I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am trying to get BGInfo to use custom fields with the WMI Query to hide the network adapters not in use from showing "none" many times on the screen.
I have used the following query:
IP Address
WMI Class: Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration Class Property: IPAddress
WMI Query:
SELECT IPAddress FROM Win32_NetworkAdapterConfiguration WHERE IPEnabled=True AND NOT description LIKE "%VMware%" AND NOT description LIKE "%Virtual%"
After using this custom field and deleting the default IP Address field, the results show properly during the current session. After rebooting the computer, the IP Address field shows correctly the IP Address for 5 seconds then changes to <IP Address>
after the network card initializes or something else happens to it.
Would someone please help to offer advice how to make this change permanent so the IP address displays properly.

Hello - I've repeatedly tried and failed to install Service Pack 1. I have run the update readiness tool, and have run chkdsk and sfc. I've tried installing through Windows Update, as well as downloading the standalone installer from Microsoft.

The former results in an "unknown error"; the latter results in a window saying that "the specified service does not exist as an installed service" almost immediately after trying. A similar message has come up occasionally in recent days when trying to install a couple of other programs.

I'm currently out of ideas and would appreciate any help. Thanks!

Hey everyone,
I am trying to get the REST queries to work with the sharepoint end points instead of graph end points. I first created an app with relevant permissions and have given it the admin consent. Then I am hitting the https://login.microsoftonline.com/<tenant>.onmicrosoft.com/oauth2/token?Content-Type=application/x-www-form-urlencoded end
point with https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com as resource. I am then using the access token retrieved to give the rest call to https://<tenant>.sharepoint.com/_api/v2.0/drives/b!3indYSbqZ0-hVSPnCgIZy-2xDMh7jH9AuQnEzJMc6TEfQoSJvJT-R6tT0lFBQiPr/root/delta
but it is failing with "error":{"code":"generalException","message":"General exception while processing"}}. The REST response code is 401 Unauthorized. I have filed a Microsoft support ticket but they
have asked me to post on these forms. Can someone please help me with this? I am not able to move forward because the error is pretty generic and doesn't give any additional details.

"A problem caused [name of program] to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." But no solution shows. I have been using the same HP Pavilion tx1000 for a year and a half with no software or compatibility issues. I run Vista Home Premium, Service Pack 1 - 32 bit. Slowly this message began to appear with every microsoft program I opened and then started to spread to non microsoft programs. I tried reinstalling the programs, doing a system restore to the oldest restore point I could, I also tried uninstalling any window updates that were installed right before my problems. I have read some strings that indicate it may be a compatibility issue between the service pack 1 and vista but the service pack came with the computer and it has been working fine until recently. I am at loss what to try next. Has anyone using Vista Home Home Premium experience anything like this!!!

Hello all, I started having problems with my pc a few days ago and kept getting this message while trying to boot it up. I'm using a friends lap top to post this to try and get some answers.

Every single time I start up my pc, I get the message that's in my title. I've even tried booting it in safe mode and I still get this message. I've seen threads and posts about this issue, but they all started receiving this message while thier pc's were actually able to get xp to boot.

I'm hoping that this is posted in the right forum.

Can anyone tell me something I can do to get it to work again?

A:"Insufficient system resoures exist to complete the API"

Hmm, I've seen anything from too much ram Vs. not enough HDD space, to hibernation issues.

A suggested fix is detailed below, considering you can't get into the system, even in Safemode:

Removing all but 1 stick of memory, booting into Safemode, unchecking the "Enable Hibernation" box in power Properties, deleting the 'hiberfil.sys' file and then reinstalling your memory.

See 'http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909095' and 'http://support.microsoft.com/kb/330909' for further insight.

I am experiencing an interesting problem with system resources in Windows XP which, quite frankly, is driving me mad!!!

When the PC has been on for some time (say 10 hours +) it grinds to a halt and I get the following message when I try to open an application etc.

"insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service"

Nothing will fix it, other than to crash out and re-boot. The PC is then fine for another 10 hours or so.

I have already re-formatted this PC, reinstalled Windows XP and a conservative repertoire of well known programs, but to no avail.

Can anyone please tell me why this is happening and what I can do to fix it? The PC is running perfectly, otherwise. I just wondered if there were any issues with Norton Antivirus, as this program seems to be quite memory intensive??? Spec: AMD Athlon XP 2200+, 1.80ghz, 512 RAM, Win XP (Home) fully updated with all patches.

If you are trying to burn a DVD, get 99% completion, and then get the error message:

"the owner sid on a per-user subscription doesn’t exist"

I can't tell you why, nor how to fix it, but the following SHOULD get you back to burning...

1.) From the start menu choose "Windows Movie Maker", (NOT: Windows DVD maker)...

2.) Start a new project, from the menu on the left, click "videos", select the videos you want on the DVD.

3.) Then highlight and drag the videos onto the storyboard...

4.) Click publish, and choose the DVD option...

The program then will then open the DVD maker program. And your project SHOULD complete without any snags. (I have done this several times, and it has worked every time! Hope it does for you too!)

I searched all over creation for the answer, and there were so many other people asking the same question, but no answers. Thus, when I figured this out, I ran back to my home base, (Techguy.org), to share in hopes of saving someone else from the same frustration.

A:HELP! error message:"memory resources exist to complete the API" seen before welcome

Add any RAM recently? This issue generally has something to do with hibernation mode with systems that have more than 1GB of memory, however this seems unrelated. I would say that your OS is cooked possibly, if it was bad RAM or power supply or mobo it would have more symptons so it is definetly software related in my opinion, my suggestion would be to get the data you need off with a live CD, then install a freash copy of windows.

When booting up, Vista does not come up with the usual window that displays username and password box but comes up with a larger box with description "other user". There is only one user on this laptop. When you click on the box a window opens with "username and password". No matter what name o r password (or even administrator with or without password) you get the message " The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted". I have tried to do boot in Safe Mode (using F8), but no matter what option you choose from that menu (I have chosen all of them) it just boots up and gives that box "other user" in the middle of the screen.

I tried using TRK (Trinity Rescue Kit) to remove the password but without any success. I don't think it is a password issue. Since this "other user" box suddenly has appeared and was never there before I am suspecting it is due to virus.

This is my niece's laptop. She hasn't backed up the files at all so I am hesistant to reinstall the system at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

A:Vista on logon gives error message "domain does not exist"

Hi Bwaanaa,

The reason you are getting 'Other User' is because your computer is set to be part of a domain. To change this, log into windows with your normal account, press the Windows key + R (which will bring up a Run box), type: sysdm.cpl and press enter, then under the "Computer Name" tab, where it says "To rename this computer or to join a domain or workgroup", click the Change button, then put a check in the Workgroup box, and type a name such as: WORKGROUP and then press OK and then restart your computer.

If that solves it, great. If not, let us know.

If this was caused by a virus, thats another issue.

Hey everyone. This one has me stumped. I've tried everything I could think of. My work Network has about 15 computers connected. 13 of those are Pentium Celerons about 700 Mhz and up but we have two much much older PC's. The one that just developed this problem is a really old Pentium 1 150 Mhz with a 4 GB HDD. It's running Windows 98 SE (all updates etc done), all the rest except the other older PC have Windows 2000 Pro installed.

Now this one PC (it's a crappy compaq) will no longer connect to the one computer Windows 2000 Pro I basically set up as a file server. It has a number of shares which some programs we use require a mapped network drive. This one computer when trying to connect to the server only gives me an error that "Device Does not Exist" I did have it working last week but now it's crapped out. Funny thing is I can ping the server by name and IP as well I can connect to other old Windows 98 Computer no problem and any other Windows 2000 Pro computer on the network. It's only the server it won't connect to any more. The server has a static ip.

