Preferred Solution: my brand new computer has crashed 3 times in 2 days

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:computer crashed after only 2 days of vista, please help

Since its only 2 days old I am sure you don't have much to lose.

Find the disk that came in the box and reinstall Vista. After doing that get it updated right away and you should be back to normal 100%.

Est time: 1.5 hours.

A few days ago, my computer was working fine, I had no problems.
But yesterday, I tried to boot up, and as usual, took me to the login screen. I log in and everything is horrible. the mouse is lagging and jerks around, the bar with the start button doesn't respond, and initially everything was just extremely slow. I tried to open my antivirus to run a scan to try to find a problem, but everytime I click on something the computer freezes and doesn't register that I tried to open a program. So I restarted the computer and tried to wait a bit to let it catch up before I try to do anything but after a few seconds it just bluescreens. I've tried going into the boot settings and using the last good configuratoin, but that didn't help. The only thing I can think of to do is completely reinstall Windows and I'd rather not do that. I guess it wouldn't be too horrible as everything that I can think of that I really care about keeping is also saved to cloud storage, but I would still rather not have to reinstall everything I have as well.

Has anyone else had similar problems and can I fix it without completely reinstalling Windows?

A:Computer was working fine 3 days ago now keeps crashed on startup

Welcome to the forums!

Did you boot into safe mode to run antivirus there? Are you seeing the bad behavior in safe mode also? Hopefully not.
Alternatively, boot to your repair disc (CD). You have one, right?
Finally, do you have access to another computer you can use? You could pull the drive on the 1st computer and repair the software on the second computer (accessing the drive as as an external device).

Running Windows 7 Ultimate x64. Don't have much installed yet other than Windows and some drivers and essential programs. Two of them occurred after about 15 minutes of prime95, but since then I've run prime95 for hours with no issue (temps have never gone about 60 degrees - isn't OCed yet, and using NH-D14 cooler). Other two occurred when I wasn't really doing anything, just web browsing. Updated mobo bios and crucial m4 ssd firmware, ran the windows memory test, double-checked the seating on the ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Don't want to start tweaking any settings or installing more stuff until I can get this resolved. Thanks for any assistance!

A:Brand new build, 4 BSOD in first couple days, no OC or computer strain

Quote:
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

So I just got a new computer today, installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and newest drivers for graphics card and all the essential motherboard drivers. I got two BSOD's, so I can't really narrow it down to what might cause it.The first one happened while I was watching a video, so the only programs I had open was Media Player Classic and mIRC I believe. And your normal background applications in a fresh install. Second one happened when I had World of Warcraft on the background, mIRC open and nothing more.I will insert my dxdiag here followed by the more recent crash dump. Hello Takanasi, Are you overclocking? if not

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)/Arg1: 0000000000000008, EXCEPTION_DOUBLE_FAULT:

The two primary causes for this are hardware and kernel stack overflows. Hardware problems are usually related to CPU, RAM, or bus. Kernel stack overflows are almost always caused by faulty kernel-mode drivers.

Try disabling driver signature enforcement. To do so restart computer and when it reboots press f8 to get the advanced boot options. It is most likely your display driver causing the problem. Let me know if this helps you

Last night i manually put my computer in sleep mode and went to bed. When i woke up i came down and my computer was rebooting itself then shutting itself down as soon as it rebooted. I stood there and watched it do this about 4 times, all 4 times my screen was black.

I then shut it down manual with the power button then rebooted it and it took me to a "Windows has improperly shut itself down" "Would you like to reboot in normal mode screen? I clicked yes and it took me to windows and it is fine now. What happened and how can i prevent this in the future?

A:Computer crashed in sleep mode then reboots/shuts down unlimited times

update: i just called my computer manufacturer and he said because my GPU card is factory overclocked the lower power state of sleep mode might be the cause of what is crashing it and causing the power cycle to constantly reboot

Hi, I have started getting BSODs twice a day at random moments on my computer in the last 4 days. I've tried to figure out the reason for the BSODs but I'm not sure.

I often get the * Hardware failure * bsod. Now I know these can be caused by a number of things, so that is why I included with this post the SF Diagnostic Tool zip attachement so you can help me figure this out.

I consider my knowledge of computers (overclocking, hardware maintenance and debugging) at a decent level, so it shouldn't take much help before we fix this. I just need someone to point me in the right direction.

I purchased brand new HP laptop (ay503tx) a few days back from an authorized seller (Grab A Gadget) through Amazon. The status of my battery as per the HP Support Assistant is "OK" but the battery age is 92 days. How is it possible? Is this the case of used battery?

A:Battery age 92 days but the laptop is brand new

The battery was made and first fired up for testing 92 days ago. Laptops do not sell immediately; they are shipped and sit on the shelf for a bit. The critical statistic is not the age in days it is the number of cycles. If the battery has more than a couple cycles on it then I would worry somebody swapped in a used battery.

