I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Once again, my computer thinks it's been working correctly for too long

Here is the link to my previous thread: [SOLVED] Unknown BSOD from time to time

This time, it basically gives me a BSOD when the processor workload is higher than 20%, something runs out of memory or the computer has been idle for more than 15 mins. (Using YouTube, playing Games etc. etc.) Here are all the error reports:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
ATTEMPTED_WRITE_TO_READONLY_MEMORY
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

PC specs:

Processor: AMD Athlon II x4 640
Installed Memory RAM: 4.00 GB (I don't know what manufacturer or model)
Motherboard: BIOSTAR GF8200E
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8200

Hi all,

For some reason, my browser (Chrome) cannot access the facebook website. I've tried using other browsers but am still unable to use facebook. However, I am able to access every other website except for facebook. I've tried using a proxy to access the website and I was able to do it but when I switch the proxy off, I'm back to square one.

I've tried going to the website on another PC with the same WiFi network and it works. I believe the problem lies with my computer itself. Is there any way to solve this problem?

I'm using a HP Pavilion dm3 Notebook PC that runs on Windows 7.

Thanks and regards

Like said in the title; it is close to impossible for me to connect to Facebook! I don't want any miss understanding I can occasionally connect, I want to stress the word "occasionally" because I've been trying for the past few months non-stop (when I say non-stop I mean for an hour or so until I give up) and when I do connect, which is about 1/10,000 attempts, it runs rather slow, like its struggling to stay connected, I've noticed a pattern that its somewhat easier ( I don't know if its just random statistical luck) to connect after 0:00 GMT.

Anyway, I've done the usual stuff like checked if I could connect using other web browsers ( I'm using Google chrome but I checked using Firefox and internet explorer) I couldn't connect on any of them and the problem is only with Facebook and my computer specifically. Other computers in the same house, and also my iPod, can connect to Facebook just fine. Also I've tried un-installing and re-installing Google chrome with no luck, I've looked up other solutions with no success such as going on internet explorer > internet options> connections > Lan settings and making sure some box in un-ticked. with no luck. I've even tried going on CMD and pinging Facebook and I'm losing no packets with a Min ping of 97ms and a Max ping of 98ms.

I've tried scanning for a virus with no success finding any, and I've even tried converting to religion and praying to god ... Read more

Hello,
So, I've got two separate, but somewhat related issues. One has been going on for a year and still hasn't been resolved (posted about it before) but I have some updated info, the other one is new.
AsHere I go ....

1. Can't Connect to the Internet
I all of a sudden could not connect to the internet. As my wireless isn't working currently, I used a wired connection. I am using that wired connection right now on my work computer that I am messaging from, so I know it isn't a modem/router issue. I have removed all the anti-spyware that I had and only installed Avast!, I re-installed all the drivers, and I contacted my internet provider. In troubleshooting with the internet provider, we tested the ping for www.google.com, which didn't work, but when we pinged the numerical ip address, it did. The same thing happened when I opened my browser. The representative said that the IP address was not being resolved by the DNS (is that correct)??? Anyways, that's where I am at - how do I resolve it so that the IP address is resolved?

2. First, for some extra background, please see the thread from a year ago that I had posted:
http://forums.techguy.org/networking/663585-wireless-issues.html
Here's what I posted initially before:
I have a Compaq Presario R3440CA with a Broadcom Wireless card. I used to be able to connect to my wireless just fine. Now when I try to 'Find network connections', the error comes up as follows:

Hi, I'm having trouble loading pages such as facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers and upon further research all pages that have some form of login function. It is not a malware problem, it is not a slow internet connection, it is not a registry issue. I've run ASC scans and CCleaner, none of these are on my list of banned sites. There are no viruses on my computer, of this I am sure as the hard drive is two days old and fully protected, or on any of those in the house.

Facebook is particular takes several minutes to load then appears text only. I cannot navigate anywhere around the site from this text only version, nor can I engage in any interactions.

This issue is widespread throughout my household. All other computers in the house (2 PCs on Vista, a laptop on XP and a Mac with the latest... Mac OS thing) have the same issue. I'm at my wit's end.

Please help.
Dan

Edit: I should also state that I use Google Chrome, the other PC and Laptop use Firefox and the Mac uses Safari. There is no lack of disparity in search engines.

A:[SOLVED] Issues loading facebook, The Escapist, Yahoo answers...

