error message when installing Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

Q: error message when installing Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007

So for some reason my Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 quit working on my Windows Vista laptop. So i go into the Control Panel to uninstall it, but it just kept saying that "Uninstallation could not be successfully completed." So I just stuck the disc in the cd tray, to try to just reinstall it, but once I allow it to run, it goes for about 5 seconds, then a message pops up saying "Setup has stopped working." and then it closes.

please help me fix this problem. i need this software for college. and I can't seem to get anything to work.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just uninstalled the Microsoft Office home and student 60 day free trial because I accidently deleted the Setup.exe file when the trial ended. I have a working activation code but the activation window (of course) would not show up. So i went ahead and removed it from my computer and went to the office website and downloaded it again through the download manager...

Turns out that the download went well, but when i opened up X12-30107-DLM.exe to run the installer, I start getting issues. It goes through the setup (of which i type in the product key they gave me) and said that its valid. But when i click on continue/Install Now, it waits for like 2 minuites and then says that the setup encountered and error during setup. I did all this in safe mode with networking on my vista because it just freezes up when i use the setup in normal mode. used avg and spybot scan procedures on my computer and it turns out clean... Is there a way to get it to install properly? I am using a toshiba satelitte A305D-S6835 with AMD turion 64, graphics is ati radeon. like i said before, i am using vista (home premium) and i HAD this trial working before, until it ended and i wanted to reinstall it.

A:Error upon installing microsoft office home and student

Did you buy the full program, my thinking would be that you can't download the trial again when it has already come to an end on your machine, you would have to buy the program if you wanted to continue using it.

i bought a computer a few months ago and started writing a book. yes a book....something i always wanted to do im sure it will suck but another thing off my list as i turn 40....hahahahaha

anyway to my problem.
i am now locked out of the program due to the trial version expiring.
i am tight for cash with the holidays so i am wondering is there a way to get a key or extend the trial version so i can at least get into the program and get what i have typed so far and continue on another program.

i hate spending the money when i only really want to get my first few chapters that i have typed out. it will not let me cut and paste it or anything . i can see it but it is locked.

also if i am forced to buy the program and install it do i lose my writings when the new microsoft office home and student 2007 is installed ///wil it over write it?

i hope i can get the document out with out spending the money...that is my real goal here....i dont care if i can use the prgram again or not....just let me in to cut and past what i have down to another program....

thanks

Hi Steve, welcome to the forums..

i'm a little confused as to the nature of the problem. Are you downloading the file and the box pops up asking if you want to open, save or cancel? Or is this happening during the installation itself? Are you able to provide a screenshot to demonstrate what you mean?

I bought a new laptop recently over the Thanksgiving holidays. On the laptop came a pre-installed Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007. It says I need to enter the 25 character product key, so I looked on the bottom of my laptop and I copied down the 25 character product key and entered it in, but it did not work. Does that mean I have to buy another Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007?

Another problem I have with it is my new laptop was horrible laggy when I tried playing games on it (MapleStory, Audition, etc.). I did everything I could to improve the performance speed for it (uninstalled programs I didn't need, deleted unwanted files, Disk Clean Up, scanned Disk for errors, Disk defragment, scanned for spyware/adware/viruses, clean registry, blocked some programs from starting when Vista is turned on) and for some reason, Microsoft office stopped working well. When I turn on Word, Excel, Powerpoint, or OneNote, the splash screen would appear and stay there and nothing will happen. I've tried "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\WINWORD.EXE" /a and it actually opens the program, but when I open up one of my word documents, it freezes the program. What can I do to fix this?

My computer specs are

Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
Model: HP Pavillion dv9500 Notebook PC
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor TK-53 1.70 GHz

I would like to buy this on eBay. The vendor doesn't know if it will work with windows 10. Will it be a hassle for drivers and compatibility?

I only have an external usb dvd drive. Will it load OK from that?

thanks Frank

A:Microsoft MS Office 2007 Home and Student

My main concern would be if it's genuine and a retail version that will activate successfully. You'd be safer buying a retail version from a real retailer or online etailer to ensure you won't have issues with activation or legitimacy. Also, 2007 is pretty old, 2016 is the current version and usually can be bought for $149 or less, sometimes for $99 for the Home and Student version.

As for drivers, drivers have no relation to Office. Office 2007 is compatibility with Windows 10 and will install from an internal or external DVD drive.

