OE sent emails saved in 'wrong' place

Q: OE sent emails saved in 'wrong' place

I have a Dell Dimension 4600 with Windows XP Pro. I have just changed my email host to lunarpages.com, and configured a new (IMAP) account in my email client Outlook Express per lunarpages instructions. I am able to send and receive emails, but the sent mails are being saved in the ‘Sent Items’ folder in Local Folders rather than in the IMAP account. Anybody know how to make them appear in a ‘sent items’ folder in the IMAP account? I’d ask tech support at lunarpages, but they’re gone until Tuesday.

Preferred Solution: OE sent emails saved in 'wrong' place

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

OK, sorry guys it looks like I screwed up! not very computer savvy.
A while back... LONG while back, been putting off this issue, saved automatic backup in wrong place
woops! Looks like I need to fix that. Any tips so I don't delete the wrong thing?
here's the picture.

A:saved automatic backup in the wrong place... D-Data Drive :(

Looks like disk where you have saved your backups is doesn't have enough free disk space well you can either delete some files on the disk to gain more disk space or change the backup settings to start new backup on another disk i don't remember very well but if you move backups to new disk and change the currently backup location to new backup disk new backups should use the moved backups in new backup location.

Hi,I'm Tutti and I'm 14 years old.

I'm planning of upgrading my x32 Windows 7 Ultimate to x64 Windows 7 Ultimate, I copied all of my important files and drivers needed after reinstallation to my Local Disk D. After reinstallation, would my files inside the hard drive be saved or not? Well few months ago, I upgraded my Windows 7 Starter to Ultimate and few files from my Local Disk D were saved. Just thinking if it would be saved again after this.

A:Will my files be saved if I place it inside a hard drive?

How did you do a Upgrade from Windows 7 Starter to Windows7 Ultimate??
I could or might not be understanding you correctly.

Upgrade to another edition of Windows 7 by using Windows Anytime Upgrade

Windows Anytime Upgrade will only allow upgrades from a 32-bit version to a 32-bit version or from a 64-bit version to a 64-bit version. You can't upgrade from a 32-bit version to a 64-bit version with Windows Anytime Upgrade, for example. For more information about 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows, see 32-bit and 64-bit Windows: frequently asked questions.
Windows Anytime Upgrade isn't available in all editions of Windows 7, such as Windows 7 Ultimate edition.
Windows Anytime Upgrade is only available for online purchase in Australia, Belgium, Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

Anything you saved on Drive D if done properly will still be there and you should be able to retrieve them when need be.

If you have done anything to Drive D to format or the such you got problems.

At this point I would recommend doing another backup of all data you want to save to a external hard drive. Better safe than sorry.

Hi, I have searched on TGS to save doubling up on questions but couldn't find what I was looking for.

At present I use Wnds XP Pro SP3 and use OE6. I have loads of emails saved to an external drive. Whenever I wish to open them, I double click and it opens in OE. Mine is the SMTP and POP3 server. I use a dial-up modem.

I am thinking of buying a new laptop with Windows 8. Will I be able to open these old emails and perhaps forward them on to others, please?

Kindest Regards,

I have MULTIPLE emails saved during the past year. They are important and may or may not need to be accessed. One of my parents passed away and there are important communications pertaining to her illness and the subsequent family dynamics.
It would require reams of paper to print them all and save them in a file cabinet. They do take up a considerable amount of space in the "stored on my computer" designation.
I have several folders with different designations and now would now like to know if there is a means of compressing them within the folders.
In time, i imagine they will be able to be deleted but, for now, it is important to retain them.

Thank you so much to anyone with some assistance.

A:Saved Emails

Highlight all the folders you would like to compress. Then right click one of the folders and chose Send to > Compressed (Zipped) Folder. This will give you one compressed folder. If you would like each folder to be individually compressed then instead of highlighting all of them just right click each one and perform the steps to compress them one by one.Now you will still have the original folders on your computer taking up space. If you are sure that you have zipped all the folders you can now delete the originals to free up space. If you need to unzip the folders at a later date, right click the compressed (zipped) folder and select Extract All... then follow the prompts. Hope this helps edit - One other thing, if the emails are important, then by all means back them up to a cd or floppy also just to be on the safe side

When I had windows 95, I somehow found a file that showed all the emails that I had sent, but not received. I was wondering if XP has a file like that? I found the file by accident in 95 but that was years ago. Have tried but to no avail in XP. Even have all files showing, including the system files that you are not supposed to show.

i guess i'm newer than i thought i was......a friend gave me a new monitor that is larger than my old one....so i have a lot of black screen ......wish i could fix this...if someone could help or redirect me, i would appreciate it....thank you

A:may be in the wrong place

The monitor you have now, as the old monitor you had, should have some buttons or knobs on the front of it. These are used to resize the image, adjust it's position etc. Try them out looking for the obvious such as a knob with an image that looks like it will stretch it etc. Also, you might want to adjust your settings to a different resolution. For example: 800X600, 1024X768 etc. To do that, just right click on an empty space on your desktop, select PROPERTIES, then left click on SETTINGS, then move the slider under SCREEN AREA. Hope this helps, T.