If it affects all your computers on the network, then there is something wrong with your network, or your ISP. Have you turned off routers and modem, then turn just the modem back on, and after all it's lights have come back on, and stop blinking (this can take up to 10 min) turn your router on. Once it's on, then turn your computer one and try the site. If it's working then continue with each computer, one at a time. If this doesn't help, you need to call your ISP about the issue so that they can see if they have a problem with your modem, or their network.

Hello all,

I am having multiple issues with Windows 7. I'm thinking that I have a virus of some kind but my antivirus software says otherwise. The computer is an HP G62-144DX Notebook. Below are the problems that I know of...

'RUN' will not open
The 'SEARCH' option in the start menu and in the explorer will not work.
The 'right-click' menu is missing mostly everything (cut, copy, paste, properties, etc.)
'Folder Options' in the Control panel will not open. When I atttempt to open it, a very small window flashes with a message for a millisecond, too fast to read.
The right-click options seem to be OK in Internet Explorer and Mozilla
I also cannot move any files from the computer to an external drive. This means I can't just back-up my files and re-install Windows. The visual looks fine - The file I drag adds the little plus sign when I hold it over the new destination folder but when I release the mouse button - NOTHING...
I have attached my 'Hijackthis' log file as suggested.

For the record, I use AVG antivirus software. It is up to date and a complete scan comes back clean.

Any help is appeciated...

BTW - I posted this in the malware/virus section but contrary to what I think the issue is - maybe it's not a virus, etc.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

Please be patient with me, I have been online for 2 days searching for an answer to my problem. And am ignorant when it comes to microsoft software.

I am having several issues with what I beleive to be related to Microsoft Internet Explorer. These issues arose after an automatic update. Here are the issues:

1. I cannot log into most online forms. No error occurs, it just goes back to the log-in page.
2. Windows Defender, and AVG antivirus pop up and say they are not-up-to date. When I click on update, it says the programs are up-to-date.
3. My atomic clock that comes with windows will not sync.

I thought the problem initially to be with cookies, and I have read many posts. I do have cookies enabled. Then I thought the problem was with the atomic clock. It will not sync and I know cookies uses time.

My computer is completely up-to-date as far as Microsoft updates. This started happening after a windows update. I checked the error logs, but there are many errors on several different days, so i don't know which upgrade could be causing the issues. I can't nail down the exact time frame making this more difficult, I do these issues started between 2 and 3 days ago (There are alot of entries in the Log).

I can use Mozilla Firefox to log into only forms, but not internet explorer.

I don't know if it is a windows problem, internet explorer problem, atomic clock problem, or client side related. I just don't know what could cause the multiple issues. If you have an... Read more

Hi. I'm running Windows 7 and I decided to partition the hard drive to run Kubuntu (Computer Management->Disk Management->Shrink Volume). Every time I try, it tells me it can't because the volume may be corrupted and to run chkdsk and try again. So I open command prompt and it tells me the drive's in use and that I should schedule a disk check for startup. I do, reboot, no disk check.
Also, I can't change any boot settings in msconfig, disk defrag won't start, easybcd gives me errors and won't start. So I'm thinking something is wrong with my booting and my partition. I cannot system restore either, as it says the drive is corrupted. Also, I don't know if this is relevant, but about 1 in every 10 boots wont't load the majority of my drivers.
Is there any way to fix this? Thanks
By the way, I'm on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit which I downloaded (legally), so I cannot get to the command prompt by booting from the CD.

Hello,

I really hate getting on these forums and bugging you guys, usually I am able to figure out the problem and take care of it myself, but I have been working on this for almost a month and it seems to keep getting worse.

I am not completey certain that it is actually a virus that is causing my problems, it may be registry issue or a general windows issue, so I don't mind moving the thread if it turns out to be something else, but judging by what I have tried I believe a virus is the most likely explanation.

My first indication of a problem was the computer suddenly began getting REALLY slow. When I checked the task manager it showed that one of the svchost.exe's was taking up between 30-100% of the CPU. I was hesitant to kill it so I checked Process Explorer and it indicated that this particular svchost included only vital processes so I decided not to kill it. I restarted the computer and tried a antivirus scan (I use MS Security Essentials), it came up with Expliot:CVE-2010-1885.C. It was able to clean the virus and the system seemed to work again. I ran another scan to be safe and this time nothing came up.