I've been banging my head on this one for a couple of days and need some help! Recently I tried to open Word and for the first time since installation, the Wind.installer pops up for a sec or two followed by the error message,"Error 1606" Could not access network location. Not a new error I've learned. I did the usual trouble shooting searches through my favorite resources and confirmed it was going to involve a trip to the registry.Seems simple enough...

Everything matched up except REG_EXPAND_SZ %USERPROFILE%\Recent ,so I created it and added it in. No joy!! All following keys were fine in the "Machine" area so.. I would very much appreciate any help on this one. Funny thing,my printer went offline at the same time .Couldn't reinstall that either. Then I remembered their interdependence.Just Realized Where I posted this.Sorry!

Only way I ever figured out to make it stop the "please wait while Windows Installer configures Excel" or whatever is to make a new profile on that computer then transfer all your data from the old profile to the new one (data meaning favorites/desktop items/my documents). I have seen this with Office 2000/2003/2007. Not sure about 2010.

Hello all.

Im having an annoying problem with msoffice today. I notice many of the icons and functions of office begin to not show/work, so i decide to uninstall and reinstall it. But when i went to uninstall it, i got errors, leaving the uninstall incomplete. I ended up using the windows uninstall cleaner or something similar and got rid of it. When it still wasn't gone i found a tut online and removed several registry keys. After that i was pretty sure the program in its entirety would be gone. Now.. when i try to reinstall it, i get the error shown in this picture..

so i did what it asked and gave full permission for that key in regedit. But when i tried to install it again, same error.

i really have no idea what to do next here, i kinda need these programs for school.

it would be wonderful if anyone can offer any ideas.

thanks

Looks like you messed up playing with the registry keys. I assume you have backed up the registry before tampering with them. Just reimport those keys. Else try to set back to an early restore point and start anew. Hi there
First check that you DID select word at install time (or simply uninstall and re-install).

Then on Windows start screen simply type Word and you should see it.

You can then click Pin to taskbar to get a quick link. To pin to desktop select open file location and on the file location simply select send to desktop (create short cut).

Hi, I've tried googling my problem and while I've found some who share this problem, I haven't been able to find the solution.

I recently bought a laptop and Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 came with it. I tried uninstalling it but it was cancelled in the middle of the process. A day or so after that, MS word keeps saying that MSOINTL.DLL is missing every time I try to open the program. On the control panel it does not have a repair option, just uninstall, and when I try to it says "The language of this installation package is not supported by your system". I'm not sure what else I can do. I even downloaded the file, but am unsure of what to do with it.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hi I hope someone can help please

I am using Vista Home Premium and Office Home & Student 2007 but most programs are affected I use IE7 and this is also as with Office non responsive.

I have downloaded Hijack if you require a file to study i also wander if maybe Bios or drivers may be not working as well as possible as when i bought my Abit board Dec 07 although it was meant to be Vista ready the bios needed to be updated before vista would load (I have a duo quad core q6600) i did this using XP and U guru but when i then got Vista on U guru wont work so i am stuck checking the other drivers. Graphics drivers etc are up to date. I did download a driver checker which said several drivers are out of date but a) you had to pay to get it to search replacements B) as the program claimed my Graphics drivers are out of date and the official web site says i am current same with an Epson printer it made me qstn the value of paying to try it.

Any other info you want please ask.

Just thought I'd also mention this as it may have some bearing on why this is happening: When I purchased my computer it came with Windows XP Media Center, but a virus plagued my system and my hard drive became corrupted and I had to reinstall windows. Hi All,

It's been sometime since I've had to do a clean install of my Home & Student 2007. All I can remember is those silly little boxes.

How do I install the complete package from my disk.

Thanks,

Please help me, I am not as computer literate as microsoft thinks I am.....
I have an HP PC with Vista Home Premium. It is 1.5 years old. I had sent it back to HP earlier this year and it came back reverted to factory condition. Since then, I can not install any software even that compatible with Vista. For instance, I just got MS Office home and student 2007 and it "encounters error during installation". I do not have any other version of Office on my computer. I do have Works, which I tried to uninstall, but it wouldn't come off. Also, there is power point viewer, that also won't uninstall. I followed every step to get around this, but I am hesitant to screw up my computer with my ignorance. I am running on an administer account after following prior instructions from a forum such as this. Can anyone help me??

