I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A while back I used DBAN to format my drive and then I reinstalled to windows 7 ultimate, but didn't download the appropriate drivers.

Now I want to reinstall again, but this time my plan is:
1. create a HP Recovery Disc
2. reformat my drive using DBAN quick erase.
3. update BIOS (BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard 68IRR Ver. F.31, 8/31/2012)
4. reinstall windows.
5. Install the required drivers (hp ProBook4540s).

1. What drivers do I need to install?
I read some other solved driver questions and following their instructions checked my manufacturer website for the windows 10 drivers (Drivers & Software for HP ProBook 4540s Notebook PC - HP Support Center.), but I noticed that there weren't a lot of drivers, which you would need if installing, for example, windows 7 home edition (Drivers & Software for HP ProBook 4540s Notebook PC - HP Support Center.). Does this matter or not?
2. How do I update my BIOS and which updates do I choose?
So this would be the first time I'd try to update BIOS. Therefor I read a short tutorial about updating BIOS here (How to Update Your BIOS | PCWorld). But I'm not sure, which updates I should install (Drivers & Software - HP Support Center.) and I don't see support for Windows 10. Does that mean I can't install windows 10 on my pc or that I need a different update?

Hard drive died, and I have no recovery discs (or backup for that matter). Can someone tell me the steps to get Windows 7 reinstalled on a new hard drive? My T520 (4239-CTO) came with Windows Home Prem OA (as marked on the license key sticker). Lenovo has a Windows 7 reinstall exe file for free download, but I dont know the steps for getting it on the hard drive without an OS. I also don't see any link on Lenovo site for buying recovery discs or USB. Thanks if you can help,Keith

Hi there,I have limited computer skills, and a week ago my machine suffered a Virus/Worm Win32:Alureon-FR attack from an e-mail.Avast could not remedy the problem, and I resorted to Spybot Search&Destroy, which deleted(?) the infected file, but now left me with a machine that cannot boot.Reading many posts, it would seem my only option now is to do a Repair Installation, or as a last resort format my C Drive - and losing everything! On startup I get the options of Safe Mode, Last Good Config, etc., but once I make a selection, its Blue Screen: "A problem has been detected.....Check for virus.......Remove newly installed harddrives....Run CHKDSK/F. Hi all, (My PC was purchased in August 2015 Dell OEM with Windows 8.1 preinstalled). Ive seen the link listed under my Service Tag where there is the option to download a Windows 8.1 ISO recovery image. Ive also read that you can obtain the ISO from Microsoft. Is that ISO the same as the one  under my service tag on the Dell Support site? Which is the best one to get?
I will be installing from a USB flash drive and the instructions to create the bootable USB installation media on the Dell Support site are straight forward and easy to follow using Diskpart. Then simply Mount the image and copy all files over onto the USB flash drive. With this method am I going to have to mess around in the BIOS disabling Secure Boot etc when I insert the USB to reinstall or after tapping F12 will the USB stick be listed?  A technician took control of my PC a few months ago to do a clean install because my factory  image was corrupted. I don't know if he typed something else as well but he used Diskpart. I don't remember him disabling Secure Boot at all but Im not 100% sure what he typed in Diskpart.
Ive read a little about installing from the Windows 8.1 ISO. With UEFI boot mode I know the USB has to be formatted in FAT32 because NTFS wont work {the support site method abovedoes that).
Ive seen Windows Media Creation Tool..but Ive read that it uses NTFS so there are boot problems. Ive also seen people talking about using something call... Read more

That explains why your computer is infected in the first place.

Beyond that, you will need drivers for your chipset, sound card, video card, and others - but those are the most important.

Right, so I've decided to re-install Windows XP Pro this morning and all went well until the installation requested a Windows XP Professional CD2 is required and I had to find an i386 folder. However, I haven't got a CD2 and I cannot find the i386 folder that is required. After trying numerous times to find this i386 folder I gave up and clicked cancel. I'm confused though, as the installation continued and everything seems fine. Will this installation work fine or will I run into errors somewhere down the line. I would be grateful to anyone that could answer my question.