But this was only temporary, a short time later, the problem came up again. This time I researched online what it may be and aparently this is a common issue. I tried all the suggestions given on various websites, including shutting down Windows Updates and manually updating the computer, but no success. Every time I thought I fixed the problem it would... Greetings! I would be most grateful if someone could help me with attempting to clean up a laptop. I tried, and I've hit a few [dozen] brick walls.

Symptoms:

- Computer will not shut down or log off a user's account (must hold down the power button to get it to power down).

Currently I am working on a client's workstation, and am running into several issues.

Specs:
OS was Windows ME but was upgraded to Windows XP Home Edition SP 2 (build 2600)
40 GB HD
512 MB RAM
Pentium III Processor
Two admin User profiles named <Craig> and <Christine> (Though Craig does not show up in Belarc Advisor)

The first issue with the workstation was noticed by the user; they claimed that when going to microsoft to install security updates, that the page would just show up blank. My first thoughts were, "Are you running Firefox, or if you are running IE 6 do you have active X installed?" The answer: User was running IE 7 and active X IS installed.

The second issue is when trying to add or remove a user via Control Panel> User Accounts. When the User Account Screen pops up, it is blank. Just has the Back, Forward, and Home button on the menu bar up top.

I then tried going to Computer Management Console to add a user manually, but to my suprise, there is no "Local Users and Groups" for me to edit!!!!

I did some searching online and saw a command to run " sfc /runnow " but when I try to run that, it gives me an error message saying "You must be an administrator running a console session in order to use the Windows File Checker utility."

I am at a loss; is there anything I can try? Or is it going to take a reinstall of XP to fix this? Any help would be great! Thanks in advance! :)

HELP!

I have a Lenovo notebook running Win XP SP2 that had/has some malware that caused among other things - boot issues where the computer would hang during boot at random points, search engine hijacks, wouldn't allow AV or MBAM to be installed or run, 100% processor use, no access to MS or Windows Update. I had to run in safe mode and prevent any boot loading to get MBAM to run to at least get to this point. What remains is the 100% processor issue (occasionally) and the inability to get to Microsoft Update. When trying to get to MS Update the browser just hangs.

I have included the MBAM logs as well as the other requested logs.

nv4_disp creating an infinite loop and causing a BSoD (and possibly other graphical errors) and windows/system32/config/system missing or corrupted. I have WinXP Home with SP2 and a GeForce 6800. Reading around it seems the 2 issues I have are never mentioned together so I will explain it from the start.

I play games alot and about a week ago I started having weird graphical errors that would start small and eventually freeze my computer only while playing games. My computer had frozen twice and I figured the graphics card was overheating because the computer was packed with dust. I cleaned it out with electronics cleaner paying extra attention to the gpu fan. It seemed to have fixed the problem until it started occouring again a few days later. This time I simply removed part of the computers casing to try and keep it cooler. That also seemed to fix the problem until last night. This time when I hard rebooted the start up screens had graphical artifacts in them and going to the desktop would make the screen flash a black screen an then back again over and over. After restarting a few times to try and work it out it froze momentarily on the desktop before a BSoD popped up saying nv4_disp got stuck in an infinite loop. I got on this computer and found a possible solution. It said to start in safe mode with networking, download the latest nvidia driver, uninstall your current one and reinstall the one you just downloaded, and then reboot. I downloaded the driver and went to ... Read more

Hi all,

This is my first post, I've been reading lots on here regarding wifi adapters, etc... but found this must not be a common issue.

I bought a Netgear 600 N then took it back assuming it was the problem, now I'm having an identical issue with an Asus 600 wifi adapter. All other devices work fine all over the house, including a laptop always on and in this same room. This PC however, has W7 and I have to restart it every hour or so because the wifi stops. The strange thing is, it remains connected to the router but says there's no internet (which I know there is as everything else works fine).

Anyway, the reason I have to restart the whole PC is that when this happens, if I attempt to click/open anything to do with WiFi using the utilities or windows wifi, it crashes and freezes up, task manager won't close it either.

All drivers are upto date, etc... it's definitely something with the OS and not the adapters, router, or drivers.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Steve.

Accounts aren't made for companies. If you go to the actual Facebook login page it tells you you can create an account for yourself (as a person) or a page for a business.
If you follow that link at the bottom and create a page, you can manage it from your own personal account.