The funny thing is we use a program called Office Tracker Scheduler which connects to the server through the program to download updated scheduling info...this still works, it's only when trying to connect through My Network Places that it won't connect as well as it won't connect when trying to manually map the network drive to either \\ip address\sharedFold... My problem is that on the main entry form, when I go to a new record and try to enter in any field, I get a pop up error "field cannot be updated". It only happens on the first new field I enter on the form, then I can cancel the error and continue without other issues. I can go back to the form and edit, reedit and the error doesn't happen. It's only on that first field I enter. I have since checked to make sure none of the fields are locked and none of them have data entry set to 'no'. Everything looks fine that I know to check.

I recently built a call log database in Access 2007 for my team to use when calling agents on our top errors we see from a vendor's error report. My boss is requesting a report to see how many items have been resolved

I have a query started and I am trying to complete this task in a single query (if possible) instead of several queries (as I've done for a couple other things).

I have 3 tables I'm using: Assignment, AgtInfo and CallLog
Joins as follows: Assignment.st=AgtInfo.agcy_st

Fields in the results: Assignment.assigned_analyst, CallLog.rpt_mnth, CallLog.resolved

Resolved is a yes/no field. I've done a query that converts the -1 to a 1, so that the sum is a positive number for the "Yes" values. I'm not sure how to enter the expression to subract the "Yes" values from the total number of values (yes/no) to get to my "No" count.

Essentially, I'd like the results to display as:

assigned_analyst, rpt_mnth, CountYes_resolved, CountNo_resolved

Somehow the connection is just not clicking in my brain with everything I've read though searches. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I stored some files on my D drive which is an external hard drive ...

Lately I have had this happen a number of times with totally unrelated files in different places on the D drive.

I try to open them (in Excel, but I don't think that matters) and I get an errors saying the file does not exist and to make sure it wasn't deleted or renamed ...

However, if I copy that file to folder on my desktop it works just fine.

Is this a hardware problem with my external drive? It is not true of all the files ... for instance there are say 19 similar files in a folder and maybe 2/3 of them give me errors while 1/3 do not.

I have a machine where the customer was trying to restore a user account to point to an "old" user area (my documents, application data etc etc), where XP had created a "new" user area that had the username with the "computer name" appended to the end of it.

He says he went to the registry and changed all of the entries that had "computer name" in them, and blanked the ones where all that was there was "computer name" (this is how he explained it to me). So basically it would seem that there is no "computer name" references in the registry any more. Of course, I don't think he made a backup <sigh>

Now, the computer won't boot and he wants me to fix it...it gets to the blue screen "Windows is starting up..." and the hard drive stops and the machine is hung.

Is this a fixable problem for anyone here?

Today I got my new laptop and decided to dual boot Ubuntu and Windows 7 on it. After several hours of partitioning and researching, I ran into many issues. Eventually I decided to boot Ubuntu from a USB drive, open up Gparted, and delete any and all Linux partitions while expanding the size of the Windows partition back to normal.

Unfortunately, in the process, I must have made an error, because now upon startup I get the "bootmgr is missing" error. I don't have a recovery CD nor does my laptop have a CD drive, so that's out of the question, but I know for a fact my Hard Drive has a recovery partition on it. I want to restore my computer back to normal, keeping my old files if necessary. However, since I just got the computer today, I clearly don't have anything on there I can't afford to lose, so if I must do a factory reset I will.

Initially I checked my internet/browser wasn't using a proxy
Fixed my Windows host file to read only "127.0" etc.
Scanned with RKill and it "terminated" the rootkit

I was still getting redirected from Google so I:
Then checked Unhack Me... found nothing.
Continually cleared all Cookies

Ran a full scan on Pandascan - nothing found
Ran a full scan on CCleaner (cleaning EVERYTHING possible)
Ran a full scan on Spyware Doctor - nothing found
Installed Spyware Blaster
Ran Killbox - nothing found
Checked that nothing fishy was running on Security Task Manager
Checked my Windows startup programs, which were almost all Windows and NVIDIA

I then noticed a file jlvmyfor.exe in Program Files, disguised as winamp, which completely ruined the running of any process - including explorer.exe when I restarted after a scan.

