HUAWEI Mobile Connect Model: E160e HSDPA USB Stick

Q: HUAWEI Mobile Connect Model: E160e HSDPA USB Stick

Dear Members,

During the Christmas break I purchased a Mobile Broadband Pay As You Go Dongle (HUAWEI Mobile Connect Model: E160e HSDPA USB Stick) while I was staying in Helsinki. I have purchased my computer from UK and I got the dongle from a department store in Helsinki. I took the dongle back to the shop and it was tested by using another computer than mine and it worked fine. I do not understand why it is not working with my computer.

Can someone help me to understand why it is not working?
Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I use a Huawei E169 via 3 and initially it would not install. I ended up allowing the software to install from the key drive, then rebooting and allowing it to install the software again.

If I recall from installing it on Win XP, it installs the drivers, asks you to reboot then installs the software to use it.

My father uses a huawei broadband e1752 HSDPA . It worked fine untill he visited us . He works abroad. He left the broadband at his home and when he arrived I had to reinstall windows because the computer(acer extensa 5220) was very slow. When he went back everything else works fine - he can connect to a wifi, he can use internet through a cable. But as soon as he connects the broadband to the computer, it shows the found new hardwear notification with a text "cd-rom" and the computer starts to freeze. You cant do anything, the computer is very slow. The installer wizard for the broadband just doesn't do anything. The first two times he had to make a system restore for the computer to work again, but now it works after a restart.
I found the newest hardwear for the broadband and installed it on his PC, but the broadband still freezes the PC. The broadband works on other PC.
What could I have done wrong? I instaled newer drivers from acer's homepage and a different antvirus Nod 32 4.0... wich i changed later.
My father isn't very good with computers so I trie to help him through teamviewer.
I am desperate because if I can't help him with teamviewer I will have to spend a lot of money to go to him and overinstall windows.

Hi there

I am having trouble installing a USB HSDPA/3G modem (Huawei E220) on my PC. In theory, when I plug it in a USB port, it should autorun installation etc as a plug and play device. However, it does not, and my device manager indicates that a new CD ROM drive and USB mass storage device have been added when I plug it in, but not a 3G modem. Neither the "cd rom drive" nor the "mass storage device" can be opened. I tried unsuccessfully to uninstall one of them at a time in device manager. If I try to "safely remove hardware", before unplugging the modem, nothing happens (hour-glass cursor) and Task Manager shows it as "not responding". I am running on Windows XP.

The weird thing is that it installed on my laptop, no problem. Aaaaargh!

Please help.

I just got a USB mobile broadband stick from Vodafone to use in my pc. I've installed it all no probs but the connection is so slow, taking about two minutes to load a page.

I used to be on Virgin fibre optic broadband through ethernet so uninstalled the ethernet adaptor in device manager in case it was interfering with my connection. It's still slow and I should be getting 7mb speeds. It's on contract for 25 per month and I don't want to pay for broadband that's ridiculously slow.

Do I need to configure my pc to get a faster connection or are they designed for laptops or a pc with more memory? I have 49% space on my hard drive and 757mb RAM so not sure what could be slowing it down. My brother got a really fast speed on his laptop with a USB stick last week so quite confused.

This is my first time when I post here, hope I will give u the info u need to help me.

Affected item:

-Nokia E71 (a modern HSDPA-capable 3G UMTS mobile phone) - self-powered, connected via USB

After having successfully established an Internet connection, any amount of serious downstream load will result in

* stop of downstream TCP/IP
* the connection "hanging" (which materializes in TCP/IP disconnects due to timeouts later on)

If I try only to open pages, not a serious downstream the connection is ok.

Affected system:

* Windows 7 (64bits) Professional
* Asus M50SA

If I do the same thing on a Windows XP works fine
If I connect via the Standard Modem over Bluetooth link works again fine(in Windows 7)
I have installed the latest drivers for the usb cable, and I have the Windows 7 system upgraded

Please help me.

Anyone else using one of these internal minicards; they seem to be getting more popular?

My problem: previous (T-Mobile/UK) PCMCIA card & SIM came with associated software and 'Speedmanager' that allowed one to select no compression for perfect web pages/images. T-Mobile SIM via Dell minicard gives better connection, but unfortunately no control over the fairly obvious compression.

