can't download windows update or adobe flash player

Q: can't download windows update or adobe flash player

Hi, I am having teething troubles with my new laptop Acer 6930G RUNNING VISTA PREMIUM 32 BIT. I can't get windows to update nor can I download new version of ADOBE FLASH PLAYER. It has Mcafee pre installed and I have tried with that firewall disabled but still no good. The lack of Suport from Acer and Microsoft is unbelievable! This must be a common issue but I have been trying for over a week to sort it. PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN. I am fairly sure it is not a virus or trojan or whatever as it was like this straight out of the box. I did receive error code 80072ee2 once when trying to update windows.

Preferred Solution: can't download windows update or adobe flash player

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a weird issue with a laptop I am working on. The problem is:Going to the Windows Update website to get updates, it is just blank and it says done in the bottom left.(see picture)Facebook only loads the top header when signed in. (see picture)I go to adobe.com, click on Adobe Flash to download it and I get the page, I click download now and it just reloads the website. I used a different browser and I saved it on the desktop. When I ran it, it disappeared?I scanned with MalwareBytes already, first time it was about 160 objects infected. Second time was in safe mode and found 4 more, all adware stuff.Any ideas? I disabled all add-ons in IE, reset to default, it still does it in safe mode. I disabled a bunch of stuff from startup via msconfig.I don't know what else it could be, suggestions?

Dear all experts,

I don't know since when fake adobe flash player update kept popping up when I open facebook link on my laptop (Windows OS, not Macbook). Not only that, my sister's laptop, my iPad, and my handphone (Samsung Note 3) also have the same pop-up. I guess this is because all these gadgets share the same wireless connection.

- I have tried various ways to fix the problem. I had bought Kaspersky to fix the problem but it didn't detect any problem.
- I have installed trial SpyHunter and StopZilla. They detect a lot of malwares and Trojans; but I need to purchase them if to remove all the threats. But I didn't purchase after seeing many bad reviews about them.
- I have also followed the steps recommended in this link by bleepingcomputer:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/526198/redirect-from-youtube-fb-to-fake-adobe-player-download/
But all the reports showed no problem. (I can attach all the reports, if needed)
- I have installed Spyware Doctor also have no problem.

Today, not only fake adobe flash player update; I have some problem typing in password to some websites on my Google Chrome; even for bleepingcomputer login. When I type in, the password becomes lengthened. But I managed to get in through my Mozilla; but the fake adobe flash player update begins to pop up here as well.

Is there any way I can remove this?

Thank you for your assistance!

You need to fire up the 32 bit Version of IE and then you can install Flash.

There is NO flash at this time for the 64 bit IE.

You will need to always use the 32 bit version for flash to work.

A:Can't download Adobe Flash Player 64 bit to PC

You only need to install a 64bit version of Flash Player if you are using the 64bit version of Internet Explorer. If it is working on your browser without any problems then you have nothing to be concerned with.

FYI. All 64bit versions of Windows have a 64bit version of IE included but you would have to select it from the programs list. Unless you have done that you will find the version you are using is 32bit. It is incorrect to assume that as you have 64bit Windows that IE is also 64bit.
With IE open click on Help and About Internet Explorer, in the pop up box next to the version number it will say 64bit edition, if it just shows the number it is 32bit.

I do not get an error msg, it just does not appear as a download file to save or run. I just restored my hard drive and have no idea as to why this issue came up.
Already firefox is hanging up or at times very slow. Could it be ff?
Your help would be greatly appreciated,

Check to see if you aren't opening IE(without add-ons). It's a I.E. browser feature for troubleshooting - located in Accessories > System Tools.

Look for the regular Internet Explorer browser which is located in the Program Files directory. Or go to Run (or hit the windows button and R) and type in iexplore.exe.

I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player installed on my computer. When clicking on a link to view (example: youtube link), a screen comes up that tells me I need to update to the latest version of AFP, which is already installed on my computer. When this first happened, I uninstalled AFP and reinstalled it thinking it had not downloaded properly. I even removed my Spyware program because I was prompted to do so, and reinstalled it AFTER I had reinstalled AFP. No matter what I want to view that uses AFP, I get the same message that I need to update to the latest version. I believe this problem began when I uninstalled TweetDeck, or at least, that is when I first noticed it.