However, after McAfee install Switched-On-Schoolhouse (homeschool educational software) refused to open. I followed a(n apparently outdated) tech support article on their support site and manually uninstalled SOS, SQL server & .Net 1.0 & 1.1

Which led to errors at startup: dcsa.exe failed to initialize properly; mcAfeeDataBackup.exe failed to initialize properly

Plus, I can't reinstall SOS because SQL server won't install. Spent ah hour with SOS tech support and we came to the conclusion that there is something deep and dark preventing installation. MDAC_repair did not work. (He said this might be pertinent.)

In the system events log, there are repeated entries for nview_info so I reinstalled the Nvidia drivers.

Is there somewhere I can get a fresh start? Do I need one?

Hi there
Is there any decent software around of enabling MULTIPLE concurrent conversations (not FACEBOOK or Twitter please) with VIDEO -- by multiple concurrent conversations I mean speaking to say 15 - 20 people individually with video and being able to switch windows so each person is just speaking to you individually -- say like using SKYPE with multiple INPUT calls at the same time.

I'm not interested in the Office collaboration software where people are in a remote meeting together and it's like a meeting. I want these to be like individual conversations but having several going on at once.

I haven't seen anything that can do this yet - but IMO it would be well worthwhile -- but I'm no expert on this.

Please note the essence is that each conversation is ONE to ONE --NOT A MEETING.

Cheers
jimbo

In the last few days I have noticed my computer becoming very laggy as well as several pop ups when using my web browser, with occasional computer restarts with no prompting. I have ran the latest Ad-aware, Spybot S&D and the normal tracking cookies have showed up nothing other then that out of the ordinary. As soon as I run Panda active scan and it starts it immediately stops scanning and times out. I have tried this on my other computer and it works like a charm. Upon doing a HJT to post here I notices something that didn't seem quite right, I will highlight it in the log. Below is my HJT log. Thank you in advance for looking at this and taking the time to answer this concern.

Much respect to all you guys do here at the Tech Support Guy Website.

Good morning all, it's my first post here so be gentle ;)

Probably about a month ago my wife and I noticed that not all images were loading in facebook, most images do but some don't. My wife always uses IE 11 to browse and I always use Chrome and firefox. The image issue is the same on all three browsers. This is on a Windows 7 Pro system. Facebook looks normal when we look at it on our iPads, iPhone and android phone when they're on our wifi.

I originally had my router/firewall (pfSense) configured to use Google's public DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) so I changed them to our ISP's (Shaw) DNS servers so now the router gets the DNS via DHCP. That didn't fix it.

I brought another Windows 7 Pro laptop home from work and it was able to view facebook fine using our wifi. That was using Chrome and Firefox (can't remember what version but most likely the latest as it was last weekend and firefox is set to autoupdate).

Last night I wiped the computer and installed Windows 7 Pro fresh, installed all the windows updates, flash, adobe reader, chrome and the same antivirus (MS Security Essentials). I didn't test but went to bed figuring it was resolved. My wife tried facebook this morning on the computer and said it was still doing the same thing. I fired up Chrome and confirmed that both browsers were still experiencing the same issue.

I fired up a Windows XP virtual machine in virtualbox on this computer and it was able to browse facebook normall... Read more

I'm trying to help my wife out with setting up her new Lenovo P50 64 bit laptop we purchased from Best Buy. By the way, so far I'm very impressed with Lenovo. Anyhow, my wife has a few facebook accounts and to move from one account to another she would just click on the login box and it would show all the accounts so that she would just click on which one she wanted to use. That worked great on her old laptop (windows 7, 32 bit), but on this new window 7 laptop it acts really strange. Sometimes she clicks in the login box and all the accounts are there so all she has to do is click login. Then the next time maybe just one or two of the accounts show. It is really random and doesn't seem to have a pattern. I checked her saved passwords and all three accounts are in there. Any suggestions on how to keep the login information in facebook?

A:Keeping multiple login info in facebook?

Well just thinking if you make a short-cut of each account as you are logged in. You should just be able to hit that and it would take you to that page and hopefully when you click in the user name it should insert that accounts details. I have never tried it but give it a go.