Can you remember when this problem started to happen, if so had you made any changes to the computer such as software installations?

If so, you can try a system restore or use a backup if you have one to roll the os back to a time when all was working well and see if this solves your problem

I can almost guarantee that this is either a damaged or corrupt shell or a conflict with some software, as the fact that you can load the operating system up and get past post shows that it's not hardware related in anyway

Thank you

2012-09-12 22:20:34, Error [0x0f0082] SYSPRP LaunchDll:Failure occurred while executing 'C:\Windows\System32\wevtapi.dll,EvtIntSysprepCleanup', returned error code 1717[gle=0x000006b5]
2012-09-12 22:20:34, Error [0x0f0070] SYSPRP RunExternalDlls:An error occurred while running registry sysprep DLLs, halting sysprep execution. dwRet = 1717[gle=0x000006b5]
2012-09-12 22:20:34, Error [0x0f00a8] SYSPRP WinMain:Hit failure while processing sysprep cleanup providers; hr = 0x800706b5[gle=0x000006b5]
I do have the full log, so if you think it will help, just tell me and I'll upload it. I have also tried download wevtapi.dll from the net and replacing the original, but that results in instant failure. Also I looked for what process was using wevtapi.dll but I couldn't find anything. So please, if anyone has a solution, I'm dying to use my new computer set up! Thanks!

A:Sysprep Fatal Error caused by "wevtapi.dll"

(FYI) I have tried sfc.exe /SCANNOW and it reported no errors.
If anyone has another way to get my system to OOBE or running on a different motherboard (even complicated ones) it would be greatly appreciated.

Try this:

1. Backup and delete the following registry keys
2. Reboot
3. Go to the network connections folder, right click the icon for your
network connection, and select properties.
4. Click install, choose "protocol", and click "add..."

I am on a Windows 7 Professional SP1 system, running IE 11 (11.0.9600.19230C0, update version 11.0.101 (4483187).

When I have Internet explorer opened in "kiosk mode" on one monitor and I open a hyperlink from the other monitor it will open the link in a new IE window (non-full screen) . If I do the same test with IE not in "kiosk mode"
the hyper link will open in the open window/tab.

I have Internet Options -- Tab settings "Open links from other programs in" set to "the current tab or window".

Any ideas would be appreciated.

I just did a clean re-install of my Access 2007. It installed without errors and I checked all the boxes for VB to be installed, but "References" in the Tools Menu is disabled for some reason.

Any suggestions are apreciated.

Did you have a Database open when you did it?
Each database has it's own references.

Does anyone know if its possible to autofill the "from field" as a rule, when your in "another users /delegates" mailbox, so you dont have to add their address in the "from field"? (so it will autopopulate with their email address (and show "on behalf of")?
I hope this was clear.

A:Solved: outlook 2007 "from field" 'on behalf of" issue

No ... its not possible if the user has more than one delegate (that has added them with the applicable rule). from that point on, they will have to choose which person they want to add to "sent" on behalf of field.

However, If they have just one (one only) user who has added them with that permission (to send on behalf of), it will auto-populate with that user.

So, It does not matter even if they are "in" a specific users mailbox (and expect the "on behalf of" to auto fill with that users name). If they have more than one delegate that has added them with that permission, they will still have to choose which user the message will sent "on behalf of"

i figured this out by trail and error etc

Have a 32 bit Vista system. Can't download anything except window updates.

Every time a download is tried an error window pops up saying IE Caused an error and it closes. Window updates and will install.

Try to open MyComputer or Window Explorer and get a class not registered error. Start/run regsvr32 ExplorerFrame.dll will solve the problem with Windows Explorer.