A:i386 folder really required for Windows XP Pro Installation

how were you installing it

XP comes on DVD & not on cds so the reference to cd2 is strange & makes me suspect that you are trying to install a pirated version that you have downloaded from the net

as you seem to have installed it lets check whether it is a legit version befpre we can offer any assistance

A:Windows 7 32 bit drivers required for Hp 15-BE002TU

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum ! I am not sure if 32-bit Windows is supported, but you may try. x64 is supported for sure. You can get the drivers for Windows 7 from HP website/servers . Here is the URL >> http://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862306/model/11543974 If you do not have Internet connection after Windows 7 is installed, you can copy the files from another computer and transfer them to your HP 15 via USB thumbdrive (for example).  Let me know if this helps and do not hesitate to post again if something is not clear.

Hi: See if the W7 32 bit drivers from the HP Probook 4540s work on your model. Do not use the BIOS, firmware or card reader drivers. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5229457&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4052 The driver you need for the hardware ID you posted is the Intel HD graphics driver. This card reader driver should work for you... This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones. File name: sp61722.exe

Hi: See if the W7 32 bit drivers from the HP Probook 450 G3 work for your model.  Do not use the BIOS and firmware files from this model on yours. http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=7834518&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4053 You want to install all of the drivers listed under the chipset section. You want the Realtek ethernet (LAN) driver for the ethernet controller. PCI Device needs the realtek card reader driver under the storage driver section. The unknown device may need the 3D driveguard driver under the storage section. I don't know what model wireless card your notebook has, so please post the hardware ID for the Network Controller device and I will let you know what wireless driver from the list of network drivers your notebook needs. To find the hardware ID, go to the device manager and click on the device listed as a Network Controller. Then click on the Details tab at the top of the Network Controller window. Now you will see a Property drop down list, and it will be set to Device Description. Drop down on that list and select the 2nd item (Hardware ID's). Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

your current device installation settings is configured to prefer drivers from Windows Update over locally installed

do you want to change the settings to prefer locally installed drivers over Windows Update?

What does it imply if I change my settings to prefer locally installed drivers over windows update drivers?
And can this action be undone and where/how? (I searched my machine but didn't find where this option is)

Im installing from a bootable USB and i've already tried using a different 4gb usb, a different vista iso file, different programs to make my usb bootable and different partition configurations. Has anyone come across this? For some reason i think it has something to do with the System Reserved partition but i am not sure and i dont have the option to expand the partition. Attached is what disk management looks like. Win 7 is installed in C:
Thanks for you help guys

A:Windows cannot copy files required for installation. Error 0x80070070

Where did you get Vista? Check the HASH against official HASH.

Perhaps you can borrow an external DVD drive to try install.

I'm assuming you don't have a DVD drive or you wouldn't have gone to all the effort to try different USB writing methods. The one which always works for me is UltraISO trial version: Open ISO on file tab, Write Disk Image on Bootable Tab, Format, Write. Then boot under USB or HD's.

If this fails, I'd reset the BIOS CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

If this is a PC do you have another HD to try install upon? If so unplug Win7 and wipe the target HD first. Then after install plug back in Win7, boot preferred first in BIOS, then boot the other using BIOS Boot Menu.

I purchased a Dell Laptop Inspiron 14R 5421 (Windows 8) in 2013. I used it for 4  years without any issue only until last month i had a problem of the laptop not starting (only DELL logo appearing). I ran the F12 diagnostics & it found a problem in Hard ware. I took it to a local service center (not authorised) in India & they formatted the hard drive. Post which, they installed a temporary windows 8 software & asked me NOT TO UPDATE. Now my laptop does not have the normal factory configuration & i have lost all dell diagnostics support & windows apps which were factory installed. I need to install a clean version of Windows 7 or 8. Can anyone guide me how to do this? I understand that the product key is encrypted by Dell in BIOS for all machines after 2012 or something.