This somehow seems to be connected to Facebook Messenger. When I open the program, a bunch of blank tabs will open to: "https://fbcdn-sphotos-a-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/hellocdn.html?v=1". I've had Facebook Messenger for a long time and this just started happening. I've tried Googling solutions but I don't trust  those websites as they seem really shady. Also after I close the tabs in my browser they will re-open after a certain amount of time. They don't pop up if I exit out of Facebook Messenger though.

Ok, bare with me as this intial post is going to be long and detailed... I will try to start from about a week ago when I was using Pinnacle Studio 9 and trying to move a MP3 file within, well the program froze up and the only manner I could shut down was to press and hold the power button. when I tried to boot back up I got the Blue Screen with an error message of : No More IRP Stacks ... Well, thru the help of several individuals at the Pinnacle site they did get me back up and running in 2 days time. I really cant even remember HOW this happened but I do remember it was in SAFE MODE that we solved. I did back up my Docs and get an OUTLOOK PST file (can someone confirm that in Outlook 2003 the PST file backs up all emails, contacts, notes, calendar?) so I do have all this on an external Hard drive (just in case)

I noticed that the system was somewhat slower then it used to be taking a long time to open up an IE browser or even Outlook. I also was getting a window upon boot up stating that the "HrpY.exe program failed to close upon shutting down" (never saw this before) as well as upon boot up my System 32 folder would be open.

I do have Norton Internet Security and ran this, deleted everything it found.

I ran Adware, Spybot and it found its usual culprits and I as usual just deleted them. I then ran into a hijack issue with my homepage (never happened before) whereas it was bringing me to "About:Blank" EVERYTIME I tried to open up a browser.....I w... Read more

You can only have one Facebook account per their terms of service. You'll soon find 2 of them closed, possibly all 3. Start cleaning that up now.

My partner can view her facebook homepage and i can view other pages fine on facebook, like my messages, events and other peoples homepages, but my own page will not load.
It is not windows firewall or defender as have disabled those temporarily to test it. I have disabled all add ons to test and it still happens.

Hello everyone, I am new here and am having difficulty finding where to direct my question. I am hopping that someone here will be able to help me with this issue I am having with Facebook or atleast direct me to the correct forum

I can log into my Facebook page without any type of issue. My email address and password are still active, however, logging in is the ONLY thing that I am able to do. I am unable to accept new friends, add or delete applications, reply to messages, etc., etc. I have tried emailing Facebook directly but there site is not set up well for directing issues to someone at Facebook for Tech support. I am wondering if anyone here has run into this same issue and would know what is causing me to get 'page errors'/unable to make changes to my Facebook site. I have been working on this issue for a couple days now to no avail and am at the point of deleting the account all together and re-creating one..however, since I cannot make any changes at all to my Facebook site, I doubt I will be able to even do that !

Any advice, tips and/or tricks are appreciated,

TIA, Realitybytes

I have been using waterfox actually but, it is essentially firefox.
Yesterday morning everything was working normally...  I went out bird watching with my oldest daughter... when I came back(my computer stays signed off, nobody messed with it) I was having trouble with facebook.  All the pages were having trouble loading.  Some I'd have to refresh over and over and they'd just sit there.  I was able to do some things but it took a long time.  VERY VERY laggy...  Like, I was ready to pull my hair out.
It was only facebook... no other sites were giving me trouble.
Today I tried IE and just navigated all the pages I could while not logged in.  NO problems.  Pages loaded normally.  So I went to firefox instead of waterfox and, still the same issue.
I started to go through some of my addons, disabling them.(shouldn't really have to for ONE website).  I don't know what happened, what changed yesterday that would cause this but, with firefox and waterfox, facebook is still not loading properly for me.
I wonder if I can view info on any addon updates or anything else that may have occurred when I went back online yesterday afternoon.  I mean, something, somewhere had to change right?
I am not going to use IE...  and for those ready to suggest it, I will not use Chrome either.

Anyone know what could be causing this and what he can do? I will try asking him to join here so he can tell you all this himself if needed. But I promised him I'd help any way possible.

Thank you

Has anyone had any problems with the Facebook for Windows App besides me?

Every time I open it, it instantly crashes.

This is happening on all 3 of my computers.

Help needed please!

Every time I try and get onto Myspace or Facebook i receive an error message 'Internet Explorer has stopped working' or 'Experienced a problem'.

Each time it checks for a solution, however one never arrives, it simply re-starts.

This only happens on these two sites, it allows me onto the homepage but no further than that.

I am using IE7 and Vista Home Premium x64.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