Before this problem began, I had no problem viewing links using AFP, and the latest version was installed on my computer.

Hi

I'm trying to download Adobe Flash Player version 10 so I can use the softward that came with my new phone to sync with my PC.

When I run the installation it saves a folder in my C: but doesn't create an icon on my desktop for me to load the flash player.

I know it hasn't downloaded because I still cannot view the phone software.

I've tried searching the web and it appears to be a common problem however I couldn't find any suitable solutions.

If someone could provide any advice I'd be very appreciative.

Apologies if this thread is in the wrong section.

When I turned on my desktop tonight, there was a pop-up from Adobe about downloading a new (update) download for Adobe Flash Player. I've seen these before and always clicked on them.
After the download I had to go to SpeedTest site and when I went to the site, it mentioned that I needed at least Flash Player 8 to run the program (I knew I had Flash Player 10 installed). I've always been going to this SpeedTest page before with no problems. I remembered I just downloaded the new update for the Flash Player and I went into my Resotre Point, which was done (luckily) this afternoon. I restored my system and when I went back to the SpeedTest page, I was able to run the speed test.
Would anyone know what might have happened?

(BTW - If I ever wanted to uninstall Flash Player, how would that be done? I don't see it in Add/Remove programs.)

Ok, so I am taking an online math class that requires me to use an online math program. Well, since Adobe released the 10.1 verison of flash player the program is having a problem capturing the answers. It records them, but when you go back to see what problems you have missed it just shows them all as incorrect. Today the Plato learning enviroment released an email stating that you can either download version 9 to correct the proble, OR download 10.2 beta. Here are my questions.

1. Adobe flash player 10.2 beta seems to only be available for 32-bit systems, and I have a 64-bit. Is this compatiable?
2. What security risk come with using the beta version?
3. How much am I risking my computer by downloading the old version? Side note- I rarley open emails, never visit junk sites (I only go to 5 total website including this one out of fear of viruses), and have all ad-onns disable from running in IE explorer. I'm using windows xp. I'm trying to watch tv on aol's free site. Most of the shows are "jerky" (not smooth playing)
. I was told that I needed the latest version of Adobe flash player. To download this I was supposed to remove the version that I had and download the newest version. The download install said that it was complete, but next to adobe flash player in the "add/delete list, no memory is listed as it for all of the other programs. The shows are still "jerky", what should I do? Thanks alot, John

I keep getting that annoying message that there is currently no Adobe Flash Player available for 64 Vista bit but I can run the current version on a 32 bit browser. I'm not sure how to do that so can someone give up a little advice?

A:Unable to download Adobe Flash Player to Vista 64 bit

Hi Dog King,
I use 64 bit Vista myself and I noticed that Internet Explorer 7 64 bit does not support Adobe Flash Player. I found this out when I first got vista by opening Internet Explorer 7 (64 bit) and trying to install Adobe flash player and Vista told me it's not supported. Just have to use regular Internet Explorer that comes with Vista.

All of a sudden, I am not able to download Adobe Flash Player (the latest version, of course). In the recent past, it would download within a couple of minutes. Now, it takes as long as 20-30 minutes, acting as if it is going to install. Ultimately, it comes back with an error: "Cannot contact reliable source." Thus, it doesn't install.

I am no longer able to watch videos or look at any site that requires flash player.

Any help would be appreciated, as I am not very good with technical issues.

FYI- I have Windows Vista, 32-bit.

Thanks.

Firefox was giving me so many problems that I uninstalled it and now am using Lunascape on my Vista 32 bit pc. I uninstalled Adobe Flash Player when I changed to Lunascape, but Flash Player does not list Lunascape in their required browser list. Can I still download Flash Player or is there another or better alternative?

Whenever I try to download the latest Adobe Flash Player upgrade, I either get a message that DEP has prevented the download, or else the Adobe website is closed down by IE with this message: A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage.
"A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage."
What could be causing this? It is frustrating because there are so many things I would like to look at that require the Player and dont' work for me now.

A:DEP prevents download of Adobe Flash player upgrade

I assume you have IE8, this is a common issue.