Hello all. My laptop used work perfectly until the day I decided to remove all the extra stuff by doing a clean install of Windows 10.  I predownloaded all the drivers I would need and then did the clean installation.  Now I have an issue with my wifi.  It randomly drops connection to wifi and is slow to start working again.  After coming out of sleep it does not automatically reconnect to the ap and I have to trigger it manually.  Separately (i think) when coming out of sleep, the login screen does not respond to the keyboard and I am forced to use the mousepad to click or a touchscreen swipe to get to the password field. What I'm seeking is an official list of drivers that are required for a clean windows 10 install on a thinkpad yoga series 20CD.  If order of installation is critical, please give this also.  I believe I downloaded everything available from the support page but just want to be sure.  Sometimes not all drivers are available when filtering by OS "Windows 10".   Thanks in advance. Laptop specs are:512gb ssdmemory card slot2.4/5 n/ac wireless 7260ac w/bluetooth

What do you do as the first steps after installing the OS?
Here's my first few steps:

(This is for my computer, if it was someone elses I'd likely not do much more than install all updates.)

Update everything, install all drivers and antivirus.Disable windows firewall - I use a dedicated firewall, I want as much performance for my personal use as possible.Set a fixed swap file equal to the amount of RAM (currently 4GB).Disable UAC - It's MY computer, it should not annoy me. And if I get some crap, then I reinstall...Set CD drives to the last drive letters (Y: and Z: currently). It's become a habit.Install NKProds nCleaner, Auslogics disk defrag, Auslogics registry defrag - Cool stuff. Use my computer.I may have forgotten some steps here, I hope not. Anyways, I'm curious about what you do to keep your system as you like it, please contribute.

--- Disclaimer! ---
This is NOT a guide for getting extra performance, nor is it anything I suggest that you do on your own computer. I do NOT take any responsibility for trouble caused by following my suggestions here.

A:The first steps after installation

I assume some of what your listed would be subject to preference and risk tolerance.
-Set Menu, desktop, video and sound preferences.
-Restore backup data
-install all apps
-Post build cleanup, ccleaner, defrag, scandisk etc.
-when all is well, activate the MS products that need it

My specs are:
MSI Motherboard 970A-G46
(need to know any other specifics, let me know)

A:Windows 7 Installation "required CD/DVD drive deivice driver is missing..."

The CD/DVD device driver is a part of Windows and is installed automatically. What type of CD/DVD drive do you have? Is it an IDE or is it SATA? Boot into Setup (Bios) is the drive listed there? If IDE, set the jumper pin to CS (cable select)
Try the Microsoft FixIt: Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs

Hello, I very recently did a fresh install of Windows 7 on my HP Envy 15t ( http://store.hp.com/us/en/pdp/hp-envy---15t%C2%A0laptop-t8g40av-1?jumpid=ba_r329_hhocse&aoid=44661&0... ) (All of my PC specs are the most basic ones available for that model), however I am now unable to acquire drivers for anything.  I have no Ethernet or Wireless driver, so I can't connect to the internet, and I have no USB drivers, so I can't plug in a USB drive to move driver setups to the Envy. I am at a dead end I believe, because I cannot think of a reasonable way to get drivers into the new Windows 7 install.>Envy connected to Ethernet, No Ethernet controller driver>No Wireless controller driver>USB drive connected to Envy, No USB drivers The only peculiar thing is that my copy of my Windows 7 installation was booted from my USB drive. So, surely my computer recognized that there was a USB driver somewhere?  There were no other OS's installed on my laptop at the time of my Windows 7 installation. Thank you for whatever help I can get.

A:New Windows 7 Installation & No Drivers

I'm trying to format my HP Envy 15 1104TX but as far as I know there are only 2 USB 3 ports built into the computer itself. The Windows 7 (non-SP1) installer doesn't have necessary drivers to read from these two ports, causing a loop around the "missing CD/DVD drivers" section. I've tried the port swap fix, but it doesn't work since they're both USB3.