I visited a charity shop today and there looking at me was a copy of Office Home & Student 2007. It is in the normal cover and has an appropriate product key on the reverse of the packaging.
As I purchased a full copy last year, I have 2007 + 2010 update already installed on my two computers but I wonder whether there is any way of finding out whether today's copy is legitimate?

I don't want to try running it for fear it may do a "funny" on my system but can I discover whether its OK or not some way other than running it???

In other words, is there somewhere I can check the product key?

Many thanks all

Hi,
This Microsoft page lists activation enquiry phone numbers, the UK ones show as:
(44) (203) 147 4930
(0) (800) 018 8354.
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/existing-customers/activation-centers.aspx

As you've probably spotted, most other methods involve installing then activating - best avoided 'til you've verified it's status as you've already stated.

We had office 2000 on our computers and installed Office and Student 2007. Now my Outlook will only spell check in French and it won't give me the option to choose another lanuage. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it.
We did not uninstall 2000 before installing 2007.

Hello miss piggy,If you mean Outlook Express rather than Outlook (two different e-mail client programs), then this unfortunate behavior is "by design"."You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in Outlook Express 6.0 after you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system":http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974See also:"Oe Can Only Use French Dictionary For Spellcheck From Office 2007, Best way to fix this?":http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...st&p=696765

I have looked everywhere in the spec/adverts/blurbs/hype to find out if Office 2007, in any of its versions, contains Sapi 6.1. I want Sapi 6.1 because I use TTS and STT a lot and have read/heard that 6.1 is significantly better at speech recognition than Sapi 5.1 that came with the pre-Office 2003 versions. References state that Office 2003 (Pro version definitely, maybe other versions as well) does contain Sapi 6.1, but have found no Sapi info, none at all, about any version of Office 2007.

I don't have the moolah or the need for the extra features of Office 2007 Pro, or Executive or whatever they call the top end version these days, but I would reluctantly fork out for Office 2007 Home & Student - IF and only IF it has Sapi 6.1.....

So, if you know, let me know, does Office 2007 Home & Student incorporate Sapi 6.1???

Or, another option: Since I would only be buying Office 2007 for Sapi 6.1, is it possible to obtain Sapi 6.1 in some way other than buying yet another piece of bloated M$ Office software? (I much prefer OpenOffice 2.2, and expect that I would continue using it almost all the time anyway, even if I did have a new version of Window$ Office.) However, M$ does not offer a Sapi 6.1 SDK download like it does 5.1. Not anywhere I can find, but if someone knows of a site to obtain it... that would work, too.

Thanks.

Rob

I just built my computer yesterday (MSI X48Platinum, Q9550, 8GB DDR3, Radeon 4850, 2 Velociraptors Raid0) with Vista Ultimate 64. Everything went really well. But, when I tried to install Office 2007 Home and Student, it said that it can't find the /en/powerpoint.cad file and it asked me to search for it. I could not get it to find it. I tried to stop installation and try again, but it did the same thing. I've installed Home and Student on XP and Vista 32-bit without any problem. Has anyone else had a similar problem or know what to do about it?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows what this error message means and how I can fix it so I can install my version of Microsoft Office Professional 2007:

Microsoft Office Professional 2007 encountered an error during setup.

I don't mean to imply anything here, but can you confirm that this has either been downloaded from microsoft or that it has been installed from a licensed disc?

I have the above software now installed on three computers as per the license agreement from Microsoft. Unfortunately, the new computer is defective and must go back to the store. I know from the MS site that I have to "reassign" the license to the new computer, but nowhere can I find out HOW to do this? Does the installation disk automatically ask this if I try to install over the 3 computer limit?? Just want to know this before we box up the computer.

A:Reassigning license for Office 2007 Home and Student

You may have to call Microsoft to activate over the phone and explain what happened.

The older version I have used for years has a straightforward index list of documents. I use the list option instead of icons. All were logically alphabetical, scrolling across. 2007 Office has the most ridiculous mess I could imagine. It clumps together documents that have alike starting names, putting them side by side in columns, rather than one after the other and uneven at that. To quickly scroll and find what I'm looking for makes me dizzy. Is there any way I can change it to a logical alphabetical list, the way every computer system I've used is done?

A:2007 Office Home & Student documents index

Also, I forgot to mention, I put numbers in front of documents that I want to keep at the top of the list for easy access. Files I use most often. Now in the 2007 Office, these numbers aren't under each other. They are scattered. "6." was so far away, I had to scroll to find it.