Hi there,This is my first post here, I hope it helps me Okay I've mscorsvw.exe process which has been running all the times from past 2 days, and it eats 80-99% of my CPU making it slow.I have taken following steps in vain:1)Did executequeueditems on both 2.0.5077 and 4.0.30319 under Framework and Framework64 (of Microsoft.Net) which gave me : All Compilation Target are uptodate2)Installed Process Lasso and marked this process under "Terminate Always(Disallowed Process)" but then it would try again and again to run while being terminated by Lasso. So I removed it from "Terminate Always".3) A day back, Another file sbs_wminet_utils.dat was eating my CPU- nealry 100%, I searched about this file on internet and found 1 user telling that it was a new virus. As instructed there http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/pl/w7itproperf/thread/82e493bb-5e30-4886-a7fb-a70e7621acf3, I deleted this file and it never ate my cpu again, but after doing this step again came "mscorsvw.exe", which started eating my CPU. 4) Right now, When I checked security History under Norton Internet Security, I am really amazed to see "sbs_wminet_utils.dat" again, It says at 6:30, this ate at least 100% of my CPU 5) All these problems started after I installed Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 (It was Skidrow crack(Trusted Provider)), I have uninstalled this game with its setup files now from my PC 6) Hence now summarizing :This is by Norton Internet SecurityCa... Have you changed the CMOS battery recently? This is usually the cause of clock changes in the BIOS. If this doesn't fix it, please let us know. Also, please do this BEFORE attempting any work on the BIOS (such as updating it) as this may cause critical errors that may break the BIOS chip on the motherboard.

The MSINFO32 report shows Norton installed. Please ensure that you only have 1 antivirus and 1 firewall running on the system. Multiple antivirus and firewall programs will cause poor performance and errors on the system.

The memory dumps point to networking errors. Most common are errors with your Avast program - but also some memory dumps imply that there may be a problem with a K9 parental web filter program.

Since you've already replaced the antivirus, please remove the K9 web filter program and reboot the system to see if that helps. Feel free to install the latest version once we're finished troubleshooting.

Hi,

Just bought about a week ago a new Dell Vostro 3350, i7, 8gigs of ram.
everything went well for a couple of days, worked on a 3D design software (SolidWorks), played some light internet games, etc. Then, after running Americas Army V3.2 for about 10 min. the computer just shut down! after restarting it i got a message saying that there is a problem with the ATI driver.
i have tried to reinstall the catalist drivers but since then i cannot use the full resolution of the screen or open the catalist control center.

i have attached the BSOD report but got an error with the perfmon report.

Hope you can help...

Hi All,

I have been using my Acer Aspire v3-772G for three days now and have now 10 blue screens.
4 times IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
2 times SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

I can not say there is pattern how to reproduce it - it has been coming suddenly most of the times.
What I have tried so far:
-updated all drivers listed on manifacturer site
-updated BIOS
-run Microsoft memory check whole day long with no error (could not make memtest86 to boot from usb).
-uninstalled McAfee

I have attached the output from your utility.

Any help is highly appretiated.

A:Acer Aspire v3-772G - brand new laptop 10 BSOD for 3 days

Bluetooth is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Out of 10 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hello,

I have very unussuall problem with my OS.

Starting from Big Bang. I bought my HP Pavilion dv7 laptop on March 2010 with istalled Win 7 Home Premium x64. The computer has been working very well untill summer (August).

One day in august my computer started to be frozen, laggy and very slow. The last thing I remembered was I had installed the 3.6 update for my Mozilla Firefox browser. I have back up-ed my datas and recover the system to factory settings.

The system has been working well until 15th october 2010, when after 3.6 update for my Firefox was done, the black screen of death appeared after reboot (because my system got lagy, lazy and slow again). It was like lightning from the blue. I have lost all my data :-( No safe mode was working. Only black screen with mouse cursor (but the black screen was getting to sleep mode after 10 minutes). When I have started command line, I have realized, that my C: disc is empty. My antivirus havent find any virus before.

Ok. so I reinstall the system again. Last week, my system starts slowly few times (but in other hand, sometimes it was really fast). Since last reinstall, I blocked all possible updates for every software (except Windows). Yesterday, the system was bootin 10 minutes and the blue wheel were still rotating. System got lagy again. So I decided to restart it (the act of clicking to "start button" and confirming restart takes another 10 minutes). After restart, my windows cant boot. The black screen o... Read more

Can anybody help ? I have had no problems with my system for a long time, now, but suddenly, I have had 5 BSOD crashes in the last 4 days, 2 today, and I can't afford this as I have work to do !!!

I've cut & pasted the data from WINDBG into an Excel sheet, with the 5 crash dumps alongside each other, as I wanted to see if they were all the same, but it looks like the first 3 are the same, but the next 2 are different !!!