Previous T-Mobile Communications Center v2.7 software that worked perfectly had to be ditched for v2.10 (Vista) when I moved to a new laptop with that OS. In a somewhat bizarre backward step this comes without 'Speedmanager' (?). There is other laptop specific (e.g. Sony) software from T-Mobile, like the Web'n'Walk Manager v3.1 out today, but nothing for Dell.

So back to the Dell card and software; there is no facility to adjust compression in the latter and endless searching brings up no solutions, upgrades or whatever. I can get a perfect web page by pressing Ctl+F5 after each page download, but that's a bit of a fiddle each time. But the fact that one can, means that perhaps a solution is not far away; maybe in the form of alternative software or some sort of intervention (config file, modem scripts etc?).

Anyway, if anyone has got any bright ideas I would be very grateful; thanks

question is in three parts. Win 7 Home Premium

1. used to have orange mobile broadband wi-fi but was not a good deal so i stopped it. The software stayed on my laptop.

I now signed up for Huawei mobile connect - 3G. On connecting dongle to laptop's USB, nothing happened( I was expecting an 'installing Huawei' window, etc). The dongle works as i can connect to the internet but on looking into it, the dongle connects via the previous Orange software - see two .jpg files. What does this mean? It is inconvenient as i cannot see how much up/download i have used, there does not a[ppear to be any Huawei software to give me any information. should i remove the Orange via Add/Remove Programs and start again with the Huawei dongle?

2. On looking at the security tab in Properties for Orange, am not happy with the CHAP and MS-CHAPv2. see jpg. Can i uncheck them without losing connectivity performance?

3. Still in Properties, Networking tab, dont like the file and printer sharing and client for Ms networks boxes either, just want the TCP/IP version4 box ticked.see jpg.Would i be right in having just IP4 checked?
As you can gather i dont have much of a clue about what is going on.

Ideas appreciated.

Hi all,

Recently i purchaced a mobile broadband dongle from 3 on pay as you go. i installed it on my computer and everything worked fine, i then uninstalled the software from the laptop when i stopped using the modem. Now i am wanting to use the modem again when it starts to install it comes up with an error message saying ' The application has a pending system reboot. Please reboot and restart the installer.'

I have restarted the system on many occasions when it has said this but it wont get rid of the message and wont let the installation continue. I have spoken to 3 about the problem and they have said that i will need to edit the part in the registry that is telling the computer that this software requires a reeboot and then to try installing it again.

They are not allowed to tell me what part of the registry i need to edit because people have been changing the wrong things and damaging their computers. Does anybody know what part of the registry i need to edit to allow the installer to continue?

The details of the modem are:
Huawei Mobile Broadband
Model: E156G

All advice will be great

Hi all

Huawei e156g Mobile Broadband USB Stick
HP Pavilion dv7 2070ea
Windows 7 Professional 64bit

The laptop came preinstalled with Vista Home 64bit and i was able to use the mobile broadband without any issues.

I have installed Windows 7 Pro 64 in a dual boot config and it runs fine on wired or wireless connections, but when i try to use the mobile broadband i run into issues.

After the modem driver and software install and a few restarts I was able to get all the devices in the device manager to be happy, and i was able to connect via the 3 Connect software and access the internet. But after a few minutes Windows will inevitably lock up, regardless of what program is being used. The screen will freeze, there will be zero harddrive activity and the only course of action is to hold down the power button

The mobile broadbands company site says that the vista drivers should be happy on windows 7, but something isnt happy.

I really need to resolve this as my mobile broadband allows me to connect to various servers for work via its allowed IP address.

Is this the modem, the USB bus or something else?

I have checked the event log and there isnt anything useful in there.

Many thanks

Hello everyone,

I use Huawei K3765 USB Dongle. I have unlocked it so that I can use other SIM cards with it. I also had to install Mobile Partner for it. But now I am getting an error in Mobile Partner saying, "the device has been disconnected or is unavailable".

I can still connect to the internet through dial-up but to use 3G services I need Mobile Partner. Now here is a link where a solution is posted.

I would like to know whether uninstalling every driver under 'Universal Serial Bus Controllers' is safe or not.

Any sort of help will be appreciated.

Abhishek Sharma

A:Huawei K3765 issues with Mobile Partner (Uninstalling drivers)

And when connected to the internet via dial-up, Mobile Partner identifies my device. But before connecting to the internet, my device is not detected.
Mobile Partner cannot connect to the internet, but when connected via dial-up, I can disconnect via Mobile Partner.
Mobile Partner cannot read my data card ie signal strength is 0%, but it still shows the upload and download speeds when connected to the internet. It also shows the statistics, data downloaded, data uploaded, time spent online, etc. but I just cannot connect through Mobile Partner. I need to connect through Mobile Partner because only then will I be able to connect to a 3G network.