But will not solve other problems.

System restore to an earlier point
Disabled all add ons
Disabled Firewall
Reset IE Explorer security
Removed check from Require server verification
Ran chk/dsk
Ran Malaybates AVG Scan all scans clean

I even uninstalled all update for Oct, didn't help, since all updates have been installed. no help
Uninstalled all software, no help.

The only thing I haven't tried was getting out that old repair hammer....

Hi, everyone. I'm new here but not to this problem.

I've been having this problem for a while now. I've tested my memory and even replaced it, but I'm still getting BSOD's.

This is the error that I get - http://oca.microsoft.com/en/response.aspx?SGD=d5e72df7-dc5c-4b88-80ec-6a98a63b2005&SID=10

I just put a brand new stick of 512 PC133 in this PC the other day and it didn't do it for a while, but when I get home today, it had rebooted with that error message.

I'm running WIN XP PRO w/SP2, 512 PC 133 SDRAM, ATHLON XP 2200 processor.

I'm adding the last few error reports to this reply. Any help is greatly appreciated!

When I try to open Outlook Express, when I am not on MSN, it comes up with this annoying error, and it won't go away even if I click on OK. I end up having to turn off my comp the hard way (power button). I know I can use the Repair function in the Add/Remove Programs thing, but after I do it, it will eventually start happening again, pretty quickly. Is there a fix to this problem? Or is it like this because it is the latest MSN, and there are bugs to be fixed? I've heard that downgrading to 5.0 is sometimes recommended. Anyway, thanks in advance.

Hello everyone,

I'm very new here, and I've got a problem!! (Sorry if this has been talked about already, but I couldn't really find any relevant information that would help me.)

So I built my computer just over a month ago, and since the very beginning it chooses to crash randomly. Seems to be more frequently now though. I haven't been running similar programs when this happens, so I'm having a hard time figuring out what the problem is.

Anyways, when I get back into windows, a box pops up saying that the system has just recovered from a serious error. If I click on Send Error Report, Microsoft opens up a page saying that it was caused by an unknown device driver.

I don't know how to fix this problem, but hopefully there are some big geeks out there who would be glad to help me!

Hi there is something seriously wrong with my PC.... when i go into a game, as soon as the game is loading a level (after the menus), the computer crashes to desktop. The last time this happened the computer restarted itself 3 times and the windows error reporting said its been caused by a device driver, but all my drivers should be fine. Ive tried the real and Omega drivers for my radeon 9800 pro, and everything else is just standard stuff from the manufacturers websites... the games ive tried are rome: total war and HL2...

Hello There,

Have you gone into the Device Manager and looked to see if there are any yellow or red marks by any of your devices that might indicate an error in the device driver?????

My expeience with Omega drivers is that they should not cause any trouble and in fact are usually more stable than the Standard drivers. Just my experience, some others on here may have had a different experience so we will wait to hear from them.

I am trying to use the fsutil file setshortname to set "Program Files" to PROGRA~1,

but the system is giving me an "Error: Access is denied" response.
what I have typed:
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.3.9600]
(c) 2013 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Windows\system32>cd /d D:\
D:\>fsutil.exe 8dot3name set 0
The registry state is now: 0 (Enable 8dot3 name creation on all volumes).
D:\>fsutil file setshortname "Program Files" PROGRA~1
Error: Access is denied.
And I try it in Safe Mode.It is also "Access is denied.".
Can someone
help me?

A:"fsutil file setshortname "Program Files" PROGRA~1"=>"Error:Access is denied."

Hi TimFF,
This might be related with the UAC settings, check this thread:
give full permission for the users in program
files folder
The steps in the above thread is not recommended.
For the short name usage, we may consider to create a directory-junction from
PROGRA~1 to C:\Program Files:
With the following commands:
mklink /J "C:\PROGRA~1" "C:\Program Files"
Best regards