I had a bad HD and installed a new one, re-installed Outlook 2000.

Outlook is working fine for the moment.

Old HD is still readable (not bootbale anymore due to a fault in Windows XP I suppose)
I can't start Outlook on the old HD neither.

I want to add all my emaildresses and emails that are on that old HD - Outlook section into my new Outlook.

Where can I find them and what is the best way to do this?

A:Place on HD of emails in XP-Outlook 2000

Try searching your old hard drive for a .pst file. Usually it is called Outlook.pst. Typically is it also the larger file with the more recent date.

Copy this to your new hard drive and configured Outlook to use that file.

My preference is to configure Outlook with the "Corporate Configuration". This allows you to put the data file where you like. Makes these types of situations a lot easier. Also for people that have some sort of central server, you can put the file on there so it can be backed up.

More information on how to do this can be found at:

Or when the washing machine switches from wash to spin. (The fan only does it switching from "hi" to "medium," not from med to slow.

Could anyone tell me the best utility for fixing the registry/broken links/shortcuts etc in XP Home. My computer has become quite slow and I think I may have a lot of rubbish cluttering up the system.I do tend to trial a lot of progs and then uninstall them.

A:This question may be in the wrong place

Personally I would not 'fix' anything in the Registry. Yes there may be a few broken links but they will be taking up minimal space and will probably not cause your system to slow down that you would notice.. Better to defrag your hard disc and run something like Cleanup! to clear out your temp files etc.

I got broadband last week and we're only allowed 2GB monthly usage limit (hehe, well it is cheap). I was wondering if streaming videos counts towards this, like does it take up disk space? And is there any chance of viruses? Thanks, pretty random, but I'd like to know.

A:ok this is probably the wrong place, but...youtube

Yes that will count towards your 2GB monthly allowance...everything you get from the internet will count (emails, webpages, videos, music etc).

It does take up disk space but once you clear your temporary internet files, that will solve the problem.

As with the risks of internet use, there is a chance of picking up spyware/viruses by downloading content....but the chances are far less with reputable sites.

Hope that helps :)

A friend has just created a new subdomain of his existing site. If I go to http://www.newsubdomain.existingsite.com, I see the host's generic "new site will be available soon" message. BUT if I go to http://newsubdomain.existingsite.com (that is, the same address, but without the leading "www."), I wind up on the site for some perfectly innocent-looking automotive specialty parts distribution company. (It looks like they mostly sell to retailers, not the public, so it makes no sense at all for them to be complicit in this apparent hijacking, although someone could have put something malicious on their site, I guess.)My computer is a laptop running WinXP Pro. AVG, spybot and Ad-aware scans find nothing amiss. The machine has no other symptoms of any kind of infection, afaict. The problem shows up regardless of whether I use Firefox or IE, but another machine on my home-network does NOT have this problem, so I know it's not a case of my ISP's DNS cache having been poisoned. I did run ipconfig /flushdns from a command prompt; that didn't fix it.Could this just be some simple corrupted record somewhere, or must we conclude a malware infection?TIA!!!

Hi, has anyone ever experienced this, in Win XP?

I'll try to explain the best I can... my father (on his computer), was playing around with his taskbar putting it on the sides to see if he'd like there, I guess...

Now he's got repeats of his icons from the desktop sitting on his taskbar, fullsize. We tried to delete them, but if we did, they would also delete the twin that's on the desktop. I found this too be so weird, his taskbar is now about an inch and a quarter high, and we could not reduce it.

Has anyone ever seen such a glitch?

I don't think a restore would do anything, it being icons...

I have WINDOWS XP, and can't figure out what other topic this question might belong in...

I don't know when or how it happened, but two file folders MY SHARED DOCUMENTS and CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS are now in MY COMPUTER.

MY COMPUTER, where it shows the drives. I am pretty sure it never had yellow folders in it before.