In short, mobile partner doesn't works when disconnected from the internet. Only once I connect to the internet via dial-up, mobile partner can be used.
Any help?

Dear ACER Community, I need your kind help or solutions. My problem is about using my mobile broadband stick and wireless optical mouse at the same time. I just bought an Acer V13 notebook and excited to use it when I am out and about. I don't have much access to public wifi and hence, I have this mobile broadband USB stick which I bought from my local service provider so that I can connect to the internet with it. This stick helps me connect to the internet with a prepaid SIM card in it. I am sure you know what I am describing about. I am just explaining them in detail. Anyway, my stick is kinda huge. So, when I plug it in 1 of my USB port, I can't plug my wireless mouse receiver in the other USB port because the stick took up so much space. I wish the USB ports were at separated places or at least, a few inches away from each other. Is there anyone out there that can give me suggestions or ideas on what to do? I know this question is lame, but any ideas and suggestions will really help me. Thank you so much!

I have the problem that I purchased a Virgin Mobile Online Stick where you do not need a telephone jack, modem, router etc. or anything to go online, It's like, go online from everywhere, like at&t offers it too. Costs like 40-50 bucks a month.
But I cannot go online. i insalled the stick and when open the icon, it connects and says ready, but I cannot reach ANY site at all.
I saw in the network section that there is a little red x infront of the locale area connection and it always says, connect a cable. But this should not be the cae since you do not need any kind of cables with this stick.

A friend of mine and I had the same stick from at&t and it worked perfect. We just double clicked the at&t icon on the desktop, clicked connect and everythng was great and we used it to 100% in the car.

Can anyone help me what I'm missing or doing wrong?

PS: PC runs on Vista AND, when calling Virgin, they just tell you, that's not there problem because it shows that it is connected, which is true, but still cant reach ANY website

I can't find my post that I put up here yesterday, so I will try again.

A friend wants to give me this:

I'm wondering how I can test this out to see how fast it is and good signal strength before I switch over to T-mobile to pay $30 a month. Right now I am using CenturyLink with an external modem/DSL. I like the idea that it needs no phone line to get onto the internet, but if there is a power outage then what?

Is this type of plug in modem similar to the Magic Jack?

Have any of you sed a USB modem, if so what were your results.

A:T-Mobile laptop stick USB modem

Think of it as a cell phone attached to your PC for data usage.

I don't know that you can test it without having an active account. Speeds will depend upon your coverage area and signal strength. There are big differences in speed between 4G and 3G, much less a lower tier. It is powered by your laptop, so if your laptop has power, it will work.

You also need to keep in mind that it's basically just a wireless account (same as your cell phone), so you have have data limits. Depending on your computer usage, that may not be a big deal. But for most people it would be a major restriction.

I've been using Ubuntu linux for ages on my laptop, but figured I'd give Windows7 a go on my school machine. For this, I use a 3G modem from the Danish carrier "3".

When I previously used XP64-bit, I had to install 3's program called 3Connect to use the modem. When I isntalled Ubuntu, thigns got a lot easier with some betaversions of their network manager, and a stable snapshot was used for the newest Intrepid release: I could simply add the conneciton as mentioned here: Jens Bruntts blog :: Ubuntu 8.10 sammen med Huawei E220 3G kort fra 3 - virker nu

Problem is, the 3conenct thign sworks like **** on Windows7. It has an update, but downloading the update, or simply rebooting the PC, breaks the program, and I have to uninstall-reinstall to connect again. this gets tiresome rather quickly.

I've tried adding the modem as a connection directly, but although I can input the phone-number fileds (*99#) and login+pass (dummy, dummy), I seem to be unable to see, where I'm supposed to add the APN address (data.tre.dk). Anyone know how to do this, so I can get thigns functioning properly?

A:Huawei E220 - Refusing to connect

i have the E160, which is similar, got this to work eventually by loading up the auto run .exe file, say no to the update. unplug the modem, restart pc then plug back in it should then up date, once it has done that click connect, when it has done that go to network manager(bottom right) click on the icon in there you should see 1.3G click on that and it should connect.
hope that helps.