However, all 5 of them say "IMAGE_NAME: usbohci.sys", 4 of them say "PROCESS_NAME: ekrn.exe" & one says "PROCESS_NAME: System" (this was the 4th dump and thinking about it, it actually wasn't a BSOD, I had to restart the system manually as it locked up, so that may be a red-herring !!).

Can anybody tell me if I have a single problem & if so what it is ? If I have multiple problems, gulp, I hope not, but any help would be appreciated ...

I have attached the Excel file and 4 of the DMP files (I left out the 1st one as the 2nd & 3rd are almost identical & I was only allowed to upload 5 files) ...

Cheers & thanks in advance ...

A:BSOD 5 times in the last 4 days after none for months

All four errors point to the Windows USB driver usbohci.sys as the cause of your crashes. However, Window OS drivers are usually too general to be of much help. They more often point out that there is a problem rather than being the problem itself.

In the mix of all four was the Daemon Tools 4.0 driver sptd.sys as being unable to load. This driver a) loads at start-up and b) have given may, many people issues. Try either updating this software or uninstall it.

I have suddenly begun having a series of BSOD's today. Happened while doing different things, and the files reported varied each time. I've attached the minidump files for the last few. I did update my video drivers today after the 4th crash, but doing that did not seem to help.

I run windows 7 on a EVGA 780i FTW motherboard, 8 gig of RAM. Like I said, all has been well up til now. The only recent changes I made to my system were to begin using Windows Media Center to watch internet TV. It made me install updates for Silverlight and Flash.

Dumps attached. I appreciate any help any one can offer.

Gonna want you to do a memtest.. your bugcheck codes and parameters point to corrupted data being read from the ram. Here is a link on how to do a memtest and be sure to let it do 7 passes.. if there is an error.. remove all sticks of ram and start checking them 1 at a time to find the bad stick.. if at this point all sticks report no errors move onto the next dimm slot and start the tests again.

Let's go ahead and enable Driver Verifier first to ensure we're not dealing with any device driver complications:

Driver Verifier:

What is Driver Verifier?

Driver Verifier is included in Windows 8, 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003 to promote stability and reliability; you can use this tool to troubleshoot driver issues. Windows kernel-mode components can cause system corruption or system failures as a result of an improperly written driver, such as an earlier version of a Windows Driver Model (WDM) driver.

Essentially, if there's a 3rd party driver believed to be at issue, enabling Driver Verifier will help flush out the rogue driver if it detects a violation.

Before enabling Driver Verifier, it is recommended to create a System Restore Point:

Vista - START | type rstrui - create a restore point
Windows 7 - START | type create | select "Create a Restore Point"
Windows 8 - Restore Point - Create in Windows 8

How to enable Driver Verifier:

Start > type "verifier" without the quotes > Select the following options -

Hi,, anyway.. I am really mad because i fixed my computer last week and this same problem happened again. This is what happened: I was playing warcraft 3 with my friends, then it got sorta laggy so I press Alt + Tab to see if my norton antivirus was scanning. Next thing I knew was that the computer was restarting. After the computer restarted, it was keep loading. I decided to restart my comp. When I restarted, it said:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM

You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

anyway... I have to pay $60 for this again because I don't have the XP cd and I think the people who fix my computer use a Corpoprate Xp cd

To avoid this problem again, can you guys help me fix the problem?

Could it be the power supply? It is a 350 Watt power supply.
Or could it be the hard drive? its 80gb.
Or my Nvidia Geforce 2 mx 400?
Or my Motherboard??

Hello,

This is a newish computer (Built in July 2009) and up until a few days ago I haven't had any issues with it. For whatever reason though, while I was playing the Starcraft 2 beta, it crashed to BSOD and had to restart. The event viewer was largely unhelpful in figuring out the problem, so I went ahead and ran a few utilities to make sure my computer is running as well as I think it could be (CCleaner, Spybot, etc., just to get rid of junk). All seemed fine until last night when I went to shut down my computer and it blue screened again, with once again an unhelpful event file entry.

I only have the minidump from last night's crash (when I shut down my system), as when I ran the utilities to clean up my comp the minidump from the first crash was deleted. Hopefully someone can help me out with this... Your time is much appreciated.

This is the second Starcraft2 issue I've seen today - I wonder if there's an issue with the beta? I'd check their forums to see if it's the problem.

BUT there is a driver on your system that's known to cause BSOD's - so I'd suggest that you replace the ASACPI.SYS driver (dated from 2005) with the most recent one available for your system from the Asus website ( ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support- download_item_mkt ). It'll be listed under the Utilities section and is known as the "ATK0110 driver for WindowsXP/Vista/Win7 32&64-bit" .

The memory dump points to a memory corruption as the issue - so I'd try this free memory test just to rule that out: Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link).

More info on the STOP 0x7E error here: BSOD Index (Please note the "Usual causes" listed at the top of that section).

Beyond that, I'd wait and see if there were further BSOD's. If so, post the memory dump files and we'll move on from there.