I think they should be in C DRIVE? There is a MY DOCUMENTS in C Drive, but it has nothing in it. I'm the only one who uses this computer, but apparenty everything saved goes into CARRIE'S DOCUMENTS. SHARED DOCUMENTS has various folders in it that I suppose would be shared by all, if others used the computer, too.

I've tried dragging them there (or anywhere) but only shortcuts appear in the new area. The folders still say in MY COMPUTER. They won't copy and paste.

When I open something, like in WORD, etc. I can still find them, just they are under MY COMPUTER.

So, they still work, it just seems strange, like they shouldn't be in MY COMPUTER. Unless I have totally missed this for the past year, I don't remember ever seeing them in there before. I take pictures off my memory card with a removable drive, which shows up as F drive, so I look in MY COMPUTER to click on this, all the time.

What happened and how can I fix it? Actually, since it seems to work this way, the only reason to fix it seems to be it looks odd this way.

In outlook 2007 whenever I create a new message, copy text in or insert a signature, when I save the message or send it the font changes from what I chose (i.e., arial 10pt) to Times New Roman 12pt.

If I save the email, edit all the text to the font i want, and then send it, the font changes again.

Additionally, if I use outlook format to change the style the font still changes when I save or send the email.

Further with this, when editing all text looks fine. If I click save, leave message open and look at the copy in draft in the reading pane, the font shows as changed but in the email I am editing, the font is as I chose. I have clicked save again and multiple times but the font in the draft is a different font then how I edited the email.

I'm trying to use robocopy for mirroring my most important files between two computers. Except for one issue, it works as expected.

I'm trying to copy the complete "Documents" directory. Previously, this was called "My documents" and contained for example "My pictures". Now it doesn't, and I like that, but robocopy don't. Somehow it still searches for these directories, and of course can't find them. Seems robocopy needs a fix, or am I missing out on something here?

A:Robocopy looking for my directories in the wrong place

When I use robocopy, I use it in a text based batch file. So, as long as your paths are correct in the batch file it should go exactly where you tell it to. I haven't noticed any issues doing it this way with Windows 7.

To put if breifly I was wiping the cmos after some trouble I'd had with my PC, I got distracted and when I went back I powered up the computer with the cmos jumper still in the wipe position. It won't boot to windows and seems pretty messed up, anybody know if how I could get around this?? I'm I right in thinking I could flash the bios, I haven't personally done that before so if somebody could speak me through what to do I'd be most appreciative...

Thanks in advance,

I Just updated my bios from R1-B4 to R1-C0 and i havnt seen any differnce, bios options are the same, pc still has buggy boots before getting to Operating system select,
so what would a bios update do exsacly?

A:BIOS Updated But.... (Sorry If In Wrong Place)

I can't say without seeing the release notes on the bios update, Generally they will only fix one problem at a time. Often it's compatibility for hardware that you may not even have. Meaning you will be unaffected by the update at all.

Normally the Quick Launch is located right besides the Start button, but the one on my w7x64 is away from it and the space between the Start button and the Quick Launch area appears to be the task bar where icon(s) is placed whenever program(s) is launched. How can this be corrected? The os is W7 Ultimate x64 SP1.

A:Quick Launch at wrong place

Hello Churin,

Step 8 in OPTION ONE in the tutorial below can help show you how to drag Quick Lauch all the way over to the left side next to the Start button.

Quick Launch - Enable or Disable

Hope this helps,

I've installed a windows to go on my USB driver. It works well, but only doesn't work on my own home computer.
The symptom is that it will boot from my hard drive(I've already set the BIOS to boot from USB drive).
I've checked the BCD file in my USB drive, it's normal when booting from other computers. But on my home computer, it will be replaced by another file, which contents are exactly same as BCD file on my hard drive. I don't know why.
So it there anyone who knows about the boot process of windows to go? And how could i solve this problem?

For some time now I have had no sound. I think I might have plugged the sound connector into the wrong hole. On the back of my Dell Dimension #2350 PC are 3 holes (one pink, one light blue and one real dark blue). I currently have it plugged into the pink hole & was wondering if I should try one of the other two.

Have I got it connected in the right hole now or would I hurt anything by moving it to one of the other two holes?

I am a beginner and would really appreciate any suggestions and/or help as I really miss the sound, especially on e-mail cards I receive.

A:Have I Got Sound Connected In Wrong Place?

It would not hurt the computer or your speakers to plug it into the other holes.

Make sure your speakers are plugged into the wall (if they are that type of speaker), make sure they are turned on! And turned up! Put in some music, play it, and then plug the speakers into the different ports and see if they work.

If they still don't, let us know and one of us can walk you through it!