IE8 dies when trying to install Flash updates.

Here's what to do.

1. Get another browser, if you haven't got one then download Chrome.

nb. If you can't use the net because of this bug then you can use a friends pc and save the file to a zip drive then install on your own pc.

2. Once you have your other browser go to this

run the uninstaller.

3. Using the new browser go here.
But choose the option 'Different operating system or browser?' - choose your windows OS and the IE, then run it.

Your IE8 should now be working fine.

A:Mi Computer Wont Let Me Download Adobe Flash Player

Hello lilroq

Are you able to provide any more information about the problem? Being more specific will increase the chances of getting the problem fixed.

Try to answer as many of these questions as you can:
Can you download anything else?
What browser are you using?

What do you mean by "ill get there to the point where it says installl but then it wont download"?
Do you mean that when you click download the download screen won't poup?
Or do you mean the window does popup, but then it closes?
Or do you mean you are not able to click the download button at all?

I have win 7, 64 bit computer using IE 11. I am not able to download any version of adobe FP from adobe . When I click "download", I get an initializing bar which either stalls or eventually shows "if download does not start, click here". That brings up a help page which states "When File Download dialog box appears, click Run. Security scan will run automatically." but no download box appears. That is as far as I can get.

Need help.

I keep getting pop ups telling me that Flash Player needs updating. I do not click on them and instead I go into control panel and check for updates from there. I still cannot get it to update and when I click on the go to download center, it sends me to the regular site. See link. I know there are phony pop ups is why I always update thru control panel. Anyone else having update problems ? I'm at 134 and should be on 154 if I can ever get it to update.

For those having trouble with Flash Auto-Update, Adobe has just released version 11.5.502.146.

If you'd like Adobe's Flash Player to be updated the minute a new version is released, for security and stability reasons, try the Alternative Flash Player Auto-Updater.

Note that even if you disable auto-update when installing or in the contol panel applet, the new player adds an autostart in services.msc (Manual) & adds a scheduled task...I took the above screenshot before I selected "Never check..." After deleting the scheduled task using Autoruns, after reboot it's back.... ETA: After another reboot, it's gone. Now I'm really corn-fused.

Hey guys, just did a clean install of W7 and trying to set it up all nice and tidy. I looked into how to do this and it seems that Flash Player can be Updated via the Control Panel>Adobe Flash Player>Advanced>Check now. But is this the preferred way of doing it, especially when I'm so far behind, at like version 11.xx?

Thanks, Nasty7

A:Best way to Update Adobe Flash Player

Hi:

Each browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome) uses its own version of flash player.
For Chrome, it's embedded, the "PPAPI" version.
For Firefox, it's the "NPAPI" (Plug-In) version.
For IE under Win7, it's the "ActiveX" version.
The latter 2 must be installed separately.

First step will be to UNINSTALL the older versions, as they are a huge security risk.

To uninstall for eligible browsers, first download the uninstaller from this link, then CLOSE the browsers (important!), then run the uninstaller tool:

Uninstall Flash Player for Windows

For Flash Player for Firefox and similar browsers, you would need to separately download and install it from within Firefox from here:

Adobe Flash Player download

You can do the same by browsing to the same page using IE, to get the ActiveX version for IE.

OR, manual downloads of the different versions are here:

Adobe Flash Player Install for all versions

To test each browser to see if you have the current version, you would need to try this website separately for each browser:

Adobe - Flash Player

Adobe appears to have released a Flash player update. Here's the full version download link: Download Flash player 11.2.202.233Or you can download the helper version from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ The difference between the two is that with the latter, you'll only be downloading a helper file which when run, will perform the update over the Internet. The full version can be installed locally offline. If you didn't disable the auto-updater which is a new feature in version 11.2.202.228, you should have received the latest version automatically already. To check, hit CTRL+SHIFT+A in Firefox to get the "Add-ons" menu and then open the "Plugins" submenu. Or in IE, go to "Tools" | "Manage Add-ons" and set the left hand dropdown menu to "Run without permission". There doesn't appear to be a Adobe security bulletin for the latest version, so you might want to postpone updating until more details emerge.