My real question is how do I add drivers to my Windows 7 installation ISO? I've seen a few guides but they're either badly worded or too difficult to understand. If someone from here could give the quick rundown, it would be greatly appreciated.

Note: Will I be able to just slipstream the SP1 update and the .inf drivers onto the ISO using RT 7Lite?

A:How do you add drivers to a Windows 7 installation?

Since on some systems, as perhaps yours, the USB 3.0 ports are not operational until windows 7 is installed. There may be a setting in the Bios to set USB 3.0 to enable legacy USB, which might help.

But I was able to install USB 3.0 drivers during a System recovery operation using a flash drive. But if you cannot read a flash drive during the install process, I suppose this will not work. It is a little hard to conceive of a system that has no useable USB ports during an install....

The drivers I used for my Intel USB 3.0 ports were downloaded from the manufacturers site, or possibly on a Driver disk you have. For intel, I needed the setup file and associated files for it and those two .inf files were iusb3hub.inf and iusb3xhc.inf. Yours, will of course, will be dictated by the controller manufacturer.

You can download a Windows 7 SP1 Install DVD .iso file from here and burn as an image.

Let us know how it is going.

Edit: I found this on the HP site

If your HP ENVY 15 comes equipped with USB 3.0, only the eSATA/USB 2.0 port may be used for USB devices while in HP QuickWeb mode

i have found many sites out there that approach my problem here about windows 7 installation not able to find any drivers.

but my problem is just a little bit different:
- the computer i am trying to install windows 7 enterprise on has its HDD out and into a 2.5" HDD enclosure
- windows 7 has been installed on this HDD before (its messed up pretty good for unknown reasons, so i formatted it while its in the enclosure)
- i am going to install windows 7 through another computer running vista, windows 7 will be installed on the HDD that is in the enclosure (by selecting the HDD for a destination during win7 installation)
- the computer that should have the HDD in it, for some, ultra weird reason, does not want to read any disc in its tray. so forget about installing it straight onto the compuer im doing all this for

but all those sites out there that address this same issue fail to solve it by suppling the drivers needed to install windows 7, they always direct you to a link that (in my opinion) is off topic, badly.

i remember coming across this problem before (when i last installed it), and i got around it, somehow. but now it seems that its impossible to fix this

please answer these questions:
what are the drivers for?
how do i get them?
why is it so hard to find these mysterious drivers?

like usual, any help is appreciated, but...
if anyone can supply a direct link to the drivers (if its possible to do so), then that would be B****IN

How do I get drivers (downloaded using another PC) across to this laptop?

My Dell laptop (Vostro 3450) was behaving very badly thanks to a 'friend' installing dodgy software resulting in Windows throwing tantrums and viruses setting up home.

So I purchased a fresh copy of Windows 7 (64 bit) and followed the instructions for a custom install to wipe the laptop. All fine.

Then I got the error msg everyone reports "Windows did not detect networking hardware" ... and reading the forums I figured out that all the drivers are now gone and therefore no internet connection possible just yet. So I went to the Dell site to download the drivers for this laptop (it recommended 57 of them). It also recommended instead of selection "download" to select "download to ios file" saving to USB for easy transfer to my problem laptop.

Great. 2.2Gb later I now have a file on my USB ... but it does not magically activate when I plug it into the problem laptop. The file is visible. But how do I get it doing something? It just shows the filename of Dell Download Drivers, IOS file, 2.2Gb. But how do I use it?

I also read that I'm supposed to install these drivers in a special order. But how do I get them listed out so I can select them in order?

Sorry. This is all probably really obvious to you, but I'm lost. All advice is really appreciated.

Thank you !!!!

Make sure that when you download the drivers that you select "save" and not "download and run". When asked where to "save" to, select the flash drive.

Ok I would like to first say that any and all help is welcome and I thank you all in advance. Communities like this are why I love beeing a geek.