Your best option may be to open device manager (with device connected) and uninstall any related device, making sure the 'Delete driver software for this device' is checked.Once you have done this, unplug your device, uninstall WMDC 6.1 and reboot your machine. Then follow the instruction on my first reply, this should sort it for you.If anyone is helpfull, please click the 'Vote as helpfull' icon.

A:Mobile Connect

There are a number of ways to do this.
You an get rid of the entry in add/remove programs by editing a registry key, but that is the least satisfactory, as all it does is to remove that entry.
The fragments of the program are still there on the hard drive.
Go start
and search for files and folders containing the words - include hidden files and folders.
Bell Mobile

then when search finds them look where they are open them and delete the entries
To do that you may have to go My Computer
click the tools tab
click folder options
click the view tab
click to shown hidden files and folders
click apply and ok.

Please ensure you check carefully what you are deleting.

You may well find that this will then after a reboot remove the entry from Add/Remove programs.

Altrnatively download this and use the Revo Uninstaller
Free edition

CAUTION be even more careful on what you are deleting

A:Huawei switch vs Cisco switch, How to connect

What kind of 2960 switch do you have? Have you checked the interface to verify the switch recognizes the optic and all the stats report back as normal? Are you using a Cisco branded optic? Do you see light being shot out from the optic in the 2960?

I finally got my new computer running using a new Abit Motherboard BD7 Raid with a built in sound card and a pentium 4 CPU. All is working good except that my old Microsoft SideWinder 3D Pro Joy Stick isn't recognized as connected after connecting it to the game port. I connected my Microsoft gamepad and it was recognized as connected and it worked. I contacted the Microsoft Website and it said that the Resouces sould show only one DMA and it sould be 0201-0201. Mine shows 0201-0207 as well as a second DMA and I cannot change it in the Device Manager.
I also loaded the latest driver and software from Microsoft's download page,as well a patch for the 100 MHz bus speed. No good!
Has anyone else had this problem and solved it?

i have a laptop with a wireless internet connection but recently i find i can only connect to the internet using the usb flash stick, how do i solve this.....also, when i try to connect to my usual network there are strange networks listed i don't recognise and which certainly do not belong to me as if they're other peoples', i can only get my own network when i physically plug the usb stick in! any help with this much appreciated

A:Solved: can only connect to net using usb stick

Remove all the stored wireless network profiles and search for your network as if it were a new connection.
Assuming that doesn't help, download and run this Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector, paste a screen shot of the Network screen here. Identify your network on the display.
To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file. To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.

Hi, I am helping a friend with his laptop. It is a Packard Bell Easy note TJ67 laptop on windows 7. He had a virus so I used system to roll it back a month and then installed AVG, Superantispyware and adaware to clean up the laptop, which seemed to work fine. The laptop works fine now except for the 3 dongle which I cant get to connect to the internet. I have used the 3 dongle on my other laptop, and the dongle works fine. It installs its own software and drivers and then connects to the internet. I have run a virus scan on the dongle and it is clear. I install the dongle on the packard bell laptop, the drivers all install correctly and the software loads up fine. It even has signal and then when I click the connect button (using the three software) i get the message "The connection attempt failed, Make sure your device is connected to yourand that your settings are correct Would you like to connect again?" I try to connect via dial up on internet explorer and i get the message "Error 633 the device is already in use or is not configured properly"
I can connect to the internet fine through my home wireless system (which is no good to my friend who wants to connect via the dongle at home.
So in short
1) Laptop is fine and have scanned thouroughly for virus and cleaned up
2) Laptop connects to internet through my BT wireless
3) Dongle works on 2 other computers fine
4) Dongle will not connect to internet through packard bell laptop but it worked fine before... Read more

I have recently gone to the T-Mobile Broadband65 hotspot, my Acer Aspire 7520-5185 laptop (can use in on my WII and my Asus laptops) will not connect to it.

At first it won't allow the password, so by speaking with tech support at t-moble we changed the security properties to WPA-Personal, encryption type: AES, allowing the password to be input. I spoke with 2 tech guys to make sure I was given the same info and both report it has to be the computer because the mobile hotspot is running correctly on 2 other systems in the house.

When I try to connect using the t-mobile it states the connection to "T-Mobile Broadband65" was cancelled. This might be due to timeout or user action. View available wireless networks. You can then try connectiong to "T-Moble Broadband65" again or try connecting to a different network. If the problem continues, contact your network administrator or hardware manufacturer for further assistance.

I hope I have given you enough information.
