure if I should just delete the backup files from my external hard drive.
What other scans can I do to make sure everything is OK?? - I have not noticed anything unusual with computer yet but want to ease my mind.

I have an att.net email account which is now serviced by Yahoo. Today a spam message originated from my account and was sent to everyone on my contacts list. "xmas" was in the subject line and the content was a web address which opens to a website apparently selling medications from Canada. Webroot antivirus has not detected any virus or malware on my computer. What should I do? Do I need to close the att.net email account?

Hello All,

I recently clicked on a Google Images picture and AVG warned it had a virus. I clicked out, ran AVG, and it said everything was clean. Recently, however, my G Mail account was compromised. Someone from a Chinese IP address logged onto the account, and then sent emails to a Chinese website to my contact list. I changed my password, but I wasn't sure if it was a virus or if my email was compromised in some other way. Yesterday, I emailed a PowerPoint presentation to a professor, which he said came up as a virus. Now when I try to open my own attachment, a browser page filled with odd text shows up. If it matters, the presentation was sent through my university's .edu account, not the G Mail. I use Windows 7.

AVG is still showing the computer is clean, but given the set of circumstances, it seems I may be infected. Thank you for your self.

I was wondering if it is possible to make multiple shared folders to appear under one network drive. Also, other new shared folders should automatically appear under the same network drive.
Any ideas?

Hiya All,

I am not sure this can be done anymore but here is what I want to acheive...
I have multiple HDDs with various shared directories on them in the following type of format:

c:\files\games\ shared as Games
c:\files\drivers\ shared as Drivers
d:\files\programs\ shared as Programs
g:\files\mp3s\ shared as MP3s
g:\files\videos\ shared as Videos

what I want them to look like on the network is:

Base (or ROOT) shared folder as [Files]
and then all of the other shared folders running off of that...

I know it can be done if all of the folders are on the same drive by nesting them all into folder order ie c:\files\ share this directory and then just place all of the other directories as such c:\files\games c:\files\drivers ect etc etc

But how can it be done with multiple drives?

Back in the old dos days there used to be a dos command "Subst" of similar that adhered a drive onto a directory but I have heard that windows negates that now

Any help would be greatly appreciated

I run XP Pro on my desktop which is hardwired to my WIFi router. I have a laptop that can make a WiFi connection and use my printer, also hardwired to the desktop.

Whilst I can print as many copies as I wish from my desktop, no matter how many copies one wants from the laptop, it will only ever print one!

Can this be a) explained, and b) overcome?

A:Unable to print multiple copies on shared printer

Is the printer shared on the Desktop? and is Simple File sharing turned on? If so, on the laptop, go to Printers and Faxes, and Delete the printer. Now on the laptop, go to Start/Run and type the computer name of the desktop computer where the printer is attached (ex) \\computername and press enter. It now should show the shared printer and any other shared folders on the Desktop. Right click the Shared Printer and press Connect. The shared printer will now be listed on the laptop. Print a multi page document by opening it, and going to File/Print and changing the amount of pages to print.

Running into a problem and I can't seem to find an answer for it. I have a folder on my Windows 7 64 bit Pro computer. I have set it up with a hidden share ($). The sharing is set up properly with Everyone having access. I have 10 additional computers on the network of different OSs (Vista Business, XP Pro and Windows 7 32 Pro). My problem is that after 6 computers actively access the folder, I can't get any additional computers to access it - gives me an error stating I have reached my max limit. I know Windows 7 Pro should allow 20 users, give or take, but just 6! I found out that each computer that accessed the folder was showing as having 3 sessions inComputer Management. I have no idea how to correct this so I can get others to be able to access this folder at the same time.

Any suggestions? TIA

A:Multiple sessions are created when accessing a shared folder in Win7

Are the shares "shared folder" showing up three times in those computers? Try unsharing "share with nobody" or remove Everyone from the list, for this folder two times and see if that gets rid of the extra shares.