I have an issue with a stop error of 7b, the reason is driver related. I am looking for some guidance on how to use the tools available in WAIK to install drivers on a installation of windows.

Hardware at my disposal:

USB 2.0 and 3.0 flash drives
More SATA drives than I wish to count, Windows 7 installation disk x64
Disk containing the program in .exe than auto installs drivers. Also has drivers but there are many different versions so I am unsure of which to use.

Thanks in advance,

I've recently done a full revamp of my System including a new Motherboard that comes with an Intel? I218V Gigabit LAN Controller ( see Motherboard Specifications ) that won't work off the beat with the Windows 8.1 supplied Drivers which basically means that during the Windows 8 Personalization Procedure I'm not able to access my Microsoft Account and have it load a Backup to automatically install apps and preferences - Connecting to the Account afterwards won't produce the same results which is rather disappointing.

So I was wondering if it's possible to make a new Windows 8.1 Installation that comes with the necessary Network Driver?
Preferably with a Tutorial ;)

Or is there maybe a method that would allow the installation of the Network Driver before creating a Local Account in order to access the Restore Backup Function supplied during the Personalization Procedure?

Thanks in Advance!

A:Integrating Drivers into Windows 8.1 Installation CD

Yes, it is possible. You can integrate LAN driver to the Windows install image by using the command line tool DISM. If you never used it before, i would recommend reading the official documentation https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/.../hh825099.aspx

Here is how you you should add drivers to the install image : https://technet.microsoft.com/en-in/.../hh824971.aspx
Please note that DISM can only service Windows install images which are in WIM format. Retail install discs usually came with WIM images. However digital downloads may be in ESD format which can't be serviced by DISM currently ( only Apply operation is supported ).

If you think it's a little difficult to handle the command line, there is also a GUI front end available which is written in DotNet : DISM GUI 4.0 Utility - Free tool to manage WIM images - ESX Virtualization

Hi guys,

I just formatted my PC and installed Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit but I can't seem to install any drivers, other than the graphics ones. Whenever I try it says "Your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software". I've tried chipset, LAN and USB 3.0 which all have the same result.

I went onto the Asus website and tried downloading from this page here:

Am I doing something dumb here? I have no idea what's going wrong...

Thanks for any help

A:No drivers, usb installation of Windows 7 Ultimatex64

I'm confused. Are trying to download the drivers from the laptop that doesn't have network drivers installed? The first rule in any clean install is to have the drivers saved first...before you begin. A flash drive works perfectly for this.

Since you have access to another computer, download the network drivers there, save them to a flash drive, and bring them over to your HP system.

I've posted here before with this same problem, but with a different computer. I'm having problems installing the right drivers in Windows XP. The computer I'm working with now is an older Dell Optiplex GX280 I'm giving my nephew for Christmas. It has 2 gb memory and a 160 gb HDD. I have it set up for dual boot with a ntsf partition of 60gb for Windows XP and 100 gb Ext 4 for Kubuntu 12.10. For graphics it has what the factory installed built in, a Nvidia GeForce 7300 le. I do know it is a 3d graphics card. For audio AC97 Soundblaster emulation. The problem I am having relates to my Windows installation, using a generic XP sp2 installation disk. The installation went fine apparently, but when I searched the Dell site for appropriate drivers I received the following list of drivers:

Chipset- r79695 or r99397
Video - r96000 or r126541
Audio - r105155
Ethernet- r132254 or r78500 (with a note that the driver asfen75a.cab was urgent)

Having done this before, I installed the chipset driver (r79695) first. However, when I attempted to install a video driver, the first driver (r96000), the installation program told me I didn't have the proper hardware (no specifics) to install it and quit. When trying to install the second option (r126541), the aplication told me that files I needed were either missing or corrupted (it didn't specify which files) then quit.
The audio driver installed apparently properly. When trying to install the file asfen75a.cab, the ov... Read more
